For Slot 3, what exactly does "Legit, normal performers only need apply" entail? Does that mean no humanoid animals/animals in general are allowed?

I took it to mean like no superpowers that influence people while performing such as mind control, etc.

That's exactly correct.  NO powers that affect the audience.

There's all kinds of examples of characters that use performance as a kind of mind control.  Creatures like Sirens, I guess

I think the Wild West slot is going to be a little hard to evaluate and debate simply because folks mostly didn't seem to lean in hard in finding wild west hero picks that stood out.

Nobody went after Dynamite specialists, or knife specialists or Native American heroes.  Nobody dug in to the plethora of Hollywood Westerns in cinema besides a couple of really obvious ones.  I'm actually really disappointed, and I will make it a point to vote down Whiplash the Cowboy Monkey every time it pops up. What a joke.

This was a slot submitted by the community, though, so it is what it is.

Mental note to self: Next time I make slot suggestions do not include the character I actually want to draft as one of the possibilites. Missed out on both of them.

Though I've been in every season draft thus far, I'll have to think about joining in this time around. I've seen my share of episodes from a few animes, but the genre's not really my specialty, and it seems kind of tough to pick mere "street level" swordsmen from there.

Besides, I've been thinking a bit more about putting out a few matches. Been a looong time.

Harsh. Why you gotta poke fun at my monkey like that? He is a rodeo LEGEND in these parts, yo. He can hogtie better than any of them quickshoots they brought!

And in my defense, I needed something animal related. Whiplash was the best thing I could find after Web-Slinger

Well, okay.  I don't foresee there being any challenge in the slot that the character will be competitive in, though.  Just seems like a lost opportunity to evaluate these type of characters which don't see a lot of play.

Not a huge western fan I guess. I like more modern westerns.

That's probably because 1) Westerns suck.

And 2) They facilitate colonial narratives and enforce indigenous stereotypes.

Seems like a cool character.  All good!  Likely will win every match-up against Whiplash the Cowboy Monkey.

I think the slot may be a bit narrow in it's focus in general, but we will see how it works out.
