  2. The next match up in the Mirage TMNT storyline continues with the next match in the tournament finals! So far, the Turtles have gotten off to a bad start with Raphael having been defeated by Ken Masters, but quickly made a rebound with Michelangelo securing a victory over Guile. And now we're proceeding onto the next match between Donatello and Chun-Li, which hopefully is a match that isn't so obvious and is in stark contrast to the official match line up in Capcom and IDW's collaboration for TMNT vs. Street Fighter. Writing out the recap fight between Michelangelo and Guile was both easy and challenging-- it was easy because I am familiar with most of Guile's moveset, as he only has two special moves and a few Supers here and there but I seldom played as him growing up with Street Fighter. Also, I tried to write out Michelangelo to be as unpredictable as possible, and even utilized both movesets from Injustice 2 and TMNT: Tournament Fighters, and even some moves from Konami's TMNT arcade games. I'd like to think that I conveyed a balance between Guile and Michelangelo, as I wanted it to show as a hard fought battle for Michelangelo. Hopefully, I did just that and I'd like to think that for Michelangelo, it was a pretty big win for him based on the fact that Guile is notoriously known for how tough and even brutal he can be even in the context of Street Fighter. Now, this match up was supposed to be different from what IDW presented. In the official TMNT vs. Street Fighter, and this also extends to the Playmates Toys as well, it always seemed to be Michelangelo going against Chun-Li. Now, I didn't want to do that because it's been done and I felt that IDW and Capcom did it rather poorly because in the comic, IDW Michelangelo didn't want to fight Chun-Li for whatever reason which was unspecified, although I think that he was smitten with her and that might have been a reason why he didn't want to fight. So now, you have Donatello taking Michelangelo's place, and keep in mind... this is the Mirage Donatello, who has been known to fight Triceraton warriors, giant stone Golems, knock out super intelligent Dinosaurs with his bo-staff or even his fists and feet, and in the Hall of Lost Legends story, even fight and defeat creatures and warriors from cultural mythology and folklore. So whatever preconceived notions about Donatello you have from the various incarnations of the character, leave them at the door, and remember this is the Mirage version. Also, it would be interesting to see how the fighting styles between Donatello and Chun-Li would clash. Remember-- ENVIRONMENT IS ALSO A FACTOR IN THIS BATTLE! Something I feel like people need to seriously consider. For new readers who are just hopping onto this storyline here, I suggest you look at the Mirage TMNT Respect Thread to see what the Mirage Turtles are more than capable of. -- Donatello (Mirage) is low tier superhuman in terms of physicals. 3. Colonel Guile pumped his left arm out three quick times before he followed up with a mighty straight punch from his right, intending on hitting his opponent with his calloused and hardened knuckles. Michelangelo quickly ducked and weaved from the incoming jabs, but he swerved out of the path of the incoming straight before he side-stepped in towards the Airforce colonel and spun his nunchaku within his right hand, twirling the weapon upwards for his opponent’s chin and then responded by quickly jabbed his left arm outward as he took aim for Guile’s face. Guile quickly hopped back from the incoming nunchaku and leaned to his left to evade the incoming fist. Michelangelo then pounced forward, and he quickly swung his arms apart, moving his twin nunchaku across as he intended to strike away at Guile’s mid-section with the chained weapons, but the Colonel quickly hopped back away from the wily Turtle as fast as he could. Michelangelo immediately rushed ahead, and he swung the chained clubs gripped in his right hand across over to the left and back across to the right as he aimed to strike at Guile’s mid-section. Quickly, Guile moved his arms out and blocked the double strike, but Michelangelo snapped his left arm down and struck down onto the top of Guile’s head with the nunchaku in his left hand. But Guile was no stranger to pain and being trained in hand-to-hand combat by the United States military had prepared him to take punishment. And even so much as deal it out. The United States Airforce colonel quickly swung his left arm in an uppercut fashion, intending on striking the wily reptile in his chin but then he immediately followed up by turning in a spin to his right and arced his right fist across in a spinning back fist as he aimed for Michelangelo’s face. The young Turtle leaned back away from the incoming uppercut, and he hunched down to avoid the spinning back fist from his seemingly more experienced opponent. Quickly, Guile leaned forward and snapped his left leg out in a front kick for the Turtle’s mid-section, but Michelangelo quickly snapped his right leg out, padding his foot against the top of Guile’s shin to prevent himself from being impacted by the kick. The wily Turtle immediately then swung his right and left arm across as he took aim for Guile’s head, his nunchaku whipping through the air swiftly to deal mighty impacts onto the colonel. Guile quickly moved his arms back, squaring himself as he took the brunt of the nunchaku attacks that Michelangelo immediately piled onto him. Immediately, the Colonel focused on his internal flow of energy and channeled it down to flow to his legs. He pushed himself to a leap all while throwing his body weight back and kicked his right leg upwards while somersaulting backward through the air. Michelangelo felt a violent impact moving into his chin all while a brief burst of energy moved through the air as Guile landed his Flash onto the wily red masked Turtle. An intense pain shot through Michelangelo’s chin followed by a pounding throb that moved through his head. A brief feeling of weightlessness overcame his senses until there was a sudden pull followed by heavy impact as his body hit the ground. Michelangelo had been subject to various forms of pain, but he hadn’t been expecting the Colonel to do something or even move like that. Michelangelo fought to shake off the brief dizziness and the pain which his chin currently was going through, and he flipped himself back onto his feet. If he was going to have any chance of claiming a win here, he would have to be as focused as he could be and fight as hard as he can. Guile squared his shoulders and raised his fists, keeping his arms closed for tight guarding before he quickly zeroed right in on the Turtle. As he neared Michelangelo, Guile jabbed his left arm outward several times for the Turtle’s head before he turned with his weight and swung his right arm for a strong hook punch. Michelangelo quickly weaved from side to side before ducking down underneath the incoming hook punch. Guile shifted with a step, pumping his right and left arm out in two quick straights only to follow up with a shift forward and he swiftly swung his right leg diagonally up to the left in a high roundhouse kick for the red masked ninja’s head, now moving with the momentum of the kick and turned in a spin to arc his left leg back across in a spinning back wheel kick. Michelangelo raised his arms up, blocking the man’s calloused and hardened knuckles directly with his forearms and widened his eyes when the roundhouse kick came for him rather swiftly. Instinctively, Michelangelo leaned back from the incoming kicks, feeling the breeze as Guile’s boots passed by him. Michelangelo spun the chained nunchaku in his right hand vertically upward, spinning and exchanging the handles between his fingertips as he intended to strike the weapon for Guile’s chin before he swung the weapon down for the top of the Airforce Colonel’s head. As if immediately on reflex, Guile swerved to his right and left, quickly evading the incoming attacks but Michelangelo tensed up his leg muscles and pounced close to his opponent. Seizing this moment of an opening, the red masked wily Turtle snapped his left and right leg out, one after the other and successfully managed to slam his feet directly into Guile’s chest. “HNNGH!” Guile grunted as he stumbled back from the kicks. Michelangelo dropped onto his carapace, but he quickly threw his weight back and forward, kick flipping himself back to being upright once again. The red masked ninja now spun his nunchaku with speed and skill before swinging them down and tucking then underneath his arms, now shifting with a step forward and quickly ran in towards the military man. Guile, seeing the Turtle coming in towards him, needed to change things up a bit. He focused on the internal flow of energy within himself, now directing it to move through his arms and into his hands and wrists. He quickly swung both arms forward, fast enough to break the speed barrier and unleashed a powerful burst of yellow colored energy towards the red masked wily ninja. “SONIC BOOM!” And like its namesake, the technique produced a loud explosion of noise as it moved towards Michelangelo. The mutant Red Ear Slider widened his eyes at this and only had a split second to decide how he would cope with something like this. But he decided to trust his instincts, and now leaned forward while running. Quickly, he dropped to his plastron and threw his weight to the right to make himself spin while he pulled his arms, legs and head into his shell, all while sliding at Guile’s feet. “WHAT?!” Guile shouted in surprise. Suddenly, a mighty impact slammed into his feet and Guile suddenly found the world surrounding him turning upside down. He widened his eyes as he watched the Turtle seemingly jump out of his shell and flipped onto his feet. Guile moved his arms down, intending to protect his head as he hit the ground. “YES!” Donatello cheered as he pumped his right hand, expressing his support for his younger sibling. Leonardo nodded his head in acknowledgement of Michelangelo’s unpredictability. While he and his brothers had trained under Master Splinter, Leonardo always saw the latent talent which his youngest brother possessed. As a matter of fact, Leonardo valued it and even appreciated how Michelangelo always seemed to somehow bring a level of creativity and unpredictability to his way of fighting. And now he was seeing that creativity and unpredictability at play here, and he would do well to learn from Michelangelo’s way of fighting. “Donatello… Be sure to keep that neat move Michelangelo just did in mind.” Leonardo whispered to the intellectual Turtle. Donatello blinked as he now turned his head to Leonardo, quickly nodding in agreement. Chun-Li widened her eyes at shock what she had seen, Ken blinked his eyes in complete and utter surprise at the maneuver which Guile’s opponent had deployed. Ryu just raised his hand and rubbed his chin, slowly nodding his head in approval of the mutant Red Ear slider’s approach in getting around Guile’s Sonic Boom. So far, these strange and unusual opponents seemed to show some level of skill and experience, and even creativity. Guile placed his hands to the ground and quickly pushed himself to his knees, only to now widen his eyes in surprise to see the Turtle coming right at him once more— now thrusting his right arm outward and he slammed his fist directly into Guile’s left eye. The Airforce Colonel now felt a powerful impact moving into his eye, the pain now manifesting as a sharp pain as it moved through his eye and into the back of his head. A wash of pain jarred his senses as he registered what just happened but before he could get his head cleared, Michelangelo turned with his weight, and he swung his left arm across in a quick hook punch and impacted his knuckles hard into the side of Guile’s face. The wily Turtle then pumped his right arm in an uppercut, firmly striking his knuckles directly into Guile’s chin, forcing the Airforce Colonel’s chin to jut upward, causing Guile’s teeth to grind harshly. Guile had been through many fights, from military operations to battles on the streets. He had fought all kinds of opponents in his life, some being the most unusual which the world had to offer him. From Yogi gurus who could stretch their limbs, to green skinned feral men who could produce electricity, and even a powerful dictator who drew upon the negative aspects of his soul. Surely, a kid who was dressed up in a Turtle costume, couldn’t be much different. But if Guile only knew the truth. Michelangelo quickly then turned with his weight as he then swung his right leg diagonally up to the right, performing a high roundhouse kick and swiftly landed the kick, impacting Guile hard onto his face and left a red print on his face. Michelangelo then pulled his right leg back before he snapped it out for Guile’s forehead, performing a high sidekick. Fighting through the pain, Guile swerved his upper body and moved his arms out, now taking hold of Michelangelo’s legs within his arms only to pull the Turtle in towards himself. Michelangelo, briefly losing his footing, suddenly felt himself dropping back but now found himself caught once more in Guile’s grasp as the Airforce Colonel wrapped his arms around Michelangelo’s mid-section and forced him to turn. Michelangelo, frantically turned with his hips, moving his arms up and bent his elbows out— striking them directly into Guile’s face to escape from his grasp. Using the strength in his legs to do most of the lifting, Guile heaved Michelangelo up and arched back, now allowing gravity to do most of the work as he worked to slam the Turtle with a mighty suplex. Michelangelo felt his carapace hitting the ground, and pressure moved through his back and into his chest. He widened his eyes in discomfort and pain as he gasped out, the air being forced from his lungs. The wily Turtle coughed as he worked to regain his breath, but suddenly now felt a pair of hands grabbing onto the edge of his shell and pulled him to his feet. Guile then pulled Michelangelo in closer to himself once more, and he thrust his right knee up, directly for Michelangelo’s face. But Michelangelo moved his forearms down and blocked the knee. Feeling a surge of strength flowing through, the red masked wily Turtle arched himself and he threw his arms up— breaking free from Guile’s hold. Surprised at the Turtle’s strength, Guile quickly regained his composure and clenched his fists, only to jab his left and right arm outward before hooking his left arm across and following with an uppercut from his right. Michelangelo gripped his twin nunchaku within his hands, now readying himself to use them but he quickly positioned his forearms upward and swung them inward, blocking Guile’s initial punches but immediately took the uppercut to the chin. Pain shot through Michelangelo’s head as he stumbled back, but Guile shifted with a step and he pushed himself to a leap, now turning with his weight and snapped his right leg out in a brief jumping kick for Michelangelo’s mid-section. Michelangelo hopped back from the Airforce Colonel, allowing his opponent’s foot to hit nothing but air. In retaliation, the mutant Red Ear Slider then swung the nunchaku within his right hand downward, intending to strike Guile’s head but the Colonel raised his left arm up with his forearm positioned defensively, blocking the chained club directly head on. Guile again focused on the energy within himself, and he directed to flow down to his legs. He immediately threw his weight backwards and up, kicking his right leg up once more as he performed another Flash Kick. But Michelangelo was getting a feeling of the flow of this fight, and seeing Guile preparing for another attack, he tensed up his leg muscles and he threw himself upwards and back, somersaulting away from his opponent just barely enough, only to now land flat onto his hands. As Guile was on the descent from his Flash Kick, Michelangelo catapulted himself forward and kicked both feet out, slamming them directly into Guile’s solar plexus. Both soon came in their descent, with Michelangelo landing onto his feet and Guile slamming down onto his back. Guile pushed himself to his feet, rising to his full height and Michelangelo snapped himself into his fighting stance, gripping his nunchaku within his hands firmly as he readied to deal with a rather stubborn opponent. Guile focused on the energy within himself and directed it to move through his arms only to swing them inward, firing off another Sonic Boom right at Michelangelo. Quickly he rushed right in at the Turtle, shoulders squared, and arms raised for defensive positioning. The mutant Terrapin shifted forward and ran towards his opponent, his nunchaku spinning furiously with speed and skill as he closed the gap between himself and his opponent’s projectile. But the red masked ninja then had leaned forward with his right shoulder, and he dropped to a roll in order to move underneath the Sonic Boom before rising to his feet and continued with his run. The Turtle and the Airforce Colonel clashed, as Guile then snapped out with a strong straight from his right before turning in a spin and swinging with a back fist from his left. Michelangelo swiftly hunched down from the straight, barely evading Guile’s fist as it moved above him. When the spinning backfist came for him, Michelangelo raised his right arm up and clenched it firmly, blocking the attack directly with his forearm and bicep. In retaliation, the wily red masked ninja then swung the nunchaku in his left hand horizontally across from right to left as he aimed it for Guile’s face, exchanging the handles within his fingers as he did so. Following up with the previous attack, Michelangelo then swung the pair in his right hand vertically downward and then up. Guile leaned back from the first attack with the nunchaku but then felt a powerful sharp pain moving down the top of his head as Michelangelo’s nunchaku slammed onto the top of his skull, before another sharp pain moved through his chin as the second attack landed. Michelangelo then had twirled his nunchaku in a figure eight motion, striking the chained weapons along Guile’s shoulders, arms, mid-section and hip area. The Airforce Colonel was now feeling the pressure piling up onto him, and agony shot through his very body. Fighting through the pain, Guile quickly shifted forward and snapped his left leg out in a side kick, forcing Michelangelo to hop back and slap his left hand down, batting down at the incoming kick. Again, Guile shifted forward with another snapping side kick, but Michelangelo deflected the attack once more. Immediately, the Colonel jabbed his right and left out three quick times, but Michelangelo raised his arms and swung them inward, using his forearms to block and divert the incoming punches away from him before he retaliated by turning with his weight and swinging his right leg high across to the left with a high roundhouse, smacking his foot hard into the side of Guile’s face, causing the experienced fighter to now falter. Guile shook his head from side to side, fighting off the nausea which he was now suddenly going through. Drawing upon the deepest reserves of strength and energy within himself, Guile moved his arms back as his wrists began to emanate a yellow glow. He swung his arms across and forward, now unleashing a powerful burst of energy which surrounded and encircled Guile, now threatening to strike at Michelangelo and catch him in the spinning energy. “SONIC HURRICANE!” Michelangelo widened his eyes in absolute and utter shock, but the red masked wily Turtle now pounced forward before he pulled his arms and legs along with his head into his shell. He slid across the ground whilst spinning, now hitting Guile again on the ankles once more, causing the veteran to have his attack interrupted as he fell forward. Michelangelo jumped out from his shell, and now turned to watch as Guile fell. Immediately, he spun the nunchaku within his right hand, and he now leaned forward only to push himself to a leap and he swung his right arm upward while spinning his chained weapon, hitting Guile directly onto his chest and then his chin, sending the Airforce Colonel flying upward. “RISING THUNDER!” Michelangelo shouted. Guile’s head rang with immediate pain, and the veteran felt a sense of weightlessness before he saw the arena all around him coming down. He hit the ground, flat on his back and suddenly… blackness. Michelangelo landed feet first to the ground, now padding onto his feet. He spun his nunchaku within his hands, twirling them in a figure eight motion before swinging them down and catching them underneath his arms. He maintained a fighting posture, ready for his opponent to get back into the fight. But there was no immediate movement. Michelangelo had secured a victory against the competing team by eliminating his opponent. “WHAT?!” Chun-Li expressed her immediate surprise. Guile was one of the most skilled and persistent fighters she had ever fought alongside with, and quite powerful in his own right. But to see one of these younger fighters having defeated him spoke volumes about their level of skill. Whoever had trained them, did so very well. Ken widened his eyes at the outcome of the battle. His brother-in-law having been beaten by these young fighters in what he had believed were Turtle costumes but, after seeing the way two of them fought… And with his own experience, and the lingering pain he still was feeling… He couldn’t help but be surprised. Defeating someone like Guile was no small or easy feat. Michelangelo then turned and moved over to his brothers, raising his left arm up to pump it in celebration of his own victory. Donatello smiled brightly to his brother and nodded in enthusiasm to Michelangelo, whereas Leonardo walked over to the younger Turtle, and placed his hands onto his brother’s shoulders and gave a subtle nod to his brother. Michelangelo stared at his elder sibling, nodding back to him as he saw the approval of his brother clear as day. “You did very well, Michelangelo… You’ve really come a long way.” Michelangelo grinned as he turned around and now looked over to the remaining opponents of the other team. Where Raphael had fallen, Michelangelo managed to prevail. He watched as the three other fighters now were stunned at his accomplishment, if anything it made him feel a little better about his own level of skill, and even quite proud of himself. He blinked when he had noticed the Chinese woman in the blue qi pao now stepping forward, clasping her right fist in the palm of her left hand and bowed respectfully. “Well, now that Ken and Guile have seemingly had their fun, I hope you boys wouldn’t mind in finding a dance partner with me.” Chun-Li smiled warmly as she stood from her bow. Michelangelo, Leonardo and Donatello looked at one another before looking down to Raphael, who remained unconscious for the moment. Michelangelo motioned his left hand out, gesturing either Donatello or Leonardo to go one ahead. Both Leonardo and Donatello looked at one another, but it was Leonardo who would give up his chance to go next as he motioned for the intellectual Turtle to take his chance. As Donatello was about to step onward, the elder sibling now moved his right hand out and placed it upon Donatello’s shoulders, stopping him briefly only to speak to him in a whispered voice. “I hope you learned some tricks from watching Mike. These guys are good. So, you need to make them fight your fight. You’ve got the advantage of reaching with your bo, Don. So, make capital on that. And it’s also a defensive weapon too.” Leonardo spoke. “Yeah, I know. We have the master, you know. Plus, this staff also has electric shock capabilities, remember?” Donatello whispered. “I hadn’t forgotten. Still, no reason to be complacent. You’ve got any other gadgets?” “Umm… My electro and exploding shurikens and the Roomba. It shoots lasers.” “Make whatever use you can, Don. But remember to put work with skill too. Remember, you’ve come a long way too. You beat that big Canadian cyborg with that beam cannon in his chest with skill. You can do it again.” “Check! Got it!” Donatello nodded as he now stepped forward to meet his opponent. Donatello now jogged his way to where Chun-Li stood waiting for her opponent. The red masked intellectual Turtle moved his right arm up and he took hold of his metal bo-staff within his grasp and then drew it from its harness, now spinning it as he motioned it down and tucked it underneath his right arm. The red masked ninja bowed forward and he took in a light breath of air through his nostrils and released an anxious sigh from within. Chun-Li smiled warmly to the Turtle and gave an encouraging nod to him. “I hope you’re as talented as your friend with the chucks! Show me what you’ve got!” Chun-Li kept her smile as she snapped into her Kenpo fighting stance. “You’ll find out I’m full of surprises!” Donatello chuckled. Donatello wrapped both hands around the center of his electric bo-staff, now spinning the weapon before he snapped himself into his bojutsu fighting stance, now keeping eye contact with the Chinese fighter. Chun-Li and Donatello circled around one another, sizing each other up before they rushed to clash with one another.
  4. I'm genuinely surprised to see the results, especially considering that this is Michelangelo, who is often wrongly perceived as the happy go-lucky party Turtle who doesn't train consistently which his 1987 toon counterpart set as the standard. And a total of ten votes total between Mikey and Guile. Very nice! Definitely a well deserved victory for Michelangelo!
  5. Thanks for commenting! I totally get that real life does come first and takes priority, because I myself sometimes get locked up in doing work and then needing to take time off for myself to cool down after rough weeks upon weeks in working in the realm of retail. And I cannot imagine what it must be like to take care of a small one. It has to be challenging. Yeah, the participation just isn't really there anymore. The old CBUB days were definitely more active, but there were also a lot of naysayers out there when it came to my Predator matches. I am glad that you enjoy what I put out, and I am very happy to know that to you I am an inspiration! Also, thank you for your breakdown for the match. Yeah, I know you brought up Last Ronin Michelangelo, but it's been established that through out the TMNT Multiverse, Mikey is always considered to be the most talented of the brothers, but he rarely does apply himself, but when he does apply himself in training or a fight-- he is a forced to be reckoned with just as much as Raphael, maybe even more.
  6. I would say Starkiller, but he definitely wouldn't be able to kill Wolverine. He can put him down, but he ain't killing him.
  7. I was hoping for Raphael to win because he's my favorite Turtle and I think a win against Ken would have really been beneficial for him and his reputation in the eyed of other CBUBers. In fact, all of the previous matches were always going to lead up to fighting the fan favorite Street Fighter characters, and surprisingly, IDW and Capcom beat me to the punch. Also excellent breakdown here as far as this fight goes but here is something to consider. Michelangelo has beaten Raphael in a sparring session rather easily before early in their career and his reactions against Raphael seemed to be quite instinctual. This could come to play against Guile. https://imgur.com/RtFaCCj https://imgur.com/SOShYpA
  8. Getting engagements from the readers has been very difficult and motivation to write more has been low for me, especially considering my last match up and how it got very little reaction from readers despite the number of votes for the previous contestants.
  9. Tried it. It's still not there.
  10. The rename character function for Character Admins appears to be missing on character profiles. Is there a way this can be re-instituted or is there a newer alternative means to accomplish renaming a character that I am unaware of?
  11. It was either going to be Donatello or Michelangelo going up against Guile. In the comic, Donatello went up against Ken Masters and surprisingly... was actually holding his own. Mind you, this was the IDW Donatello we're talking about. Whether or not Mirage Donatello would be able to hold his own against Ken or Guile... is left up to speculation. But I feel like this is perhaps going to be Michelangelo's big break here, especially going up against a fight veteran like Guile. Thanks for commenting!
  12. I would say Steve, since he probably has experience in dealing with Ender Dragons. Plus, if he has either Diamond or Netherite armor and weapons, with Mending and Unbreakability III infused into them... He's got this!
  13. The next match in the Mirage TMNT storyline continues after a bit of a long hiatus! Hopefully this match will be a good one and maybe even get some better responses than the last match up. Speaking of the last match up, I will say that I probably should've expected those results to come out the way they did. After all, Ken Masters is one of the most popular characters in Street Fighter, and maybe popularity played something of a part in the results with them coming out the way they did. I don't know. But none the less, at least the votes were close with a two point difference between Raphael and Ken Masters, and the loss even put Raphael at the very top of the CBUB contenders list, and that was something which I've been trying to get Raphael to achieve-- albeit I wanted to shoot for a perfect record but I guess nobody is perfect here on the CBUB. Although, I am confused to why Ken still won the last match, despite the fact that Raphael's fought opponents who were just as skilled, if not more powerful than Ken Masters in this arc... Are SNK's KOF characters just not equal to Capcom's Street Fighter characters, despite the two companies officially collaborating and crossing over? Anyway, like the last match before-- we're going with a different match up than Capcom and IDW's official TMNT vs Street Fighter collaboration, and instead of Michelangelo fighting Chun-Li, I had opted to go for Michelangelo vs Guile. To me, Michelangelo vs Chun-Li was just too obvious of a match up and I didn't want to repeat what IDW and Capcom did in the comics with IDW Michlangelo being too friendly and perhaps even attracted to Chun-Li, which might have played a part in Michelangelo not wanting to fight and throwing the match against Chun-Li. So, I had decided that in contrast to having two fighters having a care free and fluid way of fighting, why not have Michelangelo go up against Guile? And keep in mind, Michelangelo, specifically Mirage Michelangelo here, WANTS to fight, and he is FOCUSED. I figure this would be a match more interesting match. Hopefully, this one will illicit more comments and responses from readers. -- Michelangelo is Low Tier Superhuman in terms of physicals. 14. Fury burned within Raphael’s eyes as he glared to his opponent. The red masked ninja quickly turned with his weight, pumping his right and left arm out as he gripped the handles of his twin sai, the ends protruding from between his fingers as he moved them out for his opponent’s mid-section. Ken quickly turned with his hips and he positioned his forearms vertically, moving his arms inwardly to divert Raphael’s thrusting attacks quickly but then the red masked Turtle swung his right arm upward in an uppercut, intending on striking the blunt handle end directly for Ken’s chin. The United States Martial Arts champion leaned to his left, evading the incoming blow as swiftly as he could, responding only by pouncing forward and he thrust his right arm outward to slam in his fist into the Turtle’s face. Raphael crossed his arms out in front of himself, blocking the fist solidly before he swung his arms upward, forcing an opening for him to exploit as he leaned forward and snapped his left leg out in a front kick for Ken’s chest, but Ken Masters hopped back and he slapped the kick down with his right hand only to then respond with a shift forward and jabbed his left and right out, only to turn in a spin to his right and he arced his right leg high and across in a spinning back wheel kick for the mutant’s head. Raphael quickly hunched down, evading the incoming kick before he shot himself to rise up and pounced forward, now thrusting his right knee up and firmly struck Ken directly in the chin, forcing the U.S. Martial Arts champion to stumble back. The red masked ninja turned in a spin to his left and he swung his left hand across, firmly gripping his sai handle as he performed a spinning back fist and firmly struck Ken directly across his left cheek, causing the American fighter to stumble to the side. Raphael followed up by thrusting his right arm out and impacted the handle of his sai into Ken’s solar plexus, leaning in with his weight to add more power to the blow. “GUH!” Ken gasped as the air was forced from his lungs. Raphael quickly swung his left arm across, slamming his left hand firmly into Ken’s right cheek and again forced the American martial artist to stumble to the side. Not wanting to waste this opportunity, Raphael snapped his right leg across in a mighty roundhouse kick aimed at Ken’s mid-section and his foot immediately found its mark and blasted Ken directly in the ribs. The blonde half-Japanese fighter widened his eyes, feeling his ribs compress and again felt the air being pushed out from his lungs as a stinging pain was left behind. Whoever his opponent was, whatever his opponent was… Ken realized that he was a lot stronger than he appeared and was coming at him seriously. Raphael quickly rolled his arms outward in a series of quick thrusts as he moved his sai for Ken’s chest, but Ken instead responded by slapping his hands down, diverting the Turtle’s attack down. Raphael leaned forward and he snapped his right leg out in a front kick as he intended to slam his foot into Ken’s face, but Ken hopped and moved to his right, evading the Turtle quickly before he responded with his own attack. The red gi clad fighter swung his left arm across, intending to beat his fist fiercely into the side of the Turtle’s face. Raphael hunched down to evade the incoming blow. Ken responded to this by focusing his Ki to flow down to his feet, and he turned in a spin before he pushed himself to be airborne. He threw his weight across, and raised his right leg as he spun through the air six quick times, intending on smacking his foot into his opponent. “TATSUMAKI SENPUU KYAKU!” Ken shouted. Raphael widened his eyes, and he felt a series of quick strikes moving across his face as he stumbled back. After having landed the swift attack, Ken padded feet first onto the arena floor and zeroed right on the Turtle as he jabbed his left arm out twice, striking Raphael directly onto his forehead before he leaned in and pumped his right arm out in a straight fierce. A wash of pain moved through Raphael’s head, and his senses were momentarily jarred. Ken turned to spin, and he snapped his right leg out in a straight side kick for Raphael’s plastron protected mid-section and slammed the edge of his foot into his opponent’s body. The red masked ninja grunted and twitched his left eye in discomfort and frustration, but to Ken’s surprise… he felt a hardness where his struck. And he had come to the potential realization that shell either might be the real thing or was some sort of armored part of a really well-made cosplay. But not wanting to give his opponent much recovery time, Ken pulled his leg back and raised it high, only to bring it down in a swift axe kick and slammed his heel onto the top of the Turtle’s head. “DAMN IT!” Raphael grunted. Ken immediately reached out with his arms and took hold of Raphael around the back of his head, now pulling him into a clutch. The red gi clad American fighter then thrust his right knee up, slamming it directly into the mutant Red Ear Slider’s head four quick times. Raphael now felt the frustration within growing stronger, and he widened his eyes as he clenched his teeth before he leaned up and threw his arms up and apart to break the clutch. Ken widened his eyes as he felt the strength the Turtle possessed and dropped his jaw in momentary surprise. Raphael spun his sai within his hands, throwing them upward directly in Ken’s face, causing the red gi clad man to flinch and lean back. The Turtle immediately pounced forward, and he swung his right elbow out, firmly striking Ken directly into the side of his head. A throbbing pain moved across Ken’s head, and a pressure built within his ears as a ringing pain emanated within. Raphael grinned upon seeing his opponent stunned and would capitalize on that by rolling his arms out, striking Ken Masters directly in his rib cage with the blunt ends of his twin sai. Ken felt the weapons pummeling into him, forcing air out from him while also beating into his pectoral muscles, leaving red markings behind with each impact. Those were going to bruise as time would go on. Following with this assault, Raphael then swung his left arm upward, slamming his fist into Ken’s chin with tremendous force. Ken felt his jaw jutting forward, his bottom teeth grinding against his upper set of teeth, and the throbbing in his head intensified only to be piled on with pain in his jaw and teeth. The red masked ninja moved his hands down and slipped his twin sai into his belt, only to now rush in and he slipped to his opponent’s blindside and moved behind him. Raphael moved his arms, wrapping them around Ken’s mid-section and now lifted with his legs only to lean back and dropped Ken’s weight to the ground, allowing gravity to do most of the work and slammed the American martial artist’s back onto the arena floor, landing a mighty suplex. “OUCH! That has GOT to hurt!” Michelangelo chuckled. Chun-Li winced her dark colored eyes as she felt the strength behind the suplex. Surely, that would have to be something which Ken wouldn’t be able to shake off so easily. Guile furrowed his brows and crossed his arms, taking the time to observe the fight and watch what these newcomers could potentially be capable of. Ryu… remained silent and stoic, noting the potential which Ken’s opponent seemed to possess. Raphael scrambled to now move on top of his opponent, straddling onto him and now took aim at Ken’s face. The red masked ninja now swung and pumped his arms out, slamming his fist down into the blonde fighter’s head with as much fury and strength that he could pile on. Ken felt each mighty impact hitting into him, causing the throbbing in his head to increase to a sharp pain moving through his very head. It almost felt as if his very skull wanted to explode from the sheer strength which the Turtle furiously piled onto him. Ken raised his arms up, taking the blows into his forearms, as he then threw his weight to the left to get the Turtle off from him. Raphael felt a shift in his weight and found himself dropping onto his side before he quickly scrambled to his feet. Fighting through the migraine that Raphael had bestowed on him, Ken flipped himself onto his feet, despite the brief vertigo which came after the swift motion. Realizing his opponent was dangerous in close quarters, the red gi clad fighter decided to change tactics. He attuned himself to the energy within himself and felt this power in the form of a rushing tingle, directing it to flow through his entire body and channeled it through his arms and into his hands. Ken took aim at the Turtle, now throwing his arms and hands out as he fired off a sphere of blue colored energy from his palms. “HADOUKEN!” Raphael drew and spun his twin sai within his hands and he swung his weapons apart in a reverse scissors fashion, using his twin sai to pierce and dissipate the energy. Ken widened his eyes in disbelief, but quickly recovered from the initial shock and drew upon the energy once more, again firing off a volley of glowing blue spheres from his hands. “HADOUKEN! HADOUKEN! HADOUKEN! HADOUKEN!” Raphael swiftly zipped from right to left as he zeroed right in on his opponent, aiming to close the gap between himself and Ken Masters. He had come far in this tournament and already learned to cope with enemies who were capable of releasing energy projectiles. As soon as Ken moved his arms back and cupped his hands, Raphael pushed himself to the air and pounced high and towards his opponent only to thrust his hands down, his sai facing downward. “I’ve fought too many people like you to get caught up in those blasts!” Raphael shouted. Ken hopped back from the twin sai, feeling the breeze as they had come down at him. As Raphael landed, Ken quickly leaned forward and snapped his left leg out in a front kick for Raphael’s chest before he jabbed his left arm out and then followed up with an uppercut to the chin. Raphael took the front kick directly in his plastron, no-selling the attack but he weaved under the incoming jab and leaned back from the uppercut. Ken raised his left leg up and swung it across to the left in a reversal crescent kick, moving his foot for Raphael’s face but the red masked ninja leaned back from the kick quickly. Ken directed the energy to move through his very body and channeled it to move through his right arm and hand and pushed himself to a leap only to now swing his right arm up as he now aimed to uppercut the Turtle directly in the chin. “SHORYUKEN!” Pain moved through Raphael’s chin as he felt his head snapping back followed by a throbbing pain in his jaw. Raphael shot his eyes open, shooting a fiery glare at the red gi glad Martial Artist as he was on his way down from the technique he had unleashed. He pounced forward, now pushing himself to a leap and he threw his weight to the right and snapped his left leg out to perform a jumping back thrust kick. Ken felt a mighty compression moving into his body and a sudden sharp pain moved up into his chest. He fell onto his rear from the sheer strength of the impact, and now clutched at his body as he fought to regain his breath. Ken coughed furiously, but each time he did so— only added to the pain which the Turtle had inflicted upon him. He had been down this route before, fought too many battles to not recognize this pain. Ken knew that he might have to finish this fight quickly, otherwise his now cracked ribs were going to cost him this very fight. “Raphael’s doing really good out there! Keep it up, bro!” Donatello spoke out. Leonardo knew his brother well, even having fought with him a few times. Raphael was skilled and extremely strong, that much he had to give him credit for. However, he had seen what Raphael’s opponent was capable of in this fight— and he saw that he had a high level of skill which complimented the power he possessed. The field leader of the Turtles looked over to the opposing team, noting their calm demeanor as they watched the fight. He had come to the deduction that this was not their first tournament. They were veterans in their own right. Leonardo returned his sights to the battle ahead of him. If Raphael had any hopes of winning… He needed to fight smart and keep the pressure on Ken. Ken placed his hands to the ground and pushed himself to his feet. He took in a deep breath of air through his nose and felt pain shooting through his very chest. He coughed as he exhaled, and now focused on fighting through the pain. It was perhaps the only thing which he could do at this point to keep himself in the fight. Raphael spun his sai within his hands, only to thrust his left arm out as he moved his sai in a stabbing thrust for Ken’s chest. Ken quickly shifted back with a step, and he moved his right arm defensively outward and across, using his forearm to move at Raphael’s own wrist and diverted the weapon away from himself. The red masked ninja roared out in a mighty yell as he thrust his right arm out with the other sai in the same manner of attack, but again Ken shifted back with another step and he moved his left arm in the same manner, diverting the incoming attack away from himself. Raphael pulled his arms back and he thrust his sai down for Ken’s shoulders, but the U.S. Martial Arts champion shifted back with another step, and he positioned his right forearm up and horizontally, stopping the downward thrust from hitting their mark. However, Raphael leaned in with his weight as he swung his right leg down across to the left, striking his foot into the side of Ken’s leg. “AARGH!” Ken yelled in agony. Ken’s leg felt as if a knife had been pierced through it. More than likely, it was going to bruise, and this may even affect his mobility. If he sustained any more hits like this, then the Turtle was going to win. He winced his eyes in expression of the pain which was piling onto him. Whoever this guy is, he’s tough! I just… can’t keep this going for long! Raphael roared out in fury now as he spun his twin sai and now punched his arms out as he held the handles in reverse, intending on striking them directly into Ken’s face. But the United States Martial Arts champion snapped himself into a side straddle stance and raised his left arm up, parrying and diverting the blocks away from himself. Raphael pounced forward, now thrusting his right arm out in a leaping fierce punch but Ken maintained his stance and blocked the attack with his forearm, now feeling the pressure focusing there. The red masked ninja swung his left leg across in a roundhouse kick, moving with the momentum to now spin and arced his right leg back across in a spinning back wheel kick for Ken’s head, but Ken… instinctively shifted back and kept his stance, blocking with the same arm. Raphael leapt and he somersaulted over his opponent, landing behind him only to turn in a spin and he swung his right arm back across in a spinning back swing before moving his left arm across in a hook punch, with the handle of his sai protruding from between his knuckles. Ken turned in a spin, entering that side straddle stance and blocked with his right arm once more, deflecting the attacks as he shifted back. Ken thrust his left arm outward, impacting Raphael directly in the forehead before he swung his right arm upward in an uppercut. Raphael felt a mighty impact slamming into his chin, forcing his head to snap back. Ken directed the energy within himself to flow down to his legs and he pushed himself forward and up, now spinning through the air as he raised his right leg up, striking Raphael hard across his head several times. A throbbing pain moved through the Turtle’s head, and he stumbled from the impacts. Ken quickly landed feet first onto the ground, and he directed his energy to flow through his arms and into his hands, now thrusting them out and fired off another Hadouken at point blank to Raphael. The hot-tempered Turtle grunted as he felt an impact slamming into his plastron as he was bombarded by the blast of Ki. Ken, still attuned to this energy, now focused it to channel throughout his entire body. Directing the flow to his right hand, he felt a powerful rush in his fist. Willing the energy to ignite, Ken’s fist burst with flames, and he turned downward in a spin, only to push himself high up into the air as he spun furiously, impacting Raphael directly in the chin as he seemed to become a living pillar of flame. “SHINRYUUKEN!” Raphael felt his body being lifted off from the ground, along with a burning pain moving through his entire body. The pain was intense, and he had only felt flames like these from his battle with Iori Yagami but this time, it didn’t seem to so much as stop. Suddenly what came next was a sense of weightlessness and then... gravity. Raphael hit the ground flat on his carapace, and he grunted upon impact. Ken descended to the ground, his leg shooting with pain upon landing, and this caused him to wince and hiss in pain. He looked over to the Turtle and watched as he writhed. Soon, Raphael went limp and lay there on the ground. Raphael breathed heavily before his eyes closed, and soon… darkness. Ken counted down in his head, and when the countdown finished… He turned and limped his way to his teammates, before dropping to his knees. At least now he could get some rest. Michelangelo widened his eyes in shock, and Donatello quickly rushed over to Raphael, who lay unconscious and battered. Leonardo blinked upon seeing his brother, now having suffered his first and only defeat in the tournament. “What just happened?!” Donatello spoke out as he now hunched down to examine Raphael, placing his hands on the now unconscious ill-tempered Turtle. “Dude, we totally lost our tank! What do we do?!” Michelangelo frantically looked to his siblings. “….We learn from this and fight better.” Leonardo replied. “Ken, are you going to be alright?” Ryu asked as he looked down to his friend and training partner. “Oh yeah! I’m gonna be fine! I just need five… maybe fifteen… Ugh. I’m gonna feel this for the next month.” Ken chuckled. “Well, since we got the first round… Who is going to go next?” Chun-Li asked. “Guess it’ll be my turn then.” Guile responded. The Colonel now moved his right hand down to his pocket and drew out a comb, now brushing his hair up before taking a step forward and approaching the middle of the arena. He had looked over to the Turtles, first setting his sights down on the unconscious Raphael before he looked over to Michelangelo, Donatello and Leonardo. Donatello moved his hands underneath Raphael’s shoulders, tugging his unconscious sibling back. When Raphael had been dragged to a safe spot away from the fighting, the red masked intellectual Turtle watched as Guile approached. Donatello blinked his eyes as he now moved his right arm back, now taking hold of his metal electric bo-staff within his grasp and drew the weapon out. “Guess it’s my turn.” Donatello spoke. “No. Mikey… You go next.” Leonardo said. “Wait, Leo… I got this!” Donatello interjected. Michelangelo blinked at the order which Leonardo had given him. This was odd for his eldest sibling to refuse another from claiming their spot in a fight and ordering another one out. But in the time in which he and his siblings fought together as ninja, Michelangelo damn well knew better than to question Leonardo’s leadership. When he suggested something or had given an order, it usually was for good reason. Michelangelo moved his hands down and then took hold of his twin nunchaku but not before looking between Donatello and Leonardo. The eldest sibling approached the brainy sibling, leaning forward to whisper. “This isn’t the opposing team’s first rodeo. We need a level of unpredictability to throw them off. And right now, Michelangelo’s got that unpredictability and element of surprise to him.” Leonardo spoke. Donatello blinked at this, and he simply now looked over to the younger sibling before returning his attention to Leonardo. In defeat, Donatello nodded and stepped back. Leonardo turned and moved to approach Michelangelo. The eldest and youngest siblings stared at each other, eye to eye. Michelangelo felt a sense of tension in the air all around him as he stared at Leonardo and took in a light breath of air through his nose and released a sigh from within to undo that uneasiness. “Raphael’s down. It’s just the three of us remaining. You need to be careful out there. These guys are veterans. They’ve probably been doing this for a long time. So right now, you need to get serious and focused. I know what you can do when you really apply yourself.” Leonardo nodded. Michelangelo now looked over to the unconscious form of Raphael as he was being examined and tended to by Donatello. A sense of sympathy went out to his brother, and he never really did like it when he saw one of his own down and out. Michelangelo looked to Leonardo and was reminded of the time when a resurrected Oroku Saki had beaten him to near death and tossed him through April’s 2nd Time Around antique store. Michelangelo knew the gravity of the situation ahead of himself, and now readied his nerves. “I get you, Leo… I totally get you.” Michelangelo whispered. The wily Turtle, now focused and taking the situation seriously, now took a step forward and approached the middle of the arena. He looked over to Guile, who already seemed to be cracking his knuckles and turning his head from side to side, popping the joints in his neck. The Colonel clenched his hands firmly into fists, now squaring his shoulders as he set himself into a boxer’s stance. “Alright, let’s do this, G.I. Joe.” Michelangelo snarked. The wily Turtle spun his nunchaku, twirling them furiously as he set himself into his own fighting stance. Michelangelo had a goal, and he was dead set focused on achieving it.
  15. Personally, I feel like Raphael was robbed of what could've been a very good win for him and maybe a milestone for the Mirage TMNT. I really don't understand how Raphael could have lost, considering that I've established in this arc that the experience the Turtles acquire in their fights was going to be a major element, and Raphael's fought plenty of SNK's heavy hitters, but he wasn't able to take on Ken Masters? It doesn't really make any sense to me. He's carried his team when it came to a grueling fight against Team Fatal Fury, defeating Joe Higashi, Mai Shiranui and Terry Bogard-- the last one established through general consensus that he's just as skilled, if not more powerful and better experienced than Ken. Do you see what I'm getting at? Well, now I have to figure out how to go about this and what the next match is going to be.
  16. It's called The Warrior Returns and it's basically an Anti-Isekai story. Tom Talks enthusiastically describes it perfectly here. So imagine if... You ARE THE SOUTH KOREAN GOVERNMENT!
  17. Yeah... Not too happy about the results here, nor am I happy about the lack of feedback here. Really disappointed.
  18. Yeah, that was something which I wanted to get across in the recap-- a sense of intensity and uncertainty which... actually was something elemental even in terms of the votes when it came to Leonardo's match against Geese. And with a one point difference, the fight was EXTREMELY close. While there is a power gap between Leonardo and Geese, the favor being of the latter, I would think that Leonardo would've made up for it in intensity, perseverance and skill. After all, out of all the Turtles, even in the Mirage continuity, he alone was able to stand up to Oroku Saki in the first meeting, and even soundly and rather, with high difficulty, even defeat the Shredder where as the rest of his brothers were unable to. So that should speak volumes about Leonardo's level of skill, even if we look at strictly canon. As far as this match is concerned... I can say that I am rather disappointed with the lack of interactivity and commentary over the last few days. It took me a LONG time to write up this match and to try and get back into the groove of things. Don't get me wrong, I get that people can't always be here to read but... five or so days is enough to get SOMETHING and I know people are more focused on the tournament, so that kind of takes the fun out of doing this, you know? You breakdown is pretty sound, and hopefully people will keep in mind of Raphael's level of skill and tenacity against someone like Ken Masters. Even in terms of this storyline, Raphael's fought people who were even stronger and more powerful than Ken, specifically in reference to Terry Bogard and I was hoping that people would keep that in mind and then being forced to think really hard on how this match would go. After all, the Turtles experience does come to play here and even if we look at canon, all of the Turtles, even Raphael have fought opponents that even Ken would be flabbergasted to know that they exist (the Triceratons, Bloodsucker, Cronus, and the mythological figures in the Hall of Lost Legends). Some food for thought. Thanks for commenting.
  19. Not much can really harm or even compete with Juggernaut. Even the Hulk at some points was badly beaten by him, but this was Seventh Day Juggernaut too. World Breaker Hulk might be the only one to compete against Juggernaut. Maybe Sentry too.
