14:15 - Mordenkainen vs. Acererak
RakaiThwei replied to UMPIRE's topic in CBUB Fantasy Draft Matches
I have only played a modified version of Curse of Strahd, namely Pyram King's version of the game-- but OFFICIALLY, Mordenkainen DID confront Strahd. As for Eve of Vecna, that is SUPPOSED to be a campaign which is a sequel to Curse of Strahd, or it can be even a prequel. I do know that Vecna is indeed tied into Curse of Strahd-- as he is the reason why Strahd is the powerful archmage Vampire he is, if only through his Dark Patron Vampyr, who was orginally Kas-- until Vecna turned Kas into Vampyr. Buuuuut I've not played Eve of Vecna, but I do know that Mordenkainen more than likely is familiar with Dark Magic. But if it's anything, there's Strahd's diary, which IS evil and corrupting towards player characters-- so if we go by CANON, Mordenkainen is likely VERY familiar with this challenge, as in Curse of Strahd, one of the pre-requisites to defeat Strahd is to get his diary and read it to find the clues to defeating him. -
14:15 - Mordenkainen vs. Acererak
RakaiThwei replied to UMPIRE's topic in CBUB Fantasy Draft Matches
I would say that Mordenkainen has definitely some experience in dealing with and against the Darker Magics-- especially considering that he's constantly gone up against one of the most powerful Dark Mages such as Vecna and Strahd Von Zarovich (in 5e, Mordenkainen had been driven insane by Strahd until he was restored by a player group). I would think that seeing as Mordenkainen who has dealt with someone like Vecna, especially most recently in the Eve of Vecna campaign-- he might come up in the upper hand here. -
14:9 - Sailor Neptune vs. Natsu Dragneel
RakaiThwei replied to UMPIRE's topic in CBUB Fantasy Draft Matches
Sailor Neptune... The moment she gets into her Eternal Sailor Neptune form-- which is arguably galaxy to universal level... Yeah, Natsu's done. And if you're crunching time, then the power gap is QUICKLY apparent and he is done for. -
14:9 - Leonardo (IDW) vs. Fatman the Human Flying Saucer
RakaiThwei replied to UMPIRE's topic in CBUB Fantasy Draft Matches
No, I'm not missing the point. This is something that the Turtles through out the various incarnations have faced one way or another-- and in the case of the IDW comics, this is something that they have faced numerous times and Leonardo has been in this position-- even being directly responsible for the City Fall events when he was Dark Leonardo. You also have to remember that IDW TMNT is more grounded compared to the 1987 cartoon and even the 2003, and 2012 series-- so the Turtles were always going to be facing some form of discrimination because they happen to be Mutant Turtles. You know, kind of like what the X-Men face, except being a whole lot less involved with who is boinking who and being a lot less porny than the X-Men. From the sound of what you're saying of the Fatman, it seems like as if everything was just straight up handed to him. Now, I haven't read a Fatman comic and maybe I should look into them but it just seems like quick and bad writing that he hasn't face any legal ramifications, or even had to make an effort to clear his name-- which the Turtles had to do in the Jason Aaron run of IDW's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and they even went to court. And in the end, after having proved that the scandal was false-- the Turtles were now regarded as heroes and even celebrities in New York, and in the last few panels of issue 12 in IDW's TMNT, Times Square even had billboards and LED screens on buildings with signs in support of the Turtles, even pictures of the Turtles, and even signs asking "Who's your favorite Turtle?" and this was RIGHT after the Turtles proved their innocence and fought a severely mutated District Attorney Hale, who had become this hulking Chimeric monstrosity. I would say that the Turtles have more or less proven themselves, and EARNED their celebrity/status status in New York. The Turtles haven proven themselves multiple times, canonically, in a scenario like this-- especially in the IDW comics. -
14:9 - Leonardo (IDW) vs. Fatman the Human Flying Saucer

Except you're missing the point. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles across the various iterations usually end up in this situation regardless of the factors, it's a common recurring theme. Regardless of the who, why and the how-- the Turtles are usually portrayed as being menaces to society either in the various iterations, be it from Bern from Channel 6 news in the 1980's cartoon, or in this case of the IDW TMNT series, the Foot clan and District Attorney Hale. Do you realize how many times Leonardo has to pull in Raphael from his fits of rage, or even keep the team together while also doing his best to mitigate the damage done in the fighting with either the Foot clan, other Mutants (Tokka, Rahzar, Slash, Leatherhead, Punk Frogs), or even extraterrestrial factors? Quite a lot. More so than what a mutant Turtle of the teenage variety would have to deal with. In the fighting with the Gestapo Foot clan (which is what I call Hale's Foot clan police), Leonardo had to constantly keep his brothers who were fighting amongst themselves in check, all while trying to mitigate collateral damage, and even undo the SCANDAL (which is what District Attorney Hale did) that painted the Turtles as you, oh, so eloquently put as Turtle Monsters. The IDW comics do show the Turtles being put in events where damage has been done either by accident, coercion (Hob did create the Mutagen Bomb and deceived Raphael, who TRIED to stop the incident last minute when he found out what was happening-- see the Mutant Town storyline), or inability to straight up stop and were painted as the bad guys. At this point, a situation like this is almost routine for Leonardo. Hell... Leonardo has even BEEN responsible for such a situation when he was brainwashed by the Shredder, became Dark Leonardo, served as the Chunin for the Foot clan for a while, which lead to the City Fall storyline where his brothers had to straight up fight him, undo the brainwashing which was done, and save New York from the Shredder before fleeing to Northampton. He's redeemed himself in the eyes of his family, friends, and more importantly himself. And now, after fourteen years of storytelling (a whole lot less in-universe), of being seen as a Turtle Monster, Leonardo is straight up embraced by the people of New York, Human and Mutant citizens alike. -
14:9 - Leonardo (IDW) vs. Fatman the Human Flying Saucer
RakaiThwei replied to UMPIRE's topic in CBUB Fantasy Draft Matches
Except this has happened to Leonardo in the IDW comics. When District Attorney Hale went on a hate campaign against Mutants in New York City and went through TREMENDOUS lengths to frame the Turtles as accessories and perpetrators for a crime that Raphael didn't commit-- even going as far as to making TV and Press appearances, Leonardo his brothers and friends uncovered evidence of their own innocence and District Attorney Hale's false charges and unveiled his affiliation with the Foot clan that put New York in a state of Martial Law. When the Turtles were taken to court, the evidence which they found was more than enough to clear their names and unveil the truth. And after defeating Hale, New York ACCEPTED them as full of Heroes. I rest my case. -
14:8 - Mordenkainen vs. Elora Danan
RakaiThwei replied to UMPIRE's topic in CBUB Fantasy Draft Matches
Mordenkainen is NOT your typical fantasy Wizard-- he is one of the legendary Wizards in the Realms of Dungeons and Dragons, and is known for expanding the craft of Magic to where he has created several spells which went down in legend and have been named after him. In fact, player characters in DnD can LEARN Mordenkainen's spells. He's an originator and an innovator when it comes to magic. And to top it off-- he's also a planes walker, and has traversed many realms and universe in the realm of Dungeons and Dragons, and even has visited Earth. I would wager that whatever Elora can throw at him, he's encountered something like it and might have a counter for it. -
14:8 - Grace Sterling vs. Leonardo (IDW)
RakaiThwei replied to UMPIRE's topic in CBUB Fantasy Draft Matches
While Grace was the first Mighty Morphin' Red Ranger in the Boom! Studios Power Rangers Universe, let's remember that she wasn't exactly the ideal leader with her first Ranger team and she didn't even so much as have a grasp on how to really lead. And right after that DISASTROUS incident on the moon which resulted most of, if not all of her team getting killed or wanting to quit being Rangers, she quit after her FIRST day and then eventually founded the Silver Guardians organization years later. And Grace... is more of a boss than an actual leader. She'll use underhanded means to get what she wants or needs, strains relationships built on trust and cooperation... She's already on shaky ground with the Rangers. Where as with Leonardo-- well, this is his bread and butter. In almost EVERY incarnation of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, it's usually Leonardo who initiates the search to bring his brothers together. As a matter of fact-- in the Jason Aaron run of the IDW series, Leonardo DOES EXACTLY THAT after Raphael has imprisoned, Michelangelo becomes a Tokusatsu star in Japan, and Donatello seemingly has been apprehended and forced into a Mutant fight club. And when he has reunited with his brothers, they're at first unable to function because they're at each other's throats, and are unable to understand Donatello's seeming insanity (turns out Donnie WASN'T insane because Splinter WAS SPEAKING to Don through a dead rat). So after hearing Splinter's voice from the dead rat, Leonardo rallies his brothers and they're once again the full functional fighting team they really are. I would say this is definitely Leonardo's bread and butter here. Through out MOST TMNT incarnations. -
14:6 - Veronica Cale vs. Leonardo (IDW)
RakaiThwei replied to UMPIRE's topic in CBUB Fantasy Draft Matches
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are EXACTLY DOING THAT RIGHT NOW in the current IDW run, since the Foot clan and District Attorney Hale has painted them in such a negative light (including framing Raphael for the murder of a Prison Warden in Arizona) to where Mutant hate groups have formed (mostly the Foot masquerading as these Gestapo police or street thugs targeting innocent Mutants) to where Hale has influenced the public. The Turtles have even been arrested, taken to court, were tried for false crimes and when the evidence came (that the Turtles found) that everything they were charged with has been falsified and that Hale was manipulating everything from behind the scenes... QUICKLY their names were cleared and public opinion changed back to positive. Leo's got this. -
This is too close to call. Even in ECW, these two were always neck and neck. But Sabu did EVERYTHING for real. Dude even crazy glued his hand together after it was broken down the middle. But damn.. I gotta go with Sabu.

14:4 - Hualin vs. Valeria (Soulcalibur)
RakaiThwei replied to UMPIRE's topic in CBUB Fantasy Draft Matches
So basically a retail challenge... As someone who has worked in retail, specifically in the realm of cashiering, I can say that Hualin takes this-- BARELY. Now the challenge doesn't necessarily say WHAT is being sold but if there are weapons being sold, then this something which she can definitely edge out in. According to her backstory, she wants to be a weaponsmith and this gives her an edge in weapons craftmanship-- meaning she can HONESTLY look at a weapon, evaluate it's level of craftsmanship and tell, even recommend which weapons would be good for a customer's needs. The goal in sales is to SELL as MANY items as possible catered to a customer's needs. I've myself had to do this many times, as a customer had a project needed many items to get the results which the customer wants, and the end result is a bigger sale. Also, something which Hualin has which can make up for Valerias, ahem, assets-- and this is VERY true in the realm of retail, is that she has an upbeat and cheerful personality-- this is a BIG DRAW for customers and is definitely what keeps them coming back. It's also something which management definitely loves to hear from their customers. I would think that Hualin knows the sales tactics of her co-workers, including Valeria, and should be able to work around that to make honest, well informed, and well negotiated sales based around the customers needs. -
14:4 - Sailor Neptune vs. Laocorn Gaudeamus
RakaiThwei replied to UMPIRE's topic in CBUB Fantasy Draft Matches
Laocorn really didn't do any training per se-- as the only thing he did in the Fatal Fury anime was pretty much acquired the first piece of the Armor of Mars and it boosted his seemingly non-existent power level to immense levels of power. Then he would go around the world and acquiring more pieces of the armor and got more, and more powerful. So really... he didn't really EARN that power, but was more or less manipulated by the trace essences of Gaudeamus to reacquire the armor and reconstitute himself-- only to be taken down by a much more determined, boosted Terry Bogard. Sailor Neptune has been in the battle field after having been awakened, and while we don't necessarily see the circumstances-- she was the first of the Outer Senshi to get into active service and was fighting monsters all on her own until coming across Haruka, otherwise known as Sailor Uranus, whom she helped awaken to her duties as a Sailor Senshi. She got more powerful when she acquired her talisman, the Deep Aqua Mirror. However, unlike Laocorn, she EARNED her power up without being manipulated. And over time, she acquired more power ups when she became Super Sailor Neptune, and then Eternal Sailor Neptune. Now... if we compare the two at the peak of their power, and go by lore-- Sailor Neptune canonically, is more powerful than Laocorn, even with the Armor of Mars acquired. The Sailor Senshi Lambda forms put them somewhere to planetary or universal levels of power. Which is... INSANE. If we take Sailor Neptune and Laocorn, and put them through a training regimen in compressed time down to a year... the pre-existing power gap between them would only get WIDER. At first, Laocorn would be ahead, but Sailor Neptune would QUICKLY... QUICKLY catch up and surpass Laocorn as her Lambda form would be LEAGUES ahead of Laocorn even with the acquired Armor of Mars. Sailor Neptune wins.- 1 reply

Mr. Ogg is literally the Mr. Mxyzptlk of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise and is one of the most powerful entities in the franchise-- ranging from reality warping powers, to multidimensional travel, and even so much as transporting other versions of the TMNT to face off each other in the upcoming Battle Nexus comic by IDW. We've only seen two instances of Mr. Ogg in the original cartoon series, and twice so far in the continuing comic series Saturday Morning Adventures by IDW but he has been shown to perform physics defying or even straight physics breaking feats, even transmutating object or straight up conjuration. In the context of the 1980's TV series, Mr. Ogg is a living cartoon character. I say Ogg gets the win.

14:1 - Captain America (Ultimate) vs. Leonardo (IDW)
RakaiThwei replied to UMPIRE's topic in CBUB Fantasy Draft Matches
You know what...? I'm not even mad. I'm okay with this. -
Because of Ash's nature as a synthetic-- he doesn't even really need to breathe. Not to mention as a Synthetic, he is somewhat hardier than a human being because Synthetics don't necessarily feel pain, and they can be torn apart and maintain some level of functionality as we've seen evidenced in many of the Alien films-- such as Bishop being torn apart in two by the Xenomorph Queen. Also, we've seen a Synthetic surviving on an uncharted planet-- namely David in Covenant when he was on the Engineer world. Ash being the science officer of the Nostromo, he would take the time to make the best uses of his resources and understand the world which he is on. And given that he doesn't necessarily need to eat, doesn't need to sleep, doesn't need to breathe, his chances are fairly high here.
