    CBUB Character Submission Images

Put your image here for your character submission. Images 300 pixels X 300 pixels square. You can use an online image cropper tool to crop your image to 300 x 300 before uploading.
  2. OK, thanks for that. Still a couple things to take care of.
  3. Seems okay. Note, you do need to go to the Control Panel first for the Admin tab to show up on those pages. I was trying to make it so you didn't have to, but that was making every character page perform a log-in check which is kind of a heavy process for pages that get a lot of traffic and are supposed to be returned fast. That was probably the source of the issue. I removed that. So, swing by the Control Panel first to get authenticated for the Admin functions on character sheets.
  4. Updated CBUB database navigation https://cbub.comicbookuniversebattles.com/cbub/cbubcats/
  5. If you are having an issue using CBUB control panel, log out and then log back in.
  6. That's called an A.I. hallucination. We are in the process of integrating AI with our website at the company I work at. There is some concern about A.I. hallucinations. That's when an AI model generates content that appears to be coherent and realistic but is entirely fabricated by the model without any basis in reality. I mean, in the context of the CBUB, I think it is less of an issue. The topic here is mostly about fictional characters with fictional powers. I personally have hallucinated that characters have powers they don't many times.
  7. After researching it a bit, probably the AWS AI service Bedrock would be a good option. There are several AI models to select from, and since this is in AWS it's going to be easy to use. Also, that AWS AI service can generate images, so it might make it easier for people who have trouble getting a 300x300 pixel image for a character addition. Because most of the characters in the CBUB database are using wiki pages which are mostly useless, I'm strongly considering writing a program to just have all of them updated by AI providing details on the character.
  8. I think that Slider that was on the old version of the board was a purchase from the Invision marketplace. May need a new one compatible with this new version.
  9. After thinking about it, I began to wonder why we would need to use a website like Wikipedia to get text on a character given the current available technology. If someone submits a character, we can just ask an A.I. to produce the text. Specifically, what we are usually interested in, have it list the character's talents and powers. Example conversation about it with Chat GPT. I think this demonstrates that Open A.I. can provide character text. https://chat.openai.com/share/22dd8d2f-2cd2-4ff2-bcd8-bc487182334b When a person submits a character, the website can ask Chat GPT about it using the Open A.I. API to make the query. The data from the query will be stored in the database, and displayed on the character page. Any thoughts about that? It is a drag to have to count on online pages.
  10. I will look into it. I do want to try and make the site its best, at a technical level anyway, so is easier for the current team to deal with.
  11. This issue is resolved. The process which goes and gets Wikipedia entries runs every few hours, so the text may not show up on a new character for awhile. Just mentioning.
  12. When Wikipedia was new on the Internet, which kind of coincides with the character addition functionality, it was really great. They had separate Wikipedia pages for even the most trivial of comic characters. Since then, with all the article consolidation and removal over there, it's a less reliable source, for sure. Much of that detail on minor characters has moved to fan-based wikis like at Wikia. There are a couple possible possible solutions I can see. The first option might be switching to a resource like Comic Vine, which when I checked a couple years ago, had an API and a resource sharing policy. A couple random example pages: https://comicvine.gamespot.com/sailor-mars/4005-50515/ https://comicvine.gamespot.com/3-d-man-chandler/4005-43653/ The second option might be to let people adding a character on CBUB to input their own text on the character. Any thoughts on those?
  13. I would say the match builder interface is not really phone friendly. Have to turn the phone sideways and zoom sometimes to use the interface to create a match. I mean, me personally I don't think the match builder interface is phone friendly, but if people say it isn't broke then I guess it doesn't need to be fixed
  14. While the sword Robin Hood would have used is open to debate, give the time and place it was probably a variant of Oakeshott. Zorro is known to use a rapier. I believe that would be a heavier blade hack and slash sword fighting style against a lighter thrusting fighting style. In this match-up I personally think I would favor Zorro when both were 100%. However, if Zorro were to actually get tagged by the slashing blade it may greatly reduce is advantage.
