Gah, and I still haven't seen a Disney animated film since Pocahantas. 😐

Damn, I see that both "Belle" and "How Far I'll Go" were Oscar-nominated. I almost forgot how much Beauty and the Beast filled up the nomination slot for Best Song at the Oscars, though, and it actually won for Best Original Score.

I think this comes down to personal preference. Both are good songs. Personally, I think Belle's song is a classic, and while "How far I'll go" is a good song in its own right, it lacks the legacy of Belle's song. Personally, I prefer Belle here

I voted for Moana.  Belle is clearly more popular, but as far as singing, she just has short solos in "Belle" and "Wasn't there before", plus her short reprise of "Belle".  Moana was given more time to showcase her voice, which I think should make up for not being as classic as Belle.

I'm giving it to Belle. God knows how many times Moana has to sing about her god damn island in the movie and convince me to not care, but Belle singing one song about adventure makes me care tons. Quality over quantity.

I was hoping the princesses would have some kind singing competition. Close enough here. I'm going to choose based on quality of voice. I think Belle has the better voice. So I'll vote for her. I'm really looking forward to this category going forward. 

And ya'll better have some girls so you can watch all these movies every day for a month! (along with the Barbie movies)

I would put up Moana (Song of the Ancestors) against anything Belle has ever sung both in content and the way it builds to the notes at the end. Let's not forget that "Belle" the song is a group effort and the best song from Beauty and the Beast is sung by Mrs. Potts.

I’m leaning towards Moana, her songs like How Far I’ll Go and Song of the Ancestors were entirely her own, Belle’s were either a group song or a duet. (“Belle” and “Something There”)

The more I think about it, I think I'm inclined to agree with Pizzaguy and Leroypowell. Belle has a great voice and it's used well, but it's also used sparingly. Moana's song is much more of an "I want" song sung in earnest by just her, and I find her personal desire for adventure and reclaiming her ancestral calling on the sea to be more interesting than Belle's song, which, while pretty, boils down to "Gee, am I bored of this boring French town"
