Match 20204 Donatello (Mirage) vs. Billy Kane

Recommended Posts

The skeleton themed superhero immediately punched out with a mighty swing from his right as he zeroed it on the Turtle’s face. Saburo Nishikoyama had no real formal training, but on that very day he put on the costume for a department store, he had felt an overwhelming call to justice and had since learned the ropes on how to fight from his time as a vigilante by engaging against criminals and martial artists in his career as a hero. However, to his surprise— the red masked Terrapin moved his weapon to the left and deflected the blow quicker than he had ever expected. Skullomania felt the metal staff push against his wrist, diverting it away from its intended mark. Donatello spun his staff quickly, bringing the back end of the metal bo-staff for the top of Skullomania’s head. The superhero widened his eyes, his expression hidden behind his mask as he hopped to his right and quickly responded by swinging his left leg across, performing a roundhouse kick as he intended to land his foot onto his opponent’s mid-section. Donatello turned to face the skeleton themed hero, and he repositioned his bo-staff back and held it up, blocking the incoming kick rather easily before he repositioned his weapon horizontally, and swung both ends horizontally across, attempting to strike at Saburo Nishikoyama’s mid-section.

“ITAI! ITAI! ITAI!” Skullomania yelped as the Turtle’s weapon struck him firmly in his sides. Pain was something which was expected in his career as a superhero. However, even though he was used to such things— it didn’t mean it was any less pleasant. Times like this made Saburo wish he could somehow emulate the defensive powers of the heroes of Kamen Rider or Super Sentai.

Donatello pulled his staff back and then he quickly snapped his right leg diagonally up to the left, performing a roundhouse kick and he firmly kicked at Skullomania’s head before he turned in a spin and thrust his left leg back out and aimed for Skullomania’s chest. Saburo grunted and gasped as the Turtle’s foot impacted his sternum, causing him to double over and wheeze as he fought to regain his breath. Donatello then spun his staff in a figure eight motion, firmly impacting the skeleton themed superhero onto his shoulders, his arms and his legs. Skullomania clenched every muscle in his body, working to resist the pain which Donatello piled on him. He raised his arms up, working to keep himself defended against the red masked reptile’s weapon.

The intellectual Turtle tensed his leg muscles, only to push himself up to a leap and he threw his weight to the right only to thrust his right leg back as he performed a jumping spinning back thrust kick as he aimed at Skullomania’s chest. His foot landed its mark, causing Skullomania to fall back onto his rear.

Saburo hadn’t expected to quickly experience this kind of punishment so early on, and he briefly pondered if this opponent he was currently fighting was more than he had initially believed. With a grunt and the vast determination inside of himself, determination that was his greatest strength as hero, Skullomania pushed himself to his feet and he snapped into his own fighting stance.

Donatello blinked at seeing Skullomania getting back up to face him. He poked his tongue through his left cheek, now giving the skeleton themed superhero a nod of respect for him.

“Alright, I gotta give it to you… You’ve got guts.” Donatello spoke out.

“I might not speak the same language as you do! But I am a hero, and I cannot give up!” Skullomania spoke in Japanese.

The red masked ninja then rushed at Skullomania, only to swing his staff upward for the skeleton hero’s chin before bringing the back end down for the top of his opponent’s head. But Saburo Nishikoyama now had an idea on how his opponent fought and how skilled he might be. Quickly, he pushed himself upward and back, planting his hands to the ground and somersaulted away from the Turtle. Donatello couldn’t help but blink in momentary confusion at how Skullomania was able to move like that. It was something that took him by complete surprise. But he didn’t have enough time to dwell on that, as Skullomania now pounced forward and straightened himself, only to throw his weight and spun through the air as soared at Donatello, executing one of his own specialized techniques.

“SKULLO CRASHER!”

Donatello found himself suddenly being impacted directly in the forehead by the would-be hero, and he stumbled back from the blow while experiencing both a sense of disorientation and confusion.

Quickly seizing the opportunity of his opponent’s confusion and disorientation, Skullomania quickly ran at Donatello before he pounced high into the air. The skeleton themed hero curled himself into a ball and came down at the Turtle like falling comet before reaching out with his arms and took hold of Donatello’s shoulders, performing a quick handstand on the mutant Terrapin before he swung down and slipped between Donatello’s legs, causing the Turtle to drop onto the ground. Skullomania slammed his feet onto the mutant Red Ear Slider’s carapace, now having performed his Skullo Face Slam technique successfully in an impressive display of acrobatics.

Donatello registered the immediate discomfort and pain which his body seemed to be experiencing from the surprise which Skullomania had on him. The red masked genius could only ponder on where the skeleton suited man suddenly had received this energy and strength, and he didn’t even think he had some aptitude in acrobatics.

“What the hell? This guy is actually… good?” Michelangelo asked, raising a brow quizzically.

“All the more reason for us to be kept on our toes, Mikey. We’d better do our best not to get complacent.” Leonardo spoke as he kept his gaze on Donatello and Skullomania.

The red masked genius placed his hands onto the ground and pushed himself to his feet and blinked as he now finally realized what had happened. He quickly nodded his head regarding Skullomania’s tenacity and even the level of skill which he had, but that’s as far as accolades went as Donatello was concerned. He took in a deep breath of air through his nostrils, exhaling to undo whatever agitation he had been experiencing. Skullomania ran at Donatello before he leaned forward and dropped to a roll, now kicking his right out as he performed what appeared to be a baseball slide towards the mutant Red Ear Slider.

“SKULLO SLIDER!”

Donatello quickly pushed himself to a leap and he threw his weight forward, now somersaulting over his opponent. Upon landing feet first to the ground, Donatello turned to face Skullomania as the skeleton hero now rose up from his lower position. Saburo quickly leaned forward, and he thrust his right arm in a straight punch for Donatello’s face, but the Turtle moved his metal staff and pushed the incoming fist away from himself. Skullomania pumped his left arm up, intending on striking Donatello’s chin with a strong uppercut but the Turtle dashed to his right— evading the incoming fist rather swiftly. Skullomania set his sights on the red masked Turtle, now leaning forward and snapping his left leg out in a front kick only to have it be blocked by Donatello as he held his staff horizontally and instead had the foot hitting the center of his staff. Donatello, choosing to go with the momentum of the kick, hopped back before he pushed himself up and somersaulted away from the skeleton themed hero.

Saburo punched a fist out and charged right in at Donatello before he pushed himself to a leap and executed another Skullo Crasher with the intent to close the distance between himself and the Turtle. Donatello hopped to his right, evading Saburo Nishikoyama only to swing the lower end of his staff upward, intending on striking the hero directly in his chin. Skullomania leaned back away from the incoming strike but then responded by jabbing his left arm out and swinging out with his right as he aimed for Donatello’s head before he raised his right leg up and arced it across to the right, performing a reverse crescent kick. The mutant Red Ear Slider again leaned back, dodging the kick quickly before he thrust his staff forward and slammed the blunt end of his weapon into Skullmania’s solar plexus.

“GUH!” Saburo gasped as he was forced to stumble back from the thrusting attack.

Donatello quickly swung his staff over from right to left, bringing the ends across for Skullomania’s head but Skullomania hunched down, dodging the metal staff just in time. Quickly, Saburo rose back up to his feet and he leaned in with his weight and snapped his right leg out in a side kick as he moved his foot for Donatello’s chest, but the Turtle quickly positioned his staff vertically and blocked the incoming foot. Donatello positioned his staff horizontally and thrust it directly for Saburo’s face— impacting the hero directly in the face.

Having created an opening, Donatello decided to capitalize on the moment as he moved his arms out and slipped his staff behind his opponent’s shoulders only to pull him in and he thrust his right knee up directly into Skullomania’s mid-section as he forced him to hunch while pulling him in. Skullomania grunted with each impact that had slammed into him, and he felt the pressure piling on him.

Skullomania moved his arms up and he took hold of Donatello’s wrists, only to use whatever determination and strength he had within to push up against the Turtle and worked to remove the staff from behind his shoulders. He threw his arms upward and released Donatello’s wrist prior to tensing his leg muscles and pushing himself to a leap while he threw his weight to the left, spinning while he soared to the air while pushing his head up and firmly impacted Donatello in the chin.

“SKULLO HEAD!” Saburo shouted.

Donatello was sent flying back and he felt his chin throbbing a bit. That one he didn’t see coming. Gravity pulled down at the mutant Terrapin and he dropped onto his right side. The red masked genius placed his hands to the ground, and he pushed himself to his feet, now shaking his head from side to side to express whatever disbelief and perhaps… disapproval, which may have held for himself for allowing that to happen.

Saburo Nishikoyama now charged in at the Turtle, and he kicked his right leg out in a rising front kick as he intended to blast his foot directly into Donatello’s face, but the Turtle raised his staff and positioned it defensively only to deflect the incoming kick as he pushed back at it. Skullomania followed up by thrusting his left, then his right, and then followed things off by turning in a spin to his right and swinging his fist back across in a reverse punch, again aiming for Donatello’s face but the Turtle quickly evaded by ducking, weaving and even hopping back from the incoming strikes. But Skullomania is a hero, and he needed to be tenacious and relentless if he had any chance of winning against his competitor. Quickly, he pounced forward and raised his left fist, only to thrust it down and out for Donatello’s forehead in a leaping straight punch but Donatello dove forward, and he curled himself to a ball, now rolling underneath Saburo as he went through with the attack.

Donatello quickly moved his right hand down to his utility belt while he rolled to a hunched position and took hold of three shurikens as he now set his sights to Skullomania. Immediately, Donatello flung his hand outward and released his hold from the flat bladed objects, sending them speeding and spinning over at the skeleton themed hero.

Saburo Nishikoyama widened his eyes underneath his mask as he saw the shurikens moving in towards him as he felt a momentary tinge of fear entering his mind but something inside of him… burned with a fury of a thousand suns, and this only fueled his determination to keep fighting. And this also caused a burst of energy inside of himself to grow, and Skullomania now took hold of this rising energy and focused on causing it to explode outward. He crossed his arms out in front of himself. Saburo then willed this energy to manifest outwardly and as soon as the shurikens were close enough to him… He threw his arms up as the ground beneath him now cratered and a bubble of energy now surrounded Saburo, stopping and deflecting the shurikens away from him.

“SKULLO ENERGY!”

Donatello widened his eyes at what he witnessed. While he had fought opponents who were capable of utilizing energy as projectiles in this tournament, he hadn’t expected someone like Skullomania to use that energy in such a defensive and potentially dangerous manner. Raphael dropped his jaw at seeing such a display of power like that. Michelangelo gasped at what Skullomania was more than capable of. Leonardo blinked and focused his icy gaze on Skullomania and nudged his head up to his siblings.

“See? No telling what surprises are in for us in this tournament. All the more reason for us to keep on our toes and keep on fighting. We’ve come far, but there’s still some surprises left for us.” Leonardo spoke.

Saburo’s energy continued to flare all around him, and all Donatello could do was merely raise his left hand up to briefly cover over his eyes, preventing the brightness of the energy from overwhelming his vision. The ground beneath Skullomania cratered deeper steadily, going deeper inch by inch. The red masked genius slowly lowered his hand down as the brightness dwindled, now watching as Saburo began to focus on condensing that energy and moving it to his hands. Holding this energy, Skullomania then threw his arms up and tossed the ball of energy upward as he shouted with tremendous power. Power which only a true hero had.

“SKULLO BALL!”

Donatello shot his eyes up and watched as the energy now soared up only to now come down at him like a meteor. The red masked ninja then pounced to his left and managed to evade the falling ball of energy as it hit the floor of the terminal— the explosion of energy causing the floor to crack and explode, the shockwave being powerful enough to cause the glass in the spiral staircase and escalator rails to shatter. Had he not gotten out of the way in time, Donatello could’ve only imagined the trouble he would’ve been in.

Saburo now suddenly felt the energy inside of himself dwindling and fading, along with a tremendous amount of fatigue now coursing throughout his very body. He took several deep breaths, working to fight through the exhaustion that now came crashing down upon him like ten tons of brick.

“I… I am… a hero. I… I cannot give up… I will not give up.” Skullomania spoke in Japanese.

Donatello then took aim for his opponent’s head, and he threw his staff from his head with all the strength which he could put into the attack. The metal staff flew forward with precision, and immediately hit Saburo Nishikoyama directly in the forehead— causing the skeleton themed superhero to stumble back and he hit the floor of the terminal hard with a loud thud. Donatello’s staff dropped onto the floor, echoing a clang through the area. The genius Turtle stepped over to where his weapon laid, before moving down to reach and take hold of it in his hands. He now looked down to the unconscious form of Skullomania and shook his head from side to side.

“You know, if you had thorough training and learned to properly control that power… You might go far in being a superhero. Good luck buddy. Sleep easy.” Donatello spoke while fetching his shurikens.

Michelangelo threw his arms up and he yelled out in celebration of Donatello achieving another victory for the team. Raphael chuckled as he crossed his arms in front of his chest and now looked down to the unconscious bodies of the opposition. Leonardo looked over to Donatello and nodded in approval of his sibling’s victory.

“You did good, real good Don.” Leonardo said.

“Well, he wasn’t too difficult, but I wasn’t really expecting that.” Donatello responded.

“Dude, we’ve been fighting all kinds of fighters with these wild powers and abilities. We’ve come really far. I can’t help but wonder exactly how far we’re gonna go and how this is all gonna make us all the better in the long run.” Michelangelo voiced his thoughts.

“I’m thinking Master Splinter wanted us to learn how to fight against people who’ve got powers by having us fight in this tournament. Gotta hand it to him. Crazy idea but damn, it’s a good way to make us better ninja.” Raphael smirked.

The brothers had now looked to one another while also receiving a new understanding of their attendance in this tournament. Indeed, they had come very far in this tournament, having achieved many victories against Martial Artists who reached superhuman potential through training and spiritual refinement, some who had received powers by accepting cursed blood into themselves, and some… having transcended humanity by either genetic manipulation or through cybernetics. Aside from a few instances where each sibling had suffered a loss or a draw outcome, the Turtles had managed to overcome whatever challenge had come their way.

“Remember, we stay on our toes… We fight focused.” Leonardo said.

“We’ll be sure to remember that Leo… You ain’t gotta worry about that. Right Donnie?” Raphael turned to look over to his intellectual of a brother.

Donatello smiled and nodded his head in a reaffirming manner. After his experience in fighting Skullomania and the opponents he faced previously, Donatello had also come quite far as well and even had learned to cope in dealing with enemies with superhuman potential and abilities.

With a newfound resolve to keep fighting and to see where their experiences in the tournament could take them, the Turtles were now brought closer together as not just brothers… But warriors.

Several hours had passed after the Turtles claimed their victory against Team EX. In their downtime, the siblings had a few hearty meals and even took the time to check each other over for any serious injuries. Thankfully, the Turtles hadn’t sustained anything which could affect their overall health and performance in the tournament. Under Leonardo’s suggestion, meditation was undertaken for the siblings to reflect on the journey and the revelation which they had arrived at after having defeated the last opposing team.

After having watched several matches in progress, the Turtles had been summoned to their next battle but were surprised to learn that the opposing team had chosen the designated area to fight instead of the tournament committee having chosen the next area and arranged for the brothers to be escorted via limousine. Deciding to take the chance, all four siblings agreed on the matter of transportation. With optimal driving conditions, even in the city of New York, the brothers eventually managed to arrive at a high rise building and were informed that they were to be at the rooftop of the building.

“Anyone else getting red flags here?” Raphael asked.

“Good to see that you’re on edge, Raphael. We’re all going to have to be on our A game here.” Leonardo responded.

The brothers moved into the lobby area of the chosen building and made their way over to an elevator. Michelangelo was the first approach, and he operated the side panel control, opening the door of the lift and allowing Raphael, Leonardo and Donatello to step in before he entered and hit the control button for the rooftop floor. Moments passed and the elevator stopped—the door opening to reveal the very rooftop of the high rise. Ahead of the brothers were a few air conditioner boxes along with the ventilation shafts they were attached to, and a platform which seemed to serve as a path which led to a helicopter landing pad.

“Getting super villain vibes here.” Michelangelo spoke.

“OYE! Over here! You blokes certainly have one hell of a sense of timing!” A voice with a cockney accent hollered out to the brothers, drawing their attention now.

There were three figures ahead of them, one of them being a Caucasian man with a red and white striped bandana that concealed the blonde hair he had underneath. He sported what appeared to be a navy-blue jacket with no shirt underneath, exposing his toned mid-section and even had on a pair of denim jeans and brown boots. Gripped in his right hand was a red wooden staff, and he slung it over his shoulders as he gave a half-hearted grin to the Turtles.

Another was a tall and muscular bald man, sporting a pair of black sunglasses and he even sported a well-trimmed moustache and short beard. This man also wore what appeared to be a dark grey colored long coat which also had some fur trimming along the collar, and even sported

The next match in the Mirage Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles storyline is finally up, and this one... was a bit of a challenge to come up with as I had three other teams to try and go up against the Turtles, but since the last matches involving the TMNT going up against Team EX seemed to have gotten a lackluster response-- I felt like I had to make it up with a team that I felt could push the Turtles and maybe even make them break through their limitations.

Writing out the recap between Donatello and Skullomania was both easy and difficult because the votes were really lopsided in Donatello's favor but at the same time, I also had access to some videos featuring Skullomania's movesets and so I decided to incorporate that into the recap. I also wanted to write out that despite Skullomania more or less not having any real formal training, but being tenacious enough to hand with the likes of the characters from Street Fighter and Fighting Layer, that he had a latent power within himself and had he some formal training, he could've been amazing hero in the fashion of Kamen Rider and Super Sentai-- which he is based off said Tokusatsu. So, I would like to think that I did a fair enough job on that.

And it's been a while since Donatello had gone first in a match, and I think Donnie would appreciate being the first to bat. And this brings us to the opposing team, which I dub as Team Boss-- as we have a team consisting of Billy Kane, Mr. Big and Duke... You can already probably guess who the fourth and final member of this team is going to be. But I felt as if the best opponent for Donatello would've been Billy Kane, as he also uses a three sectional bo-staff. So hopefully, this will be a good match and this opponent team is enough to maybe make up for the lackluster previous team to fight the Turtles.

Remember-- ENVIRONMENT IS ALSO A FACTOR IN THIS BATTLE! Something I feel like people need to seriously consider.

For new readers who are just hopping onto this storyline here, I suggest you look at the Mirage TMNT Respect Thread to see what the Mirage Turtles are more than capable of.

Donatello (Mirage) is low tier superhuman in terms of physicals. Think Above Peak Human due to his mutation.

Donatello (Mirage) possesses a new Electro Bo-Staff, Electro Shurikens, Explosive Shurikens, Kunai and Modified Laser Equipped Roomba.

Billy Kane is in Peak Human Conditioning due to his training.

Billy Kane possess his Bo-Staff.

Billy Kane has his moveset from the Fatal Fury and KOF games.

I think Billy Kane in underrated. He could beat Donnie.

But Donatello is also the most underrated of the Turtles.

And don't forget, he's also got an electro bo-staff which deals electric damage too, so there's an effect there that might linger on Billy Kane there. Also, keep in mind, canonically speaking-- Donatello has fought opponents who are well over his weight and punching class, even when compared to Billy Kane. Donatello's knocked out Dinosaurs with his strikes and he's also taken on literal deities and mythological creatures in the Hall of Lost Legends in Mirage canon.

I'm not saying Billy Kane is a beast but I think he's capable of winning.

In this fight Donnatello would be pretty focused but if Billy could break his concentration.

Oh sure, he could.

But we need to consider that in this storyline, Donatello has fought some notable opponents who are probably more powerful and arguably more skilled than Billy, specifically Maxima being a recent example and Jyubei Yagyu of Samurai Shodown being another.

But hopefully Billy should be an interesting challenge for Donatello.

Now this is a more even matchup here Rakai. Donnie’s definitely gonna need to work for this one.

Looking over the feats while Billy Kane does seem to be a more natural warrior and fighter then Donnie by feats Don might just win out. Donnie is at the very least in the same league as his brothers who are fast enough to dodge laser weapons and bounce off missiles aimed at them, not to mention durable enough to tank attacks that collapse small buildings. I see Don just barely beating Billy by a narrow margain.

Thanks for commenting and providing a decent breakdown for how the fight could go!

And more importantly, I'm even more glad that this seems to make up for the lackluster previous match ups with Team EX!

Donnie put in some good work here, and while Skullomania did surprise him at certain points, it is good to see him find a way to come out on top in spite of his interpreted shortcomings.

The guy really is more than just an egg-head, even if many versions of the TMNT portray him that way.

Throwing the staff too, was a good touch, and not one I considered him doing, but is a very smart one tactically, especially given the nature of the circumstances he was fighting against.

Reminds me of Goku taking out Recoome, in that Donnie realized the potential danger he was in and proceeded to take out the threat quickly before it got any worse.

Staff to staff, this is going to be a hard match for Donnie, in spite of his own staff's upgrades.

In close quarters too, he won't really given any particular advantages here, and the city rooftop will even add to his potential problems, as he can't stray too far, or else he risks falling off the roof.

The fight here will have to depend on whether or not he can pin Billy Kane at that range, purely based on skill and movement as opposed to anything else.

In my opinion the best strategy here, is to try his best to force Billy to move around a lot more, relinquishing his defensive posture from the front and back, as Donnie concentrates on wherever the staff isn't at the time, and pounds it in with swift and powerful offensive strikes.

Thanks for commenting and providing your take on the match between Donatello and Skullomania, as that was something which was a bit of a challenge to write out as I had to figure out how that match was going to turn out. None the less, I am glad that you found somethings to be particularly enjoyable about that match.

And as for this match, I am glad to know that Donatello here is in for a fairly decent challenge although I would think that he's relatively use to fighting on rooftops considering that he's fought on many rooftops in New York during his career as a vigilante and one of his first battles was on a rooftop, when he and his brothers were sent to assassinate the Shredder in the original Mirage comics. But also, I do appreciate your take on the breakdown of how this fight could go and what Donatello would need to do in order to secure a potential victory.

Thanks for commenting!

Great set-up as usual, Rakai, and great recap with Donatello and Skullomania. I'm not really surprised that Skullomania was able to occasionally catch Donnie off-guard, but Donnie's win was well-deserved. Also, R.I.P., nice terminal. :D

As for the match, I see the tourney's dipping more into the KoF world. Looks like this Billy Kane dude might give Donatello trouble with his bo attacks. I noticed that Billy does gets flustered if he loses his bo, though, so that may be something Donatello could take advantage of (even if Billy often gets replacements mid-match). Donnie might be able to eke this out with his skill, experience with powered opponents, and maybe some ninjutsu tricks.

As mentioned, the fighters are gonna need to be careful on that rooftop, though with their experiences, that shouldn't be a huge problem.

I wanted to get back more into the KoF side of things because it has been something of a bit since we had the Turtles fight the SNK characters. Originally, this did start off as a KoF tournament but then seemingly later on had some guests teams show up in the run of things. I had initially ran out of some suitable SNK characters as I felt that the Turtles weren't ready for some Boss type characters.... until now. So there's that happening right now.

But then again, the Turtles have fought Team Fatal Fury, the Three Treasures, Orochi Team and K' Team... All of whom for the most part are super powered.

Thanks for commenting.

Missed the chance to vote in the battle of bo staffs. From the result, the outcome wouldn't have been affected either way. Great recap for Skullomania's fight and unless I'm mistaken, Mr. Big is on Billy's team.
