With the addition of the Mirage TMNT placed into the CBUB character database, as I plan to be using the Turtles in a few matches very shortly, I feel that as if it was only appropriate that I begin something of a respect thread for them as I feel they while they are the Turtles which started it all, they are often the most overlooked in favor of the more colorful and cheery incarnations which came afterwards and formed all of our childhoods-- but as you all know, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were never intended to be a toy empire or even something meant for children to acquire into their own childhoods. So, I decided to take it upon myself to create a respect thread for the Mirage TMNT here on Electric Ferret.

Naturally, I will be pulling from the Mirage comics ranging from Eastman and Laird's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and of course Turtles Forever. I will also be pulling from non-canonical sources, so long as the feats are consistent to what has been shown in the main TMNT media depicting the Mirage Turtles.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Strength

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are in low ranking Superhuman Strength, this is likely a combination of many things such as their Mutant physiology as well as their physical conditioning which has been ingrained into them through intense physical training. They likely are Above Peak Human in strength rank.

1.) Leonardo bashes through a Brick Wall with a blow.

[Link]

2.) Leonardo cuts down the middle a stone monster Complete Carnage with his steel sword.

[Link]

3.) Leonardo from sitting position jumps up and over a fleeing Foot Ninja.

[Link]

4.) Leonardo kicks through a telephone pole thick beam.

[Link]

5.) Leonardo lifts a old school steel fridge and walks it outside into the house with no problem. The average fridge can weight up to 400 lbs when empty.

[Link]

6.) Michelangelo breaks the chain of a punching bag and punches through the wooden walls of the barn.

[Link] [Link] [Link]

7.) Michelangelo rips through leather straps while in a disoriented and injured state.

[Link]

8.) Michelangelo rips through his straps again.

[Link]

9.) Donatello grabs and drags Complete Carnage through a stone wall till he formed in it again.

[Link]

10.) Donatello lifts an alien overhead with his bo-staff.

[Link]

11.) Leonardo cleaves through two stone structures with steel swords, each blade held in one hand.

[Link] [Link]

12.) Raphael RIPS a parking meter out solid concrete and proceeds to swing it like a bat and shatters a concrete lion's jaw.

[Link]

13. Raphael and Leonardo cut and pierce through Utrom exo-suits which are said to be made from a space age titanium alloy.

[Link] [Link]

Speed

The Turtles are somewhere in low superhuman speed in terms of ranking their reaction timing. They have been consistently shown to dodge bullets and lasers from extraterrestrial weapons. This is again, likely attributed to their mutant physiology and further enhanced by their physical training and conditioning.

1.) Donatello flips between bullets.

[Link]

2.) Pre-Teen Leonardo evades AR firing.

[Link]

3.) Leo dodges blaster fire while throwing his sword in the barrel. Then dodges multiple arrow fire up close. This feat is more impressive as the foes he is fighting are the best from Battle World.

[Link] [Link]

4.) Raph reacts and counter a Giant Spider's lunge.

[Link]

5.) Turtles counter many attacks of a Phantom coming all at once.

[Link]

6.) Donatello moves to fast for this gunman to aim at.

[Link]

7.) Leonardo evades gun firing from Foot ninja.

[Link]

8.) Dodging fire from experienced poachers.

[Link]

9.) Avoiding laser firing from Triceraton soldiers.

[Link]

10.) Dodging lasers from soldiers again.

[Link]

11.) Evading laser shots from the Utroms.

[Link]

12. Raphael blocks and deflects automatic firing from Johnny Woo Woo while plummeting down.

[Link]

Durability and Pain Threshold

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle possess low level superhuman durability. A Turtle shell has been scientifically proven to withstand 200 times it's own weight before cracking and breaking, and ordinary Turtles, depending on size and weight can withstand alligator bite forces which have a PSI of over 1,000 lbs.

Further showing the durability of a normal Turtle, one specimen was sent crashing through a a windshield of a car, hitting a woman in the head and rendering her unconscious, and actually SURVIVES the ordeal with only a scuffed shell!

Given the size and weight of the TMNT, it's likely that they exceed the durability of normal Turtle shells due to their mutation and physiology being enhanced by the Mutagen.

1.) Donatello gets slammed into a van and crushes the van with his impact. Quickly gets back into the fight.

[Link]

2.) A future Leo at the age of 100 gets crushed on the concrete building, at this frail age still talking.

[Link]

3.) They can fall from 3 stories and be fine.

[Link]

4.) Raph drops many stories through the roof of a movie theater and down below. He is fine.

[Link] [Link]

5.) Leatherhead pummels Raph into a brick wall. No big deal.

[Link]

6.) Raphael can keep going with all sorts of arrows and shurikens in him.

[Link]

7.) Leonardo stealthily infiltrates a building full of enemy ninja while having arrows and shurikens embedded within his flesh.

[Link]

8.) All four Mirage Turtles are caught in the grip of a Kaiju sized Utrom Shredder and are being squeezed to death as seen in Turtles Forever, prior to being saved by 1987 Cartoon Donatello. They last about thirty seconds prior to being rescued and released by Utrom Shredder via 80's Cartoon Donatello exploding shuriken.

[Link]

Accuracy

The Turtles were trained in ninjutsu, meaning that they are trained in the subset skills such as Shurikenjutsu and Archery. Because of their training, they seem to possess decent level of accuracy when it comes to utilizing thrown or long ranged weapons. Accuracy also extends to close range fighting as well.

1.) Pre-Teen Leo avoids gunfire, and throws a shuriken. Headshots enemy ninja.

[Link]

2.) Leonardo lands a shuriken on Rat King's chest.

[Link]

3.) Michelangelo throws a shuriken into the barrel of a gun and proceeds to nunchuck enemy ninjas.

[Link]

4.) Turtles evade gun firing from hired hunters and accurately throw their weapons at their hands, neck and face.

[Link]

5.) Leo cuts a thin gun barrel in half.

[Link]

Blind Fighting

1.) The Turtles have been trained to fight completely blind.

[Link]

2.) Leonardo seemingly has developed the ability to sense auras and quite possibly his surroundings.

[Link] [Link]

Mental Resistance

It seems as if the Turtles aren't just trained in just the body but also the mind. They have been trained by Master Splinter to develop some form of mental resistance against enemies who have mental powers.

1.) The Decider was a City Level Telepath who at first mind controlled the TMNT. Until Splinter taught them basic Mental Resistance.

[Link] [Link] [Link]

2.) Mental Training session.

[Link]

3.) Just to show how good Splinter was at astral projection and TP, here are some feats.

Splinter vs Foot Mystic

[Link] [Link] [Link] [Link] [Link] [Link] [Link]

Splinter vs Rat King

[Link] [Link] [Link]

Splinter has a few more TP feats with his perfection of Ninjutsu and other arts, but the point is he is an insane mental warrior.

No Morals Towards Killing

As we all know regarding the Mirage TMNT, they are the most violent of the incarnations of the brothers which we have seen. The barely had a rogues gallery on account that often wound up killing their rogues, such as the Shredder in TMNT #1. Only Mike had morals on it, and Don tried not to kill foes if he could help it. As for Leo and Raph, they killed anyone to end a fight quick.

[Link] [Link] [Link] [Link] [Link] [Link] [Link]

Skill Level and Tenacity

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have been trained since they were able to walk according to the backstory provided by Master Splinter in Eastman and Laird's TMNT #1. Each of the brothers have been equally trained in the art of ninjutsu specifically for the assassination of Oroku Saki, the Shredder. Here are a few showings of each of the brothers displaying their level of skill in a few situations.

Donatello

Donatello vs Triceratons

[Link] [Link] [Link] [Link] [Link]

Note: Donatello faces Triceratons, each one Meta-human in strength and durability. Triceratons are a warrior race train from birth.

Donatello vs Alien Goo Monster

[Link] [Link]

Donatello KO's a Raptor with Bo-Staff

[Link] [Link] [Link]

Donatello vs Jungle Spider

[Link] [Link] [Link]

Note: Donatello was shrunken down during this battle, and he's fighting an average sized Jungle Spider.

Michelangelo

Michelangelo vs Triceraton

[Link] [Link]

Note: Michelangelo was malnourished and beaten down during this conflict with the Triceraton.

Michelangelo vs Genetically Modified Triceraton

[Link] [Link] [Link] [Link] [Link] [Link] [Link]

Note: Michelangelo was still very weak from imprisonment when facing this particular Triceraton who went under genetic modification, designed to be faster at the cost of strength.

Raphael vs Foot Elite

[Link] [Link] [Link]

Note: Raph faces one of the Shredder Elite. These guys were all personally trained by Shredder, and each Elite was a match for every Turtle as well as Karai. Raph beats one in five panels.

Raphael vs Werewolves

[Link] [Link] [Link]

Note: While Raphael does not necessarily win against this pack of Werewolves, he does none the less hold his own against them which is pretty impressive all things considering he's up against a pack and his only means of help is a hesitant Shadow Jones, who doesn't seem to really want to fight.

Raphael vs More Werewolves

[Link] [Link] [Link] [Link]

Note: Raph faces more Werewolves to save Casey's daughter, Shadow.

Raphael vs IDW/DC Amalgam Turtles and Batman

[Link] [Link] [Link] [Link]

Note: Likely Non-Canon but this is consistent with Raphael's skill showing as he has previously shown to literally take out an entire team of other TMNT as seen in Turtles Forever. Here, Raphael takes on an Amalgam IDW/DC TMNT team and even manages to hold his own in a brief skirmish against Batman. IDW/DC Splinter notes that Mirage Raphael is merely toying with the IDW/DC Amalgam Turtles, which speaks of his level of training and skill.

Teamwork

Turtles vs Foot and The Shredder

[Link] [Link] [Link] [Link] [Link] [Link] [Link]

Note: What makes this feat even more impressive that the Turtles are young in their career, and literally speaking so. When they were sent out to kill the Shredder as an act of vengeance for the death of Hamato Yoshi, they are supposedly fifteen years of age as they commit to the defeat and death of one of the most deadliest masters of the Foot clan.

Turtles vs Speedsters

[Link] [Link] [Link] [Link] [Link] [Link] [Link] [Link] [Link]

Note: While this isn't necessarily the best showing of the TMNT's teamwork, it does none the less show that they are fast enough to land in a few blows onto enemies possessing superhuman speed. These enemies are so fast they can count rain drops. The Turtles survive the onslaught, with Master Splinter decapitating the three speedsters.

Foot Elite

Just to give an idea on how DANGEROUS the Foot Elite are, a single Foot Elite has been shown to take out an entire group of New York Foot ninja. The Shredder himself hand picked these ninja and trained them personally to be his bodyguard. When Oroku Saki died, they aimed to gain control of the New York Foot. The Turtles regularly fight and beat the Foot Elite.

Note: The feats showcasing the Turtles fighting Kronus, Cerberus, Manticora, Grendel and Fideal all took place in the Hall of Lost Legends, a sanctuary and museum where figures of mythology and folklore reside. In the Mirage universe, these mythological figures do exist, but are confined to the Hall of Lost Legends. Loki, the Norse Trickster God, imprisoned and took control over many inhabitants. Loki summoned Cerberus, Manticora and Grendel to fight the Turtles.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, this is it ladies and gentlemen... Here is the Mirage Turtles respect thread for my favorite incarnation of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Hopefully this thread will be something of a reference to get a good level on where the Turtles fit in in terms of feats of strength, speed, agility, durability, skill and teamwork and can be useful in CBUB debates!

Very nice, Rakai. One thing, though:

Wouldn't this more accurately be a feat of determination/perseverance? All those projectiles didn't really bounce off of Raph, you know, and it would take a lot of guts to keep going through all those wounds.

I more or less copy and pasted the text from from a thread which I found over at Comicvine and it was categorized as such. But none the less, you are indeed very much correct in that this is more of a perseverance and high pain threshold showing than durability.
