Unlucky draw for the Grinch, as this version of Death can effectively appear in as many forms as he liked. He can be the traditional Death depiction, or an old man in a grey suit, or, as described in Final Destination: Dead Reckoning, he may be a massive abomination composed of decaying, shifting corpses and bones from thousands of species.

Pretty sure that'll trump most Grinch costumes... Death for the win.

I may be behind on my Final Destination lore. From what I remember, Death didn't appear in the movies, did it? Wasn't it just a vague, shady influence over everything? Does it physically appear?

In the movies no, but there is plenty more lore (and kills) in the books and comics.

Even then, the Grinch would just seem like a cooler costume. Like these are just various renditions of "some guy". The massive abomination is cool, but, it's not how he usually presents himself to people. Who's to say he'd go with that and not some old man in a grey suit?

Who says he can't go as two Grinches connected at the abdomen. Possibilities are endless

I'm inclined to go with the Grinch. Final Destination death doesn't actually look like anything. Plus people won't even know what the person is supposed to be. Everyone knows The Grinch. They could go Jim Carrey and just blow people away.

Everyone is familiar with depictions of Death, so ultimately we could have a 20 foot tall skeleton yielding a scythe.

We're talking about an embodiment of death itself who has been shown to take multiple forms.

Heck, we've seen countless people in Grinch costumes at Christmas now - so theres nothing new there; that's being judged against a potential huge smoke monster or decaying abomination. Pretty sure that would win any costume competition.

Don't know if it would be possible, but if someone could pull off a costume that references the truck carrying logs as a potential threat to all around them, it would win costume of the night against anything in my book.

That'd be awesome. Definitely an iconic scene (and I'm still nervous driving by a truck carrying logs).

Yeah, as elaborate as a "Death" costume could be, it may take a bit much to explain, and a fair amount of people may still not see it the same way. A good Grinch costume would be creative and familiar enough with everyone.

"And next up, a vision of Death itself!"

That's all the explanation needed, and BOOM! Gigantic fearsome floating flaming skeleton for the win.
