Michelangelo had no idea how he was going to cope in dealing with an opponent who had the ability to manipulate ice. By now he and his brothers were getting better experienced in dealing with people who had superhuman abilities but going up against someone who had the ability to manipulate ice? For Michelangelo, that had the potential to be an extremely bad thing for him on account of him being a reptile. Yes, a mutated cold blooded reptile but a reptile none the less. Just seeing the petite former NESTS assassin before him extending her ice in a small area around her was intimidating enough for him but he convinced himself to give nothing but his best and learn to adapt to the situation. Kula smiled in a friendly and innocent manner, and she merely raised her right hand up and gave Michelangelo a friendly wave. Michelangelo couldn’t help but chuckle nervously and smiled back awkwardly as he now bounced on his feet and snapped himself into his fighting stance.

Without warning, Kula then slid her right foot forward and then her left as a trail of ice began to form beneath her feet. Michelangelo widened his eyes at this as the blue haired girl seemed to be literally ice skating towards him. She then immediately thrust her left arm forward and out, her fingers extended as she now focused her cyrokinesis to her fingers, forming sharp icicles from her tips. Michelangelo widened his eyes as he immediately leaned his head to the left, the icicles now brushing up against the ends of his red bandana. Kula followed up by turning in a spin and held her arms out and stood on her right leg, raising her left as she intended to strike at Michelangelo with a spinning attack, icicles forming all around her hands and her feet. The wily Turtle hopped back from the spinning attack, but she still drew closer towards as she skate ahead. Michelangelo tensed up his leg muscles and he pushed himself forward and up, now throwing his body weight downward as he somersaulted over Kula and soon landed feet first onto the ground behind her. With skill and grace, Kula turned to meet her opponent and smiled brightly as she then skate towards the mutant Red Ear Slider and gave off an innocent giggle.

Kula thrust her arms outward, still keeping her control over her ice abilities as she intended to strike at Michelangelo’s face and mid-section as ice and cold air extended from her hands. The wily Turtle tilted his body over from right to left, managing to evade the strikes for his face but he had to hop back each time she reached out for his mid-section. Michelangelo could feel the cold air brushing up against his skin, and while the cold was brief—it was concerning as he had no idea how cold her abilities could reach. She leaned forward, intending on reaching to touch at Michelangelo’s face, but the red masked ninja snapped his right leg up and planted his foot against Kula’s mid-section and pushed her away to get some distance between him and her.

“Crap! I’m guessing the cold never bothered you anyway?” Michelangelo quipped.

Kula pushed her feet forward and slide towards her opponent. She turned with her weight and then thrust her right arm forward and out as hard as she could while she focused her cyrokinesis to cause her fist to frost over and enhance the strength of her blow. Michelangelo however, stood his ground as he then swung his left arm horizontally across while positioning his forearm upward, diverting the blow away from him. Quickly, he spun the nunchaku in his right hand vertically upward and managed to strike Kula directly underneath her chin, causing the girl’s head to snap back. The red masked ninja then took aim for his opponent’s mid-section and he pumped his left arm in a series of three quick jabs, firmly striking Kula’s stomach region as he leaned in with his weight while snapping his fist forward. Michelangelo then swung his right arm across and then back, using his nunchaku to strike away at Kula’s mid-section, and the former NESTS assassin then stumbled from the blows before the wily Turtle then tensed up his leg muscles, then threw his weight to the right and he swung his right leg across in a jumping spinning roundhouse kick, firmly striking Kula hard across the face and in turn caused the blue haired girl to fall back some four feet and spun around before she would hit the ground on her back.

Kula quickly however placed her hands down to the ground and she pushed herself to her feet and hopped in place to loosen herself up. She smiled brightly and then skate towards Michelangelo once more. She swung her right arm across, her palm open and ice formed all around her hand and cold air emanating from her hand. Michelangelo leaned back away from the incoming strike, but he looked to see as Kula then placed her left hand to her lips, puckering them before she blew air out in towards him as if she were sending a kiss. She focused her cyrokinesis, manipulating the air all around her to drop in temperature as snowflakes formed and moved in towards Michelangelo.

“WHAT THE-- ?! COLD, COLD!!” Michelangelo shouted as the cold air moved onto him, suffering the effects of Kula’s Diamond Breath.

The Turtle’s skin had some frost forming on his green colored flesh, and he quickly backed away from the blue haired girl. It was at that moment that Kula decided to seize the opportunity on Michelangelo, as she grinned and giggled before moving in on the Turtle. The former NESTS assassin then clenched her hands firmly into fists, focusing her power to frost her hands over with ice. Quickly, she then turned with her hips and she pumped her left arm forward and out for Michelangelo’s plastron protected mid-section, firmly striking the ninja and causing him to grunt in discomfort. She then followed up with her assault by turning in a spin and then thrusting her right arm up, the palm of her hand opened while she maintained her control over her cyrokinesis, firmly striking Michelangelo in the chin as cold air and frost now moved onto the Turtle. She then thrust her right arm’s elbow back as her back was turned to the ninja, again striking him in the mid-section. Following up with this, Kula turned with her weight and snapped out with a speedy roundhouse kick which moved diagonally up to the left, firmly striking Michelangelo across his face. Finally, she leaned forward and placed her right hand’s fingers against Michelangelo’s mid-section, and she leaned in with her weight, and snapped her right hand into a fist—now executing a technique she had learned from K’ himself, the One Inch punch technique. Michelangelo widened his eyes in extreme agonizing pain as he crumpled over, dropping to his knees and now falling onto his chest.

“Damn, he’s gonna feel that one in the morning.” Raphael grunted.

“We’ve never fought anyone who could work ice powers like this girl here. If Michelangelo isn’t careful, this could end pretty badly for him and for us too.” Leonardo stated.

“But if he can turn this to his favor, he’ll come out of this learning something!” Donatello added.

Michelangelo fought through the pain as he placed his hands onto the ground and now pushed himself to his feet. He spun his twin nunchaku with skill and swiftness before spinning them vertically upwards and down, tucking them underneath his arms. He took in a deep breath of air through his nostrils and quickly nodded his head, before he nudged his head up and tilting it back, gesturing for Kula to come at him again.

The petite girl giggled excitedly as she now saw that her opponent was ready to play again, and she rushed in ahead as she skate towards him. Kula focused her cyrokinesis once more and then turned in a spin to the right, moving her right arm back across to the right as she hunched down for Michelangelo’s legs, intending to strike him across his knees as she made her hand frost over with ice before she then pushed herself up with her legs, now taking to the air as she turned in a spin, her hands open as she released an arc of cold air and ice for the mutant Red Ear Slider, now unleashing her Crow Bite technique. Michelangelo tensed up his leg muscles as he pushed himself upwards and back, now somersaulting away from the young girl and landed onto his feet. As Kula came down, the Turtle then shifted with a step forward as he now spun his nunchaku in a figure eight motion before he then swung the pain his left hand horizontally back across to the left and then over to the right, firmly striking Kula’s body before he then swung his nunchaku in his right hand vertically upward, striking underneath Kula’s chin and then brought the nunchaku down, impacting the top of her head to now cause her head to snap down.

“OWWIES!” Kula shouted.

Michelangelo quickly snapped his right leg diagonally up as he took aim for Kula’s head, landing a solid roundhouse kick across the side of her face and then brought his leg back across to the left in a heel kick. Kula’s head now was forced to turn and her senses were momentarily jarred, leaving herself open for Michelangelo to attack. And attack the Turtle did, as he then turned with his hips and he thrust his right and left arm forward and out, firmly striking for Kula directly into her mid-section before he tensed up his leg muscles once more, pushed himself to leap and now snapped both his legs forward as he performed a drop kick onto the former NESTS assassin’s chest.

Kula quickly then placed her hands onto the ground, working to push herself up but Michelangelo would pounce forward as he pushed himself to be airborne. He curled himself up into a ball, now throwing his weight forward and flipped himself right at the former NESTS assassin, firmly impacting her in her chest before he rebounded and padded feet first onto the ground. Kula would fly back and fall flat onto her backside, and she winced her red colored eyes in discomfort and pain, now feeling a flicker of anger inside. She clenched her hands firmly and puffed her cheeks out as she pouted in a childlike manner. Again she pushed herself to her feet and already Michelangelo rushed in again as he ran at her. Frantically, Kula then focused her control over ice and shifted with a step forward, swatting her right hand vertically down as she released an arc of cold air and ice down at the red masked Turtle, unleashing her Counter Shell technique in an effort to strike at Michelangelo with cold air and ice.

Michelangelo instead side-stepped to his right, now circling around Kula as he then swung his left leg upward in a rising front kick as he brought his foot for Kula’s chin. The blue haired girl was struck, her head snapping back and Michelangelo now swung both his nunchaku down, slamming them down onto the top of Kula’s head and once more caused her head to snap down. He leaned forward and turned with his weight and then snapped his left leg forward and out, performing a sidekick and firmly impacted Kula directly in her solar plexus, causing the young girl to now gasp out in pain as she felt a pressure sinking into her body.

Kula moved her arms down to her mid-section and clutched at her sides, and she lurched as she worked to regain her breath. Fighting through the pain, Kula now set herself to stand upright once more. She looked over to the Turtle and smile as she now focused on manipulating the air molecules above the Turtle, working to control the moisture in the air. When she had everything in her grasp, Kula smiled brightly to Michelangelo again and she raised her arms up and parted them as she hopped on one leg in a cheerful manner. This sudden change of mood completely confused the red masked wily Turtle, and suddenly, Michelangelo felt a blast of cold slamming down onto him as a snowman seemingly had been conjured from the air and dropped onto the Turtle.

“SNOWMAN!!” Kula shouted and giggled.

“AAAAUGH!! COLD! COLD!! COLD!! NO FAIR, ELSA!! AAAAAUGH!!” Michelangelo shouted.

The opening had been made which Kula had been hoping for. She focused on the energy within herself and manipulated the energy with her cryokinetic abilities. She then directed this energy to move down to her legs, and now she pushed herself forward as she now skate towards the red masked Turtle. With each slide of her feet she made, large spikes of ice trailed on afterwards as she zeroed right in on Michelangelo. The red masked wily Turtle widened his eyes at what he was seeing as Kula moved in with her Frozen Arena technique. Michelangelo pounced to the side and dove out of the path of the petite blue haired girl, and barely managed to evade the rising sharp blades of ice. He took in several deep breathes, eyes still widen from seeing what had transpired.

Frantically, the mutant Red Ear Slider pushed himself to his feet but now gasped as Kula turned in her skating, now moving to face the Turtle as she now raised her arms up and again focused her cyrokinesis. Particles of ice would move towards Kula’s hands causing them to frost over as she then hunched down and slammed her hands to the ground, and like before— sharp blades of ice now erupted from the ground, moving right in towards Michelangelo as she unleashed her Diamond Edge technique.

“NONONONONONONONO!!” Michelangelo frantically shouted as he now threw his weight to the right, moving to evade the incoming blades of ice by rolling away from them as fast as he could.

Kula grinned happily as she now had the Turtle on the run, and it was clear to her that he might have been afraid of her. The former NESTS assassin kept her focus over her powers and she raised her arms overhead and held her hands open as she focused on gathering cold air and moisture to her grasp. And now particles of ice would gather within her palms, and she now focused on intensifying the cold to her liking and took aim for Michelangelo. The red masked ninja now widened his eyes at what he was seeing and quickly turned to run from his opponent.

“Hee hee hee hee! Thanks for playing with Kula!” The blue haired girl smiled.

Kula turned in a spin to now once more look in the direction to face the fleeting Turtle and the direction he seemed to be moving towards. She then held her arms out and now fired off a transparent sphere of cold air and moisture at the Turtle and the sphere zeroed right in towards Michelangelo as she unleashed her Glacier Ridge finisher.

“MIKEY WATCH OUT!!” Leonardo shouted.

Michelangelo ran towards a concrete wall and now raised his left leg up, planting his foot onto the wall and continued running as fast as he could, moving up the surface of the wall about six feet before he would push himself up and back only to somersault over the incoming cryokinetic sphere and soon landed feet first onto the ground. Michelangelo then watched as the wall now would become frozen over and entombed in a cylinder of ice. The Turtle turned, now facing his opponent as Kula skate quickly in towards him. The red masked ninja then watched as she once more turned to spin like a Ballerina on the ice she was trailing, and carefully read her body movements. When she pushed herself up and took to the air, she turned to spin in the air once more and raised her right leg up, and focused her ice abilities to cause her right foot to frost and ice over, arcing ice and cold air for Michelangelo’s head as she performed her Ray Spin technique.

The Turtle leaned back and widened his eyes as he watched Kula’s foot pass over him, and he moved with the motion as he moved his arms down and planted his hands to the ground, now flipping back and evaded the incoming attack. Setting himself to his feet, Michelangelo then tensed up his leg muscles and he pushed himself forward and up, only to swing his left knee up and firmly struck it directly underneath Kula’s chin. As a follow up, Michelangelo thrust both his arms down, his elbows bent and slammed them firmly onto the top of Kula’s head.

Without any warning, Kula suddenly had her weight suddenly pulled down by gravity and she dropped onto the gravel like a sack of bricks. Michelangelo landed onto his feet and he twirled his nunchaku in a figure eight motion, then vertically upward and down—catching the tethered clubs underneath his arms as he snapped into his fighting stance. He stared down upon the blue haired girl and watched for any movements. The red masked Turtle counted to ten, and when he reached the final second… He slowly stepped back, not even daring to take his eyes off the unconscious former NEST assassin and then breathed a sigh of relief as he moved his way to his brothers.

“Damn, dudes… That was CRAZY! I mean we’ve been fighting people with super powers in this tournament but a girl who could control ice like that? That’s… that’s insane! Nothing short of a miracle that I made it out!” Michelangelo spoke out with a bit of shock in his voice.

“Mikey, I’ve beaten down two dudes who were able to use fire… If I could do that, then you could beat a girl who was able to control ice like that. Buck up, man. You won this one.” Raphael responded.

“Yeah… You’ve done really well in this tournament! So you should pat yourself on the back, Mike.” Donatello nodded.

Maxima and the Kunoichi then turned their sights to one another and pondered to who would be going next. The larger combatant then breathed an exasperated sigh and then he rolled his shoulders forward as he now stepped towards the middle of the construction site. Maxima now looked over to the Turtles, and he had to admit for a bunch of funny looking contenders who had some weird theme going on— they were pretty solid when it came to fighting.

“Alright. Guess it’s just down to me and my last teammate over there. So I’m stepping up to bat… Which one of you Turtle guys is gonna come up?” Maxima asked as he turned his head from side to side, snapping his neck bones to undo whatever stiffness had been there.

Michelangelo looked over to Raphael, and gestured with his right hand but the hot-headed Turtle shook his head from side to side as it had been his turn already. Then the two siblings looked to Donatello and Leonardo as they were the remaining two who hadn’t even so much as had a chance to fight yet. Leonardo looked over to Maxima, and then stared to the mysterious Kunoichi who was now eying him and his brothers. Whoever this person was seemed to clearly want to be saved for last. This was something which… Leonardo couldn’t help but find quite intriguing of course. The field leader of the Turtles then looked to Donatello and nudged his head up.

“Donnie…”

Donatello blinked his eyes as he now realized what Leonardo seemed to be suggesting. The intellectual Turtle turned around and now glanced to Michelangelo and Raphael, as he was curious to see their reactions. Raphael bit down onto his lower lip and Michelangelo merely shrugged his shoulders. The intellectual mutant Red Ear Slider knew that out of all of his brothers, he had been having the worst luck of them all in this tournament as he had suffered more draw outcomes than any of the others. The results of his last match up had disheartened the Turtle, putting him to doubt his own abilities and even his gadgets. But the purpose of this tournament was to measure each and every one of his abilities, as well as his brothers. Donatello swallowed whatever saliva had been in his mouth and now reached up with his right arm and took hold of the metal electro-staff in his grasp and drew his weapon. Donatello stepped forth, making his way over to Maxima now as he took in a deep breath of air through his nostrils and released a bit of an anxious sigh from within.

“Now that’s what I like to see, a guy who’s not afraid to lose!”

The red masked intellectual Turtle then spun his staff swiftly in a figure eight motion and then swung it down only to tuck the weapon underneath his right arm and he stared intently over at Maxima. Donatello took the moment to observe his opponent, noting his rather large build and deduced that this man might have a strength based fighting style. But then Maxima batted his fisted together, causing a small shockwave from his knuckles as a means of displaying his superhuman strength. It was at this moment that Donatello began to piece together that there might be more to his opponent than what he had thought initially.

Perhaps fighting straight up wouldn’t be wise… Donatello took a moment to now observe his surroundings, working to now figure how to use his environment to the best of his advantage.

“So… are you ready to do this?” Maxima asked.

“I suppose there’s no other way around this… I’m ready!” Donatello nodded.

Maxima nodded as he snapped into his fighting stance, and Donatello shifted back to his own battle posture. A few seconds in, Maxima now took off and rushed right at the intellectual Turtle but Donatello side-stepped to his left and he reached down to his utility belt with his left hand and then took hold of a smoke pellet— only to now throw it at Maxima’s feet and a burst of flame erupted, forcing Maxima to step back in surprise and a waft of smoke now obscured his vision. Maxima waved his hands about, working to push the smoke from his view but when he looked ahead— Donatello was gone from sight!

“Huh… Neat trick but that’s not gonna work on me!”

Maxima set his visual sensors to switch from spectrum to thermal infrared. He now saw the world all around him as a dark blue in color and the buildings and vehicles which were in the area were seen as a darker blue or even black in color. But then he had looked to the direction of the Turtles and realized… he couldn’t even see them, at least not so clearly anyway as they seemed to be difficult to spot.

“What the…?” Maxima raised his left brow in a perplexed manner.

Donatello slowly rose up from behind the larger man, his electrified bo-staff gripped firmly in his grasp. The red masked ninja then set his sights on the back of Maxima’s head and he immediately thrust his staff forward while pressing the button on the center grip of his weapon— causing his staff to surge with electricity, intending on landing a crucial blow on his opponent.

The third match between the Turtles and K’ Team now began… But can Donatello triumph over his own doubts as well as his opponent?

So the next match between the Mirage Turtles and K' Team has been posted up and it also happens to be on the day of the Super Bowl. Hopefully the Football event won't be too much of a distraction for readers to not be involved.

Writing the recap for the last match between Michelangelo and Kula Diamond was relatively interesting because we have two of the more light hearted characters from both respective teams. Michelangelo is very much considered to be the most easy going of the Turtles, though he's definitely not at all the goofball which we see in most incarnations of the TMNT but generally is the more light hearted of the Turtles and Kula Diamond is a character who despite her past as an assassin for NESTS, is very much childlike and generally just wants to have fun even in a KOF tournament where fighting is involved, so naturally there had to be some level of humor put into this. I certainly hope that it comes across in the recap, because I wanted to reflect the personality of both characters here. I want to think that I did an alright job of that, especially with Michelangelo and Kula Diamond.

Having that said... I officially now dread writing out matches for Donatello. Out of all of the Turtles, he seems to be the one who is always taking the one for the team and generally suffers the outcome of having a draw outcome in his matches. And unfortunately for him-- he seems to have drawn the short stick in fighting someone like Maxima, a superhuman fighter with cyborg enhancements according to KOF lore. But if you all know the original 1987 TMNT theme, you all know that Donatello does machines, so he might have something of a niche that he can fill here in fighting things like cyborgs. Not to mention, the TMNT over all have fought things such as extraterrestrial robots and even terrestrial cyborgs, such as a cybernetically enhanced Baxter Stockman and if we count Turtles Forever, even Utrom Shredder as well. So Donatello for the most part... has experience in dealing with such enemies.

Also, I kind of gave Donatello a bit of a leg up in that that the TMNT are cold-blooded, this was explicitly mentioned or alluded to in Mirage's TMNT Vol.4 run in that Raphael mentions that as a cold blooded reptile, he hates the cold. Whether or not he was being sarcastic, is up to interpretation but it stands to reason that the Turtles, despite being mutants, are still cold blooded reptiles and thus-- would be harder to see with thermal infrared vision.

None the less, hopefully this will be a good match.

Remember-- ENVIRONMENT IS ALSO A FACTOR IN THIS BATTLE! Something I feel like people need to seriously consider.

For new readers who are just hopping onto this storyline here, I suggest you look at the Mirage TMNT Respect Thread to see what the Mirage Turtles are more than capable of.

--

Donatello (Mirage) is low tier superhuman in terms of physicals. Think Above Peak Human due to his mutation.

Donatello (Mirage) possesses a new Electro Bo-Staff, Electro Shurikens, Explosive Shurikens, Kunai and Modified Laser Equipped Roomba.

Maxima has mid-tier superhuman strength due to Cybernetic Enhancements from NESTS.

Maxima has his moveset from the KOF games.

Yeah, this is a bad pull for Donetello. Sure he does machines but in battle he relies on his brothers to engage the enemy alot while he comes up with something. Here he's on his own so it is to be it up to Donnie. No keeping Maxima busy while he prepares something.

But here's the thing, Donatello does have some advantages against Maxima... Specifically stealth in that Maxima's thermal infrared vision here doesn't really help him, as the TMNT are very much likely cold blooded-- at least hinted at in the Mirage continuity anyway. I know that they can function fine enough in cold weather climates in most adaptations and even Mirage, but if Raphael saying that they're still cold blooded is anything to go by-- that MIGHT be of an advantage to Donatello which he could potentially capitalize on.

Also, the TMNT have fought robotic and cybernetic enemies-- namely a cyborg version of Baxter Stockman who essentially was superhuman in the Mirage continuity.

Another great set-up, Rakai, and my bad for getting to it this late. RL stuffs have kept me pretty busy this week, so I've had to slowly play catch-up with the matches here.

A lot to unpack here ...

First of all, great recap with Michelangelo and Kula. The fight was rightfully intense and funny, while capturing Kula's outwardly-innocent nature, and maybe even some of Mikey's humor from the 03' series:

If only the '03 series was on the air when Frozen came out ... :D

Also, while Mirage Raph has said that he hates fighting in the cold, I've always wondered if the Turtles are broadly cold-blooded across all media. Every time I've seen them have to operate in the cold, it never really seemed to affect them any more than humans, at least in the first three animated shows.

But I digress. As for the match, knowingly or not, the fact that you pitted Donatello against the big bruiser of this group kind of references the fact that Donnie himself was the hardest hitter of the OG NES game, something that was also referenced a few times in the '03 series whenever Donnie made out to be the muscle in certain combat situations.

I don't think Donatello can match strength with Maxima, but he can likely hold his own while he figures out another way to take him down. Using his electro-staff at the start was a good idea for him, and being the technician of the group, Donnie can probably find other ways to target Maxima's cybernetic components. He's also likely quick enough to evade many of Maxima's power moves. Also, a construction area usually provides a lot of opportunities for dodging, escape, and certain "mishaps".

A lot at stake for Mikey here, but he managed to pull if off pretty well, albeit with several close calls. Kula was dominating the fight for much of it, which can probably be expected to some extent, as the Turtles haven't typically faced a cryokinetic before, nor one like Kula, but Mikey's abilities and training helped to pull him through here, which is a great testament to his growth as a martial artist. Not as many quips from him as most people would expect, but as with Raphael, his jokey, larger than life persona is only a part of his character overall, and the more mature aspects, the more serious martial artist, is the truer form of Michelangelo, which you manage to display here quite well Rakai. This was another intense read, and if Kula wasn't seeming to be so innocent about it, in her own way, her usage of her ice abilities to face Michelangelo would have been seen as sadistic from a point of view, but that in and of its self also adds a little bit to the charm of this bout between them as a whole.

Maxima is a tough opponent for almost any of the Turtles to face, but Donatello might have a somewhat more decent advantage to him than some of the others due to his familiarity with tech. Now, while that won't mean that he can outdo Maxima's technological hacking or advanced technology with what he has on hand, it does mean that he is at least aware of it enough to some extent, that he can devise a way to counter it in certain ways. For example, he doesn't necessarily need to outdo or out perform Maxima's tech, in order to devise a way to damage or destroy it in a fight, instead he just has to put his knowledge to use in devising a strategy to attack and weaken it with what he has on hand. Donnie's own tech, plus the elements of the construction site should be enough to keep Maxima at bay, and even potentially best him, if utilized in a way that can hinder Maxima's tech and capabilities. So long as Donnie can dodge and avoid most of Maxima's attacks, and both create and utilize these openings, I can see him winning this fight.

Heck, Spider-Man managed to defeat Juggernaut himself once using concrete, so I think Donatello will find a way to defeat Maxima here.

Yeah, I wanted to inject some humor here because we're talking about two of the most light hearted characters who happen to have dark origins here, and now that I think about it-- Michelangelo and Kula actually compliment one another here. Both were intended to kill and dispose of their enemies, and afterwards they later on had become easy going and even light hearted individuals. So I guess the humor here was very much appropriate here.

As to whether or not the Turtles are cold-bloode or not depends on which version of the TMNT we're talking about but one thing is certain, it has been consistently shown that they have been able to operate and fight just fine in the cold-- even in the Mirage continuity. So really... I don't think the cold bothers them too, too much because they're not ordinary reptiles anymore thanks to the Mutagen in their bloodstream.

Yeah, as I said-- Donatello tended to draw the shortstick here but he has also dealt with someone who has comparable strength to Maxima in the KOF tournament, and that was Goro Daimon, and Donatello managed to defeat him. So there's something to consider there, and I had completely forgotten about that myself. And yeah, i figured that Donatello would have to utilize other means of fighting Maxima, rather than fighting him straight up and instead opting for stealth and distraction to get in whatever hits he can, and when he can-- he has to make them count. And since Donatello does machines, well... that might help him out here.

And no, I had no inkling that I was referencing the NES game or even a few times the 03 series made Donatello be the muscle of the group in certain scenarios!

Thanks for commenting!

Yeah, I wanted to convey that the Turtles had ever fought someone who had ice manipulation abilities-- and that's something which hasn't been explored in the Mirage canon as far as I know. None the less, I wanted to really make this a difficult fight for Michelangelo despite the outcome of the votes and I think I did a fair enough job of that. Kula had the advantage of climate temperature control here, and as far as I know-- extreme cold temperatures do send reptiles into a hibernative or bruminated state of being, and I would think that might be something which Kula would've wanted to capitalize on-- even when she is not out to kill someone. I had a feeling that Michelangelo would've had a hard time with her and I wanted to show that, and this a push for him to see how he could deal with someone like Kula.

FINALLY-- someone acknowledges that not ever battle is won through strength and power alone, but intelligence and wit can also play a determining factor. Maxima definitely outclasses Donatello in terms of physicals because of his cybernetic enhancements, but even in the Mirage continuity, Donatello has face physically superior foes before be they Triceratons, Mythology Entities, or even Cybernetic beings. I really like the breakdown and analogy of you even mentioning that someone like Spider-Man could beat Juggernaut by thinking quite cleverly.
