Donatello gripped his electrified bo-staff within his grasp, spinning the weapon in a figure eight motion and then swung the weapon upwards as he intended to strike away at the chin of his opponent and then brought the back end of the blunt weapon down to slam it down on the top of the mercenary’s head. Clark immediately had swerved himself to the right and weaved to the left to evade the incoming weapon. Quickly, he rushed in as he aimed to reach out with his arms to get Donatello in his grasp but the red masked reptile immediately brought his weapon down and firmly planted it onto the ground, only to then vault himself upward and swung himself around to the right and kicked both his feet out— firmly impacting Clark in his side, causing the man to stumble and lose his footing. Clark would drop onto the ground before he quickly placed his hands onto the ground and bolted to his feet. Donatello just took in a deep breath of air through his nostrils and released a sigh to calm himself.

Ever since his battles with both Andy Bogard and Bonne Jenet resulting in draw outcomes, the Turtle’s own faith in his own level of skill and training had been put into question. And right now, he certainly could use a win against a strong opponent to find himself once more.

Clark against rushed in and the man immediately went onto the offensive as he quickly then snapped his left leg forward and out, aiming to land a front kick onto Donatello’s mid-section but the genius reptile held his weapon out, using the middle of his staff to block away at the incoming kick. Then Clark swiftly turned with his hips and he thrust his left and right arm out to strike away at Donatello’s head. In response to this, the Turtle would quickly twirl his staff and use the weapon to block and divert the punches away from him before he would move his arms out and then thrust his staff forward and out, using the blunt end to firmly strike and push Clark away from him for the moment. But Clark was persistent, as he shifted forward with a step and clasped his hands together, swinging upwards for Donatello’s chin. The Turtle had leaned back away from the incoming strike, and he retaliated by snapping his right leg forward in a front kick, planting his foot onto Clark’s mid-section to push the mercenary away. To Donatello’s surprise, the man’s mid-section felt like brick. Despite the Turtle succeeding in getting some space between himself and his opponent, it was clear that this man was a physical power house.

“Come on, Donnie! You can do this!” Michelangelo shouted, clapping his hands to cheer on his brother.

Recalling his short-comings in his previous match, Donatello then swallowed whatever doubt which was plaguing him and he went onto the offensive now as he stepped forward and quickly rushed towards Clark. As he neared the mercenary, he immediately turned in a spin to the left and swung his weapon across as he took aim for Clark’s head. The veteran had hunched down, evading the incoming strike from Donatello but the red masked reptile then twirled his staff in a figure eight motion and he swung the back end of his staff downward. Clark swiftly moved back and when the staff came down for him, he side-stepped to the right and managed to evade the weapon.

Donatello then spun the staff within his hands, and then slammed it to the ground as he then used the staff as a support as he cartwheeled to the right, and swung his legs across only to smack them firmly across Clark’s face solidly. The mercenary grunted from the blow and he quickly shook his head from side to side. Donatello swung his staff upward, going for his opponent’s chin once more but Clark moved his hands down— now taking hold of the weapon firmly in his grasp and yanked the Turtle in towards him.

With tremendous strength, Clark managed to heave Donatello up off from the ground and hoisted him onto his shoulders, only to then toss him up into the air. The red masked genius couldn’t help but feel momentary weightlessness and then was caught, now feeling a brief strain as Clark managed to get him in the Super Argentine Backbreaker. But then Clark tossed the mutant Red Ear Slider onto the parking lot ground, and then followed up by leaning down and moving his right arm’s elbow out— executing the Flashing Elbow as he intended to slam it onto Donatello’s mid-section.

“Wait a minute… I’ve… I was put through that attack!” Raphael exclaimed.

Donatello felt something slamming down onto his plastron and he grunted upon the impact, but the natural body armor withstood the attack fully. Clark couldn’t help but blink in momentary confusion—feeling that the plastron was a lot harder than something like cushioned rubber or latex.

Seeing the confusion on Clark’s face, Donatello seized the opportunity as he then reared his legs back and thrust them forward—firmly impacting both his feet into the veteran’s head.

Clark shook his head from side to side, and he grunted in a moment of mild frustration at being caught off guard like that. He rushed in ahead, and the man quickly swung his left leg back across to the left as he performed a crescent styled kick, intending on hitting Donatello’s head but the red masked Turtle had raised his staff and managed to block the kick head on. Fluidly, the reptile spun his staff and then swung the weapon horizontally over from right to left, and vice versa. Clark raised his arms in defense of himself, taking the firm strikes onto his forearms and his biceps as Donatello would swiftly land those solid blows onto him, leaving red markings and gray ones onto the veteran. Then Donatello threw his weight upward and he pushed himself upwards, now bringing both his legs up and smacked his feet directly into Clark’s chin. Upon landing feet first and setting himself proper, Donatello rushed in and he would quickly take aim at his opponent’s body and head, positioning his next attack.

Without any hesitation, Donatello released a quick succession of thrusts from his staff and struck Clark firmly in his chest, mid-section, shoulders, and his forehead. The veteran grunted out and he immediately raised his arms to withstand the blows from the Turtle, but was having difficulty in doing so. He instinctively moved his arms out and took a hold of the staff once more to pull the Turtle in. Quickly, Clark moved to a spin as he then swung his left arm across to the left, intending on striking Donatello firmly across his face and follow it up by raising his right arm upward to slam his fist directly underneath his chin— performing the Gatling Attack.

Donatello immediately was struck firmly across his head and then the blow underneath his chin came, causing him to fly back and slam down onto the hood of a nearby vehicle. The red masked genius shook his head from side to side, working to fight off the immediate pain which his head was going through.

“That’s another attack I went through… Don watch out for this guy! He fights almost the same like the last one!” Raphael shouted.

Donatello had raised his sights as soon as Clark hopped up onto the hood of the car which Donatello current laid upon, and he immediately clasped both his hands together and raised his arms, now bringing them down to slam them onto the Turtle’s head. Donatello quickly rolled to his right and managed to evade the fists as they came down and left a sizeable dent onto the hood. Clark moved in pursuit of the Turtle, and he rushed in after him. Donatello then had positioned his staff forward, and firmly gripped his weapon— he spun it, bringing the lower back end of the staff up to strike away at Clark’s chin but the mercenary leaned back away from the staff. However, Donatello brought his staff back and swung the back end across to the right, firmly smacking Clark in his stomach region and spun around the man only to then swung his staff across once more— firmly smacking it into his opponent’s back. Clark was sent flying forward, now hitting himself face first into the side of a nearby concrete support beam. The mercenary hit the ground and groaned as he writhed in pain but slowly rolled to his chest and planted his feet down onto the ground to rise to his full stature once more.

The red masked Turtle quickly ran forward, moving to his opponent and turned in a spin to the right as he then arced his right leg across, now taking aim for his opponent’s mid-section as he performed a spinning back wheel kick and followed up by swinging his staff across in the same direction, and then spun the weapon upward and down with the intent to strike the mercenary up on his chin and down on the top of his head.

Clark hunched down from the incoming kick, and instead was met by the staff across his face—and he stumbled a few steps until he felt something striking up his chin and onto the top of his head. In a moment of frustration and discomfort, Clark now then tensed up all of the muscles within his body and he thrust his right arm forward and out in rapid succession like a machine gun— the Vulcan Punch was deployed, and his fist impacted Donatello onto his head and mid-section. The Turtle grunted on impact after sustaining the blows, and then the next thing which he felt was a pair of hands grabbing onto the back of his shell and then felt his opponent’s knee slamming into his plastron, before he suddenly felt his weight now being heaved and tossed while Clark moved in a spin. Donatello had slammed into the side of a support beam, his shell withstanding the impact but the force was enough cause the beam to crack upon impact.

“MMMPH!”

The Turtle hit the ground and winced in discomfort as he now raised his eyes and widened them to see Clark rushing in towards him. Donatello then moved his left hand to his utility belt and then took hold of a smoke pellet, only to fling his right hand forward and tossed it at Clark’s feet. The brief burst of flame caused the mercenary to stop in his tracks and smoke wafted upwards. Clark coughed from the sudden intake of smoke as he unintentionally breathed in in, and quickly waved his hands to move the smoke away from himself.

Donatello quickly took the moment to rise to his feet and he immediately rushed over towards a nearby vehicle and pushed himself up, now hopping onto the hood of the parked car and ran towards the back only to somersault off from it and quickly took off in another direction. As soon as the smokescreen cleared, Clark Still now stared from his sunglasses and now widened his eyes to see that his opponent seemingly had disappeared.

“What the--?” Clark now stepped forward, moving further down the parking spaces as he would move along the rows of cars, trucks and vans as well as the support beams in the parking garage. He peered between the numerous vehicles, and even moved around the support beams to search for the red masked genius.

There was the sound of movement followed by mechanical whirring sounds and Clark stopped in his tracks as he now turned to suddenly look down at what seemed to be something completely unexpected. So unexpected that Clark couldn’t really help but move his head back and blink. A small, silver colored, flat and circular object—if he didn’t know any better, it was a Roomba. A small home appliance meant for vacuuming floors… What a Roomba was doing here, he couldn’t help but wonder.

And it was at this very moment, the Roomba opened it’s top and a small barrel raised it’s head up and then released thin red beams of concentrated energy at Clark.

“OH SHI-! OH!! OW!!”

Clark was met with the beams of energy and he skipped back away from the Roomba. But the little machine rolled along and quickly released repeated red beams, leaving reddened marks onto Clark’s skin on his mid-section and onto his arms. Clark quickly turned and now ran as fast as he could away from the Roomba, but the little machine soon followed him as it continued to fire the beams. The mercenary ran down the aisle of parked cars and even moved in circles, intending on outrunning the little machine.

But Clark was suddenly met by a three fingered green fist as it moved out from behind a concrete support beam and the hand made contact with the middle of his face. Donatello then would swung his left leg diagonally upward as he performed a roundhouse kick, firmly smacking Clark hard onto his face and then followed up twirling his staff within his grasp and then firmly struck Clark onto his shoulders, arms and his mid-section. The red masked genius quickly then had moved his staff downward and across, striking across Clark’s ankles and causing the mercenary to fall onto his back. Seizing the moment, Donatello raised his staff upward and brought it down, firmly striking Clark onto his mid-section as he repeatedly brought the steel staff down.

Clark Still couldn’t help but wheeze and gasp as each blow landed onto him, and he raised his arms up in a defensive manner as he worked to endure the blows which were being inflicted upon him. Clark rolled to his left, and then scrambled to his feet. In response to the punishment dealt, Clark turned with his hips and he’d swing his right and left arm across as he intended to strike Donatello firmly across his face but the Turtle swung his staff to counter and intercept the man’s punches. Clark followed up by then leaning forward and snapping his left leg forward and out, but Donatello circled around his opponent— moving away from the kick. He thrust his arms outward, moving his staff and used it to push away at the veteran and caused Clark to stumble towards a concrete support beam.

Donatello ran forward and he firmly planted his feet onto Clark’s bent knees, and he kicked both his feet up as he threw his weight upward and back. Clark felt his chin being impacted and his head snapped back. He slumped against the support beam and the mercenary worked to keep his composure as he struggled to stand.

But the Turtle saw how close to victory he was, and worked to advance toward it. He pressed down onto the button on the middle of his staff, and the genius Turtle then thrust his staff forward and firmly struck Clark into his mid-section and pinned him against the support beam. An electrical current surged through the metal weapon and conducted into Clark. Clark spasm and twitched as he grunted from discomfort and pain.  Donatello removed his staff and watched as his opponent dropped onto his knees and hit the ground as he dropped forward.

The match concluded.

Donatello raised his right arm up and stepped over towards the Roomba which was rolling in towards him and he had hunched down and moved his left arm out— taking a hold of the little device. He turned and now smiled over to his brothers, and the red masked genius moved over towards his siblings.

“Nice win there, Donatello!” Michelangelo exclaimed.

Raphael grinned to the intellectual Turtle and raised his right hand up, giving him a thumbs up.

Leona and Whip looked over towards one another and unspoken words were exchanged. It was only left between those two and now they needed to decide as to who would be going first. Leona Heidern now stepped forward and then the blue haired Ikari warrior just lookd over to the unconscious forms of both Ralph Jones and Clark Still. A blank expression remained on her face, and she simply stared over to the Turtles for a moment.

Michelangelo looked over to the direction of the two remaining Ikari Warriors and nudged his head up to get the attention of his brothers. Leonardo, Donatello and Raphael stared over to Leona and saw the look on her face—there was something different about this woman, she was very calm and collected— more so than her fallen comrades anyway.

“So… I’m guessing it’s going to be my turn.” Leona spoke out.

The Turtles looked over towards one another and then moved closer to one another as they reached out and huddled with one another, arms resting over their shells as they began to whisper their next game plan.

“Okay, we won two out of four here— we’re definitely in the lead thanks to Raphael and Donatello. Seriously guys, good work.” Leonardo spoke out.

“Well, Raphael and Donatello need to rest up for a bit in case they gotta fight again!” Michelangelo responded.

“What are you talking about? I’m ready to go and take on another one!” Raphael growled.

“No, Mikey has a point here Raph! We all need to play this smart and take whatever time we get to rest up a bit. Gather whatever strength we can get in case we need to enter the fray again!” Donatello interjected.

Leonardo stared over to his brothers, and he had taken in a deep breath of air through his nostrils and held in his breath as he closed his eyes. The red masked ninja recalled how he had suffered a crushing loss at the hands of Terry Bogard and a disheartening draw match against his protégé, Rock Howard. The ninja now recalled all of the lessons which Master Splinter had taught him, replaying every single one in his head.

“Do you all have faith in me as a leader?” Leonardo asked.

“Unquestionably. Your leadership has kept us alive through out these years, Leo.” Donatello reassured.

“Shit, you might be a pain in my ass but I gotta give props… You know what you’re doing when you need to do it.” Raphael grunted.

“Dude, you got this!” Michelangelo smiled.

Leonardo opened up his eyes, a cold steely gaze now meeting his brothers before he had turned around and now stepped forward to meet his next opponent. The red masked ninja now stepped forth, moving to where Leona had happened be and he paused with only eight feet of space between the two of them.

“Alright, I’m ready. I’m going to be your next opponent.”

Leona took a moment to survey her opponent, moving her eyes up and down as she sized him up. Whoever and whatever these Turtle fighters were supposed to be, the fact that they had come this far in the tournament was no easy feat and already they had made a name for themselves. Leona nodded once in regards to Leonardo’s statement, and she prepared herself as she shifted into her own fighting stance.

The blue haired Ikari fighter flattened her hands and set herself proper.

“Target acquired. Mission start.”

Leonardo then moved his arms up and to the back of his shell as he then took hold of the red cloth braided handles of his twin steel ninjaken and drew the weapons out. He snapped back into his own battle posture and readied his blades in guarding positioning as he now took a moment to survey his surroundings, and surveyed over his opponent.

Leona and Leonardo continued to stare to one another, neither of them flinching or making a movement. What seemed to be a brief moment seemed like an eternity to the two of them— until one of them broke into a sprint, with Leona taking the initiative.

The Turtle took in a deep breath of air and then stepped forth, taking off into his own rush.

The third match between the Turtles and Team Ikari commenced.

So the next part in writing up the Mirage Turtles storyline is finally posted up and this time it's between Leonardo and Leona Heidern. Writing up the recap between Donatello and Clark Still was something easy on account that I managed to find a video of Clark's moveset and surprisingly, he has almost the exact same moves as Ralf Jones except he was more of a grappler than a strike fighter. So I did my best to incorporate as many of his moves into the recap as best as possible. And of course, I wanted to have Donatello use some of the many gadgets which he happened to have. Interestingly enough, Clark was also the second male opponent whom Donatello managed to win against that didn't result in a tie, the first being Chang. Maybe having Donatello fight more male characters will have people take him more seriously? I don't know but that's a thought which went through my mind.

Anyway, the next match up is between Leonardo and Leona-- who interestingly enough are both Leos in this fight, Leonardo, Leona... first letters in their name being L-E-O. Eh, don't mind me... Just something which I found interesting considering this was all unintentional anyway.

For new readers who are just hopping onto this storyline here, I suggest you look at the Mirage TMNT Respect Thread to see what the Mirage Turtles are more than capable of.

Leonardo is Low Tier Superhuman in terms of physicals. Think Above Peak Human due to his mutation and training.

Leonardo possesses his Twin Ninjaken, Shurikens, Smoke Bombs, and Kunai.

Leona Heidern is in Peak Conditioning due to his training.

Leona Heidern has her moveset from the KOF games.

Leona can BRIEFLY access her Orochi state for TEN SECONDS before she MUST return to her base state otherwise she will risk losing control.

I was wondering how you were going to deal with Leona's orochi blood. I think the parameters you set work well and are in line with her reveal trailer for KOF XVI where she taps into her Orochi blood momentarily for supers but that is it. Even in small bursts though it is going to be a lot to handle for Leo. In her crazed Orochi state she was taking on entire teams solo. And without the Orochi blood, Leona is still a really good fighter with her crazy chops and sticky bombs.

With all that said, a highly motivated Leo might still be too skilled for her. Hmmmm I'm not sure.

Thanks for commenting!

Yeah, there's definitely something going on with how Leona's Orochi power works and she can only handle using it for a short amount of time before she loses control. So to cope, she has to release it immediately and return to base form.

I would think that Leonardo is highly motivated to redeem himself again. And considering the terrain, I am pretty sure that Leonardo is going to use it to his fullest ability. He might even take out the lights or possibly use misdirection to get an advantage. After one loss and a draw, Leonardo is very highly motivated.

Orochi characters have been beaten by seemingly normal characters i.e., Goro Daimon defeating Vice on a full speeding train. So Leo has a decent chance.

I'm liking this trend you have going Rakai, as each match is tending to get more and more visceral in terms of how much damage and pain the fighters are feeling in each battle. These fights would very feasible get quite intense and quite exhausting for those involved, and it stands to reason that each side would not let the other win their matches easily, so the struggle really works well in terms of both story and realism, for each battle. To me, I can see it working out well for you in terms of how you are crafting the overall story and sense of urgency of each match, as each fighter and each match is important more and more overall for the teams involved if they hope to not only win, but also keep a sense of prestige and reputation among other fighters and their potential students, so in that it can be said that this trend really does work well here.

The Roomba bit was creative on your part as well as pretty funny too, as it fits the type of person Donnie is, while not going all the way into Michelangelo territory with the comedy, and in that it continues to fit the narrative and the turtle portrayed in the individual match as well, granting the story a sense of connection with the character, which works in bringing the piece more and more together, so I do find that a pretty good and pretty intriguing aspect that I think you should continue to pursue as you continue to work on each match you do in the future as well.

Leonardo has he work cut out for here, as Leona is a very fast and very powerful fighter who has a number of energy sword based attacks along with a few explosive attacks with which she can keep him at bay with. What Leo has that Leona doesn't however, is durability and experience, Leo is far more durable than Leona for sure, as his physiology in being a ninja turtle would certainly grant him more durable and defensive capabilities than most other fighters out there, primary due to the plastron, but also due to other factors as well, so his durability would notable outlast Leona's based on that, and experience wise Leo is would also outmatch Leona as well, as while Leona may have experience against a wide variety of fighters from her own universe, Leo has perhaps an even greater sense of experience of fighting and facing off against opponents who Leona herself would likely struggle with if she were to face them herself and alone, not to say Leona is a slouch there either, but in that too Leo has her beat. To sum it up, Leona will certainly give Leo a fight, perhaps even more of one than both Raph and Donatello faced with their opponents, however Leo still has some edges against her, and if he plays into them, and into his other strengths I'm thinking that it is possible he could come out on top.

As always, thank you for the analysis there Z451!

The Roomba was definitely taken from Injustice 2, specifically with the ability which Donatello has which is to utilize devices which is meant to hinder the opponent. I do know that with his Legendary Weapon in the game, his Roomba (or Doomba, as it's called in the game) is modified and later equipped with a laser to deal some damage onto opponents. So it was definitely inspired with that one.

As for the match between Leonardo and Leona, you definitely nailed the analysis right there and I appreciate your take on the breakdown between the advantages and disadvantages which both fighters have here. That is absolutely something which I quite like to hear when it comes to you commenting on these fights which I work to put here on the CBUB!

Another great set-up, Rakai. I like how Donnie used his head (and his plastron) about as much as his skills to beat Clark. Heh, lethal Roomba. :D

As for this match ... man, Leo and Raph routinely get the toughest match-ups, which is probably as it should be. Leona seems to have some serious attack power, and she seems to take combat as least as seriously as Leonardo. Still, as mentioned, Leo just might have more skill and more varied experience in foes, and he already gave a more powerful opponent than Leona in Terry Bogard a very good fight in this arc. I think Leo would win, but it may not be easy.

I’m not too familiar with Leona, but the fact that she’s apparently tough enough to stalemate Lars Alexandersson (Tekken) leaves me perplexed: is she really tough enough to go toe to toe with a guy who fights and beats devil gene characters? Or were there just one or two blind witnesses who clearly didn’t know the strength levels of those characters?

Regardless, great match and write up as always Rakai! I’ll grade it a 4.8!

Her stalemating someone like Lars Alexandersson is a first which I have heard but we have to keep in mind, Leona DOESN'T have full control over her Orochi power. She seemingly can only access and control it for a few seconds in-game for Supers. It provides a burst of power but only for an extremely short amount of time.

Leonardo on the other hand has the experience and skill card over her as a lot of people have said.

The match ends today... so we're gonna see who wins.

Knowing Leonardo's luck with the votes recently... I'm rooting for him to take it for a change.

Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if the match wrapped sometime tomorrow night. From what I've seen, CBUB matches have been running around five and 1/2 days since the re-opening.
