Leonardo, Michelangelo and Raphael watched as Donatello and Bonne Jenet engaged one another in aggressive competition. Already the Turtles had managed to secure two wins against the opposing team, although Rock Howard managed to land a draw against Leonardo in his own match and both Raphael and Michelangelo managed to secure two victories against Khushnood Butt and Hotaru Futaba. And now there was possibly only one match left for the two teams to participate. Leonardo couldn’t help but feel as if his own level of skill and the efforts which he had put forth in his own match against Rock Howard had come up short, and was struggling with his own inability to secure a victory and bring something worth to the table. Raphael and Michelangelo surely must’ve felt the opposite, given that they had performed admirably in their battles. Leonardo couldn’t help but feel a little envious that they had seemingly developed in terms of skill and experience, with Raphael now earning the most wins for having carried the team, and Michelangelo overcoming a surprisingly powerful opponent.

And now it happened to be Donatello’s turn.

The red masked brainy Turtle quickly then planted his staff onto the ground, and he vaulted himself forward only to then snap his left leg forward and out as he intended to slam his foot firmly into his opponent’s mid-section. Jenet immediately turned to her left in a dance like spin, and allowed Donatello to pass right by her. The Turtle landed feet first onto the ground, and now turned to once more face his opponent. Quickly he turned with his hips and then moved his arms, bringing the ends of the staff horizontally for Jenet’s head—but Jenet hunched and weaved out of the way of the weapon, barely evading the strikes.

The blonde beauty then focused on the energy which was within herself, and she directed it to flow through her arms and hands as she hoped back to get some distance between herself and Donatello. When she landed, she swing her left arm back across and directed that energy to move through the air as she deployed the Buffrass technique.

“HIYAAAAH!”

A strong gust of wind swirled out and moved right in towards Donatello—and managed to breeze against the red masked Turtle, and push him back into an arcade machine. This was something completely unexpected. He had been expecting his opponent to release some kind of projectile, but the ability to manipulate the wind? Donatello realized that this woman possessed some form of aerokinesis. He looked over to his brothers, completely at a loss how he could cope against something intangible as manipulated wind.  Donatello shook his head from side to side in disbelief but then watched as Bonne Jenet came rushing at him, and already took to the air as she leapt. Jenet came down, moving her right leg out as she bent her knee for Donatello’s face. Raising his bo-staff, Donatello managed to block the strike for his face. Jenet then landed feet first onto the ground and she pumped her left arm out with the intent to land a punch onto the Turtle’s face.

Donatello again raised his staff and managed to divert the incoming blow away from him, but Jenet again focused her energy. She turned with her weight and swung her right arm across to the left as she again aimed to strike at the Turtle’s head with a smack. The motion of the wind she manipulated was enough to cause her skirt to move in an exaggerated manner, moving onto Donatello and the gust itself was enough to push the Turtle back, despite the fact that he had managed to keep his guard up by keeping his staff raised as he worked to endure the Crazy Ivan maneuver.

“C’mon, Don! What are you waiting for?!”

Donatello then quickly moved over towards a nearby pool table, and he quickly then had noted the many balls which were gathered in the center of the table, and he immediately then would swing his staff across—now hitting and sending several of the hard balls right in towards the buxom blonde. Jenet couldn’t help but widen her eyes as she then had been hit directly in the forehead, and she quickly moved her hands to herself— now rubbing away at the upper left side of her head.

“BOLLOCKS!” She shouted.

She didn’t even so much as see the other four coming right in towards her, and Jenet suddenly felt something striking her firmly in her mid-section, then again on the right side of her forehead, then again in her chest—causing her to wheeze out, and then one hitting her firmly on the left side of her hip. Jenet looked up to see Donatello now juggling four cue balls with his staff, before batting them in towards her. She widened her eyes and quickly covered herself with her arms, now running off to her left as she moved to evade the flying cue balls. Donatello then had hopped onto the billiards table, and already took off running after Jenet, hopping onto the next table to continue his pursuit. Quickly, Donatello then had planted his staff onto the ground and vaulted himself forward and around, only to kick both his feet out as Jenet came running in towards his direction. And he made a firm impact as he managed to strike his feet directly into her mid-section, causing the leader of the Lillien Pirates to fly across and slam directly into an arcade cabinet, rebounding off from it only to drop onto the floor.

“BLOODY HELL THAT HURT!” Jenet yelled.

“Oh did it? Good to know!” Donatello responded.

With fury, Jenet immediately rushed in towards the Turtle. As she neared her opponent, the leader of the Lillien Pirates snapped her right leg up and out for the Turtle’s mid-section, but Donatello was able to read her movements and able to predict where she intended to strike. So, he moved his hands and positioned his electro-staff out and managed to parry the kick. However, Jenet didn’t stop there as she then lowered her right leg, and then kicked out with it at Donatello’s left shin. She managed to land a strike, and Donatello just shook his leg in momentary discomfort. Jenet immediately then pushed herself, becoming airborne once more as she then turned her weight to the right, and raised her right leg up and brought it down, intending to strike the Turtle onto his head as she aimed to land in the Gulf Tomahawk overhead kick onto him. Donatello widened his eyes as he raised his staff, now blocking the kick with his weapon and retaliated by pushing up against his opponent, causing her to flip back and land onto her feet. The red masked ninja then shifted forward, and he spun his staff in a figure eight motion and then aimed to bat down his weapon onto Jenet, impacting her arms, shoulders, mid-section and then her chin.

Jenet was sent flying back, now hitting and knocking over a Whack-A-Mole game which a small child was playing on. Pain moved across her form, and the blonde just moved her eyes up—shooting a glare at Donatello as the red masked ninja was zeroing in on her. Again, Jenet focused on the energy within herself and swung her right arm bck across, releasing another Buffrass gust. The wind was enough to slow Donatello down, and the red masked ninja skid back from the strong wind. The leader of the Lillien Pirates rushed towards the Turtle, and again took to the air as she then turned with her weight, only to bring her right leg back across to the right, then swung her left leg to follow after, then brought her right leg back across once more before swinging her left leg upward as she performed the Harrier Bee kicking techniques.

“WHOO-HOO!”

Donatello widened his eyes as his head had been impacted multiple times, and the red masked ninja felt his head jerking back from the kick to his chin and he felt a momentary stun overwhelming his senses.

“Why the hell is Don having trouble with her? He should have this in the bag!” Raphael grunted.

The genius Turtle just blinked as he realized that this woman definitely had more spirit than what she let on. It wasn’t that he hadn’t underestimated her, not by a long shot since he knew that there were many powerful fighters in this tournament— it was that he seriously didn’t want to hurt anyone here. Out of all the Turtles, Donatello was the one who had the least killer instinct of the bunch, choosing to not to seriously injure or kill if he didn’t have to. But this woman was persistent… That’s what it was; she was more persistent than what he could’ve expected.

And now he was seeing how persistent she truly is, as Donatello watched as Jenet took hold of the cushioned hammer of the downed Whack-A-Mole game and pulled it from it’s cord, tearing it off. Quickly Jenet came rushing right in towards the reptile, and she immediately would take multiple swings at him, diagonally, vertically and horizontally. This was something which caught Donatello off guard as the cushioned mallet struck him across the face, and in response, Donatello had positioned his staff to block the strikes aimed at him. Immediately, Donatello moved his arms forward, pushing his staff to drive Jenet back away from him to get some distance. The blonde woman grunted out as she felt a strong pressure moving into her mid-section and buckled away from the intellectual reptile. The red masked ninja then quickly moved his left hand down to his utility belt, drawing a set of electrified shurikens and he flung them towards Jenet. Jenet gasped as she then summoned more energy, motioned her left hand across and infused that energy into the air to release another gust of wind with the Buffrass technique.

Donatello watched as the electrified shurikens were sent flying back at him, and he quickly went onto the defensive as he quickly spun his staff within his grasp, effectively deflecting the shurikens away from himself.

“Ma’am, I gotta hand it to you… You’re REALLY stubborn!”

“I’ll take that as a compliment! That’s one of my most endearing qualities!” Jenet retorted.

Donatello and Jenet rushed in to another and immediately collided. The red masked Turtle had twirled his staff within his hands, shifting from right to left in a figure eight motion and he would bring the back end of the staff down for the top of his opponent’s head. Jenet immediately leaned to her left, evading the strike as he still gripped the Whack-A-Mole hammer within her grasp and swung it across as she aimed it for Donatello’s head but the Turtle immediately parried the strike as he positioned his staff diagonally and retaliated by swinging his left leg across to the right, performing a roundhouse kick for Jenet’s mid-section. The blonde pirate woman buckled over as she felt a strong pressure slamming into her and gasped out for air. Donatello immediately then swung his staff, bringing the ends across horizontally from right to left, and then swung the back end of the staff upward only to bring the other end vertically down. Jenet grunted as she felt her arms being batted away at, and released the mallet from her grasp as then she felt her chin being struck and then the back of her head felt a rush of pain moving through her senses.

Donatello needed to keep the pressure going, and so the red masked brainy Turtle pressed the button on the center grip of his newly constructed staff—and from the weapon, an electrical current moved through the weapon and small surges of lightning even emanated from the ends of the staff. Quickly, he then would thrust his staff out multiple times as he took aim for Jenet’s mid-section again and successfully— he managed to land several blows.

Jenet grunted and yelped as each strike managed to slam into her and deliver multiple shocks into her body. And yet as painful as the blows and the electricity surging through her body happened to be, this only served to fuel her stubbornness even further as now Jenet started to get angry. Donatello then spun his electrified staff onto the carpeted floor, then threw his weight upward and flipped back, kicking his feet up and firmly impact Jenet onto her chin, causing her to flip back into the air. Seizing this moment, the mutant Red Ear Slider then tensed up his leg muscles and then pushed himself up, only to throw his weight to the left and he snapped his right leg out—firmly kicking his foot against Jenet’s back as he performed a jumping spinning back thrust kick. Jenet was launched forward, now colliding into another game cabinet.

“YOU FILTHY BASEMENT DWELLING SOD!”

Jenet immediately rushed in towards Donatello as she attuned herself to the burst of energy which she was feeling and channeled it directly through out her entire body and into her legs—and as she and the Turtle neared one another, Jenet leapt to the air once more as she immediately moved the energy to her legs, and unleashed a barrage of multiple kicks as she pushed her feet out, intending on hitting Donatello with her pointed heels as she unleashed one of her most devastating attacks— The Many Many Missiles attack. The red masked Turtle gripped his staff and positioned it in a defensive posture and worked to block the incoming strikes—but he was overwhelmed as several kicks breached his defenses— striking him in the face and plastron. And when Jenet delivered the final kick, Donatello was sent flying across—but the Turtle widened his eyes, glaring to the woman as he took aim for her mid-section. He gripped his staff and pressed the button on the handle with the thumb on his right hand, setting it to it’s highest charge—and threw it at the leader of the Lillien Pirates.

“GUH!”

Jenet had been struck by the electrified metal bo-staff, and lightning surged through her entire form as she spasm. Donatello then had collided into a Shoot’Em Up cabinet—smashing and shattering the cabinet and it’s glass screen as he now laid flat onto his carapace. Jenet continued to spasm until the charge released her and she couldn’t stand any longer as she hit the ground onto her knees… and dropped face first onto the carpeted ground. Raphael glared at the outcome, and Michelangelo simply dropped his jaw as he rushed over to Donatello, moving to assist him… Leonardo, shook his head and sighed… The result was another draw. But Michelangelo realized something. Something he’d raise to attention.

“So, uh… Me and Raphael won our matches… Did we just win by technicality?”

Several hours since passed since the Turtles won their team battle against Team Garou, and while they haven’t necessarily suffered any losses in their decisive rounds, draw matches didn’t exactly leave two of the brothers feeling good about themselves as ninja. Leonardo had spent the last few hours in meditation, contemplating over his draw match against Rock Howard and how he might have been able to win that battle. While neither he nor his opponent were able to get an advantage over the other, it did make Leonardo realize that matches were only going to get harder. Possibly much harder all things considered. If he was going to be bringing anything worth to the table, he was going to have to recall every lesson, every technique and experience that he had acquired as a ninja. From Master Splinter’s lessons to his own hard earned life and death battles in the field.

Donatello had his own way of coping. Taking in two draw matches, one against Andy Bogard and the other against Bonne Jenet didn’t exactly do much for his confidence. If anything, it made him consider that he might have to develop new gadgets against future opponents. Rather than meditating over his shortcomings, Donatello took to utilizing whatever tools and equipment which he could find, and worked to develop a wider arsenal of weapons for his brothers. Weapons based in ninjutsu while also having an inventive touch to them.

Raphael and Michelangelo were proud of their own victories though, having fought two hard earned battles against two members of Team Garou, but they knew that if they were going to progress through this tournament then they were going to have to keep their game faces on and bring out their very best.

The Turtles had been informed that they were going to be participating in their next battle and that the designated area had been chosen. The location was at a parking lot garage in Manhattan. The brothers knew the area well enough and they were able to get there on time, even on foot.

As they had arrived, the Turtles had taken notice of their surroundings. So far, it seemed to be nothing out of the ordinary for a parking lot garage. There were plenty of cars parked around, many support beams with fire extinguishers and lug wrenches. Leonardo took note of this, and realized that there were plenty of things to use as cover, many stealth opportunities to use and get around with.

As soon as the brothers had arrived, they were met by a group of four individuals— all of them dressed in what could only be described as military apparel of sorts. The Turtles had blinked at this and stared to one another. This was… perhaps unexpected though they had their share of rodeos in dealing with mercenaries and soldiers in the past.

“So, we gotta deal with these Karate Frogs? Oh, man… This is gonna be lame.” The large man in the red bandana spoke out, cracking his knuckles as he formed a smug grin.

“Turtles. Not frogs. They’ve got shells.” The young woman with the blue hair spoke out.

“I heard these guys are good, Ralf. Real good. Took out several teams.” The man in the hat and sunglasses spoke.

“Introductions in order?” The smaller woman with the whip inquired.

The Turtles looked to the militant group for a moment, and were surprised at how almost casual these people seemed to be.

“Still, Clark.”

“Jones, Ralf.”

“Heidern, Leona.”

“Whip.”

Leonardo blinked as he now sized up the opposition and also kept observations of his surroundings, already working to formulate a way to use the environment to his advantage. He could only hope that his brothers were doing the same. The red masked field leader of the Turtles looked over to his siblings and pondered if they were ready for this. Michelangelo just grinned to his older brother, raising his left hand and giving thumbs up. Donatello was currently evaluating whatever weaponry which he had on him for the time being, doing a quick inventory check. Raphael rolled his shoulders, and then turned his head from side to side, cracking his neck as he did so.

They were ready.

“So, how are we doing this detail anyway?” Ralf asked.

“You know the drill, Jones. Just like any other KOF.” Clark replied.

“Eh, they kept us waiting enough… I say we get started!” Ralf spoke, bouncing on his feet.

The Turtles had looked to one another once more, only to turn and huddle in with one another. As they did so, they placed their arms over each other’s shoulders and stared to one another intently.

“Alright, it’s clear that this isn’t their first time in this tournament. So we need to play it smart. Make them fight our fight. We can use the area to our advantage. There’s lots of concrete beams and cars. Use those to your advantage guys.” Leonardo spoke with a stern and commanding whisper.

“Oh, that reminds me… I took the liberty in making more stuff. Here.” Donatello whispered as he moved his hands down to his utility belt, drawing upon a set of shurikens and handed a set of ten to each of his brothers.

“Comes packed with a bang. Remember when our interdimensional counterparts with the lettered belt buckles used these against that Utrom Shredder?” Donatello grinned.

“Shit, yeah! I remember these!” Raphael chuckled.

“Nice thinking, Donnie.. Love that big brain!” Michelangelo nodded.

“C’MON, KARATE FROGS! WE DOIN’ THIS OR NOT?!” Ralf hollered.

“Alright, so which one of us is going first?” Leo asked.

“AIN’T GETTING ANY YOUNGER HERE!” The loud man hollered.

Raphael would be the first to break from the group as he now looked over to the loud man who called himself Ralf. The red masked hot-head also licked away at his own teeth for a moment as he then rolled his shoulders to undo whatever stiffness might’ve been there. He stepped forward, making his way to the loud green clad man with the red bandana. He watched as Ralf then clenched his hands into fists, and already took his battle posture.

“Guess you’re the first one, huh? Gonna have me some frog legs for dinner!” Ralf smirked.

Raphael rolled his tongue inside of his mouth and then turned to meet his brother Leonardo, staring him in the eyes as he pondered if it was a good idea to let loose. Leonardo just gave off a stern stare to his rather spirited brother, and nodded to confirm that whatever Raphael’s intentions were… are perfectly acceptable. The red masked ninja then had moved his hands down and then firmly gripped the handle of his twin sai, now spinning the pronged weapons skillfully within his grasp and then shot a glare to the loud man.

Ralf immediately stepped forward, moving in towards Raphael as he took the initial run. The red masked hot-head immediately entered into his own fighting stance, raising his hands as he positioned his sai and then took off running at his opponent.

The first decisive battle between the Turtles and Team Ikari now officially kicked off.

So the next match in my Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles storyline has now officially been posted up. Writing up the recap for Donatello vs Bonne Jenet was difficuly after a rather surprising and disappointing outcome which resulted in another draw. For me, this was rather difficult because I honestly do not know how to present such a scenario as being feasible in terms of writing it out and I spent almost two nights in trying to figure out how to put that down. So really... draw matches are rather discouraging to me as a writer and I hope to not really write more of those.

Also, I suppose there was no getting around as far as opponents go, Team Ikari definitely is a staple in the KOF series and to not include them would perhaps be a crime. So naturally, this was something of a chosen path to go although an alternative would've been writing out something involving a few Samurai Shodown characters, but then I'd have to explain how they are in modern times. None the less, a match between two characters with similar sounding names and hot tempers was in order. So, I hope that this match will be an interesting one!

For new readers who are just hopping onto this storyline here, I suggest you look at the Mirage TMNT Respect Thread to see what the Mirage Turtles are more than capable of.

It's after 2:00 where I am right now, so I hope I'm sharp enough to get all my points across here.

Another great set-up, Rakai. Very interesting recap with Donnie and B. Jenet. One thing about these ties is that it can certainly bring out extra creatively in those writing arcs. For example, it seems to be giving you a good opportunity to make some potentially interesting character arcs. Leo seems to be struggling a bit with confidence in his fighting ability, and now Donnie's more pacifistic and scientific sides might be interfering with his fighting instinct.

And now I'm almost sounding like one of the FPL vets. :P

As for this battle of the hot-tempered "R's", it seems Raphael might be running into someone that's even more hot-headed than he is in Ralf Jones. Raph already has experience dealing with a hotter head in Casey Jones, so he may be able to use that to his advantage here. It probably won't be that easy against Ralf, though, since he seems pretty powerful and skilled.

Thanks for the analysis here, DSkillz!

Yeah, I figured that someone would be bringing up Raphael's experiences with dealing with other hot-heads, namely Casey Jones. I think that's something that Raphael would be able to use against Ralf Jones (whoah, coincidence that he's going up against ANOTHER character named Jones) effectively here.

And seeing as Mirage Raphael learned to focus his anger, that might be also useful here for him to come out on top.

A bit unexpected in the results of the last one, but as always, you've do manage to find ways to rebound from any of the Turtles' losses or draws in a pretty constructive way, and that really shows your skills as a writer Rakai, you're definitely growing with each one of these that you do. The match worked out pretty well too, as the intensity was pretty explosive, a bit comical, and worked out real well in portraying both Donatello and Bonne Jenet's polar opposite personalities, so yeah in that too, I found it to be quite entertaining. An interesting note too, if the protective garb around the Wack a Mole hammer came off, I think that Bonne would have found it even more embarrassing to her, heh, but as it is I like that segment of the match, because you manage to utilize a benign object in a way that is comical based on what it is, but could also be more significant based on the person utilizing it, so good stuff from me.

Raph is really going to have to work through this one too, as Ralph Jones seems to be the type of opponent who can do a lot of damage, especially rapid fire and explosive damage if he gets in to close to the Ninja Turtle, so Raph we'll probably need to outlast his attacks in endurance and defense, in order to close in. Stealth is a good tactic for him here too, as Ralph is definitely trained in militant tactics as a mercenary, but he is also the type who appears to be flashy, so by countering that aspect of his personality with a stealthy and strategic approach might given Raphael even more of an opening than he might otherwise have. Finally, Ralph specializes mostly in punches and upper body ki based attacks, if Raphael utilizes attacks at his lower body, he might gain a few decent attacks on his own as he needs them, as it is hard to say how prepared Ralph would be for a barrage at his lower body.

A very solid assessment you made here, Z451! The Turtles are probably going to have a challenge here with Team Ikari but this isn't their first rodeo when it comes to dealing with soldiers, especially mercenaries-- human or otherwise. So I would probably count that in favor for Raphael.

And yes, the environment definitely comes to play. So there's plenty of opportunities for Raphael to utilize his stealth here if he needs to get the drop in Ralf here. And he might be able to take out some lights as well to enhance his stealth capabilities more so.

Thanks for commenting, Z451!

Totally agree with your frustration about ties. When I referred to Bonne Jenet's entertaining moveset in the previous fight I was specifically referring to her tried and true technique of taking off her heel and bashing her opponent with it. Granted, it doesn't make her appear to be the most serious fighter around, but it is hilarious. A little sad not to see it here, but you paid it good homage when she takes the Whack-A-Mole hammer as a weapon.

As for the turtles' new opponents, I wasn't initally thrilled with the Ikari Warriors selection despite them being past KOF winners, mainly because I find Clark Still and Ralf Jones to be boring characters.  But upon further thought I think the two teams actually match up pretty well against one another and I am curious to see how you do the pairings. My indifference to their characters aside, Ralf and Clark are really strong guys with some punishing moves.

I don't think Ralf has enough to put down Raphael but he will definitely leave a mark. Good work.
