Raphael and Khushnood rushed in and immediately went on an exchange of fists and feet. The Afro-Brazilian Kyokugen fighter turned with his weight as he thrust his hands forward and out in a series of three quick jabs, but Raphael swiftly would cross his arms out in front of himself and took the punches quickly with his forearms. Khushnood then leaned forward and he snapped his left leg forward and out in a front kick as he took aim for the Turtle’s mid-section, but Raphael side-stepped to the right, swiftly evading the attack. Seeing his opponent move, Khushnood turned in a spin to the left and he raised his right leg up, arcing it across as he performed a spinning wheel kick that he aimed for the reptile’s head. Raphael quickly hunched down and avoided the kick, and he spun his sai within his grasp, and gripped the weapons in reverse. Upon rising, Raphael then turned with his hips as he rolled his arms forward and out, using the blunt ends of the sai handles to deliver the power needed. Khushnood felt several impacts striking him, and he also felt the air being pushed from his lungs.

And seizing this opportunity, Raphael then swung his right arm upward in an uppercut—slamming the end of the sai handle firmly into the Afro-Brazilian man’s chin, causing his head to snap back and in turn the blow was enough to make Khushnood stumble back and lose his footing, before dropping onto his back side.

“He’s off to a good start!” Donatello chimed in.

Khushnood Butt placed his hands onto the ground, pushing himself to his feet. With a mighty yell, he rushed in and already went onto the assault by starting off with a series of three quick punches which were aimed out for the Turtle’s mid-section and head. Raphael responded by turning with his weight and he swung his arms horizontally inward with his forearms positioned vertically, using them to divert the first two punches out of the way. When the third came for his face, Raphael immediately then leaned to his right and he hooked his right arm across, not intercepting his opponent’s, and pulled him inward while he would turn and move behind Khushnood as he held him in place. Without any hesitation, Raphael repeatedly slammed the handle of his sai in his left hand onto the back of the Kyokugen fighter’s head.

“Had this been a life or death situation, Raphael would’ve ended it there.” Leonardo noted.

Khushnood felt a wash of pain entering his senses, and he also felt a pair of hands placing themselves onto his back before he was shoved forward and dropped onto his side. Working to fight off the pain, he immediately attuned himself to his own energy flow and then channeled this power to move through his body and down to his legs. Quickly, he rolled to his feet and pounced forward only to now kick his right leg forward and out.

“HIEN-SHIPPU KYAKU!”

Khushnood soared at his opponent, intending on hitting Raphael but the red masked hot-headed Turtle dropped forward and slid across the carpeted floor of the arcade, moving underneath the flying Karateka. Quickly placing his hands onto the ground, Raphael rose to his feet. He leaned forward and snapped his left leg across to the right, performing a roundhouse kick which was aimed for the Afro-Brazilian’s mid-section. Khushnood crossed his arms out in front of himself, blocking the kick with his forearms and retaliated by turning with his hips and thrust his arms forward and out twice, taking aim for the Turtle’s face. Raphael quickly weaved from side to side, evading the strikes and responded by punching his arms out, intending on striking Khushnood firmly onto his chest with his sai handles tucked between his fingers, the blunt ends protruding out. Butt quickly turned with his weight, positioning his forearms vertically as he motioned them outward, diverting the strikes away.

The Kyokugen fighter immediately snapped his right leg forward and out in a front kick, but the Turtle immediately responded by snapping his right in a similar fashion. Both feet collided with one another, and the two fought to maintain their footing, refusing to give an inch.

The Afro-Brazilian fighter moved his arms out to grab a hold of the Turtle by his shoulders, pulling Raphael but the red masked ninja arched his back and he raised his right leg up, pressing his knee up against Khushnood’s chest. This prevented the Karateka from delivering a knee strike. But Khushnood instead improvised by swinging his right arm’s elbow out and firmly impacted it against the reptile’s head. That was something which Raphael didn’t see coming, and a wave of discomfort now washed over his senses as he then suddenly felt his weight being moved, and he dropped onto his shell— only to realize that the Afro-Brazilian fighter just threw him down in a Seoi Nage hip toss.

Raphael just shot a glare up at the Afro-Brazilian fighter, and then placed his hands to the ground to rise up. In a moment of denile, the red masked ninja shook his head from side to side. He wasn’t going to let something like that happen again. Raphael would make damn well sure of that if he could help it.

Khushnood attuned to his own energy flow and directed it to channel through his body and into his right arm and hand. Without any hesitation, he pushed his right arm and hand forward and projected the energy out at the red masked Turtle, unleashing a burst of energy which moved at quick speeds at the reptile.

“KO-OU KEN!”

Raphael had seen these types of attacks many times, and he was getting used to them. Impressive as they were to see, well he knew what to do by now when it came to dealing with them. The red masked ninja then had stepped in towards the energy projectile and ran as fast as he could only to now then push himself forward and up, leaping to the air. He threw his weight forward and down, somersaulting towards his opponent and brought both his legs down in a front somersault kick, intending on smacking Kushnood firmly onto either the top or back of his head. The Afro-Brazilian man had raised his arms and raised both arms, taking the strikes firmly in his forearms, buckling from the impact and weight of his opponent. Raphael landed feet first onto the ground, and he turned with his hips and swung his arms across, firmly striking the Kyokugen practitioner in the ribs with the blunt ends of his sai handles, and this caused Khushnood to lurch forward and gasp in discomfort.

Raphael then thrust his left arm forward and out, slamming the end of the sai handle into Khushnood Butt’s forehead. A wash of pain overwhelmed his senses, leaving the Kyokugen fighter open. The mutant Turtle decided to capitalize on that as he immediately then side-stepped to his opponent’s left. Raphael released his weapons, dropping them onto the ground only to move his arms and firmly wrap them around Khushnood’s mid-section. He summoned up all of the strength within his muscles as he lifted his opponent’s weight with his upper body and legs, only to then lean back and dropped Khushnood onto the floor, shoulders and back first as he landed the suplex.

“OH! NASTY!!” Michelangelo shouted.

Jenet and Hotaru gasped, the latter covering her mouth from the sheer shock of witnessing the red masked Turtle’s strength. Raphael immediately released Khushnood from his grasp and rolled to his chest only to push himself up onto his feet, rising to meet the challenge.

The Afro-Brazilian Kyokugen fighter worked to push through the pain, and he planted his hands and feet onto the carpeted floor and staggered to his feet. Pain moved across his upper back and down, and he arched himself as he placed his left hand behind himself and groaned. Raphael rushed in for his opponent, not wanting to give him the opportunity to recover. As he drew closer, Raphael twirled his sai and gripped them, with the pointed ends now facing forward. He thrust his left arm forward and out, intending on using it to thrust the weapon into Khushnood, but the Karateka immediately side-stepped to his opponent’s  left. Raphael turned and once more thrust with his weapons, rolling his arms forward and out four times as he took aim for Khushnood’s mid-section. Khushnood Butt quickly balled his hands into fists, and he positioned his forearms vertically, swinging them horizontally inward and pushed against the mutant Red Ear Slider’s wrists, diverting the pronged weapons away. Raphael spun his sai firmly within his grasp, holding them in reverse again and then brought his arms down in a vertical thrust and stabbing motion as he aimed for Khushnood’s shoulders, but Khushnood wisely and quickly shifted forward with a step and positioned his right forearm horizontally and raised it vertically, parrying the strike by stopping it at Raphael’s wrists, allowing himself to block the attack without suffering injury.

Khushnood took aim for Raphael’s head, and so he responded to the attacks by turning with his hips and thrusting his left and right arm forward in two straight punches. Raphael crossed his arms out in front of himself, blocking the solid strikes with his forearms. Adding to this, Khushnood turned with his weight and he swung his right leg across to perform a roundhouse kick, his foot impact against Raphael’s forearms which were still holding that guard.  Raphael watched as Khushnood then leaned forward and snapped his left leg out in a front kick, but in response to this— the red masked hot-head then turned to a spin to his right, hunched down and swung his right leg across, sweeping it across his opponent’s standing foot.

Khushnood fell back, but quickly regained himself as he curled himself back and rolled onto his feet. He rushed in towards his opponent, and as he did so— he again focused on his energy and now directed it to flow through his arms and into his hands. He then would turn with his hips and released a barrage of fast punches from his right, intending on blasting Raphael with multiple hits.

“ZANRETSU-KEN!”

Raphael widened his eyes as he now worked to evade the incoming strikes, weaving over from right to left and hunching to evade the incoming strikes. When his opponent was done, Khushnood followed up by turning in a spin and he would swing his left leg across in a spinning wheel kick. Raphael raised his arms, blocking the kick with his forearms once more but then he would push and part them, aiming to shove his opponent back. But to ensure that he didn’t get the chance to strike, the red masked Turtle snapped his right leg forward and kicked at Khushnood’s standing leg, causing the Kyokugen fighter to drop onto the floor once more. Seizing this moment, Raphael then raised his legs and aimed to stomp down onto the Afro-Brazilian fighter. Khushnood did his best to roll away from Raphael, but then felt something slamming down onto his solar plexus and forced him to wheeze out in discomfort and mild agony as he clutched his arms around himself.

Khushnood had to keep on fighting. His pride in Kyokugen would not allow himself to falter so easily. Gathering his strength, he pushed himself to his feet and clenched his fists together. He unleashed a powerful kiai yell from within and charged at the Turtle. Quickly, he turned with his hips and swung his right elbow for the mutant Turtle’s head, but Raphael leaned back away from the incoming blow. Khushnood followed up by moving his left across and moved in with his weight, but Raphael side-stepped to his opponent’s left, reading his body movements carefully and then retaliated by swinging his left hand across in a back fist, firmly impacting the opponent across the face. Following this, Raphael then twirled his sai within his right hand, having the blunt end facing forward and he thrust his right arm out and impacted the end of the handle into Khushnood’s nose.

But Raphael didn’t stop there.

Quickly, he then turned with his hips and proceeded to pummel in the Afro-Brazilian fighter’s chest and mid-section with his sai handles, using the blunt ends to maximize the force of his strikes. Khushnood grunted out in pain as he could also feel his lungs and his stomach being compressed of the air within, and now was having difficulty in trying to regain his breath. He couldn’t help but lurch forward and shut his eyes firmly.

Raphael then threw his weight and leaned forward, planting his hands down onto the ground and he kicked his feet forward only to firmly impact Khushnood in the chest—again causing him to wheeze out and again lose his breath while also causing Khushnood to then fly back and hit a nearby arcade cabinet, causing it to topple over as a young teenager was still playing the game. The kid stepped back, turning and running as he screamed.

“M-MOMMY! MOMMY!”

In frustration, Khushnood Butt balled his hands firmly into fists and he slammed them onto the floor. Quickly, he bolted up onto his feet and now cleared his mind of all thoughts but focused on nothing but his energy. As he attuned himself, the Kyokugen practitioner then directed his energy to flow through his body and fed it directly into his muscles. This caused his body to react, his muscle mass increasing as he tensed himself up. Suddenly, the top of his Karate gi burst, exposing his bare chest and back, his muscles bulging and becoming more defined. Cupping his hands together, he now willed the energy to flow into his palms. The energy swirled and burst within his hands, taking on a spherical shape.

“NOW I SHALL SHOW YOU THE TRUE POWER OF KYOKUGEN! HAOH SHOKO-KEN!!”

Khushnood shifted a step forward and threw his arms— releasing the energy from the palms of his hands. The large sphere of energy now rushed in towards Raphael, intending on hitting him with a powerful impact and an explosive burst.

But Raphael had seen an attack like this when he had fought Robert Garcia. Knowing what to do, Raphael rushed in towards an arcade cabinet, pounced forward and then firmly planted his feet onto the side of the machine and rebounded from it, now soaring over the incoming projectile. When he neared his opponent, Raphael kicked both his legs out, his feet aiming for Khushnood’s face. Impact was made and the Afro-Brazilian fighter felt his world spinning and going upside down, and then his vision flashed before he dropped and darkness claimed him.

Raphael dropped onto his carapace only to firmly plant his hands onto the ground and push himself up once more. He stared over to his opponent and waited for him to rise. He began the ten second countdown, and when he had mentally called the final number—his opponent hadn’t moved.

The match was over. Raphael had earned a solid win for his team.

“YEEEAAAAAH!” Michelangelo shouted.

Raphael turned, only to begin making his way over to the rest of his teammates. As he drew closer, he moved his hands down and slipped his twin sai down to his utility belt, holstering them and moved his hands up. Donatello and Michelangelo raised their hands, slapping Raphael’s palms in a celebratory manner.

“Awww bollocks! Well I guess it’s just down to the two of us, Hotaru.” Jenet spoke, turning her attention to the younger girl.

Raphael looked over to Donatello, Michelangelo and Leonardo— who was now recovering from his battle with Rock. All four brothers moved their arms, huddling with each other as they would discuss on who would be going next to participate in the next battle. All four looked to one another with confidence.

“Alright, we took out two of them and they took out Leo… So we’re still at a good number. We need to figure out who’s gonna be next.” Raphael spoke out.

“It’s just left up to Donatello and Michelangelo.” Leonardo spoke out.

There was an immediate silence coming from the Turtles. It was at this very moment in which Michelangelo nodded to his brothers and formed a smile on his face. He could feel himself getting excited, pumped for his upcoming battle. He started getting jittery, rolling his shoulders back and chuckled.

“I’m game!”

“Alright… Go get’em Mikey!” Raphael grinned, slapping his left hand onto his younger brother’s shell.

Michelangelo stepped forward and he looked over to the two remaining members of Team Garou and nudged his head up in a greeting manner.

Bonne Jenet and Hotaru Futaba looked to one another and exchanged something of an unspoken dialogue. Hotaru would be the one to step forth now, and she looked over to the wily red masked ninja and then paused as she now stood about six feet from him.

“S’up little lady? You doin’ alright?” Mikey asked.

“Oh, well.. I am quite fine thank you for asking… Ummm… Good luck on the match!” Hotaru smiled.

Jenet couldn’t help but roll her eyes at this, as she shook her head from side to side as she also crossed her arms underneath her bosom. Hotaru could be such a goody two-shoes a times in her opinion, much to her annoyance.

Michelangelo chuckled as he shrugged his shoulders.

“Hey, don’t sweat it… We’re gonna have fun!” He grinned wider as he reached for his nunchaku, and when he took hold of them, Michelangelo twirled his tethered weapons skillfully before swinging them down and catching them underneath his arm pits.

With a light breath of air, Hotaru opened her palms and entered into her own fighting stance.

The third match between the Turtles and Team Garou now would begin.

The next part in my Mirage TMNT Storyline has finally been posted after a week long's delay. I have been relatively busy with my life in trying to keep up with my job and also trying to find a house for myself and my family to live in, so that's why I haven't been posting as often when it comes to this storyline. Writing out the recap between Raphael and Khushnood Butt was something of a bit of difficulty in writing as I had been busy with real life stuff which needed my attention and also trying to find the right balance of how to present the battle between the two out. Based on the votes, I was surprised to see Raphael win by a landslide, though I also tried to write it out to where Raphael wound up dominating the fight mid-way during the recap.

Also, I had to figure out who the next opponents were goign to be since Rock Howard and Khushnood were eliminted-- with Rock having a draw in his battle with Leonardo, and Khushnood having been taken out by Raphael. To me, this felt like as if this was the next logical step to go in this direction between Michelangelo and Hotaru Futaba.

For new readers who are just hopping onto this storyline here, I suggest you look at the Mirage TMNT Respect Thread to see what the Mirage Turtles are more than capable of.

Michelangelo is Low Tier Superhuman in terms of physicals. Think Above Peak Human due to his mutation and training.

Michelangelo possesses his Twin Nunchaku, Shurikens, Smoke Bombs, and Kunai.

Hotaru Futaba is in Peak Conditioning due to her training.

Hotaru Futaba has her moveset from the Garou game.

Don’t remember much about Hotaru, she probably wasn’t that great of a fighter probably. Anyways at this point it’ll be pretty hard to vote against the Turtles now considering what challenges they’ve overcome from this arc. The next challengers are gonna need to be pretty tough to be able to take them on.

I have to figure out who they could go up against. I was considering maybe Team Ikari, Team Mexico, or possibly an Orochi Team. Maybe Team Japan or the Sacred Treasures as well... Hard to say.

As for Hotaru, well... I know she is in the Garou game, and in one of the KOF games. And looking at her biography on the SNK Wiki, it says that she hails from a family of martial artist but she doesn't really like violence, so her father taught her the lighter aspect of Chinese Kempo, the Juu-Kei aspect. So it's not like she's a complete push over.

Another great set-up, Rakai! I like that you didn't have Raph completely dominate Kushnood in the recap, unlike what the final vote indicated.

I looked up some combo vids of Hotaru, and it looks like she might put up a decent fight against Mikey. But as mentioned, she doesn't really show much that Michelangelo hasn't seen before, so he should take this in the end.

Before it's over, though, I think there's one move of Hotaru's that Mikey may not mind getting caught in, if it weren't so potentially devastating, that is. 😛

Thanks for commenting DSkillz!

I was looking up some videos on Hotaru as well, and she has some decent techniques and a fairly good projectile attack but you're probably right in your breakdown.

And I know which technique you're referring to! I just laughed when I saw it and couldn't believe how unintentionally "weird" that one was!

But we'll see how the fight goes!

Good stuff Rakai, I'm liking how you use the different environments in your matches, and you certainly work well at complimenting the turtle's personalities with their fighting styles, to bring more characterization through their fights as well. The match between Raphael and Khusnood was an impressive one, and just about what I expected from it, in some ways I wasn't too surprised it didn't end up in a draw, as both fighters have a great deal of power and strength, but it worked well nonetheless, as I was really impressed how you input Raphael's use of his strength in hoisting Khusnood off the ground and slamming him back down among other techniques. The ending too worked well, as it was fast paced, but pretty good finisher for Raphael, as he learned to utilize the opportunity to attack correctly, when his opponents have just fired off their ki, leaving them open, again well done there.

Hotaru, as the others have said, isn't being categorized as the greatest of challenges for Michelangelo, but I don't believe that he'll be able to let his guard down with her either. Hotaru is a fighter who attack mostly with mid strikes, while occasionally going for uppercuts and overhead strikes, and even less so settling for low kicks, but her main focus as I have read is on ki based attacks. The way I think that Mikey will have to go to win here, is by maintaining a decent defense at mid-chest level, dodging her ki based attacks and overhead strikes, and trying to outpace her speed wise, as I think that, he, of the two anyway, might just be a tad faster than her and could parry her attacks from a circular pattern of positions if he applied himself in some ways.

Another great fight recap, RakaiThwei. Despite the turtles fighting a seemingly lesser team, it is as all still just as engaging due to your fight descriptions. I particularly enjoyed the interaction with the environment around them with the arcade cabinet. I don't expect Hotaru to win this fight against Michelangelo, but I am curious how well she will display her techniques in the fight because I too am very unfamiliar with her.

I wouldn't say that Team Garou is a lesser team than any of the others, but that they don't have as much exposure as the other characters. I feel as if they are powerful in their own right, some more than others as far as the Garou cast is concerned, namely in terms of Rock and Khushnood (or Marco Rodriguez if you prefer that name for the character). In the case of Hotaru, it is known that she is not a fan of violence and would prefer not to use it hence why she was taught the lighter aspects of Kenpo. This doesn't necessarily mean she is less skilled, but likely has a softer approach.

I have to figure out who the next team the Turtles will eventually be facing, as I am considering an Orochi Team or maybe Ikari Team. We'll see what happens with that.
