Terry Bogard had been in many fights in his life. He grew up and was forged in the heat of battle on the mean streets of South Town, Florida. He traveled all around the world and fought against opponents whom he never thought that he would make amicable friendships and enmities with. He had competed against many adversaries in the King of Fighters tournaments through the years. But he never thought that he would be fighting underneath New York City and would be fighting underwater against someone… who he was beginning to suspect might be more than what he thought himself to be. And right now, Terry Bogard was having a hard time breathing.

Quite literally and figuratively.

He hadn’t been expecting to be dragged down into the water like his, and it didn’t help that the resistance of the water slowed him down a considerable amount. All he could do was hold his breath, and figure out a way to try and get out from the grasp of his opponent right this very moment. He moved his arms out, placing his hands onto the shoulders of the red masked Turtle and was trying to push away at him but the mutant reptile kept his grasp on his jacket. And Terry felt something firmly striking into the right side of his face, and if he didn’t know any better, he would’ve said that it was a fist. And then another strike came across his head.

Raphael knew how powerful his opponent happened to be from watching Leonardo’s fight with him, and there was a fire which burned inside of him, raging to get retribution for his older sibling’s defeat. Everything rested on him and if he and his brothers were to prove their worth and get the experience needed to cope with other fighting styles—then they would have to win this fight. A fight which now became a war of attrition. Raphael kicked his legs, aiming to go deeper into the water to put more pressure onto Terry, and he would turn with his weight and then thrust his right arm forward and down, impacting his fist firmly into the Lone Wolf’s mid-section. Terry grunted as he worked to hold his breath, refusing to lose it down here in the depths of the sewer. The last thing which he wanted was to ingest any of it. He clenched his fists, now throwing punches at the Turtle’s mid-section, striking at nothing but the ninja’s hardened plastron. Terry felt pressure in his chest and realized the more he moved, the more oxygen he was burning, and in reflex, he kept on punching away at Raphael’s plastron protected chest.

Finally, Terry reared his head back and firmly struck it into the mutant Red Ear Slider’s face, right in the middle, causing Raphael some immediate discomfort as he was forced to loosen his grip from the South Town fighter. Terry kicked his feet out, firmly pushing against Raphael as he kicked his way back up to the surface and broke through. Upon breaching, the Lone Wolf took in a deep breath, finally filling his lungs with the stale, musty air. But it was air none the less, and he quickly swam towards the concrete. As Terry reached the concrete, he coughed and inhaled as best as he could… but turned and scrambled to his feet as soon as he heard a break coming from the water.

Raphael rushed out as he swam to the shallow waters, his movements swift and with purpose. Gripping his sai firmly within his grasp, Raphael turned with his weight as he took aim for Terry’s mid-section only to swing his right and left across with the intent to strike at Terry, aiming to lacerate him on his chest and stomach region. Terry hopped away from the incoming strikes, and Raphael stepped in hot pursuit. Quickly, he turned with his hips as he took aim for Terry’s head and thrust his right arm forward and out, driving his sai outward. Terry retaliated in a defensive manner, flattening his left hand only to motion it back across to the right and caught hold of the Turtle’s wrist, now thrusting his right arm out and impacting his first firmly into the red masked Turtle’s face. Taking advantage of this moment, Terry then turned and took hold of Raphael’s captive arm and leaned forward, utilizing the Turtle’s own weight against him and effectively slammed his opponent onto his back.

Raphael grunted in displeasure of this, and the red masked ninja then twirled the sai within his left hand and took aim for Terry’s right knee. Raphael swung his left arm across, batting the blunt end of the handle of his sai against Terry’s knee as he protruded it from between his fingers and tucked in his palm. Terry buckled to the side as he winced his eyes in discomfort and pain, instinctively reaching down for his leg. The Turtle moved his legs out, catching Terry’s and turned with his weight as he now then forced the South Town fighter to topple to the side. Raphael scrambled to his feet, and didn’t hesitate as he then snapped his right leg across, performing a roundhouse kick. Impact was made as Terry caught the Turtle’s foot directly in his face, and a stinging pain entered his senses as he dropped back and now rubbed away at his face with his hands.

Raphael now twirled his twin sai in hand, holding the pronged weapons in reverse.

Terry hobbled up to his feet, and he widened his eyes as Raphael came rushing right in towards him. Quickly thinking on his toes, Terry immediately focused on the energy which was within himself and directed it to flow through his entire body and directed it to flow through his right arm and hand. Turning with his weight, he threw his fist to the ground and caused the energy to explode outward, releasing a torrent of energy at Raphael.

“POWER WAVE!”

However, the mutant Red Ear Slider tensed up his leg muscles, now pushing himself to the left and upwards only to plant his feet onto the grime covered brick, only to rebound off from it and managed to soar over the rush of destructive energy. He raised his sai firmly and swung them down—Terry raised his eyes and rushed ahead, only to now lean and drop onto his shoulders, rolling along the water layered ground and managed to evade the ninja’s intended strike. As the Turtle landed, Terry went onto the offense as he turned with his hips and released two jabs from his right and left, followed up by an uppercut from his right. Raphael hunched and weaved underneath the incoming jabs, but as the uppercut came, the red masked ninja crossed his arms out in front of himself, blocking the strike directly with his forearms. Terry leaned forward, and he swung his left arm’s elbow across but Raphael blocked again with his forearms as he maintained his guard.

In response, Raphael spun his sai within his grasp and held them in between his fingers and palms as he took aim for Terry’s mid-section, now rolling punches out as he aimed to firmly strike the South Town fighter in the ribs. Terry felt four strikes hitting into him, as he grunted out in discomfort as he lurched from the blows, and then felt a pair of hands grabbing down onto the back of his head. Raphael immediately then would begin to thrust his right leg up, firmly impacting his knee against Terry’s forehead. Fighting against the pain, Terry would then throw his arms upward as he leaned back, forcing the Turtle’s hold to break. The South Town fighter snapped his left leg out in a front kick for the reptile’s right leg, causing him to slip forward. Immediately, he swung his right arm upward in an uppercut, catching Raphael firmly in the chin. Pain washed over Raphael’s head, and he shut his eyes from the pain. Terry turned with his hips, and he pumped his arms forward, striking the Turtle several times across the face and in the head with his fist. Adding to the pile up, Terry then swung his right leg across for Raphael’s head as he performed his own roundhouse kick, striking the Turtle head on.

But Terry winced his eyes in throbbing pain after having done that, now realizing that the Turtle might have left some lasting damage there. So, he would need to work around that. Again, he channeled the energy within himself and allowed it to flow through his body. He dashed forward and now threw his right arm forward and out as he slid across the tunnel, zeroing in on Raphael. Blue energy now enveloped Terry’s first, allowing him to hit harder while providing explosive power.

“BURNING KNUCKLE!”

“Oh shit!” Raphael muttered.

Rather than allowing such a move like that to get the better of him, Raphael then dashed forward only to now push himself forward and up, and he took to the air at a height of six feet and a distance of four feet ahead as Terry came right in towards him, with his sai aimed outward for his opponent’s shoulders. Terry widened his eyes, stopping dead in his tracks as Raphael’s twin sai pierced through his jacket, grazing his shoulders and punching out through the back of the fabric. Terry and Raphael hit the water layered flooring, and Raphael rolled over Terry—momentarily crushing him under his weight, and as he rolled onto his feet, the Turtle turned and pushed himself up, somersaulting forward and slammed his feet firmly onto Terry’s chest.

The South Town fighter wheezed out and he clutched his arms around his mid-section.

Raphael gripped his sai firmly within his grasp, removing them from Terry’s jacket now. Firmly placing his hands down onto the ground, Terry again had focused on his energy and then positioned himself to a brief handstand only to launch himself upwards and spun through the air as he snapped his left leg upwards.

“RISING TACKLE!”

Raphael immediately evaded as he slid back away from the spinning man. The South Town fighter threw his weight forward, now landing feet first onto the ground. Instinctively, he ran forward but felt the throbbing pain moving through his right leg from the blow earlier. None the less, Terry powered through the pain.

The mutant Red Ear Slider clasped his twin sai together and held them in his left hand, allowing his right hand to be free as he then moved it back—and took a moment to observe his surroundings. Terry then had started to run as fast as he could, refusing to allow the pain in his leg to get the better of him. Raphael moved his eyes up, aiming for the dim lights which were above him and his opponent, and he flung his right arm forward and up. From his hand, a set of three shurikens were released and they moved through the air, spinning to the light only to crash right through it as Terry drew closer and closer. As the South Town fighter got close enough, the light went out as the sound of metal crashing through glass echoed through the tunnel.

“WHAT?!”

Terry instinctively swung his right arm across, intending to strike at the Turtle but instead struck at nothing but air. The drone which had been hovering around the tunnels immediately turned on it’s light, allowing some light to illuminate the tunnel, but it could only provide the South Town fighter some visibility. And from what Terry could see, it appeared as if his opponent had vanished. He turned himself around, glaring through out the tunnel as he tried to look for any trace of the mutant reptile. The drone also slowly hovered around—as if it were looking for Raphael as well.

Terry took in several deep breaths, working to calm himself down.

“He’s still gotta be around here somewhere. He couldn’t have just went up and gone that fast.” He whispered.

Terry couldn’t help but trek further down the tunnel, going off in search of the red masked ninja. However, he had failed to notice that there was movement above him and it slowly was trailing after him as Raphael remained clinging onto the overhead pipes which he had managed to use as a means of remaining out of sight from the South Town fighter. Raphael moved quietly, slowly and with stealth as he watched Terry Bogard for the moment. And when he had gotten close enough, that’s when he had to make a decision. Quickly, Raphael then released his legs from the pipe, and then threw his weight forward and down— kicking both his legs outward, firmly impacting Terry with enough strength and force to send him flying towards the brick wall ahead.

The drone hovered and turned, shining it’s light on the two fighters.

Dropping to the water layered ground, Raphael then had rushed right in towards Terry with both sai firmly gripped. As he neared the Lone Wolf, Raphael turned with his right leg and swung it across in a low roundhouse, impacting Terry’s injured leg, further aggravating what likely might have been a bruise. Terry grunted and buckled, and was immediately met with a strong impact as Raphael swung his left fist across, gripping one of his sai firmly to deal further damage than normal. Terry fought off the effects from the blow, only to turn with his weight as he jabbed his right and leg out but Raphael hunched and weaved underneath the incoming punches, only to jump and snap his left leg out, performing a jumping side kick to push Terry away from him. Stumbling from the blow, Terry worked to regain his footing as he concentrated on his own energy, feeling it rise in correlation to the stress which he seemed to be experiencing.

Taking this energy, he directed it to flow through his entire body and channeled it to his right arm and hand. He raised it as he tensed up his muscles. Raphael widened his eyes, getting a rough idea as to what this could entail and he now rushed on ahead as fast as he could. Terry punched away at the ground with his right fist, splashing and striking the ground as three burst of energy erupted from the ground.

“POWER GEYSER!”

Raphael ran up along the wall up to a height of six feet, then pushed himself up and off from it— now somersaulting over the burst of explosive energy. He snapped his right leg out, striking his foot firmly against Terry’s face. As he splashed onto the water layered flooring, Raphael twirled his sai and gripped them only to firmly strike them into Terry’s mid-section, and swung his left outward—batting the blunt end firmly into the middle of Terry’s face, before swinging his right upwards in an uppercut. Lastly, Raphael then turned to a spin, leapt and he swung his right leg horizontally while performing a jumping crescent kick.

Terry dropped to the side, and he hit the water layered floor hard.

Raphael widened his eyes as he now dropped down onto his knees, overwhelmed from the exhaustion of fighting such difficult battles. Now he understood why the rest of his brothers were having such a hard time with Team Fatal Fury. The hot-tempered Red Ear Slider slipped his sai into his utility belt, and looked upon the drone which had been observing the battle, now looking to his fallen opponent…

“Might as well be a good sport about this..” Raphael groaned.

The Turtle moved down and slipped his hands underneath Terry’s shoulders and hoisted him up over his own carapace in a fireman’s carry. Now he had one of the fallen members of Team Fatal Fury in tow, soon he would have to find Mai Shiranui and also help her from out of the sewers.

It was the last which he could do before a well-deserved night’s rest.

The Turtles had spent the night and half of the next day resting up, recuperating from the fighting which they had endured with Team Fatal Fury. But the battle was a hard earned one and the brothers surely earned their stripes after having endured a grueling contest with the prior opposing team. Yet it had given the brothers some insight as to what they could be potentially facing as they would progress further ahead.

Donatello had even decided to replace the bo-staff which he had lost during his fight against Andy Bogard, choosing to forego the traditional wooden staff with the iron core, and opt for something more updated. Leonardo and Michelangelo were reviewing the footage over the battles between themselves, Mai Shiranui and Terry Bogard— looking to see where they had come up short, and how they could improve upon themselves to prevent losses like that from happening. As for Raphael,  the red masked hot-head more or less earned himself something of a well-deserved rest until the next match for them would be announced.

And it wasn’t long until the time had come for their next match.

Madison Square Garden was the perfect place to hold the next contest. The location for the next arranged match couldn’t perhaps be any more appropriate. This place had been host to many sporting events, ranging from basketball, hockey, boxing and pro-wrestling. And the arena seemed to be filled to capacity with people from all corners around the globe and from all walks of life. The Turtles couldn’t help but feel like as if they were in some sort of Rocky Balboa movie. Never did they once think that they would be competing here.

“You think Stallone’s watching?” Raphael asked.

“Oh, definitely. I mean he loves most things involving fisticuffs.” Michelangelo chuckled.

“I think Sly’s more about the boxing events than anything Martial Arts related. Hate to burst your bubble guys. Anyway, are we all ready and in top form?” Leonardo looked over to everyone else.

Donatello nodded, Michelangelo grinned and Raphael crossed his arms out in front of his plastron protected chest, slowly turning his head from side to side, snapping his neck joints for the moment. As far as Leonardo was able to tell, he and his brothers were indeed ready for the next battle. And when the announcer had called for their team designation, the four red masked brothers now stepped out from the back room and moved down the ramp.

“Kinda reminds you of the Triceraton arena, doesn’t it?” Michelangelo grinned.

“What planet were you on to remember it like this? The Triceratons didn’t cheer for us, they tried to kill us.” Raphael griped in response to his younger brother, shaking his head.

“Always the realist aren’t you, Raphael?” Donatello chimed.

The Turtles soon arrived at their corner of the arena, slipping underneath the ropes as they climbed in and now arose. They looked all around themselves to observe their surroundings. Nothing seemed to be odd here, it was nothing more than just an ordinary ring with the posts, turnbuckles and ropes. It wasn’t long until that the opposing team would be announced, and this made all four brothers raise their brows as they turned to look to one another.

From the other side of the arena, a group of four individuals had arrived. The central figure appeared to be a man, perhaps no younger than in his thirties and he had a quite determined look on his face. He also sported a white dobok with blue trims around the neck area and the bottom of his pants. Another man seemed to be wearing a brown fedora hat, a pair of steel claws on his hands and a pair of sun glasses over his eyes along with a pair of brown trousers. The other… was a much larger man with an enormous gullet, and dark beard which added to his rather gruff appearance, and he also heaved a very large steel ball in hand. The last was a white haired man sporting a tight blue sleeveless shirt, and a pair of dobok pants similar to the leading figure, but instead sported a pair of brown shoes.

As soon as all the opposition team had arrived, both teams began to size each other up.

“It’s so hard to believe that this team of cosplayers managed to actually earn their stripes here.” Jhun spoke out, quite perplexed how such an odd bunch managed to get this far into the tournament.

“Oh ho ho ho ho! They don’t look so very tough!” Chang commented, brushing his beard with a free hand as he grinned quite sinisterly.

“These chumps must’ve gotten by on luck!” Choi added.

“Well then, which one of us will go first?” Kim inquired as he eyed the other three members of his team.

“San Bum Nim, please allow me to go!” Chang stepped forward as he moved towards the center of the arena.

Raphael was about to go forth, as he moved his hands down to his utility belt but then was stopped by someone who he didn’t think would even attempt to get in his way. Donatello moved his right arm out and looked over to his hot-headed brother, before he stared ahead to the larger, burly Korean.

“Let me be the bad-ass this time!” Donatello grinned.

Raphael threw his hands up, and then shrugged his shoulders as he stepped back. Michelangelo beamed as he gripped onto the ropes firmly within his hands, nodding his head in appreciation of Donatello’s confidence. Leonardo looked over to the intellectual sibling, his left brow raised in curiosity.

“You sure you want to do this, Don?”

“Positive.”

“Then go do what you do…”

Donatello then stepped forth over to his towering opponent, and the red masked Turtle moved his head up and took a moment to observe and study Chang Koehan. Raising a hand to his chin, Donatello seemed to be assessing the situation now, and slowly nodded. Chang couldn’t help but blink at the Turtle for a moment.

“Ho-ho-ho! When this day is done, maybe I’ll have Turtle Soup for dinner!” Chang burst in laughter.

“Yeah, real original. At least I get to test out a new gadget!” Donatello gave off a flat smile to his opponent.

He moved his right hand to his utility belt around the back, and took hold of what seemed to be a metal rod which had a rubber grip in the center. And with a twist and a click, the weapon telescoped out, extending to it’s full length. And from the ends, an electrical blue glow emanated from them as Donatello then spun the new staff within his grasp and then shifted to his own fighting stance.

The announcer declared the beginning of the match, and the bell sounded for both contestants to commence.

The first match between the Turtles and Team Korea now began with what could only be described as a David and Goliath face off.

The next part in my Mirage TMNT storyline has finally been written after a week of waiting! This one was different in that I had a hard time in figuring out which team the Turtles should go up against and where to go from here. So I figure maybe put some other team that's a little more closer to their level. So, I figured that Team Korea would be the way to go. I would like to think that the Turtles more or less earned their stripes against Team Fatal Fury and would be perhaps better prepared to deal with more powerful opponents as well as get that experience which they were looking for to deal with essentially what might be super powered opponents in the long run.

For new readers who are just hopping onto this storyline here, I suggest you look at the Mirage TMNT Respect Thread to see what the Mirage Turtles are more than capable of.

--

Donatello is low tier superhuman in terms of physicals. Think Above Peak Human due to his mutation.

Donatello possesses a new Electro Bo-Staff, Electro Shurikens, Metsubushi Black Eggs filled with Ghost Chili Pepper and Kunai.

Chang Koehan is low-mid tier superhuman due to his size, weight and training.

Chang Koehan possess his Ball and Chain.

Chang Koehan has his moveset from the KOF games.

The recaps you give do work out quite well for the narrative you are working with Rakai, and I like how you continue to keep up the intensity of the emotions, the power of the fights, and the sense of anticipation of who is going to win, in spite of already knowing the outcome, based on the votes themselves, as these things make the readers gravitate more into the story and provide a great sense of suspense to how things are going to happen, what is going to happen, and why they are going to happen, or rather occur in the way in which they do, so onto all that, I can only really say excellent work. You are working real hard, and it shows, as I can see you going into each match and really digging into the things you want to include in your recaps, as well as being faithful to the source material of both franchises, all of which isn't easy to do, so it stands to reason that your efforts really are working out well for you here.

This fight is going to be interesting for sure Rakai, as Donatello does no doubt have his work cut out from him, Chang Koehan seems to be incredibly strong and incredibly powerful if his opponents get in too close to him, but I'm thinking that Donnie knows that and won't fight him that way. From what I understand, Donatello will probably try and stick to keeping out of grasp and aiming for his knees, his legs and his lower body, as opposed to his upper body, because while his lower body is still strong, it is evident that Koehan doesn't rely as much on kicks and the like, as he does with his ball and chain, and upper body strength, thus, if Donnie can manage to pin him in areas like his knees and his legs, I'm thinking he can wear down Chang greatly enough, to leave his upper body areas, like his face/head exposed and vulnerable for attack. Donnie's smart, without a doubt, and if he attacks him like this, especially with this electric staff of his, he'll have a great chance of winning, even so he'll still have to deal with Chang's strength, and potential reverberation attacks, if his ball hits the mat too hard, but I think Donnie's durable enough, and likely skilled enough to manage with both aspects of things.

Thanks man, I usually try and visualize how I write up the recap battles and do my best to put in the details of these particular battles. With the previous fight, I wanted to convey a sense of urgency from both sides to where they would have to fight harder and try to have a different approach to each other. I want this storyline to be as successful if not better than my Predator storylines.

Thanks for the input here! Choosing who the Turtles would go up against next was difficult because most of Team Korea wasn't added to the database, so I had to add a few of them here and I needed to figure out who would go against who.

I figured that Donatello would want to go first because he wants to make up for his draw against Andy Bogard. And to keep up with the competition, he would need to tinker and make up some new gadgets. It's also a nod to the IDW Donatello and Injustice Donatello as they both upgraded their bo-staff weapons.

Finally got around to your match, Rakai. Sorry for the delay. :)

Another great one here and very good recap of Raph and Terry. Raphael really utilized his ninjutsu in this one.

As for the match, it almost looks like Mirage Donnie has a version of the Bo staff that his RoTMNT counterpart wielded. He might need it here, because I'm pretty sure Chang has a fairly definitive strength advantage. It's probably not too much unlike what Donatello and his bros had to deal with in the Triceratons, but Chang just might be a bit stronger and more skilled than the average Triceraton.

In the end, though, I think Donnie might just eke this one out with his own skill and gadgets.

With the Raphael and Terry Bogard recap, I really wanted to empahsize how Raphael was able to use his ninjutsu against such an opponent who had raw power and explosive power like Terry Bogard, so I did my best to work with what I had in mind and do my best to put it down on the pages which I was writing on with MSWord. I think I did a pretty decent enough job on there anyway! At least, I think I did, at the risk of tooting my own horn!

Donatello's new Bo-staff is meant to be more in a tribute to the IDW Donatello, who actually has a metal bo-staff which generates electricity and molecular frequencies which enable him to hit intangible opponents, and the Injustice Donatello who can be equipped with a Legendary level tech staff. But this staff just retracts and protracts and generates electrical currents and shocks, similar to Nightwing's staff.

Excellent set up Rakai, I've been a bit busy so I honestly forgot what the final vote was for Raphael's match. I think it was a very tense match and it definitely felt like Terry was one special move away from causing some serious damage to the turtle, but in the end, I think Raphael played it perfectly.

As far as this match goes, I am once again faced with an opponent I have no experience with. I did some basic research on Chang, but as always, it seems like his skills are really subjective beyond his strength and endurance. I mean, this wiki I found lists him as FTL because he was able to dodge an attack? I know that's not possible. So with all that being said, if it's just brute strength and being a tough guy, I got to give this one to Donatello. Let's keep the turtles rolling.

Yeah, I wanted to convey a sense of urgency and pressure which both sides were experiencing as their teams were on the line. I want to think that I did an alright job with that. I really didn't think Team Fatal Fury would give the Turtles so much trouble but the brothers really were tested and earned their stripes.

One of the best things about using seldom used and obscure characters on the CBUB is that it encourages people to look up what these characters are capable of and who they are.

And Chang being FTL? No way. Not with his size and weight. The games don't even corroborate with that claim.

Thanks for commenting, Marvel Man!

An epic finale for the Fatal Fury/Ninja Turtle team battle, RakaiThwei. I am racking my brain for another team that will fight this closely with the tutles, partly because Team Fatal Fury has two of the most popular characters in KOF in both Terry and Mai. Even with Ryo, I don't see Team Japan getting much support for Benimaru or Goro Daimon or Shingo. You could lead up to the Sacred Treasures team like they are doing in KOF XV, that would be a hard challenge. Especially if the fourth member was someone like Ash Crimson. Not that I am trying to tell you how to do your tournament, I am thoroughly enjoying it.

As for the match at hand, Chang Koehan is a big, dumb ox. He has impressive strength, but Donatello is a smart enough fighter to keep Chang at arms length while he is dishing out punishment.

Not that I am trying to tell you how to do your tournament, I am thoroughly enjoying it.

I actually am currently thinking in which direction I could take this assuming the Turtles manage to get through Team Korea. I have considered on the idea of having Chizuru confront and test out the brothers with mirror versions of themselves represented by the various versions of the TMNT through the different mediums. I have also considered them in taking on Team CSY (Chris, Shermie and Yashiro) as well, with Iori being the fourth... And of course there's the Japan Team. And sure, there are three Three Sacred Treasures as well, but finding a fourth member for the team would be difficult.

There's also the Team Ikari, Team Mexico, then there's the Orochi Team (Iori, Mature, Vice and Yamazaki).

So far, the Turtles have beaten Team Kyokugen, Team Psycho Soldier, and they edged out against Team Fatal Fury.

Who and where to go next is... up in the air.
