Actually forget about it... this is dead. If someone want's to take the reigns then go ahead.

Darn. This one was actually starting to be fun too.

Oh, so we're not continuing?

Shame, I looked forward to bombed-out Nation States. Shame, a setting were nations are squabbling away with each other while they start to realize that the Earth is doomed and mankind can never regain it's once proud civilization would have been sweet.

A bit late to the party am I? I just joined nation states and moved to Khazan. If you still go on, you can guess my nation from the list of Khazan nations.

Don't suppose anyone would be willing to fix this broken bus up and drive it now would they?

I would do it, but I simply don't have any time to (as it is I only have a few hours a week to myself).

If I had a better idea of what my schedule for work would be, I would consider it.

Especially since I would have to probably be neutral in a scenario and couldn't crush people with my 1.5 trillion dollar military budget. :P

Nations Name

The Queendom of Azhlaetis

Nations Leader

Her Majesty, Queen Miranda Vale VII

The Queendom of Azhlaetis

History

Long before Azhlaetis was taken over by a dictatorial regime it was a grand Parliamentary Matriarchy, since it's beginning the Azhlaetis Dynasty ruled benevolently. Until that fateful day when the Parliament Building was bombed and the Queen assassinated, like clockwork at virtually the same time.

Terrorist leader Miranda Vale took control of the government and crowned herself Empress of the Region, which was not met kindly by her fellow nations. After two years of quietly building up a massive war machine she launched and all out war on her fellow nations. Six years later the Azhlaetis invasion troops were pushed back to the very steps of the Matriarchal Palace. After which, Miranda's servants killed her and the war ended with the Treaty of Azalea (Capital City); in which, the regions nations reluctantly named Miranda's daughter, Miranda Vale II as Queen.

She restored the country to its former role as quiet Parliamentary Matriarchy. But as they say, history repeats itself; Miranda Vale I great-great-great-great-great-great-granddaughter, Miranda VII has restored her ancestor's tyrannical regime.

Geography

Number of Provinces:

Azhlaetis contains six Provinces: Azhael (Northwest), Grolyn (North and Northeast), Mesa (Southeast), Fallice (Southwest), Vygii (small central area), and Brookston (East and large central area, but mostly mountainous).

Azhael is the largest Province and the Capital Province housing the Capital City and the Parliament Building. Grolyn is the second largest Province. Mesa is next, then Fallice and Vygii; these three often coming in with close results every census. Brookston is the smallest Province but it is where the Matriarchal Palace is located.

Climate/Terrain:

Most of Azhlaetis is blanketed in sheets of ice and snow. Home to the regions largest annual snowfall levels, snowing virtually everyday for nine out of the twelve months. The majority of the nation is mountainous but there are several large fields in the low southeast side of the nation; however, these areas usually only reach a high of 46° at any given day, the national average being -26°.

Natural Resources:

Potatoes and Rice are virtually all that can be grown in Azhlaetis as far as food goes, however, the many snow topped mountain ranges are filled with natural gases, oils, and precious metals. The nation is widely known for making the best hard liquor in the region, mostly in the form of vodkas and ciders.

Natural Hazards:

Hypothermia is a frequent risk as well as avalanches and the occasional collapsing of surfaces into the deep underground chasms. Within the many mines of Azhlaetis there are few cave-ins due to the many strict regulations but igniting the natural gasses being mined is another thing altogether. Many mines have completely been blown to bits because of this.

Military

The people of Azhlaetis hold the idea of law and order in high esteem; they are rather paranoid and the military makes up approximately 34% of the population, closely followed by education with 29% and manufacturing at 24% and social welfare equally about 11% while the other 2% occupy the political field. The high number of people in the military is because of mandatory military service for four years after graduating high school, after which the government pays for two years of college for each soldier.

Within the Royal Azhlaetian Military (RAM) there are five branches: the Militant, the Royal Air Force, the Royal Navy, the Royal Automatons, and the Specialists (Snow Stalkers/Marines/SWAT/Falcons).

Every soldier carries a Survival Pack, which includes a thermo blanket, enough food for approximately two weeks on their own if they would need it, gloves, a flashlight and a set of spare batteries and a flare gun with three spare flares. Despite the treacherous conditions of Azhlaetis' snow peaks the government views its troops as, for the most part, disposable.

Tank:

The most widely used tank would be the SL-98K, or Snow Leopard. Equipped with two forward and backward mounted automated machineguns and a main rocket launching turret. Capable of speeds of 65mph at a 45° incline the Snow Leopard has perfected for snowy and icy terrain, its four separate, spiked treads.

The second most used tank is the SA-42X, otherwise known as the Shaker. Mounted with one massive assault battery at the top of the vehicle its main purpose is to position itself on the ledge or apex of a mountain and bombard the enemy with a shower of shells and shrapnel.

Aircraft:

The two most widely known aircrafts of the Royal Azhlaetis Air Force are the 66R, Raven, and the H1-36, Harbinger. The Raven is the main fighting plane, specializing in aerial dog fighting and bomb drops. While the Harbinger is a sick and twisted invention used on enemy civilian settlements. This aircraft is equipped with a cocktail of diseases and toxic chemicals. It is also used in recon missions.

I would like a piece of land to the northern area of the region please :P

Huh, oh heh.

Well sure, but I doubt that this is really going to go anywhere... You didn't need to make an account just for this. I mean glad to have you here, but as I said earlier this is pretty much a dead pet of ours that we just can't seem to let go.

In all honesty, If I knew the system skirm was using to run this thing, I have enough free time to beat it into gear again

To be honest... 1/3 Numbers, 1/3 Computation, 1/3 Gut Instinct....

I took in all the data I could and attempted to process it, but the thing I had set up was better run on a computer, not a man...

Perhaps if someone knew programming, and could set it up to be automated it would work... but the system was too complex for a simple RP on a Forum.

What do you mean? I mean I know simple Java and HTML, but what do you mean but "set it up to be automated"?

Well... We'd have to make it work so that Each player can easily figure out what is where. To do that you'd need a Static map with overlays to represent the various National Territories as well as their units. After it figures all that out it would have to generate a picture showing the board as it is in that turn.

Then while a Battle could easily be Roleplayed, the best system would be one that took the numbers and crunched them with a dash of Random to generate a Winner/Loser plus casualties.

Perhaps we could try a simpler system?

Anyone here play "Risk"?

That is actually a great idea, but maybe a little too simple? Ever play Axis & Allies?

Sadly no.

Is it awesome? If it's interesting, I'll check it out.

It is interesting, but also more complex than Risk... I think that if one could adapt the system for Online Forum Play, it would work for this RP.

Hmm, doesn't sound too complicated... How would we/I integrate this though? I mean I don't think a whole fancy program will do anyone much good if its just sitting here on my computer.

Heh, my cousin tried to get me into that... yeah it didn't work. I loved Risk, but the whole A&A system seemed kinda weird to me.

Ok...

Say the Program takes a Map of the region. A Blank Canvass, white with only the boarders between territories. That picture does not change.

Then it assesses who owns what territories based on who owned what last turn and how battles for went this turn. Territories are the first overlay.

It assesses what certain players own, for instance, number of Soldiers, number of Tanks, number of air support in the area and provides the last overlay.

The three "Pictures" then get layered into one where we see what is going on where in the turn and spits out a Fresh image that you can throw online and post.

Yeah, it was weird for me at first, but it was an intriguing system.

Oh, so you meant to just take the image it spits out and post it?

Well that's much simpler than what I was originally thinking you meant. For some reason I thought you meant to have the program somehow plug directly into the thread...

I might be able to pull this off... I'll try working on it over Thanksgiving or Christmas vacation. I'll post here if I get something done or have a question on how the system should work. The most complicated part seems like it'll be getting the program to display forces proportionate to the actual number on the image.

Yeah, it was weird for me at first, but it was an intriguing system.

It just seemed overcomplicated to me. I mean if I ever took the time to get used to it, I think I might have liked it. I just didn't feel like learning all of that though, especially since I'd only play it like once every other month with my cousin.
