Detective Challenge: Stockholm Syndrome

Uh, it really depends on the versions of each character. If it's the book versions, then Holmes wins for sure. If it's like the Sherlock show I feel like Moriarty would do very well, but Holmes might still be able to pull it off.

My view is that the challenge does not favor Sherlock Holmes.

In the BBC series, which is what I have to go on, Sherlock Holmes is asocial at best.  The challenge at hand would require a bit of empathy or social engineering or psychology.  I guess it is doable but it's not Holmes' strong area.  Holmes isn't particularly personable.

Moriarty is personable enough, albeit a sociopath.  He's probably the strong horse in this tug of war for the victim.

Heh, I was wondering if the Draft would make this match-up. :D

In most versions of Sherlock Holmes's story, he generally outsmarts Moriarty. Cracking this hostage's Stockholm Syndrome would be tough, but I can see Sherlock researching the hostage's history (family, interests, etc.) and maybe using that information and his own smarts to break Moriarty's bond with him/her.

I'm a little surprised by how big the voting difference was here. I mean, I get it, but I thought Moriarty had a really good shot in this one
