Roger's by the book way of acting might actually work against him here, considering he's up against unconventional enemies. Martin should do a lot better considering his penchant for improvising.

How I envision this going down is they are working the case together, but one of them gets knocked unconscious early in the investigation.  So it's up to the other one to take down The Elves.

Just don't know which one I think should get knocked unconscious yet :)

I'm going with Murtaugh on this one.  He may be getting "too old for this shit", as he likes to say, but I think he's ready to get medieval on any Christmas Hellspawn that might be a danger to his family.

And his family always seems to get caught up in these things.
