The gang of bandits whooped and cheered, brandishing weapons of their own. Bandit Keith grinned, snapping his cards into place onto his duel disk. “My monsters pack a punch! Cyber Soldier, Giga-Tech Wolf, attack!”

Yamcha's grip tightened around the hilt of his Azure Dragon Sword, "Stay back, Jennifer. This won't take long," he said, standing in front of her, ready to battle. Jennifer stayed back, letting him take the lead.

The machines surged forward, but Yamcha dodged Giga-Tech Wolf’s snapping jaws by moving quickly to the side. The machines followed, which is just what Yamcha wanted. Yamcha unsheathed his sword and countered the wolf machine's next attack. A swift slash of his sword cut deep into the machine’s shoulder. Sparks flew, but the wolf retaliated with a swipe of its razor-sharp claws, forcing him to roll away.

From the corner of his eye, Yamcha caught Cyber Soldier charging in, its arm cannon aimed directly at him. The blast fired, sending a beam of searing energy his way. Yamcha spun his sword, deflecting the blast skyward, where it exploded harmlessly.

Keith scowled, "“You think that’s all I’ve got? Giga-Tech Wolf, Cyber Soldier, double-team him!” The two mechanical monsters charged simultaneously, Giga-Tech Wolf leaping with its jaws wide open, while Cyber Soldier fired a volley of energy blasts to cover its approach.

"You must’ve forgotten who you’re dealing with," Yamcha said under his breath, then dashing forward with incredible speed, leaping above Cyber Soldier and delivering a powerful stab of his sword into the machine's back. The impact sent a shower of sparks flying, and the machine fell and dissipated. The Cyber Soldier card left Keith's field of play and into his graveyard.

Yamcha returned to the air, anticipating the Giga-Tech Wolf's next strike. He channeled his ki and charged at Giga-Tech Wolf with a flurry of punches and kicks, unleashing a Wolf Fang Fist. The wolf staggered, its metallic frame dented and sparking, then fell and dissipated like the other machine. Yamcha returned his sword to its sheath then glared at Keith and his bandits.

"You ready to back off? Because I don't have the time for this," Yamcha said.

Keith stumbled back, sweat beading on his forehead. “Damnit! Those were my good cards!”

Keith, remembering that his gang was watching, steeled himself and drew another card. "Bandit Keith doesn't give up that easy. I've got something that will end you," he slammed the card down onto the duel disk. "Kick his ass, Barrel Dragon!"

The ground trembled as a massive, mechanical dragon emerged from the sand in-between Yamcha and the gang of bandits.

“Barrel Dragon?” Yamcha muttered, a smirk curling at the corner of his mouth. “Is this supposed to be the big finish, Keith?”

Keith’s grin returned, twisted with desperation. “You’re about to find out! Barrel Dragon, attack! Fire your Triple Barrel Cannon!”

Yamcha stood his ground, his eyes narrowing as he assessed the monster. He knew well that direct assaults would be risky against such firepower.

As the Barrel Dragon charged its cannons, Yamcha's instincts kicked in. He dashed at blinding speed, a blur to the bandits. Just as the dragon fired, Yamcha leaped high into the air, the energy blasts missing him and creating explosions in the sand behind him.

Descending with the force of his momentum, Yamcha summoned his ki, focusing it into a glowing blue orb in his palms. "Kamehameha!!!" He thrust his arms forward, unleashing the attack point blank.

A small explosion erupted, the dragon engulfed in the powerful wave. As the dust settled, remnants of the dragon lay scattered across the sand, its circuits sparking and fizzling out.

Keith, stood in disbelief, his duel disk smoking slightly from the overload. "No... how could my Barrel Dragon lose?!"

The rest of the bandits looked to their leader, wondering what to do next. Keith's face twisted with frustration, clenching his fists. "Alright, boys, time to switch tactics!"

At his signal, Keith and his bandits pulled out various firearms, aiming at the desert warrior Yamcha. Yamcha landed back on the ground and upon seeing the weapons, decided to finally end this. His aura flared as the bandits opened fire.

Yamcha used his incredible agility to dodge the bullets. He darted back and forth across the sandy battlefield, his movements a blur as he dashed for the bandits. "Wolf Fang Fist!"

He moved like a whirlwind among the bandits, powerful punches to sent the bandits flying backward or to knock them unconscious. In a blink of the eye, Keith found his bandit gang in shambles. "Stay still, you freak!" Keith yelled, his voice betraying his fear. With a burst of speed, Yamcha was upon Keith before he could react. Yamcha grabbed the gun, easily twisting it out of Keith's hands and tossing it aside. He then grabbed him by the collar, lifting him slightly off the ground. "It's over."

Keith punched Yamcha to no effect. Yamcha delivered a blow to his solar plexus, knocking Bandit Keith unconscious and defeated.

Yamcha stood over Bandit Keith, checking if the man was still breathing. He was. Just barely.

Yamcha looked up, noticing Jennifer standing nearby. Jennifer wiped her mouth quickly, giving him a sly grin as she walked over to him, "That got... intense."

"Intense?" Yamcha raised an eyebrow, catching a faint streak of red on the edge of her lip. A panic feeling found him in his chest, "Are you okay? Did one of them get you when I wasn't looking?"

Jennifer acted cool, running a hand through her hair, "Chill-out, Superhero. I'm fine. Let’s focus on those Dragon Balls, yeah?"

"Right," Yamcha didn't see any other signs of injury on Jennifer, so she probably didn't need a senzu. And the fight wasn't much more of a warm up for him, so best to save them for later. He turned his attention toward Puar's grave, focusing on the task ahead.

"With Bulma gone to space, we can't get our hands on the Dragon Radar. I guess I could go ask Baba," Yamcha said.

"Baba?" Jennifer asked, a hint of concern in her voice, "As in Baba Yaga?"

"Yeah, Fortuneteller Baba," Yamcha replied, noticing Jennifer's concern. "She's a bit eccentric, but she can find anything, even the Dragon Balls."

Jennifer was quiet for a moment, then gave Yamcha a look of confidence, "Well, sounds like our best bet. Lead the way." She emphasized her point by rubbing on his arm lovingly. He blushed, then gave her a nod. The two departed, traveling to the far end of the desert to find Baba's home.

Two hours later

"This is it," Yamcha announced, "Baba's place should be right through here."

The pair stood before the front entrance of Baba's Palace, wasting little time entering and finding their way to Baba. Yamcha explained to Jennifer that he'd been here before years ago and had a good idea of where Baba would be. "She's probably in the divination room."

The interior of the palace was dimly lit, adorned with all manner of mystical artifacts. Jennifer glanced around, her curiosity piqued by the mysterious items surrounding them. "It’s like something out of a storybook," she whispered, her eyes wide as she carefully avoided touching anything. They continued through a particularly ornate hallway, reaching a room with a crystal ball in the center. Floating above a large crystal ball, was Baba herself. The tiny, wizened woman, draped in robes that seemed too large for her frail frame.

"Ah, Yamcha, back again are we? And with a new face this time," Baba cackled, her voice echoing slightly off the high, arched ceilings. "What brings you to my doorstep after so long?"

Yamcha stepped forward, bowing out of respect. "Baba, I need your help. I'm looking for the Dragon Balls. I need them to bring Puar back to life."

Baba peered closely at Yamcha, her eyes narrowing as she took in his earnest expression. Then, her gaze shifted to Jennifer, sizing her up with a discerning look. "And what does she want?" Baba finally asked.

The question surprised Yamcha and Jennifer, who immediately went on the defensive. "What the hell does that mean, you dried up bitch?"

"DRIED UP-" Baba shouted, but was cut off by Yamcha trying to deescalate things. "Woah, woah, woah. She is with me, Baba. This is Jennifer, she is my girlfriend. She wants the same thing as I do."

Baba paused, her eyes flickering between Jennifer and Yamcha, then a slow, knowing smile crept across her face. "Very well, Yamcha. After all, it's none of my business."

She returned to her crystal ball, settling down, ""But as you know, my help comes with a price. You must prove your worth through a test."

Yamcha nodded, prepared for this condition. "I understand, Baba. What kind of test are we talking about?"

Baba's eyes twinkled mischievously. "It just so happens I've summoned another warrior who is searching for the dragon balls. Prove your worth by defeating him, and I’ll grant your request.”

As if on cue, the shadows of the room deepened, and a tall, imposing figure stepped forward from the darkness behind Baba. It was Raditz, his long hair flowing behind him and his arms crossed in front of his chest. Above his head hung a halo. His smirk was almost taunting.

“Raditz…” Yamcha muttered, his fists clenching.

"You know this guy?" Jennifer asked.

"We've not met, but I know him. He's Goku's Saiyan brother." Yamcha responded, steeling himself. Even from here he could feel Raditz's power. Yamcha knew this would not be an easy fight.

"Another Earthling standing in my way. And worst yet you were that ridiculous Gi my brother wore. I'll tear it from your corpse when I'm done with you, you hear me? Those dragon balls are mine!"

Baba clapped her hands, her voice sharp. "Begin!"

Another good story and matchup for Yamcha, Russ. Wonder when he's gonna see Jennifer's true colors, though. Knowing him, it may not be soon enough. :D

As for the match, since both Yamcha and Raditz are their Saiyan Saga selves, unless Raditz received a zenkai when Baba brought him in, Yamcha should be able to win. Yamcha was dealing with a Saibaman as powerful as Raditz easily enough in the same saga. Yamcha may need a senzu bean afterward, though.

I do imagine that Raditz is a little bit stronger after his defeat at the hands of piccolo and Goku. So let's say he does have that boost here, which really puts them at equal footing.

In that case, this becomes more interesting.

We never find out how much older Raditz is than Goku, but it's probably safe to say that Raditz has an edge on Yamcha in fighting experience since saiyans normally start fighting at a very young age. I think Yamcha knows more techniques, though, and while both tend to get pretty cocky, Yamcha is probably a little more cunning.

Yamcha could probably still win due to knowing more techniques, his slightly-superior cunning, and maybe his sword, but it definitely won't be easy.

He won't be overwhelmed, I think. Really, because he has senzu, he'll get the edge as he can heal himself if things start to go south.
