leroypowell3
General Hawk could read the unhappiness in the other man’s posture. He decided to begin gently. “I wanted to meet with you before the others got here. Just to clear some air.” There was no response. Hawk continued. “Your people have taken a heavy hit. I know what it’s like to loose good men.” “General,” Commissioner Gordon finally responded. “This is not right. G.I. Joe shouldn’t be here.” “We have orders from The President...” “I know. I know. I read it twenty-five times.” Gordon snipped. “Just because Gotham is bidding to host the Olympics doesn’t mean we need military occupation.” Hawk breathed, choosing his reply carefully. “You have to admit, Gotham is a unique place. The brand of evildoers here are...” “Out of this world.” Gordon finished the idea. Hawk tried to share a smile but the commissioner wasn’t jesting. Gordon talked on. “The mayor wants the city cleaned up to show the Olympic committee that Gotham can keep the Joker or Scarecrow from poisoning the stadium. Both of those men are in custody by the way.” “Thanks to Batman.” Hawk countered. “Who is of planet with the Justice League from what I understand. “And when the bat is away...” He didn’t finish the statement. Commissioner Gordon shifted to make his next point. “Here’s my problem, General Hawk. G.I. Joe is a military unit. You’re going to come in here and take this city military style. I got a look at what you did with COBRA in Springfield.” “That was a different scenario.” said Hawk. “Springfield was a COBRA base. Everyone there was COBRA. These crazies you’ve got in Gotham are just bad seeds. The Joes will come in and eliminate their threat.” Gordon looked for clarification. “Eliminate them, or their threat?” “We’ve got rules of engagement, Commissioner.” said Hawk. “This isn’t a ‘by any means necessary’ operation.” “That doesn’t answer my question.” General Hawk thought hard before he stood up and walked out. “Just know that Gotham will be a safer city once we’re done.” The police commissioner sighed with a heavy disapproval. “Seek and destroy, then.” Fight parameters: GI Joe sets up shop in Gotham City to clean up the place of Batman’s rouge gallery. They have one year to succeed. Every single GI Joe is on the job (last I heard there was 150 but probably more by now). The Batvillians don’t know this is happening. Some are already incarcerated while others are at large. That means there’s plenty of time for people to cause trouble and then escape and cause more trouble. Can GI Joe clean up Gotham or are the Batvillians too crazy for them?

Twogunkid
Every single Batvillain is a lot. Off hand they have... Rupert Thorne and his mob. Black mask and his mob. The Penguin and his mob. The Court of Owls Mr. Freeze, Scarecrow, Bane, Poison Ivy, Jokery, Harley, Killer Croc, Hush, The Riddler, Catwoman, Firefly, Two-Face, it's a litany. I think they do a good job with non crime-lord villains. Pretty sure Snake Eyes is a match for many of Batman's rogues alone. The problems come with the likes of the mobs and Court of Owls. That has a far greater likelyhood of turning into gang warfare and creating more chaos and bloodshed on the streets of Gotham. I give this to Gotham with organized crime able to succesfully weather the storm.

Pizzaguy2995
I’m betting on the Joes, I know folks tend to only remember Snake-Eyes but the Joes have tons of other badass mofos besides him: Duke, Flint, Spirit, Scarlet, Roadblock, and Lady Jaye are all tough enough to take on almost any Gotham villains as well as Snake-Eyes and considering they regularly take on a global terrorist organization bent on controlling the world, I would think a dozen or so city level villains would be more then within their ability to handle. RakaiThwei
I'm gonna go with the G.I. Joes here... Especially if we're counting the fact that they've gone up against worse things than what Gotham has to offer them such as their encounters with the combined forces of Cobra and the Decepticons! RiotGear
If it's all the Joes then they've got the Green shirts with them too, not just named characters, so a lot more then 150. We should also remember that the Joes have half a ninja clan at there disposal and spacecraft and mechs/power armor.
DSkillz
Nice to see you back in the fold making matches, leroy! Heh, Gotham City getting an Olympic bid. Wonder who they had to bribe? This is a pretty good match, but, and you probably know what I'm gonna say, it's a little short. I have no doubt the Joes can take down Gotham's criminal element. Bane would be among the toughest threats, but the Joes just might still have Sgt. Slaughter among their ranks. After all, Slaughter did someone manage to out-brawl Nemesis Enforcer, a being who was able to do things like this. The real question is, though, how long would they be asked to contain the bad guys? I'm something of an Olympics enthusiast, so I know some stuff. Is G.I. Joe being asked to keep them under control right after Gotham gets the bid? If so, that's a full seven years from when a city gets the bid, preps and remodels accordingly, to when the Olympics are actually held. I have my doubts that even the Joes can keep the likes of Joker, Scarecrow, Clayface, Ivy, etc. contained for that long. Or, are the Joes only brought in not long before the Olympics start? If that's the case, then I think they can at least keep the most dangerous ones at bay for a few weeks.
leroypowell3
For the sake of the vote, I'd say just before the games. Nobody can keep Gotham contained fore seven years. And also, I hadn't considered the mobsters. That's a fight that would end up causing the collateral damage that Commissioner Gordon is worried about in the story. I think as long as they're not doing something outrageous the Joes will leave the organized crime alone and focus on the crazies. Besides if I was a crime boss I would lay low if I knew GI Joe was intown.
SSJRuss
Great story, Leroy. I like the premise. I think I'll side with Gotham on this one. A whole year is a long time and even the Joes would be outnumbered. Gotham just has too many wackos that they aren't prepared for. And if the Bat-Family can't keep Gotham streets clean for a week, I don't think G.I. Joe can handle a year.

In that case, I think the Joes can successfully keep Gotham's Olympic Village safe for the duration of the games, albeit with some close calls. As mentioned, it likely won't just be the named specialists (Duke, Snake Eyes, Scarlett, etc.) keeping guard. G.I. Joe also has a literal small army of unnamed grunts.
