Here are some example fights you could do (I was bored and figured this could get creative juices flowing):

Harry Potter vs. Ahsoka

Geralt of Rivia vs. Any Power Ranger Ever

Gandalf vs. Emperor Palpatine

Ewoks vs. G'mork

Conan The Barbarian vs. The Predator (Or Xenomorph)

Jon Snow vs. Graboids

King of the Dead vs. Ghostbusters

Willy Wonka vs. HAL 9000

It's not particularly discouraged to, for a totally innocuous and unspecific example, use a character (like Predator maybe idk) twice for this month's two matches?

There is nothing in the rules about it.  Feel free to re-use characters if desired.

I, personally, just rate on how well constructed and entertaining the set-up is.

Hey, is it possible to move a character in the database to a different category in regards to this tournament or use them despite that? Just asking because I was looking at either Commander Shepard or the Dovahkiin but they're both in the games category, though they are undeniably sci-fi and fantasy characters respectively as well.

I understand where you are coming from on it, but no it is not possible.

You will have to use what is in the categories as is, or add new characters.  The site was on ice for 7 years - gotta be a few new characters out there.

I've never understood why "Games" is its own categories. The rest of the categories are genres, but games and anime are just mediums. They're not really descriptive of the product. Like, "movies" isn't a category

Yeah, it wasn't very well thought out, unfortunately.

Maybe we could do sub-categories? Like you go to Games then it's divided by genre. You could do the same with movies or TV.

I'd say this is probably the better topic to continue the discussion in:

I barely written at all this month. Every time I sit down to do it I get blocked or distracted. I don't think I'll even win but I will try to get my matches done. Fingers crossed

I dunno.  Maybe you should save that creativity for October.

Yeah I've decided not to participate this month. Just can't sit down long enough to do it. I'll save my energy for October. Besides, I don't think I'd win this month anyway, the quality of matches from everyone has been sooooo good.

If anybody wants to take my match idea... one of them was The Death Star vs. Zeus

I want to thank everyone who participated in September.

I have seen a lot of great and memorable matches over the last few months.  Who could forget Bergy_Berg's three-match story or SSJRuss' 'Beetlejuice vs. Batman'?

September was no different and... dare I say... I think the bar has even been raised.  I will have to personally re-evaluate what I consider a '5-star' match in the coming months.  They are just all that good.

Thanks for all the great reads!

Kudos to corvette1710 for the match "Predator vs. Scorpion King" which earned a perfect score from the Judges.  That said, there were many very creative and well written matches this month. Many great reads with high scores.

Thanks and hope to see you next month!

Congrats, Johnny and Corvette!

We'll have to seriously start thinking about putting these tourney-winning matches in the Hall of Fame and Outstanding Match Set-Ups threads.
