Ooh, cool match up here! Both have very versatile power sets and they operate on a pretty high level but I think I’m favoring Atom in this fight, I find him more impressive overall.

I concur on both points

Quasar is also cosmic level and has some potential counters to Captain Atom. One of those being...

Energy Drain: Quasar can drain nearly any type of energy from an opponent or object such as a star.  This could prove useful in making Captain Atom weaker.

I accept that, at his most powerful, Captain Atom is over Quasar's tier. That said, Quasar is no slouch of an opponent and has a storied history of defeating powerful cosmic opponents.

What’s stopping Quasar from draining Captain Atom, given that he’s just atomic energy encased in a shiny wrapper? Just based off the Infinity War series, Quasar was pretty highly rated so I’m surprised he’s decidedly lower here.

Well, if you are asking me then I would say Quasar does indeed have tools in his toolbox to win this match. That being one of the big ones.

Some might only compare Captain Atom's and Quasar's tiers on Vs Battle Wiki, tho.

Um...his own energy absorption and manipulation powers on a ridiculous scale? Like, he was able to basically turn off Firestorm's powers at will? His matter, time or space manipulation powers? The fact he's way more than just atomic energy in a shiny wrapper?

.

My understanding is that Captain Atom is made up of energy, and when breached he can leak and potentially explode

Looking at energy absorption and manipulation, I’m not sure who is better. It looks like Quasar was able to manipulate and absorb the Rachel Summers Phoenix, but Captain Atom has some higher feats.

Atom’s energy absorption seems to have a cap on it: “ If Atom absorbs too much energy at once, he will be sent hurtling through time. Depending on the type of energy absorbed, he either goes forward or backwards”

Both of these have similar abilities, but I'm almost certain that Captain Atom has done things on a higher scale. Quasar can manipulate the energy of Captain Atom, sure, but he's a manipulator as well and has showcased higher quality. Only thing Quasar has is the fact that he conjures things up most of the time, while Captain Atom uses energy blasts. Basically, if I were to put them into context, Quasar is more akin to being the Green Lantern of Marvel, while Captain Atom is more akin to being the Silver Surfer of DC (powerwise, at least.)

Yes, and he once absorbed the collective energy of 51 alternate universe versions of himself at the same time and he didn’t get sent through time in any way so that cap wasn’t reached there. Again, Quasar’s good, Atom at his best is just levels above.

As CT said, Captain Atom has absorbed the energy of 51 alternate universes. If this comes down to who can drain who’s energy first, C. Atom has it in the bag. Otherwise, C. Atom has much greater and more consistent showings when it comes to combat and battling equally powerful foes.
