It isn't that inconceivable. Until they realize every part of his being has to be erased that is. If they are on Earth, they won't go all out for fear of destroying the planet. You can "take" something on without winning.

Depending on which group of Avengers it is, Kid Buu would be dealt with quite handily as well. Doctor Strange, Black Bolt, Sentry, Iron Man etc can handle it.

I really doubt any form of Buu would be affected by telepathy.

 

Considering Sentry is dead, out of those guys, Buu would be bored quickly. He would sense they have low power levels, and just destroy the planet if they were the only ones there.

He'd have to hit Kid Buu first, which would be extremely difficult considering he knows IT.

Strange would probably be murdered right off the bat. Kid Buu wants to play with strong opponents like Goku. Again, Strange's power is in his magical ability, not his life force(ki), Buu would sense little ki in him, and wipe him out.

 

What do you think Strange could do that would stop him anyways?

If he banished him, he could IT back. IT is capable of traveling through dimensions. Plus Buu could scream open a rift in the space time continuum like he did before Again, I think telepathy won't do anything to him.
