Match 19626 John Constantine vs. Sam and Dean Winchester

John Constantine, the master of the dark arts, legendary exorcist, and foul-mouthed Englishman, was known for engaging with the supernatural in ways most couldn't handle. It was not uncommon for him to communicate with spectral beings - good or bad - all in order to keep the balance in the supernatural world. Yet powerful hidden lore was something that peaked even his interest, arousing his curiosity and insatiable thirst for knowledge.

One chilly autumn night, whispering winds bore eerie messages - a seemingly innocent spirit named Seraphina was pleading for Constantine's help. She claimed to be trapped by a demonic curse and wanted liberation. As a reward, she promised to reveal an ancient supernatural secret buried deep within the grounds of the old, abandoned Winchester burial ground. According to Seraphina, these secrets held the potential to shift the balance of power in the supernatural world.

"This is something that both Heaven and Hell are seeking, right?" asks John, taking a drag of his cigarette, puffing smoke directly in the face of the immaterial spirit standing in front of him. "How does a lowly ghost such as yourself get to this kind of information?"

"By being an occult detective in the land of the living," he said, trying to sell an amicable facade to John, who is always one step ahead of the supernatural.

"Right, it checks out," says Constantine, stretching his arms out and smiling at the friendly being in front of him. "I'll release your shackles."

Enticed by this offering, Constantine followed her guidance, making his way to the burial ground. His trench coat flapped against his legs as he followed the winding path between aged, moss-covered tombstones, his hand resting on the handle of his ever-dependable silver lighter. Whatever sanctity this place might once have held was sucked away by the overwhelming scent of desolation and doom. The night air was still, heavy with a malice that clung to the dirt and the tombstones, wreathing it in an unsettling silence.

Led deep into the heart of the graveyard, Constantine found himself squaring off against a massive crypt. He could feel an undeniable sense of power immensely emanating from within it. Taking a moment to light his ever-present cigarette, his sharp blue eyes scanned the cobwebs and the moss-ridden names, braced for the inevitable.

As Constantine muttered an ancient incantation to release Seraphina, he felt a sudden surge of power that threw him off balance. The ground trembled beneath him, and the once still air was filled with the roar of a vengeful beast.

As soon as he started chanting, a black car pulls into the area, engine purring loudly as it comes to a halt.

"Fuckin' hell, that's an old make," says Constantine, his latin mumbling cut short by the unmistakable sounds of an old car door opening up.

"Sammy, looks like somebody beat us to the punch," says an angry Dean, immediately reaching for the handgun on his seat.

"Hold on Dean, let's ask around what he knows first. He could be a hunter," says Sam, walking slowly towards the fashionable alcoholic standing in front of them.

"I don't hunt, I exorcise. I was told this was going to be a job where if I finish it, I would get knowledge that the big hitters lack."

"Same thing they told us," says Dean, gripping his gun tighter. Unfortunately, he realized only now that the gun wasn't for John, it was for whatever lured the three cunning characters here. "Sammy, this is a trap, grab our weapons," Dean yells out.

"Looks like we agree on that," says John, lighting another cigarette.

Surrounded by a blinding flash of light and an echo of maniacal laughter, they realized their folly. Seraphina wasn't an innocent spirit but a cunning demonic entity that had cleverly lured them into her trap.

Turning bemusedly towards the crypt, the facade of innocent Seraphina shattered, revealing her true form. This was not the helpless spirit they had expected but a towering incubus hungrily eyeing its prey. Her offer was nothing but a ruse, a cleverly crafted lie to trick him into freeing her.

"Bugger," Constantine muttered, running a hand through his short blond hair and soothed his escalating frustration with a puff from his cigarette.

Pointing their guns at the incubus, Sam and Dean start unloading their bullets at the towering incubus in front of them, but unfortunately for them the guns meant for supernatural entities were in the trunk of the car.

"Oh come on, we need heavier artillery than that," John says as he turns to the brothers behind him.

"We know, but they're not within reach at the moment," says Sam, continuing his slow unloading as he walks back to the trunk.

Nodding at the brothers, John realizes that he will need to serve as a distraction while they reach for whatever they have.

"Thought you could pull a fast one on ol' Johnny, didn't you?" He smirked, flicking ash onto the ground.

He was John Constantine. Deception, demons, and the dark arts were the bread and butter of his existence. He had fallen into her rouse, true, but he wasn't beaten yet.

The corners of his mouth twitched upwards in a wry smile as he rolled his shirtsleeves and stepped closer to the monstrous hellion. "Alright love, let's dance."

With a twinkle in his stormy eyes and a smirk playing upon his lips, Constantine prepared to confront the demonic entity that had dared to trick him. His naivety might have been exploited, but his proficiency in the mystic arts was something not to be trifled with.

Drawing a sigil in the air, he began the mammoth task of sealing the demon back into her crypt, his actions echoing the words he had always lived by - "Demons'll lie to ruin your day, but an exorcist always has his way."

John wants to seal the demon, the brothers want to kill it.

Good matchup.

I was looking through the horror database a few days ago to think of some Halloween themed fights and discovered about half of the horror database is Supernatural characters, heh. I probably should find a way to finally check it out.

But I still have faith in old John.
