Can the master criminal ensnare the detective in an elaborate deathtrap? Given Hannibal's intelligence and amazing ability to manipulate people, undoubtedly yes.

Can the detective figure out how to escape?  Well, considering that the Death Trap probably ends with him being eaten by the master criminal, he'd best hope so.

From what I understand about Judge Dee, he should be able to get out of any trap by Hannibal, especially because I think we're meant to assume there is a way out of the trap. He's physically about to get out of any trap Lecter would be able to set

I mean, he could make a trap, but given the resources at hand I don't think they'd trouble Judge Dee at all. He's physically superior to Hannibal, and any one normal human to the point where, as I had mentioned earlier, simply jumping upwards could get him out of any one trap that a normal human could come up with.

To be fair, the scenario does not say the trap has to be a physical creation.  It could be a psychological trap involving choices to be made.
