I think Lex Luthor is fairly adept at this sort of thing. Columba, I’ve always understood, is more of a cerebral detective than someone who is nimble and action-oriented so I think Lex has an advantage.

"Oh, Lex? One more thing. Do you seem to have me in some sort of death trap?"

I like Columbo quite a bit, but unfortunately Lex wins here. Columbo isn't one to escape death traps like Batman or anything, he's a relatively normal dude. I mean, he's very smart, but his skills aren't really useful in this matchup

It really depends on what the death-trap is, which is undefined.

That said, the Death-Trap has to offer escape.  We have to assume it plays to the Detective's strengths.  So, the escape mechanism is going to be solvable by Columbo.

As he is a more cerebral detective, it's going to be something he has a chance at.

He would definitely have a chance at it if it's tailored for him, but Lex Luthor's intelligence feats put him on a level above Columbo's most impressive. Comes with living in a world where interstellar travel is not only plausible, but frequent.
