WAR!!!

While the Jedi and the Clone army of the Republic fight against the Separatist threat throughout the entire galaxy, there’s a plot that threatens to change the very existence of space and time. Sith Lord, Count Dooku has obtain the location of a Jedi scroll that was long thought to have been lost in the past. As war continues to ravage through the star systems, his new agenda has just begun!

“Old ways won’t open new doors…”

Several years before the death of Jedi Master Qui Gon Jinn…

On a lush green planet in the outer rim, two Jedi had approached what appeared to be a massive tree that stood as high as a mountain. Throughout time, this tree has seen much but sadly time has forgot this place. The two Jedi; Master Dooku and his apprentice Qui Gon Jinn gazed upon the tree with much respect. They could feel that this tree held many secrets through its life and had seen the lives of many past Jedi. Both master and apprentice closed their eyes and raised their hands in unisons. As the force started to transfer from the two Jedi to the ancient tree, a passageway had started to open at the base of the tree.

The two Jedi glanced at each other and proceeded inside what was once a temple for ancient Jedi. The presence of the Force within this temple was strong, for this was a living temple. A smile of admiration formed across the young Jinn’s face as he could feel the Force moving within this living thing. Every branch gave off a light and everything seemed as if were peaceful. This living temple was ground very much in the light side of the Force. Master Dooku gazed upon an old scroll that had a language that even Dooku did not understand. He picked up this ancient Jedi scroll and tucked it away under his robes. The two Jedi continued to venture throughout this temple and discovered several histories of the Jedi long thought to have been forgotten in time.

20 BBY

Decades have come and gone since the day in that once living Jedi temple. In the decades since, the living temple had been destroyed by wars and the apprentice of Dooku had met his end in a duel with a Sith assassin.  Dooku stood in his chambers, meditating on everything that was taking place in this war. He had spent decades trying to decipher this ancient text and now he waited patiently for a protocol droid to finish deciphering the text. “DONE!” the droid said and immediately Dooku opened his eyes. The droid had given Dooku the information that was on this text and immediately he felt a sense of intrigue. The text led to a location for what appeared to be a library that the ancient Jedi had used.

He commanded that his ship be prepared as he started walking through the corridors. As he got into his ship, he received a transmission from General Grevious. Dooku was quick to inform him that he will be out of communication as he has a personal mission that he will be overseeing personally. As the transmission cut out, a thought went through Dooku’s mind. This mission of his will need to be kept secret, even from his own Master. He ordered for the protocol droid that deciphered the text to have its memory completely erased.

Dooku sat in his ship, as his droid pilot prepared to take off into the far reaches of the outer rim. He closed his eyes and once again started to meditate on what this library could mean for the rest of the war. As the ship went into hyperspace, a small smirk went across his face as he knew that what he was about to uncover was going to change everything. The ancient Jedi had gone to great lengths to hide this library and all his mind could reflect on was what power could they have been so desperate to hide.

As they approached this planet, the ship started to break through the atmosphere. The ship landed near the coordinates that were deciphered. Darkness had covered the land as three moons rotated around the planet. As the ship doors open, several battle droids made their way onto the planet’s surface. Dooku could sense that there was something coming. Breaking through the trees were a pack of vicious creatures and immediately the droids started to fire upon them. Dooku walked past the droids and raised up his right hand. Lightning spewed from out of his hand and onto one of the creatures.

The blasting had stopped as the rest of the creatures scattered into the night. Dooku sauntered over to the creature that he had just killed and watched as smoke was dripping coming off the creature. Dooku could sense that the library was close. The droids circled around him as the Force had led him to an oddly shaped stone. Dooku waved his right hand through the night sky and the rock started to create an opening. He commanded for his droids to proceed forward.

As they made their way through, numerous traps were set off that destroyed nearly every droid that accompanied the Sith Lord. “Simple pawns.” Dooku said under his breath as he finally walked into the library. He could sense that the Force was strong in this room and nearly all the scrolls had been emptied out. In the corner of his eye, he saw it. The last remaining scroll that he had been searching for. He made his way to his and lifted his hand. The Force carried the scroll to his hand as the last trap had been activated. Dooku had pushed the remaining droids into the path of destruction as he made his way out of this library. He gazed over the words and relief overtook him as he started looking over his prize.

He made his way into the ship and had his personal protocol droid translate the words for him. The scroll spoke of a relic that was created by the Force and worshiped by those that were practitioners of the Force but were neither Jedi nor Sith. There was a name to this relic, the Convergence. It was said to have been in a temple on the planet Hoth and contain an unspeakable power. As the droid continued to translate the scroll, Dooku was getting a transmission from his Master, Darth Sidious. Dooku collected himself as he opened the transmission. The holographic image of a cloaked figure presented itself before the Sith lord.

“Greetings, my apprentice. What news do you have for me?” Sidious asked with a frightening voice.

“Nothing new, Master Sidious.” Dooku replied as he cleared his mind of his current objective.

“It would not be wise to keep any secrets from your Master.” Sidious said as he glared at Dooku.

“I assure you, Master that my allegiance is to you and the Sith.” Dooku responded with a small smile on his good.

“Good. You will meet me at my quarters, we discuss our next moves in this war.” Sidious commanded as the transmission faded out.

A small feeling of frustration swept through Dooku as he desired to see his own journey through but a plan started forming in the former Jedi Master’s head. One of Dooku’s pilot droids stood before him and asked if he should set coordinates for Coruscant. “Not yet.” Dooku responded with a smirk as his plan started to form. “First I have to meet with someone at the Black Spire on Batuu. “Very well, sir.” The pilot droid responded as it went into the ship’s cockpit. Dooku sat back and looked over the scroll to see if there was anymore answers regarding this ancient relic.

Dooku’s ship broke through the atmosphere of Batuu and came to a safe landing outside of Black Spire Outpost. He saw some Clones patrolling the area and he quickly put a hood over his head as he did not want to draw any attention to himself. As he made his way through the crowds, he could sense the presence of the one that he was searching for. He broke through crowds of different species and saw Oga’s Cantina in the distance. After making his way inside, Dooku did the best he could to ignore music as he walked toward the one that he was searching for. Laying back in a chair and enjoying a drink was the infamous bounty hunter Cad Bane. Dooku stood in front of the bounty hunter and a smile quickly formed across hunter’s face.

“Well well well… Look at what we have here. Would you care for a drink?” Cad Bane said sarcastically as he took a sip from his drink.

“No. I am here for your services.”  Dooku responded coldly as he gazed upon the bounty hunter.

“Well it won’t come cheap!” Cad Bane said with a slight smile. “As you are aware of my previous job for your Sith friend, my services have… well let’s just say increased significantly along with my reputation!”

“I am aware of your job in the Jedi temple. Not an easy feat but I am willing to pay for your expertise. I have a job on the planet Hoth. There is a hidden temple that has an artifact and I need you to retrieve it for me.” Dooku responded as he glared into the bounty hunter’s eyes.

“Hoth? That’s ah colder planet. Dangerous elements, not very pleasant wildlife, and if I am not mistake there is a Republic base on that planet. My rates may increase because of that and I will need a freighter with lightspeed capabilities and snowspeeder.” The bounty hunter responded as he leaned closer to the Sith lord.

“I will make the arrangements.” Dooku replied as he started to hand Cad Bane the data pad that contained the location of the hidden temple on Hoth.

“Pleasure doing business with you.” Bane said smiling as the Sith disappeared into the crowd. The bounty hunter finished off his drink in one swig as gathered his thoughts. He glanced down to see his newly built techno service droid that had the memory banks of his former droid, Todo 360. “Time to go, Todo!” the bounty hunter commanded as he started making his way through Black Spires outpost.

“But we just got here, Bane!” Todo said as he looked up at his master.

“Can it, Todo! You do as I say!” Cad ordered as he glared down at the droid.

“As you wish, Bane.” Todo responded as his head shook.

The infamous bounty and his techno-service droid started their journey off Batuu and made their way to the destination of the freighter. Cad Bane studied the freighter and looked throughout the compartments. “Dooku did not disappoint…” The bounty hunter said under his breath as he gazed upon the snow speeder. The bounty hunter took out both of his LL-30 blaster pistols and made sure they were ready for what was to come. The bounty hunter found a flat surface to lay down his bag and he searched through his equipment. The bounty hunter also had his gauntlets that contained a flamethrower and stunner. A smile formed across the bounty hunter’s face as he pulled out 4 thermal detonators. “Ready the ship, Todo! I have everything that I need!”

Hoth

Republic Base

Standing outside the Republic base stood the Clone Commander that oversaw this base. Clone Commander Frost stood with customized armor that he worked on specifically for this icy terrain. The Commander watched the skies and waited patiently for his next batch of rookies. He watched as a Republic ship came past the atmosphere. Several new clones jumped out of the ship, all of them with shiny white armor. “Pitiful…” the Commander said under his breath as he new this was just another batch of young clones that have never seen a battle in their short lives. The young rookies stood at attention before their new Commander. Commander Frost started walking toward them as the crunching snow echoed beneath him. The rookies; Clouds, Giggles, Trapper, Mouse, and Butterfingers stood quietly for a moment. Suddenly, Giggles broke out laughing as Commander Frost passed by him.

“Something funny, rookie!” Commander Frost roared as he gazed upon the young clone.

“Sir, no sir!” Giggles responded as he tried to hold back his laughter.

“Get inside and await my briefing!” Commander Frost yelled as he shook his head in disgust.

The young clones made their way into the base and all of them could not help but look upon their different brothers performing the tasks that they had before them. The young clones took off their helmets and started talking amongst themselves. Trapper and Giggles discussed how they got one of the worst assignments in all the Clone Army and Mouse could not help but agree boring and cold this planet would be. As the young rookies continued to talk amongst themselves. They did not realize Commander Frost standing behind them.

“ATTENTION ROOKIES!” Commander Frost roared as he spun around them. The young clones quickly caught their composure and stood in complete silence before the Commander. “You think this place is easy… You all are nothing more than cadets in shiny armor. This planet is a frozen hell! One mistake; you, your shiny new armor, and the soldiers will die! DO YOU UNDERSTAND?!” Commander Frost screamed.

“SIR, YES SIR!” The rookies responded in unity.

“This place is nothing that you have ever trained for. The terrain itself is a danger that can kill in an instant.” Commander Frost said as he circled around the clone rookies. A small giggle let out from one of the young clones and bitter rage overtook the Commander as he knocked Giggles down onto the down. “You still think this is funny?” Frost asked viciously as he looked down at Giggles.

Giggles swallowed his laughed and quickly realized that one of Frost’s legs were robotic. He looked up at the Commander in shock as he tried to find the right words to say. “No sir!” the young clone responded as he jumped off the ground and stood back with his fellow rookies.

“The land is not the only thing out there that will kill you! There are beasts out there! You won’t always see them until it is too late! These creatures, these monsters were born on this frozen hell hole! They were born here and make no mistake; they will rip you apart! Limb by limb! If you are lucky enough to survive, you may end up with a scar and a missing leg!” Frost said as he took off his customized helmet.

The young clones finally saw their Commander’s face and realized that there was more to this Commander than they originally believed. His face was covered in scars and one of his eyes were pale white. A look of horror overtook the young clones as each one started to realize that this planet was not going to be an uneventful post.

“Get out of my sight!” Frost ordered as he went to meet with one of his lieutenants.

The young clones wandered off as Frost watched over a screen that Lieutenant Bronze had asked him to see. “Nothing is showing up on the radar but there is clearly a ship in that sector.” Bronze said as he pointed at the screen. Commander Frost took a step back and rubbed his face as he knew that sector was crawling with the beasts of this frozen planet. “I’ll break new rookies in myself.” The commander said as he left the lieutenant there with what they had just found. He found the young clones and ordered each one of them to get ready to escort him out on a patrol.

The skies were clear and there was no indication of a storm coming. Commander Frost and the young clones under his commander were approaching the sector that the ship was spotted. “Commander, there is smoke over there in the east!” Mouse yelled as he pointed. Commander Frost gathered the young clones and followed the smoke. Each one of them saw what appeared to be a small freighter up ahead. Frost commanded for them to get in a battle formation as he approached the ship.

“Oh my, we have guests!” Todo yelled out with enthusiasm.

“What are you doing on this planet?” Frost asked as he pointed his rifle down as the techno-service droid.

“Well I… we… uhhh. Bane?” Todo responded in a panic.

Suddenly, shots rang out as one of the young clone troopers fell to the ground. Frost jumped for cover and saw that Trapper killed by blaster fire.  An explosion rang out and the bodies of Clouds and Mouse were engulfed in flames. Giggles yelled out that he saw the attached close to what appear to be a cave entrance that was once covered in ice. The frozen land around the entrance of this hidden had been blown open. Frost, Giggles, and Butterfingers were able to lay down fire upon the attacker as the attacker had disappeared into the cave.

“What now, sir?” Giggles asked as he looked over his fallen brothers.

“We find this man and kill him!” Frost ordered as he started approaching the cave entrance.

Todo was able to disappear into the freighter as the clones followed Cad Bane into the cave. The further they went, the darker it became. There was something different about this cave then anything the clones had ever experience before. As they went deeper, there was a chill in the air that was unlike anything they had ever felt before. They heard a faint whistling noise up ahead and there were red and blue lights that started to form what appeared to be some sort of temple that was partly fused with ice.

“You all should turn around.” A voice said from behind the clones. Each one of them spun around and trained their blasters on their attacker. Cad Bane stood with his blasters aiming right back at them. “I had no quarrel with any of you.” Cad Bane as he glared upon the clones.

“You attacked us!” Frost yelled stared right back at the bounty hunter.

“You interrupted me!” Bane replied with a smirk on his face. “I have business that I am attending to and I really don’t like being interrupted!”

The three clones and the bounty hunter stood with their weapons drawn at one another. The whistling continued to echo throughout the cave and the abnormal lights from the temple started getting dim. Giggles let out a small laugh as he thought that they had outnumbered the bounty hunter until a powerful noise overcame the whistling sound. From shadows of the cave, emerged a creature that had taken Giggles from behind. Frost and Butterfingers turned their attention to the screaming Giggles as he was ripped apart. Butterfingers tried to lift his rifle to fire upon the beast but in ensuing frenzy, he dropped his blaster onto the ground. The Wampa that had just ripped apart brother and friend, had then turned its attention to the young clone. The beast made quick work of the young clone and dragged him off into the darkness. Cad Bane had retreated into the temple and Frost had no choice but to follow the bounty hunter. He tried attacking the bounty hunter and even damaged his gauntlets. Cad was far too skilled and quickly subdued Frost.

“Now now now, Commander… No sense on crying over spilt Bantha milk.” Bane said with a smirk. The hunter then pointed at the Clone Commander, “If you want to survive, then we will have to work together.”

“You’re garbage!” Frost responded as he tried reaching for one of his blaster pistols.

Cad Bane kicked the Clone Commander back into the darkness of the temple. The Commander got to his feet and had the blaster at his side. As Frost was collecting himself to face off against the bounty hunter, the same beast broke through the darkness and knocked the Clone Commander unconscious against one of the corridor walls.

Cad Bane took a couple steps back as he saw the clear view of the Wampa before him. He knew that being inside the temple, he could not just fly away, and he was out of thermal detonators. With his wrist gauntlets damages, the bounty hunter took out his blaster pistols and was prepared to fight for survival.

The battle is inside an underground temple on Hoth

Cad Bane is armed with his two LL-30 blaster pistols. His wrist gaunlets have been damaged and being inside the temple, he does not have a whole lot of room to fly away with his rocket boots.

The Wampa is blood thirsty and has just taken out a small group of clones.

Fantastic setup! Good storyline, and you definitely captured the spirit of the Clone Wars show! I felt you sort of skimped on a few details, and you had a few typos (don't we all?) But this is great overall! Even gave us some shinies to like that only get brutally killed later, like the show. :D

I'm going with Bane here, though he'll likely not be unscathed.

Thank you, Mercenaryblade! I'm sorry for the typos and grammatical errors!

I had a lot more details planned but I felt like I was getting a tad bit long winded. I wanted to set up for potential future set up that I may have planned, but I dony know yet.

I hope everyone enjoys!

Congrats on your marriage! Too bad you won't be able to participate in the tourney, but RL happiness is always a good thing.

Another great match from you, though the grammar, etc. mistakes keep me from giving this five stars. As for the match, I have a feeling Cad Bane should be able to win here. If Luke Skywalker can lop off a Wampa's arm with a lightsaber, Bane should at least be able to keep one at bay with his blasters.

Sorry about the grammar! I meant to go back and proof read but with work and whatnot, I let the excitement of writing another story get in my way of just putting it up too soon

Hey practice makes perfect, right?

Really nice to see a straight Star Wars story. It really does feel like it's an episode of the Clone Wars.

And as others have said, I think Bane has this pretty handedly.

That it does! Its been a minute since I've really written a set up so a bit rusty.

Thanks! I was definitely going for Clone War vibes with the potential to leading to something more
