Wow, easy pull for Poseidon. I don't think there is anything about Quetzalcoatl that a pirate would worship.

Most pirates would definitely want to be on Poseidon's good side, even though Quetzalcoatl is the god of Wind and Air. At some point, being as exposed as you are on sea, you wouldn't want to be on the bad side of Poseidon and he can make sure to lead you to where you need to be even with bad wind currents coming from the god you turned down.
