Website domain change and maintenance - March 16th

Hi Everyone

The website needs maintenance which will be occurring March 16-17.

Why are we doing this?

The current servers are End Of Life and cannot be updated with new versions of software needed to run the site going into the future.

 

What you need to know:

The domain name will change to www.comicbookuniversebattles.com

If you use a password manager it's not going to know the new site.  Use your current magneticferret credentials. Make sure you know what your credentials are.

After the update, magneticferret.com will be a redirect to https://www.comicbookuniversebattles.com/

Logging in will change from User Name to your registered email address

This is a security update with the new version of Invision.  Make sure that you know what email address your account is registered with!

If you have lost access to that email address, change it now!

The website will be offline and there could be technical issues

Typical in a move of this magnitude.

 

What will be different?

Besides the new domain name and login change, not a whole lot at first.  But it puts the website on newer technology where updates can be made that cannot be made now.

Will character records be left in tact?

I remember around the 2010s, there was a server migration and many characters have had their records omitted of many matches they participated in.

Yes, everything should be left intact.

Here is a couple things to help with the move.

 

Most password managers including most browsers will allow you to see your login information including passwords. 

If you don't know your registered email address, it shows up on your profile. While you are logged in. If you don't have access to that email, change it to a new email address before we move domains.
