I almost feel like Ed and Lorraine would have a better chance of dealing with Sam than with the Thing. Sam almost appeared to be a demonic representation of Halloween, but the Thing is something that cannot be exorcised. It can the different forms and blend in fairly easily too

Correct, they should be more suited with something strictly supernatural when compared to the more alien Thing.

Yeah, the best way to beat the Thing in this category is probably if you can outspeed it, because it's speed is arguably the most exploitable weakness in this kind of matchup. However, Sam is much slower than what is needed

No offense to Sam, but he didn’t really kill anyone himself during his movie did he? The Thing is one of my favorite movie monsters so it’ll be hard for me to go against it.
