  1. Heehee Donnie's a softie, but he knows what to do to get the win and how to effectively provide a win for his team as well. People shouldn't underestimate him, similar to Mikey, but often some do. His use of the smoke pellet, roomba, and staff was a great move, and I'm glad you used it, as it shows how Donnie is a fighter capable of both strategizing and innovating his techniques based on equipment, strategy and experience. The fight shown here was well balanced, and presented a good narrative for how the Turtles can win against these Street Fighter upper echelon opponents. A lot of people seem to think that they are far more impressive than they actually are because of the accomplishments they have, but I think the Turtles do stand a great chance of winning here as the experiences they have had, have improved them by leaps and bounds, and I think that will be enough for them to win the rest of their matches here.

Ken is a tough opponent, but I think that Mikey can win this one if he works to take advantage of the openings that Ken provides when he goes in close for his quick-hit combos, as his need to stay up close and personal leaves him vulnerable to counters and counterattacks viable in taking him down. Ken is also, all about timing in his attacks, and if Mikey can work to interrupt or interfere with that aspect of his fighting style, then he could exploit that and do some real damage against his opponent. Mike is quick, but he is also tactical, and I think that in being so, Mike could potentially turn the tide in a way Raphael could not. Raph was an offensive-speed based fighter, while Mike is speed-strategy based, and I think that difference in my opinion will lead to a different fight and different results when paired with Ken by comparison.

  2. Great write up man, it shows well how Mikey isn't just the class clown that people assume him to be, but a very legitimate fighter all his own. I like how he stuck to his guns and pressed the offensive, demonstrating his competency and his capabilities as a martial artist, while presenting himself as someone to truly take seriously. The real Mikey, is like how he was in the "Last Ronin", and in spite of his comedic facade, it is a shame that most people don't or can't see that about him. I see what you mean too, in that people are perhaps considering the 1987 cartoon depiction of Michelangelo a bit too much, when thinking of Mikey in general, and that is a shame, as there is more to appreciate about him as a character, but your recap does work well in depicted his approach to battle in a way that is effective and respectful of who Mikey is as a martial artist and character, and in regards to that, I say that you certainly have done a great job.

I think Donatello has a fairly good chance here actually. While Chun-Li is a very aggressive and quick fighter, Donnie's a very resourceful and skilled defensive fighter in his own right. I can see Donnie taking advantage of that and blocking much of her offensive movements with his staff and body, while utilizing his equipment at times to create openings, smoke bomb-roomba combo for example, combined with offensives made when Chun-Li is distracted might work well in providing the opening for some extra hits, ontop of the electric currents ability to do damage when Li gets too close. Utilizing these elements, in addition to his skills, Donnie will certainly put up a decent fight, and based on his experience, I can see him winning here.

Yeah, that was something which I wanted to get across in the recap-- a sense of intensity and uncertainty which... actually was something elemental even in terms of the votes when it came to Leonardo's match against Geese. And with a one point difference, the fight was EXTREMELY close. While there is a power gap between Leonardo and Geese, the favor being of the latter, I would think that Leonardo would've made up for it in intensity, perseverance and skill. After all, out of all the Turtles, even in the Mirage continuity, he alone was able to stand up to Oroku Saki in the first meeting, and even soundly and rather, with high difficulty, even defeat the Shredder where as the rest of his brothers were unable to. So that should speak volumes about Leonardo's level of skill, even if we look at strictly canon.

As far as this match is concerned... I can say that I am rather disappointed with the lack of interactivity and commentary over the last few days. It took me a LONG time to write up this match and to try and get back into the groove of things. Don't get me wrong, I get that people can't always be here to read but... five or so days is enough to get SOMETHING and I know people are more focused on the tournament, so that kind of takes the fun out of doing this, you know?

You breakdown is pretty sound, and hopefully people will keep in mind of Raphael's level of skill and tenacity against someone like Ken Masters. Even in terms of this storyline, Raphael's fought people who were even stronger and more powerful than Ken, specifically in reference to Terry Bogard and I was hoping that people would keep that in mind and then being forced to think really hard on how this match would go. After all, the Turtles experience does come to play here and even if we look at canon, all of the Turtles, even Raphael have fought opponents that even Ken would be flabbergasted to know that they exist (the Triceratons, Bloodsucker, Cronus, and the mythological figures in the Hall of Lost Legends). Some food for thought.

    Thanks for commenting.

I feel you on the lack of commentary too, it is difficult. On my end, I've been slammed with work and school, but was able to squeeze just enough time to get a good read in finally. Lol. That being said, I do apologize that it took me some time to get around to doing so, as this was certainly a treat to read for me. Again, it was intense, and it was pretty well written, as I can see that you're incorporating much of the thematic material that TMNT has beneath the surface to great effect in your writing.

I hope you don't get discouraged from proceeding in your writing endeavors, whether it be for this arc or other matches in the future, as you have a great talent, and a passion for your work, that you should definitely continue to pursue in spite of the difficulties. Comments and interaction are very nice things, but there is a level of fulfillment in producing a work that really is more internally beneficial in my opinion anyway.

Honestly, just stick to your guns, and don't let circumstances prevent you from doing things that you enjoy and fill achievement in doing.

  4. Intense fight, you can feel Leo's struggle as he is facing off with Geese on the roof here. The impacts of each hit are pretty incredible to be honest, and I even felt at points that Leo would be done for, but you wrote it in such a way that even when things looked bleak for Leo, he still found a way to win. The bonds of his relationship with his brothers are key, and even as he learned from his mistakes, I think the real fight you wrote, was one in which Geese tested all of them to see how strong they all were together, while only fighting Leonardo, great job man!

Ken will be a very difficult opponent to face off against, and I have no doubt that Raphael will struggle quite a bit to win against such a foe. Ken is fast, he is strong, and he is very powerful with his energy attacks, second only to Ryu himself in terms of a similar type of playing field. What he is also, however is more controlled than the likes of Akuma, and in that I think Raphael will have a decent advantage. It will take some time, and I don't think that Raph will get out of this one without sustaining some major damage, but if he can find a way to coordinate his evasion techniques and capitalize on the openings that Ken creates when using said techniques, I believe that Raphael can prevail here.

  5. While Broly does a lot of raw power to wield against Gohan, Gohan is at this point, the better trained fighter. Having trained under Piccolo, Krillin, Goku, Old Kai, and others, Gohan certainly developed fighting skills but tends to lack in fighting experience due to his procrastination and lack of focus. That being said, he should still stand a chance here, as his Beast power up should even the playing field, and should potentially give him the advantage of Broly here.

I was debating doing just the next three or next six.

I don't know anything about Nahuaquez but unless he's above average in abilities team 1 wins. Shaheen can probably hand with any of team 1 but I don't see him beating Victor and probably not Reina either. Icebuerg is a run of the mill GI Joe bad ass so he can contribute as long as he stays in his skill set and not try to be a brawler.

I was having the same debate.

I don't know how powerful Nahuaquez is either, but Iceberg might come in clutch for his team if he just stands back and shoots

Nahuaquez is actually, pretty powerful, he's an Aztec dream deity capable of physically overpowering Freddy Krueger.

Looking up the Amani, it's kinda funny that they're being matched up against Stormtroopers. :D

The Amani would definitely stand more of a physical chance against the Yautja, would they also be bigger targets?

Bigger targets perhaps, but not as easily dispatched ones either for a few different reasons.

Among them, their biological organs are spread throughout their bodies and come in sets of more than one, making it harder to shoot them through the heart.

Additionally, while they walk fairly slowly, they are able to curl up into a ball, and roll past on foot opponents, going 50 Kilometers per hour across flat terrain, not an easy factor to weigh against.

Finally, they have a poisonous slime that secrets from their skin, one that will force most individuals to avoid going hand to hand with them out of fear of being infected, another decent point in their favor.

  8. Depends really, among Indian viewers Samri should be fairly popular enough, as many at the time tend to view Purana Mandir and Samri, himself, as iconic to them as The Exorcist is to us here in the States.

For Westerners, this wouldn't really apply, however, Samri does have another look, one more wrought to decay than most would expect, but a fairly impressive one for general Horror audiences. Would it beat out the Grinch's look? Hard to say, but for my money anyone that can mimic the facial features of Samri's actor, Anirudh Agarwal, would get a lot of points from me in terms of effort and ability.

Well, from a glance at both A.I.s' profiles, it looks to me like SHODAN may be the more creative of the two, so I guess she might make a more creative match.

SHODAN is a tad more creative, but I would think Helios could write a pretty good match himself, as he is well versed in literature and is connected to the Internet's resources himself.

Will that match be better than SHODAN's will depend on who is reading it, but the AI is philosophical in his speech so, it is possible he could "write" something pretty creative as a result.

  10. Honestly, I still like RBM's chances over Mr. Clean's here.

I think that while Mr. Clean could make Silent Hill look cleaner, and potentially remove and or cover up the grime of the town, it would be in many ways superficial such as what happened with Camp Crystal Lake becoming Forest Green in Friday the 13th.

I don't see him being able to rid the town of its problems or eliminate all of the monsters, so in essence Clean would only be laying a tarp over it all, like the Forest Green people did, and hoping for the best.

RBM, while in the same boat, is still arguably more helpful in my opinion, as the guy could potentially bring supplies needed to live in Silent Hill, if he were to switch to bringing other types of needed supplies.

He does also seem to know Santa Claus for some reason too, so maybe he can call in a few favors, heh.

  11. Donnie put in some good work here, and while Skullomania did surprise him at certain points, it is good to see him find a way to come out on top in spite of his interpreted shortcomings.

The guy really is more than just an egg-head, even if many versions of the TMNT portray him that way.

Throwing the staff too, was a good touch, and not one I considered him doing, but is a very smart one tactically, especially given the nature of the circumstances he was fighting against.

Reminds me of Goku taking out Recoome, in that Donnie realized the potential danger he was in and proceeded to take out the threat quickly before it got any worse.

Staff to staff, this is going to be a hard match for Donnie, in spite of his own staff's upgrades.

In close quarters too, he won't really given any particular advantages here, and the city rooftop will even add to his potential problems, as he can't stray too far, or else he risks falling off the roof.

The fight here will have to depend on whether or not he can pin Billy Kane at that range, purely based on skill and movement as opposed to anything else.

In my opinion the best strategy here, is to try his best to force Billy to move around a lot more, relinquishing his defensive posture from the front and back, as Donnie concentrates on wherever the staff isn't at the time, and pounds it in with swift and powerful offensive strikes.

  12. To play Devil's advocate, Mr. Clean was based on a Navy Sailor, and while we don't know to any extent what rank or training said sailor had, I would believe that in one sense, a Navy sailor would be more organized and trained than the Kool Aid Man in terms of disaster recovery and the like.

That being said, both would have to overcome their impulses in order to win this challenge at all.

  13. Okay, so Wintergreen is a Wolverine like type of character, but that doesn't mean he can't spread joy either.

The man is connected to Elfa Squad, and has the capability through that to get from the North Pole to the Kids Next Door Treehouse relatively quickly, even transporting the Treehouse to New York somehow with seemingly little effort, interesting aspects to consider in terms of the range he could have in spreading his influence.

Charismatically, Wintergreen is kind of a brick for personality, but he has access to Santa's supplies, and has been around him, his workshop, and the other

elves long enough, that I think some of their pleasantness could have rubbed off on him indirectly enough, that he could utilize that in a way to actually spread joy in his travels.

The Crypt Keeper will be a challenging source of competition, but with access to the things Wintergreen has available, I can see him scraping up slightly more influence than the Crypt Keeper could simply based on how effectively he can get from point A to point B.

  14. Poor Fezziwig, Samri is a true psychopath, unlike Scrooge whose heart has simply grown cold over the years.

All Samri cares about is absorbing people's lifeforce to gain more power, terrorizing the locals of Bijapur, and getting revenge on the Raja's family for beheading him.

None of which Fezziwig could really change, as throwing a good party or two won't change a man who devours souls for fun, from devouring said souls for fun.

  15. Wow Leo really took the wind out of her sails, it is almost surprising how effectively he put her down when he got serious. Blair did give the Turtle some difficulty though,  so it really isn't too surprising as to why he had to take her down so quickly. Slamming him down on his plastron had to hurt quite a bit, and likely would have forced Leo to face the impact his opponents faced on his own body, not a good feeling to say the least.

All in all though, very well written Rakai, and as always I appreciate your attention to detail and ability to maintain all these characters personalities and traits, utilizing them at just the right moments in their interactions it's shows your growing skills as a writer Rak.

Donnie is going to have trouble with Skullomania in some ways, as his aerial attacks, double axe handles and chest based jabs will make him a tricky one to counter from certain perspectives. Donnie does appear to be a master of Defense in certain ways however, and that can work to his advantage in defending himself against Skullomania's over the head techniques, while he awaits the moment in which he can strike back. In my opinion, Skullomania's personality in particular, will lead to his downfall, as his showmanship and knack for flair, might keep him off guard long enough for Donatello to gain the upper hand as he keeps attempting to maintain his facade.

  16. This challenge is tricky for most to pull off, but I think that Zam has a good chance here.

She's no Wily Coyote by far, as she has far more patience and composure than he manages to have when using ACME products, and her ability to mimic other people's appearances supersedes the Wolf's comically impractical means of doing so via his disguises.

Zam could set up the trap, and change form into Little Red or one of the Pigs for example, and play with the Wolf's mind, luring him in on the basis of revenge, before blindsiding him with trap(s) she set up before, and pinning him that way. Remember the Wolf has been beaten before by Red, the Pigs, and the Huntsman, so it wouldn't be impossible to see him losing here against a more intelligent opponent with access to impersonation abilities.

.............who? No really, who? I have no idea who that is, and to be honest, just off that name/brand recognition alone, I gotta bet on the good ole Cap'n.

Rubberband Man is a advertisement mascot for Office Max from 2004, who would dance around offices and other places, giving people whatever office supplies they needed in the moment to achieve a particular task.

There were a few other commercials out there of him, but here is one of them.

  18. Food for thought here, but after the recent disasters that have plagued the company, I think that Rubberband Man would be a pretty good choice of mascot to provide a distraction from the all of the noise and destruction the company provided beforehand. The Captain would be good at providing a distraction too, but I think RB would be better, as he tends to be more helpful and provides more of what people need than Crunch does.

Additionally, RB while eccentric is not nearly as gung-ho as the Captain can be in terms of how he presents himself, such as the manner of driving his ship through people's living room walls and the like. A quality that would benefit individuals who don't wish to be jump scared or have conditions like PTSD be flared up by the Captain's well meaning but over enthusiastic efforts.

  19. To play devil's advocate here, yes Whitey isn't as recognizable, per say as Blacula here, but I do think that to create his costume in terms of replication would be arguably more impressive.

Think about it this way, anyone could do a vampire costume pretty easily, even one like Blacula, but Whitey's appearance is pretty unique in and of its self.

For someone to pull it off, they would have to have the right height, facial formation, and plenty of white hair, all things that are determined purely by genetics.

Replicating that is difficult, but could be quite impressive from a perspective, as the effort alone would be very time consuming, food for thought anyway.

  20. Judy could try and hide from Zam for a week, but I feel like Zam will have the advantage here for a few different reasons.

The first being here, ASN-121, assassin droid, which she could utilize in a way that would allow her to track Judy's location and fox her out, no pun intended, wherever she would be intending to go. Tech like this, is certainly a bit more advanced than what is featured in Zootopia, and will grant Zam at least a slight advantage over Judy based on that alone.

Next, Zam at one utilized kouhuns, silent, venomous, arthropods, think centipedes and millipedes, in an attempt to kill Padme Amidala. Now while these creatures did fail in this attempt, they were able to evade R2-D2's sensors, and reach Padme in her bed, without audibly alerting the Jedi outside. Factors which make them useful here, as the kouhuns can potentially hunt down Judy, once Zam locates her, and attack without her hearing abilities allowing her to be alerted to their presence ahead of time.

Finally, Zam's abilities as a Clawdite come into play here as another factor in her win. Clawdites are natural changelings and can morph into almost anyone and anything they want or desire to, with some effort. Zam is especially proficient at this, as she is able to hold her morphed form even longer than most other Clawdites. Utilizing the prep-time she has, and perhaps, the background information she gathered about Judy ahead of time, she could transform into one of Judy's most trusted allies and catch her off guard as result, granting Zam the upperhand.

So, does the Leprechaun just have to "fail" at putting together the perfect Christmas and slowly have a meltdown as things go wrong around him? I think that's feasible.

That's part of it. Clark also seems to be an inventor or ideas man for the food preservatives industry, still confused on that.

Either way, the Leprechaun stands a much better chance of winning than Clark does here.

  22. Blade's not the type to have the patience required to use ACME traps, and while Pic could be considered animalistic in terms of his behavior, I don't think he will necessarily fall for any of the traps that Blade rigs up for him either, hence, Pic will likely win this one.
