The Will Wreath's primary pursuer of the two fugitives, The Will is one of the freelance bounty hunters hired by the Wreath High Command through the Brio Talent Agency to kill Marko and Alana, not only for Marko's betrayal, but also so that news of the coupling does not spread and threaten troop morale. Vez, the woman who hires him, also instructs him to bring back Hazel alive and unharmed to receive his full fee. The Will is accompanied by a Lying Cat, a large talking female feline that can detect lies. Vez says she hired The Will because he shares Marko's moral relativism. The Will's moral outlook is such that after telling a pimp on the sexually permissive planet Sextillion that the activity he has seen on Sextillion seems rather tame, and being presented by the pimp with a six-year-old sexual slave girl, The Will kills the pimp. He renames the slave girl Sophie, and she becomes his companion. The Will was once the lover of The Stalk, a female spider-like bounty hunter who is also assigned to Alana and Marko, until she is killed by Prince Robot IV, for which The Will vows revenge. After Marko's ex-fiancée Gwendolyn joins his hunt, The Will develops an attraction to her, even as he mourns The Stalk. His sister Sophie, who addresses him "Billy", and who introduced him to The Stalk, is another Freelancer who works under the name The Brand. In Volume Three, he decides to abandon his Freelancer life, but suffers a near fatal stab wound to his throat. Although he is brought to a hospital in time to save him, it is said that he will likely never fully recover from the trauma. After Gwendolyn, Sophie, and the Brand go on a quest to procure an elixir to heal his injuries, The Will recovers, but when he hears that his sister was killed during their quest, the grief-stricken Freelancer is so outraged that he excoriates his two benefactors and banishes them from his bedside. Lying Cat Lying Cat is a large, female talking feline companion to The Will who aids him in his work. Green in color with yellow stripes, she has the ability to detect when a verbal statement is a lie, which she indicates by saying, "Lying". Her power is limited to the state of the mind of the person speaking: She can detect deliberate deception, but cannot detect a falsehood if a given statement is believed to be true by the speaker. According to Izabel, Lying Cats always play by the rules, an allusion to the fact that a Lying Cat must also admit ethical truths as well as factual ones. When Gwendolyn, who becomes Lying Cat's ally, accidentally kills a man, Izabel says that they had no right to execute that man in his home, which Lying Cat could not deny. Lying Cat was the runt of her seven-kitten litter, a truth that has caused her distress.

Class 1-A students[edit] Izuku Midoriya (緑谷 出久, Midoriya Izuku) / Deku (デク, Deku) Voiced by: Daiki Yamashita[1] (Anime and Vomic) (Japanese); Justin Briner[2] (English) After attempting to save Bakugō from a villain, Izuku, an initially Quirkless boy, is chosen by All Might to become the ninth holder of One For All (ワン・フォー・オール, Wan Fō Ōru), a Quirk that stockpiles the user's physical strength and unleashes it as a powerful burst; the quirk can also be passed from one person to another. Eventually, Izuku finds out that One for All contains the quirks of the previous users but he becomes the first user capable of manifesting them.[3] While he initially disliked being called "Deku" by Katsuki, as it is based from the Japanese term meaning "good-for-nothing", Izuku is inspired by Ochaco's assumption that it was based on the word dekiru (できる, to be able to/to be capable of) to embrace the moniker and ultimately adopts it as his super name. Ochaco Uraraka (麗日 お茶子, Uraraka Ochako) / Uravity (ウラビティ, Urabiti) Voiced by: Ayane Sakura[4] (Japanese); Luci Christian[2] (English) A girl whose Quirk "Zero Gravity" (無重力(ゼログラビティ), Zero Gurabiti) which allows her to make any object she touches with all five of her fingers on one hand to become weightless. Similar to Katsuki, she also refers to Izuku as "Deku". However, unlike the former, she calls him by his nickname out of affection, becoming one of his closest friends. She eventually develops feelings for Izuku, which she has yet to open up about. Katsuki Bakugō (爆豪 勝己, Bakugō Katsuki) / Kacchan (かっちゃん, Katchan) Voiced by: Nobuhiko Okamoto (Anime),[4] Yūichirō Umehara (Vomic) (Japanese); Clifford Chapin[2] (English) Katsuki is Izuku's childhood friend, rival and classmate in Class 1-A, whom Izuku always calls Kacchan. He possesses the Quirk Explosion (爆破, Bakuha) giving his sweat nitroglycerin-like properties at which he can detonate at will. Much like his Quirk, he has an explosive temper and is very volatile with a fierce and competitive drive to achieve authentic victories. Shōto Todoroki (轟 焦凍, Todoroki Shōto) / Shouto (ショート, Shōto) Voiced by: Yūki Kaji[5] (Japanese); David Matranga[2] (English) A student in Class 1-A. He is the youngest child of Endeavor and he got through U.A via recommendations. Initially, he mostly uses the left side of his Quirk, with an exception for melting his ice, due to his family issues and childhood. Michael Tatum[2] (English) The serious Class representative whose Quirk is Engine (エンジン, Enjin) which gives him super-speed via jet engines in his legs. He was inspired by his older brother, Tensei, who was the first bearer of the name Ingenium. He takes on the name Ingenium after his brother is severely injured by Stain. He quickly befriends Izuku on the first day of school after he thought that he had discerned a few parameters the rest of the examinees did not know for the U.A. Entrance Exam by saving Uraraka during the battle test, without realizing that Izuku had been acting on a whim while doing so. Tsuyu Asui (蛙吹 梅雨, Asui Tsuyu) / Froppy (フロッピー, Furoppi) Voiced by: Aoi Yūki[4] (Japanese); Monica Rial[2] (English) A girl in Class 1-A. She later on reveals that she can eject/wash her stomach and undergo camouflage. Eijirō Kirishima (切島 鋭児郎, Kirishima Eijirō) / Red Riot (レッドライオット, Reddo Raiotto) Voiced by: Toshiki Masuda[6] (Japanese); Justin Cook[2] (English) A student in Class 1-A whose Quirk Hardening (硬化, Kōka) allows him to harden his body to become nearly invulnerable. Eijirō struggles with his sense of self-worth, which was exacerbated during an incident in middle school, when his then schoolmate (and future UA classmate) Mina Ashido chased away a giant villain threatening her friends while he stood paralyzed with fear. He is portrayed as crushing on Katsuki Bakugou.
