Clara would spend her 2 hours with KomiĀ and Corvo in shopping along with them. Despite growing up her entire life around people with nobility and wealth, she forgets how quickly money can be spent as the last 5 pieces of gold she had is spent on the herbalist kit in order to make the healing potions. Clara is quite ecstatic to purchase this new kit, but is also a little upset because she'll have to wait a little longer to buy a decent bedroll.

Oswulf the Merchant, a heavy set fellow from the city of Pinegulf stood up straight.

He was a proud man, who considered himself above the need to ask for help, however this was something he could not handle alone. He observed the party walking up to him and introducing themselves.

"Aye, you lot already know who I am. Let's get this ovah wit'. See, I cannot be at two place at once, on one hand I 'ave my lovely daughter Erine, and on the other hand I 'ave this large cargo I need to send to Sterulia. One destination Is towards the far west, the otha' crossing the Lost Sea."

Oswulf digs through his many velvet pockets, and finally locates what he was looking for. A single scroll, sealed with a wax seal bearing his family emblem.

"This 'ere letter is for mah brother, he is at Essealis the elven city. Ain't much like the place mahself, but my brother's a good man. Ah realize it's a wee bit of a travel crossing the nation, so 'ave loandled Drondos one of me ships. Drondos tells me that the fish feller is sea worthy, I'll leave it in yer hands. If ye mess it up, it's coming outta yer pay."

He tosses the scroll to Muggy, and the key to the captain's quarters.Ā

"This is my daughter, Erine. She's a quiet lass she is, but she knows the boat like the back of 'er hand. If one single hair on the back of 'er head is missin', you can ferget about the pay."

Ā

From behind Oswulf, nervously steps out Erine, the daughter.Ā There's something enthralling about her, perhaps it's a feeling of delight or perhaps it's simply her friendly demeanor. But nonetheless, people tend to subtly ignore her, while learning as much about her as possible.

"Pleasure to meet you all, my name is Erine. I trust I'll be safe in your hands." A warm smile compliments her words, a sense of calm radiating from her.

"The very best, Erine." Clara replies, "My name is Clara and it is a pleasure to meet your acquaintance."

She looked to her friend for support while nodding and smiling. Helping people was Komi's main joy in life, and she meant to enjoy this long trip to the fullest. She'd never been on a ship before! It was sure to be a great adventure, and her curiosity was piqued, to be sure.

Corvo had all that he needed. Using a combination of his arcane abilities and skills,he barely needed more than the bare minimum of equipment which suited him fine. Which was why, upon noticing the deficiency in Clara's equipment, he very quietly bought an extra bedroll suitable for the outdoors without sacrificing comfort and opted to leave it by her with an anonymous note later.

Rest was important after all and for better or worse, they would be working extensively. He would give her one more chance as well as look out for his companions as normal. Though without the thanks people usually did such tasks for.

That said, it appears their new escort mission seemed to have quite the effect on their party.

"Quite. I can't wait to get on the ship too."Ā

All that open water meant he could fly to his heart's content without worry for torch or pitchforks by deranged villagers!

This coat was nice, but his wings felt so cramped.Ā

Farley would take his time looking around the various shops. He hadn't spend money in awhile and his new adventure inspired him to buy things.

He buys a Grappling Hook, Lamp, Fishing Tackle and a Book (What The Hell Are Fish Vol. 12).

Once Farley returned to the group, he'd introduce himself to Oswulf and his daughter. He'd be surprised that the mission would require a ship, but he was glad for the change of pace. It had been a long time since he was on a ship.

"Should we find anything your skills may aid us, we shall do just that. Now unless there's anything else, I'd like to get to the ship now. The more we familiarize ourselves with it, the better we can do our job." Corvo said with a firm nod.

At the docks sat the ship which the team was to use to cross the desert straits, the ship gave off a magical aura, it seemed that Oswulf was correct the ship was almost entirely self navigated.

Made of cedar and oak, the ship stood proud. Although it was not the biggest ship at the docks, it was enough to serve their purpose. If all goes well, the trio from Eastrun to Essealis should not take more than 30 days, the Wave Reader from the docks informs us that the sea is calm, and should remain calm for a fortnight.

Ā

Onboard the ship however, it seemed like it was bigger than what it looked on the outside. The captain's cabin was located on the deck, a spacious room for Muggy. Below deck was the rest of the chambers, the party will have to share rooms of 2 it seemed. Fishing tools such as rods and nets adorned the sides of the ship, it seems food would consist of mostly what they caught. The ship also had harpoons and a badass cannon.

Oswulf marked the location of Essealis on the maps, and traced what would seem the fastest trail. Cut through the islands that divided Criorther from the Djansaima Sands, and it was a straight shot.

As Muggy finished his sentence, a bag of sand would materialize near him. The bag of sand proceeded to flop over, menacingly.

It is said that items that are animated by magic take on certain personalities, could this be one of those examples?

"Be careful. I hear they can smell fear." Drawled Corvo, walking calmly by as he looked and realized they'd have to share rooms.

Without thinking of the implications, he said simply.

"Komi, do you want to be my roommate? It would be nice to have someone who keeps the same schedule."

My lordy this was going to be a trip. By the end of their second mission, squad c ought to be family.

Farley would be impressed with the craftsmanship of the boat and the fact it didn't need a crew...

That was most strange. Farley walked on the deck with the others. "I suppose Muggy and I can bunk. We can keep the room wet."

Later on...

Komi went belowdecks to the galley, entirely missing Muggy's reaction to the magic ship. Magic had been part of her life for as long as she knew, so this was something she just took in stride.
She took it upon herself to organize things and put her own cooking tools among those here on the ship.
Ā

She really got into it, and the people who were already there just assumed that she was the new cook from the way she took charge of the galley. Her shyness didn't come into play because she was dealing with things she was familiar with for the most part.

By the time she'd gotten done, she was positively smiling.

Then she realized that this evening, she'd be sleeping in the same room with Corvo.

Ā

Gulp.

Ā

I'll deal with that when it happens, she thought, and settled in to sit on the deck and watch the last preparations to leave, mainly content.

With everyone finally boarded and comfortable, the ship took it's queue and began to lurch forward, the anchor levitating up in the air, coiled itself and returned to it's rest position. The oars began to row, slow at first, but they gradually got faster and faster, before settling into a rhythm.Ā

The girl looked at the nervous fish man and broke out in to a charming laughter.

"Of course it's a regular occurrence, it is a magic boat after all! Just a tip, never insult A.S, he'll get mad and drop sand on you. And yes, I know most ships are called 'she', but this is a man ship, just ask my poppa!"

Erine gave Muggy a playful pat on the shoulder, laughing at her joke.

The ship glowed with almost a blindingly blue aura, the sheer amount of magic used to animate this was astonishing! It seems like there truly is nothing money can't buy.

As for detecting magic on Erine, nothing happened, could it be that she didn't have any magic? Or simply that she wasn't currently using any magic so the spell couldn't detect it?

Ā

As the The Angel Steve left the docks and entered open waters, the oars retracted, and the sails opened up. Great mass of white cloth unraveled, and with an audibleĀ woosh they settled into place. Propelled forward by the powerful force that is the wind, The Angel Steve glided through the waters, like a hot knife passing through butter. Their second journey had just begun.

Act 2 - Adventures At High Sea

It has now been one week since The Angel Steve has left the port of Eastrun. One week of peaceful sailing, the ship being at a relatively fast pace across the southern border of Criorther. The food is bountiful for the group, as there is no lack of fish to catch and cook.

Muggy and Farley shared a room together in the Captain's cabin, Corvo and Komi in one of the crew cabins, Clara and Erine in another, and finally Cliff by himself.Ā

A quiet morning it has been, the sun shining down on our adventurous bunch. The group are together now, enjoying a breakfast of fish, discussing their next step.

Corvo was in equal parts heaven and hell.

The job was wonderful. Being at sea did wonders for him, exercising by doing flying laps around the ship as well as harpooning whatever he could when he flew. He enjoyed the chance to know his teammates, the confines giving him an insight into their personality.

He even found a chance to leave the bedroll by Clara and their clients door with no one seemingly the wiser. He enjoyed his roommate.

A little too much to the point he was discomfited.

What innocence and a life in the Abbey had obscured, puberty and a lack of supervision made him realize how much his friend had grown. Both in her confidence as well as...Well, a woman.

He felt guilty at first and wondered if he should bunk with Cliff. Then he realized that might offend her, and he was a professional after all. He could handle this.

Jessamine had been no help, his attempts at seeking aide always leaving him feeling like he did something wrong from her tone. In the end, all he could do was chalk it up to women in general and seek Cliff or Farley out for manly time or discourse. But he was no longer ignorant. The question was...What exactly does on do about it in this situation?

At the table, he'd be helping set up before he opted to go last for his food. And after he ate, asked aloud.

"How's our water supply? Is there a need to restore it anytime soon?"

He tried not to feel how much more aware he seemed to be now, a faint scent he identified with Komi by now wafting past his face as she'd turn her head.

"Well, I can purify small amounts of water daily with my magic, but not enough for everyone. It should make our supplies last longer." Komi offered. She'd been the one to help cook again this morning, and found unique ways to make fish seem different on the seventh day than on the first. She was very pleased with herself.

She was also, well... comfortable around Corvo now. Her shyness had started to fall away during those times when they were in the room together alone. It felt... relaxing, which is an odd feeling for her. But she did like it. Very much.
