Considering that he's technically just a sentient virus in the shape of a human, poking a hole in his suit won't do a thing to him.

 

But we've already seen that Hulk can deal with creatures that 'absorb' the flesh of others, his regeneration is more than capable of taking it, so I'll have to agree with the end goal, if not the means of getting there.

To clarify Kain's example (there's probably another one he's referring to), one that comes to mind for me is the Green Scar/King giving his mass to the Spikes in the World War Hulk Saga, where he's literally feeding the overminds of the swarm with his energy/mass for hours if not days on end, regenerating it back relatively quickly though not without strain but what does that matter to one such as the Hulk, especially against an inferior version.
