  1. So, I think Herbie has this for 2 reasons. The first is that Herbie should be quicker than a Hearse, the second being that VW bugs get better fuel economy than a 1959 Cadillac. But I'm open to arguments if I'm wrong on either point, I don't know a lot about the Ecto-1 in terms of speed and MPG. Just going off the vehicles they're based on.
  2. Going by the best version of Saitama, which is him being serious, he should go full speed blitz and power punches. I don't think Radioactive Man has much of a shot.
  3. Both are pretty cool, but I say the Mach-5 has that concept race-car aspect that the folks who go to auto shows are really going to like.
  4. I would think the truck is cooler, but I'm a huge dork. An auto show crowd is more likely to go for an old charger.
  5. Avenues to success. Let's look at some. The first is if Kurt just teleports behind Shiki and punches him in the head. That's pretty much game over. I'd imagine the weird geometry probably won't matter as much as people think, as Nightcrawler should be perfectly accustomed to the weird and paranormal. There's no reason to think that geometry that messes with Nightcrawler will have any less of an effect on someone who relies on sight to make his attacks. Also, Nightcrawler has weird angel stuff going on, which may make him one of the more conceptually complex beings that Shiki struggles against. But let's entertain the notion that teleporting within this space is unreliable, and that Nightcrawler won't be able to go where he actually wants to within R'lyeh. Fine, he can leave. Like, he can just teleport to a place he's familiar with, like he does here. Just leaving the battlefield and letting Shiki rot in this strange place with Cthulu. Good luck with that. Or imagine if Nightcrawler grabs Shiki and bamfs him somewhere else within this space. That would seriously fuck with Shiki's head, making the attack even more potent than how much bamfing someone can already hurt them. Also, using his little Bamfs(the strange small imp things) would minimize the effect of the weird terrain. They could spread out through the area, allowing Nightcrawler to make successful and stress free teleports around the city.
  6. I really don't see where Rick has an advantage here. His leadership skills mean nothing, he's a civilian cop stranded on the high seas with soldiers. They won't care what he has to say at all. Compare that to Dutch, who was a Major-you know, an officer. I know Dutch was army and the Indianapolis is navy, but soldiers are more likely to listen to another seasoned soldier than some sheriff. Second, we're not rebuilding civilization here. This is purely about surviving a few days in incredibly harsh conditions against an enemy that attacks via ambush. Dutch is a Vietnam vet, so he has harsh conditions and being ambushed checked off. The man also survived torture by the Viet Cong, which the predator novel states gave him resistance to pain. Think about the fact that most of these sailors probably died to something other than sharks, such as dehydration or exposure, and the tougher and more resilient Dutch has a clear advantage. Finally, on the topic of who the more crafty and capable of taking advantage of their surroundings is, think about Rick's nature. He only acts in a ruthless manner in order to protect others. He's unlikely to do anything that risks the lives of the soldiers in the water. It's more likely that Rick does the self-sacrificing thing and gives up a life jacket or his spot on a raft for someone else. Dutch will be looking out for himself more than Rick will, and Rick will suffer for it.
  7. It's not one time fighting a predator. After the film, Dutch spends his life hunting down predators. That's when he hones his craftiness. Not to mention he's a trained soldier and Vietnam War vet. You may think I'm not giving Rick his dues, but you're grossly understating the skills and experience that Dutch brings to this. Rick has never faced something as dangerous as the Predators, and it takes Rick longer to adapt to zombies than it took for Dutch to adapt to an intelligent alien with advanced tech. Dutch is quicker, stronger, and every bit as smart if not smarter than Rick. If we're talking thin margins, it's the Sheriff who's more likely to get chewed up. I would put my money on Dutch being the one to live through this.
  8. Terrain actually works against Shiki pretty significantly. His ability is extremely taxing on his mind. As the vsdbattles wiki states "More critically, the human mind was not built to comprehend death on such a level, and using them is highly taxing, causing headaches, and, if Shiki pushes himself too far, potentially death." Combine the strain of using his power with the madness inducing terrain and he's gonna lose before he has a chance to hurt Nightcrawler, who just needs to be quick and stay out of range to win. Nightcrawler has more avenues to success than Shiki.
  9. Dutch isn't an idiot, he's not gonna randomly start murdering people. What I'm saying is that he's crafty and opportunistic, and those traits put him ahead of Rick. This is an opponent that Rick will struggle to kill and can't hide from. His zombie skills are less applicable than you think.
  10. Rick does have a little more experience with bitey eating machines, but Dutch actually has the advantage here for two reason. First, he's used to strategizing his way around a smart opponent. Out-thinking and surviving sharks should be no problem when compared to predators. Second, as shown in the expanded canon when Dutch uses other mercenaries as bait, he has no issue sacrificing others to get ahead. Dutch would use anything at his disposal, including other's lives, to get ahead.
  11. Carolyn does die by getting grabbed from behind in Pitch Black, so not the best feat. And she's not near as good as Dutch, with his military and mercenary experience. Not to mention Dutch's leadership skills from commanding mercenaries in the expanded canon.
  12. If Cindy has been, uh, growing out her hair again (chainsaw trimming scene) then maybe the killer alligators will choke to death.
  13. Jumanji is just a weird one to me. I guess its win conditions are either that the things it summons, beasts and whatever monstrous stuff, can beat the enemy, or that the other character is pulled into the game and needs to be less skilled than normal people who beat the game in the movies.
  14. That's a fair way to look at it too. I think that's one more piece to be added to the challenges in the future, something that specifies what's available to the characters. Now, either way of looking at it, I still favor Dutch here.
  15. I like, half agree. Certainly thinking that Dutch can bring in an entire stockpile of weapons to arm the citizenry is kinda silly. But assuming he has his regular arsenal, since he is a mercenary who goes on to run a mercenary company, is reasonable. When I look at most of the characters in the draft I try to think of what their normal gear is: If they knew they were going on a dangerous task what would they, within reason, bring? Standard equipment passes the within reason test to me. As for my thoughts on this particular match, Dutch has successfully taken out more than one Predator. Besides that, the town has the "rec room", which is full of weapons. Dutch not only survives but takes out the Graboids in decisive fashion.
  16. A challenge custom tailored for the man your man could smell like. Tough go for the tiger.
  17. Mach 5 in a race = win. Faster, perfectly capable of cornering. I will repost this video of the hill climb to to remind folks that speed matters.
  18. Does Cass NORMALLY carry any sonic or fire based weaponry that would knock the symbiote off its host? I emphasize normally because we can't assume prep time (with prep the Bat family is way over this tier), so either she carries powerful enough items on the regular or she doesn't.
  19. I'm gonna take a breath and not get too annoyed, since this is about having fun and all, but I can't help but be a little irked. There's no argument made for the Human Torch, but I guess being a comic book character is enough for the win. Oh well.
  20. Supernova pops him into tier 5, can't be used.
  21. Nightcrawler could just teleport Spidey in front of a trap and be done with this fight quickly. Nightcrawler has also fought and been a good match for the comics version of Spider-Man, who is much stronger than the Raimi version. NC takes this fight handily.
  22. Saitama's care free attitude may actually help him keep his cool in this terrain. And speaking of keeping things cool, Saitama is gonna snuff out the human torch!
