  1. Great set-up as usual, Rakai. Since there's about less than a day left to vote and rate this match as I type this, I hope a few more folks get in comments. Great recap with Donatello and Chun-Li. Chun-Li's skill and grace really came off well in the fight, as did Donnie's skill and ingenuity.

But the smoke now moved in front of Chun-Li’s field of vision, and she suddenly found herself coughing profusely as the black smoke infiltrated her lungs, interrupting her Kikousho technique.

    Kikosho!

That's the technique of Chun-Li's that I meant to post in my comment for your last match, not the Kikoken. I thought the Kikosho may give Donnie trouble, but he figured out a way to counter it. Also, an interesting and unexpected way to end the fight.

As for the match, we've got Michelangelo's wilder style against Ken's fury. Both arguably rely as much on their athleticism as their skills. Ken may be slightly fresher than Mikey and has his ferocious speicials, but Raph did manage to injure Ken's ribs earlier. Since it's doubtful Ken's ribs are healed yet, that just may give Mikey the edge he needs.

  2. Very good set-up, broadway. It had good characterization, and some hilarious dialogue. :D I wish I had caught this before voting and rating wrapped. Still not sure how Carnage managed to kill toons without Dip, though.

I think Carnage rightfully won the vote. Since it's doubtful they could hurt one another physically, though, Carnage would've likely had to subdue Doom long enough to open up a barrel of Dip and throw the Judge in.

  3. Here are some more of my occasional adds. :D

    New characters added:

    The Seven (The Boys)

The antagonistic team of "superheroes" from The Boys comics and show is now in the Database. Given the "heroes" all seem to have individual agendas and generally abuse one another, it may be interesting to see how effective they'd be against other superteams.

    Rose Armitage

I watched Get Out for the first time a couple of weeks ago, and without spoiling, I'll just say she's an ... interesting character. Let's see how she does in CBUB.

    New images added:

    Omni-Man

    Allen the Alien

    Conquest (Invincible)

    Pike Trickfoot

    Rose Armitage

Some alt images, and mostly alt battle pics.

  4. Wow, no one's commented on this yet?? I guess I'm up, then.

Great set-up as usual, Rakai. Great recap with Michelangelo and Guile, too, as it really showed what both combatants could do. You pulled out some of Guile's most renowned moves (and his tendency to use combos) as well as some of Mikey's best moves from the shows, comics, and games.

As for the match, Chun-Li should really keep Donatello on his toes with her agility, skills, and renowned kick attacks (not to mention if she pulls out her specials, like the Kikosho). As mentioned, though, Donatello has dealt with a diverse set of opponents, so between that experience, his skill, and his gadgets, he could win this.

  5. Looks like another interesting arc you've got going, Johnny. Sorry I missed voting on and ranking a couple of these matches.

And yeah, I think Remy rightfully won this friendly skirmish. It might've been a different story if this were a battle to the death, though.

  6. Great set-up as usual, Rakai. The recap with Raphael and Ken was very good, but I had a slight feeling from reading it that you may have been expecting Raph to win the vote. As for low engagement with matches recently, I wonder if part of it may be due to some of the usual readers working on their own matches for the tournament.

As for the match, yeah, Guile's more defensive, reactionary style may at least initially give the more instinctual Michelangelo some fits. Guile probably isn't quite among the top tier of Street Fighter characters as far as power, though, so in a pretty tough fight, a particularly-inspired Mikey may have a shot at winning.

  7. Pretty good set-up, Venom, if a little short. And as mentioned, congrats on making your 200th match! :D

As for the match, Grumble Bee just may have a shot here. Waspinator gets blasted apart on a regular basis on Beast Wars, and Grumble Bee's venom might do some damage to Waspinator's armor.

  8. This was another great set-up as usual, Rakai. So sorry about missing out on this. :( I haven't been on the ball with CBUB of late.

This was one of your best recaps in this arc to date. Leo rightfully had his toughest fight so far, and it really shows how far he's grown as a fighter since his earlier loses in the story, especially to the likes of Terry Bogard.

As for the match, I think I would've been stuck on this one. Yes, Mirage Raph is very skilled, but so is Ken, and Ken has power to go along with his skill. Raph's ninjutsu tactics would definitely give Ken trouble, though. I'm not really surprised Ken won the vote since he's still one of the most popular and powerful fighting game characters, but the vote was still rightfully close.

Again, I'm sorry about missing out on this. I hope this doesn't discourage you from continuing the arc.

  9. Good set-up, Gizmo. Too bad it seems it was a little late to qualify for the tournament. A few misspellings here and there, but overall a good story.

Nice throwback dialogue to the '90's X-Men 'toon, too. :D

Haven't seen the Incredibles movies yet, but I don't think that aside from Hercules, Disney's Animated Canon has yet produced a character with strength on par with most versions of Juggernaut. Add to that Cain's invulnerability and unstoppable momentum, I'm not liking Mr. Incredible's odds.

  10. Been a while. :) Missed out on rating and voting on so many tourney entries. My bad.

Good entry, broadway. It's a good story and everyone's in character. One quibble, though: if Kimberly grew to Arcee's height, she'd actually be around 12-15 feet tall.

As for the match, Arcee from the '80's 'toon never impressed me much with her combat skill. The show seemed more focused on just making her the "girl" of the Autobots. Her Cybertronian build may give her a durability edge against Kimberly, but I still think Kimberly has the edge in this one.

Should have switched Arcee's picture to her G1 picture but at least you told us.

That might've been tricky. The admin panel on the profiles has been on the fritz lately.

Try this method and see if works.

Sign out, click the control panel while logged off, sign back in.

If that works it's the browser cache.

I don't think I tried that method to the letter, but the admin panel suddenly appeared for me.

Really still can't do it for me.

Huh, and now it's not showing for me, either. I tried toggling between various profiles, going to the Database through the home page, and logging out and back in, and the option doesn't show.

  13. Been a minute. :D

    New characters added:

    General Kregg

General of the Viltrumite military is now in the Database. For those who haven't read the Invincible comics (like yours truly), I'm guessing he'll become more interesting in the show later on.

    Stripe (Gremlins)

Recently watched Gremlins through for the first time, and since both it and Gremlins II are still on Tubi, I plan to watch the sequel this month as well. :) I already knew the theme song and watched several scenes from the first movie a long time ago, though. I'm surprised the films' main villain hadn't been added before.

    New images added:

    Angstrom Levy

    General Kregg

     Anissa

Just some alt images for these characters from the Invincible animated series.

We all know why you added Anissa, @Venom 2009. :D As an aside note, though I haven't read the comics, I was recently spoiled on the gist of a certain -- deed Anissa did that may also happen in the show (I can thank Internet algorithms and the fact that around 1/5 of YouTubers are apparently idiots for spoiling me on that 😒).  Those that know of the "deed" probably don't simp on Anissa so much.

  14. Pretty good Megastory entry, leroy, if a bit short. Yep, Thangarians and Dinobots are definitely two factions that often need to work on their communication skills. 😄

As for the match, individual Thanagarians often wield enough Nth metal gear to take on DC's flying bricks. They should take this skirmish, but the Dinobots will make them work.

OK, thanks for that.  Still a couple things to take care of.

Ah, that explains things. I just added some alt images to the gallery with currently no way to add them to profiles.

EDIT: Ah, never mind. Visiting another profile somehow made the admin option reappear.

  16. Just started watching The Boys. A couple of things of note so far are 1) for a series about superheroes (albeit corrupt ones) I'm three episodes into Season 1 and it's kinda weird that, almost halfway into the season, there haven't been any supervillains yet; and 2) Homelander is already proving to be a bigger dick than Omni-Man, and that's saying something since Nolan's surely murdered a lot more people.

Anyways, nothing I've seen of Homelander so far shows me that he could handle a fight against most versions of Juggernaut.

  17. Good set-up and CBUB Match debut for Jack Darby, leroy. I can see someone's watched Transformers: Prime. :D

You know what? Jack may have a decent chance of helping Raph slip away. In-show, Jack was clever enough to outsmart Decepticons and Special Ops soldiers on occasion, and Raph wasn't shabby in that sense, either. Alonzo is pretty tricky himself, though.
