Star Wars Blaster Bolt Speed

I ripped a scene from the vid and pushed it frame by frame while following a single Blaster Bolt. As you can see in the picture the Blaster Bolt travels from the tip of the LAAT Gunship to the wing laser pod in 0.24 seconds. That's a total distance of 11.16m traveled in slightly less than half a second. Getting a rough speed of 46.5m/s...

Gargh, since I feel bad about just linking to something, I'll toss my 2 cents in.

Different blasters may have different bolt speeds, and of course, bolt speeds might be determined by various factors, (as someone points out in that discussion, blasters behave in odd ways).

 

The Battle of Geonosis actually shows ridiculous bolt speeds.

The blaster bolt appeared to be a meter long, this may have been an Anti-Infantry bolt from a larger Blaster. It probably wasn't an Anti-Vehicle bolt since it was targeting not the Laat but the area where the Troopers dropped out of the Laat. As well, IIRC one of the Troopers catches one in the face on a later scene with explosive results.
