  1. Previously: The Robotech Masters sent their Zentraedi war slaves to exterminate the Quintessons. That's really all you need to know for this match. "The Zentraedi are destroying us!" A Quintesson judge exclaimed. "If they continue at this pace we will be gone in one year!" "We should go the Robotech Masters and negotiate a ceasefire." Said another judge. "The Robotech Masters control the Zentaedi. This attack is because the Robotech Masters wish it." From an outsider's point of view, all of the Quintessons were identical. But there were variations. The five heads weren't in the same order on all of them. Some were slightly larger than others. And the voices of the various heads differed. "Then we must move someone in place to defend us." "Who?" It was a depressingly valid question. The Quintessons vile reputation preceded them. No one would stand in the way of their extermination. Besides, how many civilizations were there that could stand up to the might of the Zentraedi? "I believe I have a solution." Said a single headed lesser Quintesson. "An ancient species. They obliterate entire peoples in order to test their worth to exist. The Shadows." "But they hide away, only to come out at the times of their choosing; when a civilization had flourished enough to be tested. Had we not redirected their attention, they would have come after us millions of years ago." "What better test is there for The Shadows than the giant servants of the The Robotech Masters?" "Or better yet- the Tirolians themselves." "Yes! Then they will send the Zentraedi to defend them. They will have no time for us!" "We should begin sending propaganda psychic waves that The Shadows will receive. When they know of the power the Robotech Masters command, there is no doubt that they will come out to test them." It took months but the Shadows did find the Robotech Masters intriguing. Their armada began its journey toward Tirol and the Robotech Masters saw them coming. They called millions of Zentraedi ships in from various missions, leaving key forces to continue in vital operations. Dolza himself was to command the war. He was first Zentraedi that the Masters had created. He was purely loyal to them and the other Zentraedi feared him. As their slave race mounted up and prepared to face the Shadows, the Robotech Masters secured themselves in other ways. Ways that excluded them from combat. Should the preposterous happen and The Zentraedi fall, Tirolian civilization needed to be preserved. No matter if The Zentraedi were wiped out. The Masters could clone new giant warriors. But Tirol. Tirol was all important. Let the Shadows come. Let the Shadows learn the power of the Robotech Masters. Fight Parameters Consider this a full scale long term war. Except for Dolza, none of the other known Zentraedi (Breetai, Miriya, Khyron, Azonia) will be involved in this war. Who is the more powerful destructors? The Zentraedi? Or The Shadows?
  2. Successful in testing her battle armor, Miriya returned to Soundwave's hideout base. She was still amazed at the fact that the lone Decepticon had taken over the Machine Empire. Because the Zentraedi had not had conflict with Cybertron, Miriya didn't understand the factions to the degree that she wished she had. Of course the Robotech Masters had provided basic intelligence on the planet's mechanized inhabitants but standing orders were to leave them alone unless provoked. She found it odd that Soundwave didn't contact her during her approach. When she got inside, climbed out of her armor and returned to Soundwave's control room she was startled to see the mech in battle with a samurai looking being. At this point, Soundwave had the victory well in hand bringing his shoulder cannon to bear and unloading on his opponent. The other being lay on the floor lifeless. "What is going on!" Miriya exclaimed. "He has retreated back into cyberspace." Soundwave said coldly. "What do you mean? He's lying right there!" "An empty shell." Soundwave explained. "His cyber conscience has retreated." "Who is he?" "Unknown. But for now he is gone." "What are we going to do now?" Miriya asked. "And it better involve getting those Insecticons." Sondwave turned away from her. "We are ready to begin to extract our revenge." Miriya listened intently. When she understood the plan, they embarked. Through his superior sensor abilities Soundwave intercepted a communication indicating that Starscream would be going to Gobatron for a meeting with The Renegade faction of that planet. Soundwave and Miriya were going to intercept the new Decepticon leader's transport and destroy him. He didn't mention that the Insecticons were nowhere near the area but the opportunity to get them would turn up eventually. Backed by the army of the Machine Empire, Soundwave and Miriya attacked. Starscream and Cy-Kill were in discussions when the fighting started. The Reneagades obeying Cy-Kill tried to defend the meeting but they were overrun by the Machine Empire forces. After a while, The Machine Empire battled their way to the leaders. Cy-Kill waited for the first enemy to come through the door so that he could blast them. A few giant-sized Cogs- the Machine Empires infantry robots-were obliterated but they kept coming. When they had secured the room- leaving Cy-Kill, Crasher, Cop-Tur and Starscream functional- Soundwave and Miriya entered. "You!" Starscream bellowed. He whirled on Cy-Kill. "You said you terminated him!" "An error." Cy-Kill replied grumblingly. Soundwave said nothing as he stared his enemies down. The memory of Buzzsaw, Rumble and Frenzy plagued him. When he finally spoke, he uttered a mere two words. "Destroy them." The Renegades fought for their lives. But Starscream withdrew, transforming into plane mode and blowing through the ship's hull. Soundwave had warned Miriya that the new Decepticon leader would probably do such a thing and she gave chase. "What is wrong with you Zentraedi!" Starscream whined. "This isn't your fight! What business do you have with our kind?" "Surrender the Insecticons to me!" Miriya replied. "I will do no such thing!" Starscream yelled. He had no reason to deny her the request. The Insecticons were unique but not irreplaceable. Most Decepticons really didn't even like them. Starscream just wanted to be defiant. Miriya began to set him in her targeting sites. "Then you'll get no mercy from me!" Fully drunk with belligerency, Starscream suddenly turned around. "It's you who won't get any mercy from me!" Fight Parameters Arial dog fight to the death (actually they're in space). Miriya is full-sized, fighting in her Quadrino battle armor. Starscream is Generation 1 version
  3. The failure to completely destroy the Insecticon hold over an insignificant planet was an embarrassment. Commander Azonia expected to be stripped of rank and locked into a stasis unit. She received an even worse punishment than that. She was to be supported by a male force. The Zentraedi race was racially divided in a way that nations were divided on un-unified planets. The male (Zentran) were sickened by the very thought of their female (Meltran) counterparts and the reverse was true as well. They refused to work together, serve in the same units, or even fight in the same battles. If the Robotech Masters hadn't created the Zentraedi through cloning, the giants would have gone extinct in just one generation. Further insult was stabbed as Breetai's ships defolded from hyperspace. He was only using a fraction of his fleet. They established communication right away. "Azonia." "Breetai." That was all that was said between the two for a long moment. "Your work wasn't thorough enough." Breetai finally spoke again. "I understand that you even lost your best pilot." "Miriya Parina, yes." Azonia confessed. Breetai went on. "The Robotech Masters have declared The Decepticons our enemies. The news comes from Dolza himself. We knew this was coming sooner or later. The plan was for us to have recovered the lost Protoculture Matrix first, but something obviously has changed." "So then we'll be finishing eradicating the bots on this world?" presumed Azonia. "No." Breetai said sharply. "There is a more dangerous target for us to eliminate. The Quintessons." "I've never heard of them." Azonia admitted. "Probably not." Breetai deduced. "They are a cowardly race. Hiding in the shadows while other's fight for them." "Not too different from the Robotech Masters." Azonia snidded. Breetai gave no comment to that. A simple growl in his throat which could have meant anything was the only sound he made. The Meltran was clearly poking, checking to see Breetai's attitude toward the Zentraedi's service to the Robotech Masters. His failure to outright chastise her said enough. But just to be clear the air, Azonia gave a declaration. "We will destroy the Quintessons and any other enemies that the Robotech Masters proclaim for us." "Well said." Breetai approved. "For the glory of the Zentraedi." Azonia noted that he did not say "and the Robotech Masters." Fight Parameters Consider this a long term war not just a single battle. The Zentraedi are out to destroy the Quintessons and their influence in whatever they control. The Quintessons don't know they're at war yet but they'll figure it out soon enough. Is Zentreadi power too much for them or will the Quintessons' cunning save them from extinction?
  4. Previously: The Sith Lords, Darth Vader, Exar Kun, Count Dooku, Darth Caedus (the fallen Jacen Solo) and Darth Maul set out to destroy The Cyber Shredder. Instead of their intended enemy, they encountered Nimrod. The droid stood up to the Sith's lightning better than they had hoped. After a few seconds, Nimrod seemed to adjust to the attack. Count Dooku cut the electricity off which inspired the others to do the same. Now came Nimrod's counter attack. He lifted off the ground on his anti-gravity installation and floated forward. Twisting at the hip, the robot reached his arm out and swept it from left to right, a stream of energy lashing out from that path like a whip. Darth Caedus and Darth Vader were in the path. Caedus Force leaped out of harms way while Vader simply stood his ground and let a Force wave block the energy stream. Coming in from the other side, Darth Maul charged and made a downward stroke with his lightsaber. The blow wasn't broad enough to sever a limb, but it showed that Nimrod's body wasn't very resistant to the laser-like blade. Much of its insides was exposed. Darth Maul then brought the other end of his saber around and swiped the other way, creating a "v' wound. However, the first slash was already healing as the second slash was being finished up. Exar Kun tried to zap the exposed area with lightning but it was too late. "Self healing." Count Dooku obsereved to Vader and Caedus who were closet to him. "We will have to work faster." "And smarter." Darth Caedus added. The man once known as Jacen Solo initiated his exotic Force powers. Flow Walking was a technique far superior to the precog that most Jedi and Sith utilized. It was even superior to the future visions capable only by a few very powerful Force sensitives. Flow Walking allowed a Force user to mentally travel through time, either direction. Darth Caedus Flow Walked a minute into the future. With the foreknowledge of what Nimrod would do, the Sith Lord easily evaded harm. Count Dooku dropped a large chunk of ceiling onto Nimrod. "Nice." Exar Kun complimented him. "But I think a second pile on would be better." He dropped a larger chunk of debris onto Nimrod. Darth Vader stepped up. "More." His awesome power lifted a support beam and not simply dropping it on him but slamming it down as if it had fallen all the way from stratosphere. It was quiet and they waited. Because Nimrod was a robot, they couldn't sense any emotions to know weather they had destroyed it or not. Then Nimrod began to dig himself out. "What sort of fool makes a droid this powerful?" Exar Kun exclaimed. "Don't despair." Count Dooku cautioned. "We are the Sith. The Lords of the darkside. No driod will prove our better." "Well said." Darth Vader agreed. He lifted his lightsaber, not with his arms but with The Force. The energy blade flew on its own at the rebuild Nimrod as it was lifting itself out of the rubble. The blow went all the way through, and then Vader Force-pulled the anti-grav device that Nimrod was using to hover, out of the Sentinel's body. Its feet on the ground, the Sentinel fired on Vader but Exar Kun was already on him. His light saber hacked at the shoulder. Darth Maul attacked too; both men, with their double-ended lightsabers, out maneuvered the Sentinel and caused it significant damage. The self repair was working hard but so were The Sith. Their various attacks- lighting and Force pushes, mainly- were having less and less of an effect. Nevertheless, they kept Nimrod from hurting even one of them. Until Count Dooku made a misstep and failed to put a strong enough block to hold back the Sentinels latest disintegration beam. Darth Tyranus was vaporized. With robot focused on his kill, He couldn't turn quickly enough for Darth Maul to chop his head off. The attack didn't stop Nimrod as the headless body reached out to snag Darth Maul who severed that arm just like the head. The cut is probably what saved him from the electrical charge that was being coursed through him. The current was suddenly dropped from its source. Nimrod lashed out at Darth Caedus but was struck from bother directions by Darth Vader and Exar Kun. The two Sith Lords used a Force pull that ripped the rest of the body apart. From there, Darth Caedus pulled out the central processing unit. Even then, Nimrod continued to repair himself. When Caedus electrified the CPU, Nimrod fell dead. Vader used a Force wave to further destroy the body just to be sure it was finished. Their intended target, the Cyber Shredder, was nowhere to be found so the Sith Lords returned to their base and discussed their prospective plans. Darth Vader presided over the meeting. "There have been enough distractions. It is clear that we will not be able to destroy all potential opponents and rivals before we can initiate a take over of the planet. We need to synchronize our allies and move forward." "The Shadow King is conducting business of his own." Darth Caedus announced. "I should check up on him. Rein him in case he gets any ideas." "Dooku was the main contact for the Shadow King." Exar Kun reminded everyone callously. "But your right. We can't have him plotting against us." Vader added. "Take the dark converts with you. He's collected quite the gathering of fighters." ****** Darth Caedus didn't know much about Macross Island. He knew that an alien ship had crashed there many years ago and that it had been restored. Their allies, the Robotch Masters had a great interest in that ship, and that was supposed to be why the Shadow King was there. To locate the Protoculture Matrix within the ship and retrieve it. There was no resistance entering the underground fight club facility. No guards, a sorry excuse for a surveillance system. Caedus found the mix of the Shadow King and LeRoy Greene easy to pinpoint within The Force. The possessed man must have sensed the Sith Lord in turn because he showed no surprise when Caedus came in. "What are you doing, Shadow King?" was the Sith's version of a greeting. "Surely you didn't think I would participate in the operation myself did you?" Said the Shadow King. Even though he spoke through LeRoy's voice, he let his own speech patterns reign over his words. "Do you have what the Robotech Masters are looking for?" "Not yet," "Then don't you think you should be focusing on that instead of underground fight clubs?" "You seem eager to please The Tirolians." Shadow King smiled. "Have they been threatening you?" Darth Caedus' scowled. "If you're implying that we're afraid of them, you're mistaken. The Sith Empire could destroy the Robotech Masters if we needed to. It's simply a better use of our effort to work with them against more universal enemies." Shadow King snorted. "I've hired a mercenary to inspect the Macross vessel. He should be reporting back, soon." ***** Zartan- a disguiser of near superhuman ability- had infiltrated the Robotech ship, posing as a high ranking Robotech Defense Force officer. He had found the Protoculture Matrix within the SDF-1 as his clients had suspected. There was no way to remove it so he would simply have to tell them that it was there and see it they could use his services in the operation to retrieve it. The ship suddenly went on alert. It didn't seem apparent that they were looking for him, but the alarm was a sign that he had better leave now. Whatever the problem was, Zartan didn't want any part of it. All he needed to do was keep his cover. Fight Paramerters Mission: Escape Zartan must escape the SDF-1 Macross. He is inside the ship, posing as a high ranking RDF officer. The ship is on alert but not because of him. They are not looking for Zartan and have no idea that he is there. (the problem is a security breach elsewhere in case you're wondering) Zartan has to- Keep his cover. Take out anybody who happens to discover he's a spy. Steal a Veritech fighter and get away. (he doesn't know how to transform it and all that, but he can pilot the thing and fire the weapons) If you think Zartan can accomplish all of that, vote for him. If you think that he get's captured in any of the above challenges, vote for the Robotech Defense Force. Rick and Roy and Max and all the other main characters are available to stop him and chase him down.
  5. Previously: The Zentraedi attempted to purge a planet overrun with Insecticon clones. Ace pilot, Miriya lead a team to the surface to confirm the obliteration. She was engaged by the main three Instecticons (Shrapnel, Kickback and Bombshell), and was defeated in battle. The scream was piercing and Miriya was having trouble blocking it out. The Insecticon swarm had devoured most of her squadron, but a few remained alive for the robot bugs' amusement. True, they had questions which they wanted to be certain that they had truthful answers for, but the sick mechs enjoyed the torment even when they knew learned what they wanted. Miriya had been sparred the worst of it. Although she had experienced her fair share of pain. The dreaded fact that she was still alive told her that there was still more to come. Her combat wingman was currently suffering the Insecticons' tender mercies. She was tough but it wouldn't be long before her body gave out. "How can you do this!" Miriya mustered as much anger as she could. "The Decepticons are reputed to be mighty conquerors! This prisoner torture brings no glory! You're nothing but monsters!" One of them, Shrapnel, approached her. His head cocked and twitched as if he were being mildly electrocuted at regular intervals. "But breaking a specimen is so delightful... delightful. Can't you hear the different pitches of your friend as we do different things to her... to her?" "You had better finish me quickly." Miriya glowered. "Because if I escape, I'll..." "Oh spare us the threats!" Another one, Kickback, cut her off. "There are more interesting sounds that should be coming out of you mouth." Even through her pain, Miriya saw something in the far corner. A bird mech, watching the entire ordeal. Laserbeak recorded the persecution and transmitted the signal to Soundwave. In an altercation, Soundwave had destroyed King Mondo, the result of that, awarded him power over the Machine Empire. He had no desire to rule. But the Empire's resources were too useful to walk away from. According to Laserbeak's spying, the Insecticons submitted to Starscream's authority. That meant that they would kill him on site if they could. More likely, they would report his presence to the Decepticons, gaining more favor for themselves. The other one, however- The Zentraedi- could be a potential ally. He watched her agony. He watched the Insecticons enjoy it. Then he watched the fury in her eyes during her breaks. Given the slightest chance, she would destroy them utterly. The Insecticons were called away to Decepticon business. But they weren't finished with Miriya, so they left her alive. Under Soundwave's instruction, Laserbeak made his move. He began to free the Zentraedi. She was unconscious, but the tampering with her binds stirred her. A mini holo image of Soundwave appeared before her. In his harmonized monotonic voice he spoke. "Greetings Zentraedi. My designation is Soundwave." "What do you want?" Miriya growled weakly. "I offer you a chance at revenge." This perked her up. "You would betray your own kind?" "Do you want revenge or not?" Soundwave ignored her question. "I do." With that, Laserbeak finished freeing her from her bonds. She was too weak to do anything right now. Soundwave beamed her to his ship. Once aboard, micronian Cogs tended to her. They were like little roaches crawling all over her but she allowed them to nurse her wounds. When they were finished, Soundwave visited her. "Why are you helping me?" Miriya asked, making sure that she sounded more demanding than curious. "I have my reasons." Was his answer. He then presented her with a gift. "I have rebuilt your battle armor. But I do not know the specifications of Zentraedi systems. You should test it." "I would be more than happy to squash those bug bots." Miriya snarled. "No. Not the Insecticons. Not yet. I have another target for you." A display screen came to life showing a bulky jet fighter flying through space. "A loan Cybertronian?" Miriya recoiled. "Being that three were too much for you, a single Autobot should be sufficient sport." Said Soundwave. "Fine." She climbed inside the Quadrino battle suit and settled in for battle. ******* Jetfire was excited about his find- a human habitable planitod within an asteroid field. It lay in Cardassian controlled space so he wasn't thrilled about them finding it, but it was an amazing discovery. The scientist in his spark had him ready to go warp speed. But he wasn't capable of that kind of velocity. He would need to reach a larger ship, report the find to Autobot command and they could decide what to do about this freak asteroid. So blissful in his discovery, Jetfire noticed far too late the bogie closing on him. If he hadn't performed an automatic course correction, he would have been shot down. Miriya growled at her missed shot. "You won't be so lucky next time." Fight Parameters dog fight in space This is Generation 1 Jetfire Miriya is full-sized, in her Zentraedi Quadrino battle armor Here's a video of Miriya in combat with Max. It's from the Macross: Do You Remember Love movie which has a much better fight than they had in the cartoon series. Didn't see an English version available. And here's Jetfire from the Fall of Cybertron game. He's most like his G1 interpretation here.
  6. Roy Fokker vs. Steven Hiller My submission for the March contest. I may take ideas from this for my mega story but this particular set up is unrelated. Author's note: For those that care, this takes place years after the Independence Day movie and before the SDF-1 Macross crash lands on Earth, during the Robotech Universe's global civil war. The global civil war was raging on and on. Despite surviving the alien invasion years ago, the various nations of the Earth couldn't figure out how to co-exist. Captain Steven Hiller, a hero of the alien invasion, led a fighter group on a bombing raid. They didn't even know the nature of their target, simply that they were to destroy something being built in Japan. Hiller did know though. He wasn't supposed to, but after his accommodations from President Whitmore, he was given access to intel not awarded to those of his rank. The group was approaching the hot zone. "Kind of funny, no resistance coming to intercept." Roy Fokker commented. "Don't look a gift horse in the mouth!" Hiller chided him. "It'd be nice to do a bombing raid and not loose anybody!" "Couldn't agree more!" Fokker's smile came through the radio like the scent of an apple pie. Roy Fokker had proven to be an excellent fighter pilot. He was cocky but what pilot wasn't. Plus he was no kid. He grew up in some flying circus which explained why he was so good. After a few missions, Hiller selected the top gun as his wingman. They had accumulated many kills together. Suddenly the interceptor alarms beeped on everyone's consoles. "Uh oh! Spoke too soon!" Roy frowned at the radar display. "Stay in formation!" Hiller ordered. "I think I can get us through!" "How are you gonna do that?" another pilot asked. "Just stay in formation!" Hiller repeated. The bogies were coming into visual range, but no one saw anything. "Am I missing something here?" Asked a pilot named Cranston. The skies were clear except for some clouds. "Don't break formation." Hiller warned everyone. "Why do you keep telling us that?" Galanski sounded irritated. "We're sitting ducks if an enemy pounces." "Trust me," was Hiller's reply. "Captain!" a pilot named Busk shouted. "I'm losing control of my aircraft! It's banking!" "Eject!" Roy Fokker ordered. "No don't!" Hiller countered. "Go with it! "Say again!?" Busk cried. "Go with it!" Hiller repeated. "You'll be alright!" "Screw that!" Busk rebelled. "I'll be nose-diving in a second! Ejecting now!" Hiller's command not to eject was ignored as the last plane in the formation popped its cockpit dome and the pilot was expelled. At that moment, the fighter group was bombarded with unmarked hostile fire. The ejected pilot was hit and vaporized as was his uncontrolled plane. The other fighters were targeted too. A few escaped the opening salvo but a second wave eliminated them. Soon Roy Fokker and Steven Hiller were the only two left. The invisible enemy seemed satisfied with their work and stopped the assault. "What happened?" Fokker exclaimed. A grim- "don't worry about it." came from Hiller. "Let's head back to base." "What kind of response is that? Do you know something, Captain?" Hiller kept quiet. "Captain Hiller!" Roy called louder. "We just lost our squad! If you know something you'd better come forward!" "If you had just followed orders it wouldn't have happened like that!" Hiller snapped. "What are you talking about?" "We've been infiltrated, Roy! Another alien race has come to Earth! Only this time, they came the quiet way!" "Are you admitting to working with the enemy?" Fokker couldn't believe what he was accusing the war hero of. "Don't you see?" Hiller began to rant. "This is hopeless! We can't win! Aliens are going to keep coming and keep coming until one of them gets what they want! The only way to keep the human race from being wiped out is to surrender! Work out a way to live under them!" "Captain, that's treason at the highest level! I'm going to have to take you in!" Fokker maneuvered his fighter behind Hiller's. "You ain't taking nobody in, Roy!" Hiller shot up like a rocket, out of Fokker's line of fire. "You ain't coming back!" Fight Parameters Obviously, an aerial dog fight. Both men are piloting the same modern aircraft (which means Roy Fokker is not in a transforming Veritech!)
