Anticipating the request for a proper sparring area, the ship groaned for a few seconds. After some vicious trashing about, The Angel Steve finally settled, although now transformed.

A improvised ring was now set up in the middle of the ship, with hemp ropes stretching across the masts forming a square. Sandbags dropped out of the sky, some falling suspiciously close to Muggy, other sandbags materialized with ropes, serving as impromptu punching bags.

"Oh yeah, I forgot he could do that..." Erine said, cracking a cheeky grin. "It's magic right?"

Now the party had an appropriate space to soar, and show off their sick fighting moves.

"Ah, thank you Steve." Corvo said aloud gratefully.

....The man talked to a sword, it wasn't hard to realize he had a habit of assuming almost everything had something similar as he beamed beneath the mask and spread his hands.

"So shall we draw straws as to who goes first? Or have we any volunteers?"

"I'm good at hiding and throwing apples!" Behind the crew, Erine would shout out, jumping up and down to get their attention.

"My secret move is to hide behind something, and throw an apple really hard at their heads!"

She motioned as if she was throwing something, to emphasize her proficiency in the ability to throw fruit.

"Uh... Ya know, since we're supposed to protect you and all, you should probably stay out of fights anyway. But I'm glad to know what you can do if need be."

    Corvo hummed in thought.

"Be that as it may. It can't surely hurt to train her further to defend herself just in case? We won't have much time, but it may spell the difference between enough time for one of us to make it to her side in the worse case scenario. It helps also that a slingshot is an easy weapon."

"You never do spars and exercises with me, you're stuck fantasizing over the kitchen maid..." Jessamine complained, making herself heard to Corvo for the first time in a week. Despite that she was in fact, only a sword, if you squinted you could almost make out a little pouty face.

"You're too dangerous to be used in a spar. If I do draw you, it means someone is going to die."

Mentally, Corvo replied to Jessamine in a somber tone as he crossed his arms and spoke on. "Besides, I've been trying to talk to you for a while...And her name is Komi, not kitchen maid. She deserves that much. Other than you, how many others back home ever looked at us like we weren't cursed?"

There was a pause as he added. "And I do NOT fantasize about her....Do I?"

Aloud, he cleared his throat as he spoke. "Myself, I'm a jack of all trades. I can fling swords with my arcane training as you've all seen me do. I have enough skill with weapons that allow me to use any of them in a pinch. I can invoke curses and fire doesn't hurt me as much. I also can fly so I can switch between melee to ranged without much difficulty."

He spread open a wing to reveal Jessamine on his hip as he added. "But I'm deadliest with my partner. We take care of each other and most of my techniques are devoted to how I can fight with her as one. Speaking of which, yes...My sword is a woman. Please address her kindly if you must and know that I consider her as much a part of our group as the rest of you." He let his wing drop down and waited for the rest.

"O-of course!" Komi went to follow Corvo, her curiosity and her loyalty to him invoked in full.

Clara would make her way to the top of the deck, with curiosity, to see what Corvo has in store for everyone. "Alright, Corvo, what's the big news? We're not going to try fishing again, are we?"

Actually, the idea came from something else entirely.

    1 hour ago, SSJRuss said:

"What happened to Elbine was meant to strengthen our team. We were always destined to be here and for that to happen. It's the way this funny life works."

Anyway, Corvo would be waiting for everyone on the top deck. Hands in the pockets of his coat and his wings out and wrapped around his shoulders like a cape, the Tiefling humming a sea shanty before looking at them all.

"So! I've called you all here because while we are aware of each other's capabilities? We've no experience in seeing them in action or learning to work alongside each other. I'd like to change that today with a series of spars and exercises. Tests to determine our skills and see if we can't create a few teamwork combinations by the end of today. Any questions?"

     He looked over the party.

  5. Just now, SSJRuss said:

    Glad you like it.

    Ken who?

And as for the fight, I think Batman knows about Beetlejuice. They are both figments of Michael's mind after all. They have form so they can fight but I don't think they can kill each other. They just want to take dominance over Michael so they need to weaken the other.

Michael Keaton played Ken from the Barbie line of toys in one of the Toy Story movies.

  6. Just now, SSJRuss said:

OOC: Would you share with Farley your feeling towards Komi?

OOC: Naw, but he would engage him in debates over philosophy. On the sanctity of life, what measure of worth is a person, etc. He'd also admit being a Tiefling troubles him at times, but it's given him perspective not to judge on looks but on deeds.

  7. Corvo nodded to Komi and after a few moments he beamed and clapped his hands.

"I have something special for today! So everyone if you please, come up on deck as soon as you're ready within ten minutes!" And with this mysterious bit, Corvo would get up and strode for the door. His tail flicking out briefly, the Tiefling much more relaxed about his fiendish parts at this point.

Act 2 - Adventures At High Sea

It has now been one week since The Angel Steve has left the port of Eastrun. One week of peaceful sailing, the ship being at a relatively fast pace across the southern border of Criorther. The food is bountiful for the group, as there is no lack of fish to catch and cook.

Muggy and Farley shared a room together in the Captain's cabin, Corvo and Komi in one of the crew cabins, Clara and Erine in another, and finally Cliff by himself.

A quiet morning it has been, the sun shining down on our adventurous bunch. The group are together now, enjoying a breakfast of fish, discussing their next step.

    b3c8a6ca1bff185c33ccf33a87798398.jpg

Corvo was in equal parts heaven and hell.

The job was wonderful. Being at sea did wonders for him, exercising by doing flying laps around the ship as well as harpooning whatever he could when he flew. He enjoyed the chance to know his teammates, the confines giving him an insight into their personality.

He even found a chance to leave the bedroll by Clara and their clients door with no one seemingly the wiser. He enjoyed his roommate.

A little too much to the point he was discomfited.

What innocence and a life in the Abbey had obscured, puberty and a lack of supervision made him realize how much his friend had grown. Both in her confidence as well as...Well, a woman.

He felt guilty at first and wondered if he should bunk with Cliff. Then he realized that might offend her, and he was a professional after all. He could handle this.

Jessamine had been no help, his attempts at seeking aide always leaving him feeling like he did something wrong from her tone. In the end, all he could do was chalk it up to women in general and seek Cliff or Farley out for manly time or discourse. But he was no longer ignorant. The question was...What exactly does on do about it in this situation?

At the table, he'd be helping set up before he opted to go last for his food. And after he ate, asked aloud.

"How's our water supply? Is there a need to restore it anytime soon?"

He tried not to feel how much more aware he seemed to be now, a faint scent he identified with Komi by now wafting past his face as she'd turn her head.

I did some digging and apparently the grey eye power thing can only be done against Grimm . So is there any other ways for Team RWBY to subdue Taz before he seriously messes them up?

Ruby discovers he likes to eat and shares her cookie stash.

Cue some sudden, best friends shenanigans as they realize he's not just an animal and do a super team up.

All seriousness, Taz isn't a bad guy. Just hungry all the time and he can be reasoned with if you appeal to his stomach.

“Uh...Erine...” he looked wide eyed at the flopping bag of sand, trying to not make any sudden movements, “Is this a regular occurrence on the magic boat?”

"Be careful. I hear they can smell fear." Drawled Corvo, walking calmly by as he looked and realized they'd have to share rooms.

Without thinking of the implications, he said simply.

"Komi, do you want to be my roommate? It would be nice to have someone who keeps the same schedule."

Onboard the ship however, it seemed like it was bigger than what it looked on the outside. The captain's cabin was located on the deck, a spacious room for Muggy. Below deck was the rest of the chambers, the party will have to share rooms of 2 it seemed. Fishing tools such as rods and nets adorned the sides of the ship, it seems food would consist of mostly what they caught. The ship also had harpoons and a badass cannon.

Oswulf marked the location of Essealis on the maps, and traced what would seem the fastest trail. Cut through the islands that divided Criorther from the Djansaima Sands, and it was a straight shot.

This looked straightforward enough and he was getting excited about the journey.

  11. Just now, OMFG said:

My name is Erine Clarillard, I entrust my life to you. Whatever I may do the help, dont be afraid to ask!" Putting her hands together, she looks up at the party, her eyes a window into her gentle soul.

"Should we find anything your skills may aid us, we shall do just that. Now unless there's anything else, I'd like to get to the ship now. The more we familiarize ourselves with it, the better we can do our job." Corvo said with a firm nod.

Clara would spend her 2 hours with Komi and Corvo in shopping along with them. Despite growing up her entire life around people with nobility and wealth, she forgets how quickly money can be spent as the last 5 pieces of gold she had is spent on the herbalist kit in order to make the healing potions. Clara is quite ecstatic to purchase this new kit, but is also a little upset because she'll have to wait a little longer to buy a decent bedroll.

Corvo had all that he needed. Using a combination of his arcane abilities and skills,he barely needed more than the bare minimum of equipment which suited him fine. Which was why, upon noticing the deficiency in Clara's equipment, he very quietly bought an extra bedroll suitable for the outdoors without sacrificing comfort and opted to leave it by her with an anonymous note later.

Rest was important after all and for better or worse, they would be working extensively. He would give her one more chance as well as look out for his companions as normal. Though without the thanks people usually did such tasks for.

That said, it appears their new escort mission seemed to have quite the effect on their party.

Muggy caught the scroll that was thrown to him, and had to reach a bit out of the way to catch the keys as well.

He was already fantasizing. He saw it clear as day in his mind, he and Erine (what a lovely name), both pulling on ropes and tying knots in unison to save the mast against a storm.  Barking sailor jargon at the other party members as they scrambled to keep up with their shipply duties. Best case scenario, during a beautiful sunset, he'd find her at the boat's wheel and he could come up behind her, put his fins on her hands and they could steer together. And, he was the only one with a dedicated room. With a bed. Which would statistically be the safest place to place their more precious cargo. If the safest place, for her, was his room, that's fate.

"We won't let you down, sir!" he saluted to their benefactor, "Not one plank on your ship nor one hair on you dobber will be harmed in our care." He turned to Erine, "You'll be safe with us, young miss, I can't wait to see your father's ship to see what we are working with, tell me what is her name?"

Komi fussed with her gear a little and looked around at the stuffy man and his pleasant daughter. "We will do all that we can to keep you safe, Mistress Erine. Won't we, Corvo?"

She looked to her friend for support while nodding and smiling. Helping people was Komi's main joy in life, and she meant to enjoy this long trip to the fullest. She'd never been on a ship before! It was sure to be a great adventure, and her curiosity was piqued, to be sure.

"The Lost Sea? I'm suddenly much more interested. Been on a canoe down a river, swam in some lakes and ponds, but never been on the open ocean. This should be fun."

She seemed to have charmed the majority of his companions, Corvo content to stay back for now to avoid smothering the poor girl with introductions. To Komi he gave another eye smile, nodding once as he spoke.

"Quite. I can't wait to get on the ship too."

All that open water meant he could fly to his heart's content without worry for torch or pitchforks by deranged villagers!

This coat was nice, but his wings felt so cramped

    Ding Dong...Ding Dong...Ding Dong

The clocktower struck noon, signalling the time for Squad C to gather their supplies have passed.

Drondos had informed them that the merchant they were supposed to meet would be waiting for them at the entrance of Eastrun, here they would find him and his daughter.

    20200818_151147.png

Corvo was prepared and ready for anything.

He was also in a cheerful mood. The sun was shining, Komi was here and there was a mission to be had. A task within their power.

As far as he was concerned, he was going to give this a hundred percent and he nodded to the two.

"Greetings sir! The Workers Of Requisite, Sly and Egnimatic Solutions are here to assist!"

  14. Just now, The Boob Tube said:

Clara speaks up the moment she hears Komi talk about shopping. "Actually I wouldn't mind tagging along. If I'm going to be putting together those healing potions, I need to get the right ingredients for this to work."

It was true that Corvo held a low opinion of Clara right now. But that did not extend to pettiness and he extended the olive branch as he said courteously.

"That's fine with me. So we can add an apocathery to our list of places to visit. In a town with a guild like ours I'm sure they'd have something. I need a new bedroll myself."

Komi tugged at Corvo's sleeve. "I need to buy new cooking tools, and probably fishing gear... oh and soap, and probably a tent. I wasn't allowed to take the cooking tools I used at the Temple. So, maybe I could go with you?"

That sounded like a good idea and he nodded, looking to the others.

"We'll see you all later then unless you want to join us."

    And off they went.

She looked down and held her hands in front of her. "I found the key to getting people's attention is to speak softly enough to where they have to really listen."

Komi nodded. "I would like to meet all of your adventuring friends, Corvo, and tell them of what I can do."

After a moment or two she cleared her throat and raised her hand a little.  "I can speak elvish, so that might help, right?"

    Sounds like a plan then.

But not when they had to prepare for a mission in so little time. "Tonight at dinner then, whenever that may be on our mission. In the meantime, who wants to come along with me?"

He looked around and added. "I'm going to see about some equipment I might need. Shall we meet at the appointed place for our client till then?"

  17. Just now, OMFG said:

Please stop hitting on the maid Corvo, it's weird. As for your question, consider the fire matter taken care for, I'll send Squad B to investigate, they're more magically inclined."

"Hitting-oh! Hahaha." He chuckled as he nodded to Komi fondly.

"We grew up in the same group together at the Abbey. She's a friend of mine. Speaking of which Komi, we should catch up after. Actually, we could make it a group meal." The idea sounded better as he added to everyone in general.

"I would like to go over our first mission and then we can identify each other's strengths and weaknesses, for better synergy I'm future. It'll also be a great way to let Komi catch up and get to know all of you. Who's up for it?"

  18. Just now, michalecs said:

Komi blushed a little and stood up. She stepped over to him and smiled slightly. She was in her battle gear now, and ready to help. "I'll help you, Corvo. After all, you were the one who encouraged me to leave the temple and come to Eastrun to begin with. Whatever you need me to do, I'll do my best!"

She looked around, hoping others would join in as well. "We should all do our best together... okay?"

    komi in gear.jpg

It would be nice to team up with an old friend from the Abbey. Corvo gave a grin beneath his face mask, eyes curled up in a way to indicate he was smiling as he nodded to her.

    Just now, OMFG said:

Drondos snickered, amused at his fishy friend.

"Well now my fish boy, I'm across you are not high enough ranked in the guild to attempt anything higher than bronze ranked requests. Worry not, as you advance you will be able to accept missions for higher ranks, and higher danger. Just now before you arrived Squad A and their captain Enible the noble paladin just accepted a gold ranked mission, you will get there "

He reached into his desk, fumbling around locating something.

"Fine, fine, take the maid with you if you must. I suppose I'll just have to clean the guild up myself. Darn youngsters..."

After a few moments of fiddling, he was able to locate the requests for which he searched.

"Ah, here we are! Squad C, you are in luck as there two requests from which you can select one to complete. They are both similar and ranked and similarly rewarding..."

"The first, made by one of our guild members, ex-adventurer Kraster Dinkleton seeks a company of adventurers to escort a valued family heirloom safely to the town of Erwick. The town is not far, and I will be able to mark it on your maps if accepted."

He pulled out a second form.

"Another escort request, the cargo this time being a human. An merchant named Oswulf seeks a company of adventurers to escort his daughter safely to the elven city of Essealis. The mission will be completed once she is safely in the hands of Uncle Rythan, who is currently residing at an inn there."

Drondos studied the group carefully, his face conveying no emotion.

    "So, what so you decide?"

Corvo considered carefully before he finally spoke. "So we have a choice between the fire investigation, and the two escorts? Personally I'd love to visit the Elven City."

  19. Just now, Bergy_Berg said:

Cliff retrieves his axe. "Corvo farted, though he won't admit it. No big deal.

"I told you if it was me, you'd be dead." Corvo bantered back, hearing of the fiery destruction.

That said, this WAS something more serious as he asked. "How much leeway do we have in investigating this and are we expected to liase with local authorities?"

  20. Just now, OMFG said:

Drondos looked Corvo in the eyes, a warm smile brightened up his face.

"It seems plenty good has come from what you've done. According to this letter, Bertha and her gang decided to return home, given that the city guard take care of some people that caused the women to lash out. You worked well as a team...well the majority did...You've gained experience, and learned to be a leader. Trust me, I've seen many experienced adventurers who would've disregarded my request to spy on the bandit camp, and would've attacked."

Taking his attention off of Corvo, addressing the rest of the party.

"Now, the rest of you lot, ask your questions, get rid of your doubts."

    Oh.

Corvo was confused and a little bewildered as he tried to make sense of it. Before deciding to think better of it for now as he asked.

"One more thing sir...Group C is short a member now." He glanced at Komi as he added casually.

"We could use a healer and diplomat."

  21. Just now, OMFG said:

Elbine is dead .. that's rough buddy. I assumed she was one of the bad ones. Hiding her gender might've fooled the common man, but that is something that I am not. Young Corvo, do not be disheartened over morality. As much as it pains to say, the missions that you take are for the good of the realm. Sometimes, certain things will conflict with your personal views, that is to be expected. I trust you as a member of the guild to make the right decision when it comes down to it."

"But what was the point, sir?"

Corvo stood tall, his voice breaking briefly as he looked at the old man and asked.

"What good is there to be found in anything that happened to us?"

On the path back to Eastrun, Farley would spend a little more quality time with the group. He'd tell them stories of his past travels and the interesting things he has encountered. He'd also enjoy his stops along the way with Muggy to get water. He found Muggy to be funny and glad he could meet someone who liked water so much.

Just now, The Boob Tube said:

On the way back to Eastrun, Clara would make small talk to Cliff, Muggy, & Farley just to get to know them a little bit better. She would also read up on her spellbooks to see if she could learn some new magic tricks along the way back. Clara would be absolutely blunt towards Corvos for a while, the young magi just needed a little bit more time to process things that had transpired throughout the last week since leaving the guild.

Corvo knew he would be challenged when he stepped out of the Ravenholde Abbey.

He didn't expect it to be from his own companions, but so be it. He was content turning it over in his mind that he did the right thing. When it came down to it, when someone was seeking to harm Innocents? The skill he had honed was enough to overcome it. All he had to do was keep fighting.

That said, the travel back was much more pleasant despite everything as he formed his opinions of each person.

Cliff, despite his barbaric exterior was a sentient of forethought. He considered before he struck, took it upon himself like Corvo to keep peace and raised his weapon as a last resort from what Corvo understood. Despite the fact he had left the talks with Bertha to them, Corvo suspected had there been no other choice he would have done his best irregardless.

Strong too...Corvo had asked for a spar one night and found himself pleasantly hard-pressed. Out of all of them, he felt a bond with Cliff forged in empathy for being men of thought and action.

Muggy was an innocent soul despite everything. Corvo found himself charmed by how he worried he had done evil, especially when all he did was hold still as he was in no position to help lest the crazed Tabaxi fire an arrow in their guts. He was earnest and well meaning, willing to learn and seemed to forge a friendship with Farley over their shared heritage.

Farley he liked. The monk shared values similar to his own and did his best to fill the air with stories of his travels. Of places that the Tiefling had never seen before, save in stories and books. He was a well-traveled soul and it showed in his patience and the serenity he excuded. Which left the last member, whom he had a rather low opinion of at this point.

Despite knowing what Elbine would have done, as well as the rather creepy (in hindsight) fixiation on her over the past few days, she still acted as if it would have been preferable if one of the others had died in place of Elbine. Would she still act like this if Muggy had been buried? Cliff? Farley? He didn't know. All he knew was that for some reason, she took closer to heart the actions of a violent, arrogant, deliberately anti-social Tabaxi with no honor than she seemingly did her living teammates.

It colored his perception of her and he made a mental note to keep an eye on her in future if they stuck together. He didn't need the delusions of someone whose mindset resembled that of an abused spouse continually making excuses for those undeserving. And so he was nothing more than polite but no further with her. The first impressions were the lasting ones after all.

And then all too soon, the rooftops of Eastrun was before them.

    Just now, OMFG said:

The city remained as it was when they left, it had been a week since the party departed on their first official adventure. What was meant to be a simple scouting mission, ended up in the betrayal and slaying of a companion. Here's to see how exactly Drondos, the guild master would react. Also, how the guild would react to Drondos now that they know he was the cause for the bandits in the first place.

Towards the Adventurer's Guild moan house, sat Drondos on his stool. He was busy going over some paperwork, humming contently to himself. He spoke to the party without glancing at them, knowing who walked in before they entered.

"Ah, welcome back, welcome back. Tell me, how did you fare? Were you able to figure out the reason of the banditry?"

    Just now, Bergy_Berg said:

Cliff walks up to the table where Drondos is going over the papers, raises his axe high, and buries it in the table, making sure to split through the largest stack of papers visible.

He lets out a low, snarling growl. "We are very unhappy with you. A fucking toilet seat?"

Corvo was of a like mind. His glare took advantage of his fiendish heritage, livid in the coldness radiating off him as he kept a hand on his sword. And then Clara made to speak. Perhaps she would talk about the loss of potential Innocents? How it cost merchants on the road who otherwise might have traded with Eastrun, or the fact that the guild master had kept this from them-.

Just now, The Boob Tube said:

"I know, right?" Clara speaks up as well, "Do you know how infuriating that is when guys do that all the time? I honestly don't blame Bertha for living out there like that."

....Corvo could feel his opinion sinking even lower of the wizard. Perhaps he shouldn't have expected anything more. But then he actually was shocked out of his anger. Not enough, but to a point where he could behave without raising his voice.

    Just now, OMFG said:

Also, Komi was hanging out with Drondos.

    Komi was here!

He gave her a nod of greetings, a small smile splitting his face behind the mask before he turned to the guild master and spoke.

"We are all angry, yes...But I find myself disappointed. These bandits are worse than normal ones. They at least do not pretend that there is anything noble in what they do. But these? They target folks for no reason than a twisted ideology. They cripple people, rob them of anything they need to survive and leave them to die, claiming it's not murder. I had thought they had an actual cause that we may try to address them. I had thought we were going to help people who had been abused and thought this was their only recourse left. To find out that it was all a lie and over such a banal issue infuriated me. And against our worse instincts, we left them quietly and unmolested...Though not on a lack of trying from one of our number."

His mouth curled beneath the mask in a snarl as he spoke. "Elbine is dead. We had to rescue him from his wounds after he tried to attack them and when we opted for peaceful methods, he went ahead and ambushed us in an attempt to strong arm us into following him. He threatened to shoot us if we made a move against him and I warned him and gave him an ultimatum to surrender. He did not. And I did my duty."

He reached into his lapel, pulling out his badge for the guild as he weighed it in hand.

And then he placed it gently on the desk.

"Tell me there is something behind this. Tell me that we did not go through all this trouble, that all these had been ignored because of a toilet seat. If not...Then consider this my resignation."

He didn't need a badge to do good in the world.

And he had a feeling some of this group would follow him anyway, his eyes meeting Komi as a touch of his stress shone through his eyes.
