Boratz Posted May 12 Read Aloud Posted May 12 II. 3 THE winds across the jagged plains of Eternia carried the bitter scent of smoke and molten metal. Scattered pieces of shattered machinery lay embedded in the dirt like the remains of some fallen mechanical beast. Deep grooves had been carved into the stone by plasma fire while scorched craters still hissed with heat. At the center of the battlefield stood Mekaneck, bent forward with his hands on his knees as he struggled to catch his breath. Oil dripped from a fresh burn across his armor while the gears inside his extended mechanical neck clicked loudly as they retracted back into place. Far above him, disappearing into the storm clouds, a twisted metallic craft vanished into the sky. The battle itself was close, but in the end, Mekaneck was able to overcome the stranger that arrived at Eternia. With no other choice, Vultureman fled before he could be captured. Mekaneck slammed a fist against a nearby rock formation. “So close…” Heroic Human Periscope grumbled while looking up in the sky. The shriek of a skysled engine echoed through the canyon moments later. Dust spiraled outward as another transport descended onto the battlefield. Man-At-Arms stepped out first, his eyes immediately scanning the devastation with the instincts of a seasoned tactician. Beside him emerged Teela, her hand already resting on the hilt of her sword. Towering behind them came Fisto, his massive metal hand clenched tightly as he surveyed the damage in silence. Duncan, Teela, and Fisto arrived on a skysled to provide aid to their comrade while accessing the area where the battle had occurred. A proud look came over Fisto's face as he looked over the battlefield before turning his glance at Mekeneck. Even though Duncan was happy that the hero was able to fend off an attack from a strange new enemy, he could not help but feel that the implications of what was happening on Eternia and in the universe were far from over. This was the second attack in Eternia from beings far that were strangers to this world. Whether Skeletor was behind this or not, he knew all too well that there would be more dangers to come. Teela on the other hand was thrilled that her fellow warrior was able to put a stop to the stranger before any more damage could be done. Fisto shared in the same confidence as Teela and even longed for a battle against a strange new foe. Teela was the first to speak. “What happened here?” Mekaneck looked toward the darkened horizon. “That thing called itself Vultureman. I’ve never seen weapons like he did before. He wasn’t from Eternia.” Man-At-Arms crouched beside a ruined fragment of metal and lifted it carefully. Strange circuitry glowed faintly beneath the surface. “No…” he muttered. “This technology is unlike anything Skeletor possesses.” Fisto’s heavy boots crushed pieces of scrap beneath him as he walked forward. “So now more strangers are dropping out of the sky trying to conquer Eternia too?” he growled. “As if Skeletor wasn’t enough trouble.” Teela folded her arms, though her expression remained confident. “He-Man defeated that sorcerer and now Mekaneck as defeated this thing. These strangers have certainly underestimated our strength.” "Just because we have won a few battles does not mean that we should be lower our guard. We still do not know anything about these strangers or the power that they possess." Man-At-Arms muttered. Duncan's eyes then shifted and turned towards Mekaneck. "Do you know what he was after?" "He was siphoning Eternium... He even attacked a poor farmer..." Mekaneck replied while shaking his head in disbelief. Man-At-Arms studied the damaged machinery carefully before crossing his arms. "I felt like it wasn't just Eternium that it was after. I felt like it was studying me, studying us." Mekaneck said while gesturing at the other heroic warriors and his surroundings. Fisto’s eyes narrowed, and a furrowed expression came over him. “Then next time we make sure there isn’t a retreat.” Lightning crackled across the distant sky. For a moment, none of them spoke. Eternia suddenly felt far larger, and far less recognizable than what they were accustomed to. After the moment of silence, Man-At-Arms commanded the other Heroic Warriors to return with him to the Royal Palace of Eternos. Fisto took Mekaneck to be treated for the injuries that he had sustained in his battle with Vultureman while Teela followed the Man-At-Arms to meet with King Randor. As they sauntered through the palace, they could overhear Orko performing a few of his childish tricks in front of Prince Adam and Cringer. While passing the Courtyard where Orko, Adam, and Cringer were; Adam made eye contact with the Man-At-Arms. With the look in Duncan's face, Adam knew all too well that there was something wrong. Despite this knowledge, he tried to keep up the appearance of the care-free prince. As the Man-At-Arms and Teela disappeared out of sight, the prince glanced down at his fearless friend. With the look that Duncan had in his eyes, they knew that there were more dangers lurking in the horizon, and the brave Man-At-Arms was going to bring what he had uncovered to King Randor. Far beyond Eternia, Across space, time, and through unusual dimensions that were connected by ancient sorcery; a darkness gathered within the Black Pyramid of Mumm-Ra on Third Earth. The thin and delicate balance of these different universes and dimensions had been fractured using advanced science and dark magic. Splinters and shockwaves had spread across space and time while a multitude of dimensions had been hurt by these fractures. Within the Black Pyramid of Mumm-Ra, Green fire erupted around the chamber as a beam of energy struck the stone floor. Metal wings scraped violently against the ground as Vultureman crashed onto one knee before the towering ancient evil. Mumm-Ra’s burning eyes narrowed beneath his shadowed wrappings. “You return in failure.” Vultureman lowered his head cautiously. “The warriors of Eternia were stronger than expected. Their technology is dangerous, and their power...” “Excuses!” Mumm-Ra hissed. The chamber trembled as his voice echoed like thunder through the pyramid walls. Vultureman shook as he became overwhelmed with fear. The crafty opportunist and chief inventor for the Mutant of Plun-Darr quickly corrected himself. “But Eternia possesses enormous potential. Their weapons, their mystic energy… if harnessed properly, even the ThunderCats could fall before you.” At that, Mumm-Ra became still. The silence itself felt dangerous. Slowly, the ancient sorcerer turned toward a glowing vision forming within the air. The image revealed Castle Grayskull standing beneath Eternia’s twin moons. Power radiated from it like a living storm. Mumm-Ra’s expression twisted with fascination. Even though Vultureman failed in obtaining the Eternium, they learned more of this world. This world is filled with barbarians and sorcerers, as well as technology and magic. Despite the fractures and splinters spreading throughout the multitude of universes, Mumma-Ra found himself obsessed with the power that lied within Eternia. “Yes…” The dark sorcerer whispered. “I can feel it. Ancient power beyond even the Sword of Omens.” Vultureman dared not interrupt. Mumm-Ra raised his arms toward the darkness above. “Eternia will not resist me forever.” From the shadows behind the throne room emerged another figure. The figure was bulky and domineering. Entering the chamber with broad shoulders while his armor decorated with spikes and savage trophies. The Mutant Commander, Ratar-O stepped forward with a cruel grin stretching across his rat-like face. His long tail lashed behind him while his clawed hands tightened around the pair of Rat’s Eye daggers that he carried with him. “You summoned me, Ancient Spirits?” Mumm-Ra turned slowly. “There are fools on another world that believe strength alone will save them. You will show them otherwise.” Ratar-O chuckled darkly. “A new world to plunder? Sounds fun.” The Mutant leader boasted before a mischievous grin formed across his face. Mumm-Ra extended his hand. A swirling portal of black lightning opened across the chamber that extended across space and time. The portal was among countless others that caused additional shockwaves and fractures through the endless multitude of universe. An image appeared through the portal, revealing Eternia on the other side. “You will travel there. Learn their weaknesses and find what powers that you can steal.” Mumma-Ra commanded as he glared upon the Mutant commander. Ratar-O rolled his shoulders eagerly. “And if they resist?” Mumm-Ra’s eyes burned brighter. “Then crush them!” Without hesitation, Ratar-O stepped into the portal. The gateway exploded shut behind him. Night had fallen across Eternia by the time the Mutant commander arrived on the rocky outskirts near the Vine Jungle. With the boosters in his shoes, the deadly commander took to the skies to scope out the area. Meanwhile, After taking Mekaneck to be treated for his wounds, Fisto left the Royal Palace behind. While Duncan and Teela stayed behind to meet with King Randor, the Reliable One with the Iron Fist knew that more threats would soon make themselves known. The Heroic Master of Hand-to-Hand Combat wanted some time to himself before these threats came and a new battle began. While taking a moment to breathe and be alone, he felt something in the pit of his chest. Even though nothing seemed out of the ordinary for Eternia, something was off. On this night, Fisto felt something was wrong. The forests had become unnaturally quiet. Even the night creatures had stopped making noise. Fisto’s horse suddenly reared backward in terror. A shadow moved across the cliffside above. Then came laughter. Harsh, mocking, and predatory laughter. Fisto dismounted instantly while raising his metal fist high overhead. “Show yourself!” The Heroic Warrior demanded. Heavy footsteps echoed across the rocks overhead. Two glowing red eyes appeared first within the darkness before the enormous figure of Ratar-O slowly emerged into the moonlight. The mutant warrior looked Fisto up and down with visible amusement. “So, this is Eternia?” Ratar-O sneered and snickered. “I expected stronger-looking warriors.” Fisto’s jaw tightened. “And I’ve seen sewer rats that appear tougher than you.” Ratar-O’s wicked grin widened instantly. “Oh, I’m going to enjoy this place.” The Mutant commander pulled out his pair of Rat's Eye daggers and stepped forward to face off against his new enemy. Fisto's eyes furrowed before planting his feet firmly into the dirt. He looked over this strange new foe while clenching his metal hand into a powerful fist. Neither warrior moved as they faced off against one another. The wind howled violently between them before both warriors charged forward at once. Quote

leroypowell3 Posted May 16 Read Aloud Posted May 16 Ratar-o was kind of exaggerated in my opinion. Outside of his into in the cartoon he never did anything in subsequent media. Still I think he can take Fist-o who doesn't seem to have the right kind of abilities to take this guy out. 1 Quote
Venom 2009 Posted May 17 Read Aloud Posted May 17 Good match. Hard to tell who would win here. I'm going to go with what @leroypowell3 said, and vote for Ratar-O. 1 Quote
