She had come seeking a legendary alchemical text rumored to contain formulas capable of amplifying magical power. Anything that could make her spells louder, flashier, and more devastating was worth the trip. And, of course, she imagined the dramatic pose she’d strike once she mastered it. Her booming laugh echoed through the broken stone corridors. “OOOHOHOHOHO! Soon the world shall tremble before the improved might of Naga the Serpent!” A faint hiss answered her. Naga paused. “Hmm? A snake? A monster? Or perhaps an admirer?” From the shadows, a figure glided forward—elegant, pale, and smiling with unsettling delight. A.K.I., the serpentine assassin of Shadaloo, traced a claw along a cracked pillar as she approached. “My, my… such a loud creature wandering into my little testing ground,” A.K.I. purred. “I came for the same book. But I don’t share.” Naga flipped her hair dramatically. “You dare challenge me? I am the beautiful, brilliant, overwhelmingly powerful Naga the Serpent!” A.K.I.’s smile widened. “Beautiful? Powerful? Oh, I adore delusions. They make the moment of collapse so much sweeter.” The air thickened with venomous intent. Naga planted her hands on her hips. “If you think you can intimidate me, you’re sorely mistaken. I’ve fought dragons, demons, and—most terrifying of all—Lina Inverse’s cooking.” A.K.I. tilted her head. “I’m not here to intimidate you. I’m here to see what happens when poison meets a woman who laughs too much.” Her nails dripped with a shimmering violet toxin. Naga’s eyes lit up. “A challenge, then! Very well! Prepare yourself for the wrath of Naga the Serpent!” A.K.I. stepped forward, graceful and deadly. “Let’s see if your magic can keep up with my venom.” The ruins trembled as two serpents—one magical, one toxic—prepared to strike.
