SSJRuss Posted April 7 Read Aloud Posted April 7 Yamcha steadied himself as Jennifer lunged, her nails slashing through the air. He raised his arms in a desperate block, catching her blows. He buckled under her surprising strength. Whoever this was, she certainly wasn't the girl he knew. She was relentless, and even though he could beat her in raw combat skill, his battered body and broken ribs left him on the defensive. He tried to back away, arms raised in a guarded stance. “Jennifer, please—stop!” he pleaded, even as she delivered another vicious slash across his chest, tearing at his flesh and leaving a trail of blood. Yamcha clenched his teeth and forced down a cry of pain. “Come on, Yamcha-baby. Don't you want to play?” She hissed, circling him like a wolf closing in on wounded prey. “I'll help you see your little friend again. I promise." She grinned crimson. Her last words hardened Yamcha’s resolve, drawing the last of his strength to find an opening. He spotted the senzu bean pouch lying on the floor a few yards away. "Maybe," he thought. Then she sprang forward, nails aimed at his throat. Desperate, Yamcha made a dive for it. But Jennifer anticipated his move. She streaked across the room in a blur, intercepting him with a kick to the gut that sent him crashing into a pillar. Yamcha’s body screamed with agony. He coughed, tasting blood in his mouth. “You never learn,” Jennifer snarled, stepping toward him. “Let me end this.” She grabbed him by the collar of his tattered gi, lifting him off his feet. Her face inched closer, fangs bared, ready to clamp down on his neck in a final, fatal bite. “I’m sorry, Jennifer,” he whispered under his breath, raising two fingers to his forehead. “Solar Flare!” A blinding flash of light exploded from Yamcha’s body. Jennifer shrieked, dropping him as she staggered back, both arms thrown up to shield her eyes. “Ah—what the f— did you—?!” Her voice was panicked and incoherent. She swiped uselessly at the air, blinded by the brilliant burst of light. When her vision cleared moments later, she saw Yamcha standing several feet away, his back facing her. His wounds were gone, and his posture had changed, more upright, as if in far less pain. “While you were blinded, I finally got a senzu bean,” Yamcha said softly, his tone serious. “Now I’m back to full strength. And… I realize now it was you who killed Puar. You used me.” Jennifer’s mouth curled into a mocking smile, even though a hint of panic flickered behind her eyes. She opened her mouth to deny it, to spin another lie, but Yamcha didn’t give her the chance. “Enough,” he said, whirling around and thrusting both palms forward. “Kamehamehaaaaaaaa!!!!!!” The beam of ki tore across the chamber, enveloping Jennifer before she could react. Her screams of rage and pain echoed against the palace walls. A moment later, she was gone, all that left in her place a scorch mark on the floor. Silence settled over the room, and Yamcha stood motionless, his arms still extended, chest heaving with emotion. Slowly lowering his hands, he hung his head. “Jennifer…” he murmured, tears brimming in his eyes. Even after all she’d done, he couldn’t erase the memory of who he thought she was. Just then, a familiar voice spoke from behind him, “Yamcha.” He spun to see Fortuneteller Baba floating toward him. She looked unharmed, but now she wore a faint halo over her head. “B-Baba?” Yamcha stammered, eyes wide. “How—” Baba scoffed. “You think King Yemma could keep me away? Please.” She waved a transparent hand in dismissal. “He’ll never tame this old witch. I came back because you earned what I promised you. So, I'll help you find the Dragon Balls.” “Puar… I have to bring him back. But how can I do that now that you’re—” “Dead?” Baba finished. “I can still honor our deal.” She tapped her floating crystal ball, and a glowing parchment manifested beside her. “Take this map. It’ll guide you to three of the Dragon Balls. They’re not far—just deeper into the desert, I suspect.” Yamcha breathed a sigh of relief. “Thank you, Baba. I… I’m so sorry.” Baba waved him off. “No time for tears, boy. You have a friend to revive.” She gave him a wry grin as her spirit flickered. “And one more thing—here.” With a quick gesture, a faint golden glow enveloped Yamcha’s shredded clothing, mending it in seconds. “You can’t go wandering around half-naked.” Yamcha bowed deeply. “Thank you, Baba. Really I mean it.” “Go on, then,” she said, already starting to fade. “Don’t keep your friend waiting. Being dead is such a —” Yamcha clutched the map to his chest and sprinted from the ruined palace. Dawn was creeping over the horizon. He moved through the barren desert landscape until the sun rose high and its heat bore down. The map’s enchanted markings guided him through rocky crags and dusty valleys, until at last he stood at the mouth of a cave high on a craggy hill. "Seems like this is the place, according to the map. Man, I sure hope no big, dumb bird has them in their nest. What a pain," Yamcha said, flying toward the cave entrance and venturing inside. Inside, the walls looked barren and sand washed. The deeper he ventured, the clearer he could hear a strange, guttural chattering echoing towards him. He silently hopped that whatever it was, it was friendly. Rounding a corner, he froze at the sight: A fire crackled beneath a huge black iron pot. Three Dragon Balls glimmered inside, bobbing amid boiling water. And standing over it, licking his chops, was a strange, furred creature spinning like a miniature tornado. “Raaaaargh! Taz hungry! Taz hungry! Taz hungry!!” the beast bellowed, coming to a halt. His furry arms scooped the sizzling Dragon Balls with a ladle, a long ribbon of drool hanging from his mouth. Yamcha stiffened. What… in the world is that thing? “Hey!” he called, stepping forward. The creature, Taz it called itself, froze mid-bite and stared at the intruder. “P-please don't eat those. I kinda ne-need them," Yamcha said, feeling awkward. Taz's wide eyes zeroing in on Yamcha. “Grrr—Man? Taz eat Man!” In a flurry, Taz charged in a chaotic whirlwind. Yamcha jumped back, bringing his arms up in defense. "I have no idea what this creature is…", he thought "but it’s not going to stop me now!" _______________________________________ Saiyan Arc Yamcha - Full Health. Three Senzu Beans. Culwych1 Posted April 7 Read Aloud Posted April 7 Brilliant to see this continuing. Yamcha definitely doesn't get enough praise as a character. He should take this. 1
Venom 2009 Posted Wednesday at 09:58 PM Read Aloud Posted Wednesday at 09:58 PM Nice to see you back with your Yamcha arc. I think Yamcha could win here. 1
SSJRuss Posted Wednesday at 10:23 PM Author Read Aloud Posted Wednesday at 10:23 PM Glad to get back to this! Yamcha was on such a streak and I couldn't just leave it like I did. So, he's hoping I have a few more in me That said, can Yamcha best toon-force? Maybe? Taz doesn't have a good track record for success. 1
JohnnyChany Posted Thursday at 01:28 AM Read Aloud Posted Thursday at 01:28 AM Great to see the return of Yamcha's adventures and the conclusion of his torrid one-sided romance with Jennifer. I am picking him here against Taz who I think eventually just looks for food elsewhere. 1
Yukimuraster90 Posted Thursday at 08:14 PM Read Aloud Posted Thursday at 08:14 PM Pretty nice match. I give it a 5.0. 1
