The neon lights of Metro City flickered as the final wave of Mad Gear thugs swarmed forward. Pipes and crowbars littered the streets of battle.

Skate Hunter darted forward.

“Alright! Let’s go!” Skate called out as his skates sparked against the asphalt.

He launched himself into motion, his body twisted low as he slid between two thugs. He swept their legs out with a spinning Skate Roll before popping up into a rapid series of punches.

“Too slow!” he laughed.

A pipe swung toward him, he ducked, then retaliated with a fast forward somersault kick that slammed into the attacker’s chest and sent him flying into a stack of crates.

Across the street, Lynn Baker moved with a different rhythm. Where Skate was speed, Lynn was control. She stepped into a group of enemies with calm precision; she laid out a thug with a palm strike. Another thug rushed her, she caught his arm, twisted, and drove a knee into his ribs before finishing with a sharp downward strike, that dropped him down instantly.

Despite her efficiency, Skate was faster. He weaved through enemies like a streak of lightning, jumping, flipping, chaining attacks together in a relentless flow. Within moments, he had carved a path straight through the chaos.

And at the end of that path sat Thrasher Damnd. The Mad Gear leader leaned forward on the steps, cracking his knuckles with a wicked grin.

“Well, well… kid made it first,” Damnd sneered. “Guess it’s time to put you to bed.”

Skate skidded to a stop, breathing hard but confident.

“You’re going down, man.”

“Yeah?” Damnd chuckled as he rose up “Let’s see what you got.”

Skate struck first, fast jabs, quick kicks, a spinning strike aimed at Damnd’s torso, but Damnd barely budged. The larger man grabbed Skate mid-motion and slammed him into the ground.

“Too light,” Damnd muttered.

Skate groaned, trying to roll away, but Damnd was already on him. Then, a knife flashed in Damnd’s hand.

“Game over, kid.”

Skate struggled to free himself. Before Damnd could bring the blade down A powerful strike smashed into his side. Lynn Baker had arrived.

“Back off,” she said firmly.

Damnd staggered and turned toward her with a snarl.

“The other one? Fine I'll put you both down.”

Lynn stepped forward, her stance tightening.

“You can try.”

The fight exploded instantly. Damnd lunged, but Lynn sidestepped and countered with a rapid elbow strike into a spinning back kick that snapped his head to the side. He retaliated with brute force and wild, but Lynn flowed maneuvered around them. She ducked low, then followed with a leaping strike. She drove her fist into his chest. Damnd staggered back. Lynn didn’t stop. She surged forward with a flash kick that saw flames surround her leg

“THIS ENDS NOW!”

She built up her chi and unleashed the Kouryuu Shouzan Ha fireball.  Damnd crashed into the pavement, where he remained unconscious.

Skate blinked. “…Whoa. That was cool.”

He pushed himself up slowly.

“You… you saved me.”

Lynn offered him a hand. “We’re competing, but we’re still on the same side.”

Skate hesitated, then took it. “Yeah… thanks.”

He looked down, his expression dimmed.

He sighed. “…Still lost, though. Cherry lost. Roo lost. And now me… we haven’t gotten a single point.”

He clenched his fists.

“I let my brother down… my whole team.”

Lynn shook her head. “You’re being way too hard on yourself.”

Skate looked up.

“You gave it everything you had. That’s what matters.”

She smiled slightly.

“And your team is not done. You still have Adam… and that cop lady, Estel.”

Skate considered this and a small grin returned to his face.

Yeah. Yeah!  Adam can beat anyone.” He crossed his arms confidently. “And Estel? She’s the toughest woman I’ve ever met… well…second to Blaze.”

Lynn chuckled. “Then your team still has a chance to show what it can do. Good luck to you and your team, Skate.”

“Yeah… you too, Lynn.”

The feed cut over to the Pao Pao Cafe and the tournament’s three hosts, Terry, Blue Mary, and Mai.

“Now THAT was something else!” stated Terry.

Blue Mary nodded. “The future of street justice is looking pretty bright.”

“Absolutely,” Terry agreed. “Skate’s got serious potential. Give him a few years, a little more muscle, he’s gonna be a monster.”

Mai Shiranui smiled. “And let’s not forget Team Dragon. Back-to-back wins from Marian and Lynn? That’s a serious comeback for their team.”

“It just shows how quickly things can change in this tournament,” Mary noted.

Terry snapped his fingers. “And speaking of change, let’s keep things moving!”

He turned to the camera dramatically.

“Next up… we’ve got a BIG one.”

Mai’s eyes sparkled. “Ohhh I’ve been waiting for this!”

Terry grinned. “Representing Team Blaze will be its captain, Blaze Fielding, and she will be in a challenge against Lucia Morgan of Team Haggar!”

Mai clasped her hands together. “Beautiful women beating down bad guys? Yes please!”

Mary smirked. “And they’re going to need all that toughness for this one.”

Terry gestured off-screen.

“That’s right Mary, because this one is a doozy and we’ve got a special guest to explain it to everyone.”

A poised woman in a suit stepped into frame. King adjusted her vest; her short blonde hair was neatly styled and her composed demeanor commanded attention.

“Good evening.”

Terry nodded. “King here agreed to work the bar and be a bouncer for us for this event, but she told me some troubling news the other day. King, thanks for joining us, can you please tell the people what you told me.”

She gave a polite nod then turned to the camera.

“There’s a problem in Southtown. Mr. Big is rebuilding his criminal empire.”

“For those unfamiliar with Mr. Big, care to explain?” Mai suggested.

King folded her arms.

“Mr. Big was once one of Southtown’s most powerful crime bosses… working under Geese Howard,” she stated: “He employed various strong fighters to assert his control in the city. I was even forced to work for him… until I met Ryo Sakazaki.”

Mai leaned in with a big grin. “Ooooh, was it love at first sight?”

King blushed. .“He… helped me escape. That’s all.”

She cleared her throat to continue.

“But now that Geese is gone… Mr. Big is making his move again. And he’s not alone. He’s somehow convinced two of his most dangerous enforcers to rejoin his ranks, Mickey Rogers and Jack Turner.”

” Ooh those are two fighting tournament veterans,” Mai noted.

“That’s right.”

“It certainly sounds like a stacked crew.” said Terry/

“Which means Blaze and Lucia have their work cut out for them,” Mary added.

King turned to face Terry. “Do you really think they are up to it?”

“Absolutely,” Terry replied with confidence. “and the first one to storm Mr. Big’s club and take down ALL of them wins the point!”

Mai tilted her head. “Wai, isn’t Blaze still at the Slamotorium for that Max Thunder and Hugo wrestling match?”

Terry's eyes widened. “That’s right. Hey Kevin, do you copy? If you are still with Team Blaze, you will need to let them know.”

The camera cut to Kevin Rian standing with Team Blaze inside Geese Tower. Behind him stood Axel Stone, Floyd, and Dr. Zan. Before he could say anything, Floyd stepped forward.

“I’ll go.”

“Huh?”

“I’ll replace Blaze in Max’s corner at the wrestling match,” Floyd explained. “I’m the freshest one here and I figure that match will have to end before my challenge comes around.”

Dr. Zan nodded. “A logical decision.”

Axel smiled. “Appreciate it.”

Floyd acknowledged his two teammates and then exited the tower.

Kevin looked around. “I know I’ve already told you, but I am so impressed you were able to clear out Geese Tower.”

“Wasn’t just me,” Axel responded. “Jimmy Lee played a big role too. It was a good challenge, but I’m glad we have been able to make this our team headquarters for the remainder of the tournament.”

“This tower does have a lot of aesthetic charm,” said Dr. Zan.

“It certainly does,” agreed Kevin. His face fell a little bit. “Which is why I know some other criminal outfit will probably come soon to try and claim it as their own.”

“If they come while Team Blaze still resides here, they will fail,” Dr. Zan proclaimed.

“Team Blaze,” Kevin repeated. “How did you guys end up with that? Why was Blaze chosen to be the leader?”

Axel shrugged. “It was an easy decision. Blaze holds us together.”

“She brought us all together the last time the Syndicate reappeared in Wood Oak City,” Dr. Zan explained.

“Her dedication to justice is unmatched,” Axel declared.

Kevin smirked. “Same dedication that gave her the gusto to punch a police commissioner? Don’t think I would have the gall to try that to my commissioner even if I knew he was dirty.”

“Fairly certain she would have cleaned his clock even if he wasn’t corrupt,” stated Axel. “She doesn’t put up with crap from anyone, and she has little patience for foolishness.”

“Leads me to believe she must be quite the strict dance instructor,” Dr. Zan hypothesized.

“I know I would make sure I had my lambada down if I were in her class,” Axel joked.

“Can’t wait to see that aggressiveness taking down Mr. Big’s crew,” said Kevin. “Let’s swing it over to Duck King who is with her opponent.”

The feed switched over to the mayor’s office in Metro City.  Duck King stood with Mayor Cody Travers and Officer Lucia Mogan.

“First things first, How’s Haggar doing after that brutal stand in the challenge against Hiryu?” asked Duck King.

Cody smirked. “He’s Haggar. He’ll be fine.”

“He’s the toughest guy in the world,” Lucia declared.” Also, Dean and Carlos are with him.”

Duck King smiled “Ok let’s move on then to your challenge against Blaze Fielding.”

Lucia exhaled. “That’s a lot of pressure.”

“Why do you say that?”

“There’s a long-standing rivalry between Metro City and Wood Oak City, specifically between Mayor Cody, Haggar, and Guy and Axel, Blaze, and Adam.” Lucia answered.

“She’s not wrong,” stated Cody. “Our exploits started around the same time, so we have always been compared to one another and even with the new friends who have come and gone to help us out the original trios are always pitted against one another. It’s a respectful but very real rivalry. I was actually a little surprised I wasn’t paired up with Axel in this tournament.”

“It’s a lot of history to step into,” Lucia lamented. “You add that to the fact that both Carlos and Haggar have already lost, I feel like..”

Cody interrupted. “You’ll be fine. When you think about it you were probably the right choice all along. You are the only actual cop in our group and all three of them started out as cops.”

“I never thought of it that way.”

“And hey you helped take  down the Skull Cross Gang and participated in the fifth World Warrior tournament. Blaze, as good as she is, didn’t do either of those things.”

Lucia smiled. “Thanks for the encouragement, Mr. Mayor.”

Meanwhile at the Slamatorium in Southtown, Hugo lifted Max Thunder and slammed him with a brutal powerbomb.

“Finish him, Hugo!” Poison shouted from ringside.

Max roared back and countered with a spinning slam of his own.

At that moment, Floyd arrived.

“Blaze. It’s time to go. Your challenge is about to start. Don’t worry I’ll stay here.”

Blaze nodded. She looked over to Poison then back to Floyd.

“Watch her.”

Floyd flexed his metallic arms. “She isn’t leaving my sight.”

Soon, outside Mr. Big’s club in Southtown, Blaze stepped into the neon glow Lucia was already there. They locked eyes.

Lucia spoke first. “No matter what, we take Mr. Big down.”

“Agreed.” Blaze smirked. “But I’m doing it first.”

Lucia clenched her fist. “I’m not going back a loser.”

“Good, that’s what I like to hear.” Blaze raised her fist. . “Let’s see what you’ve got.”

The two fist-bumped and their eyes never broke contact.

“Time to clean house,” Lucia said.

Blaze nodded. “Let’s kick some butt.”
