JohnnyChany Posted January 19 Read Aloud Posted January 19 90s EXTREME TEAM TOURNEY THE AUTHORITY: 1 Point THE BRIGADE: 1 Point WILDC.A.T.S.: Pending YOUNGBLOOD: Pending CYBERFORCE: 0 Points ULTRAFORCE: 0 Points The arena shook as Impact and Badrock charged one another for what felt like the hundredth time. Impact’s cybernetic frame was dented, Badrock’s rocky hide was cracked, chunks missing from his shoulders and chest. Dust fell from him with every breath. but his stance was still solid, feet planted like bedrock itself. They roared in unison. Impact drove forward with a fist slamming into Badrock’s chest at the exact same moment Badrock swung with everything he had left. Stone met steel with a deafening BOOM that rippled across the entire arena. The shockwave blasted outward, flattening debris, rattling the stands, and briefly blanked out the screens showcasing the fight to those in the back rows. When the dust settled, both giants lay motionless. A hush fell over the crowd. Lady Death leaned forward “Did we just have a…” Badrock’s fingers twitched. A cheer erupted as he rolled onto one knee. Slowly, painfully, Badrock forced himself upright, swaying but standing. “Unbelievable,” Vampirella marveled. Badrock barely had time to raise his head before the ground beneath him shuddered. “Uh oh,” he muttered. A massive shadow swept over him as two enormous figures clashed nearby, Maul and Masada, both grown to towering, skyscraper-threatening size. A single misplaced step could have flattened him. Badrock dove aside just as Maul’s colossal foot slammed down where he’d been standing, pulverizing the concrete. “Yeah,” Badrock grunted. “Not gettin’ stepped on today. Not after what I just went through.” Lady Death’s voice rang out. “Winner of Match One…Badrock!” The crowd exploded as a point was awarded to the Brigade on the scoreboard. Across the arena, the fight between Jenny Sparks and Prototype reached its climax. Prototype hovered unsteadily, his armor glitched as warning lights flashed across his HUD. Jenny Sparks floated calmly in front of him with lightning surrounding her. Her grin was sharp and unapologetic. “You did great, love,” she said. “But you’re still thinking like a machine.” Prototype snarled and fired one last desperate energy blast. Jenny didn’t dodge, instead she became electricity. Her body dissolved into a blinding bolt that shot straight through the blast, surged along Prototype’s suit, and flooded every circuit at once. The armor seized, locked rigid, and then detonated in a cascade of sparks as Prototype crashed hard into the arena floor. Smoke rose up from his suit. Jenny reformed nearby and brushed off her jacket. “Night, Jimmy.” Prototype didn’t move. Vampirella smiled. “Decisive.” Purgatori clapped. “Shocking, even.” Lady Death raised her hand. “Winner of Match Two….Jenny Sparks! A point for the Authority!” As medics rushed in and the colossal struggle between Maul and Masada continued to thunder in the background, the hosts turned their attention to the scoreboard. Lady Death tapped her chin. “Now then… Cyberforce and Ultraforce. Zero points apiece.” Purgatori smiled wickedly. “Both teams are gonna want to force their way onto the board next round.” “Because a failure to win again could force some very uncomfortable conversations,” Vampirella added. Lady Death smirked. “Careers are built on momentum. Lose too much, and the reality that you may not be the heroes you think you are tends to force itself in.” Purgatori snapped her fingers. “So why don’t we turn the pressure all the way up.” Vampirella’s eyes sparkled. “Next match .Cyberforce versus Ultraforce.” The crowd roared as the implications sank in. “One team,” Lady Death stated, “is guaranteed a win.” “And the other?” Purgatori laughed. “Still winless.” Vampirella spread her arms. “And because we simply adore the intensity and the drama…” “…we’re starting it right now,” Lady Death finished. Backstage with Ultraforce, the mood was tense. Prime, the boy turned musclebound caped hero, paced again with his fists clenched. “Prototype should’ve had that. I thought he almost did. Prime is so disappointed.” Topaz crossed her arms “I warned him. Underestimating Jenny Sparks cost him and us, that arrogant fool.” Hardcase nodded firmly. “Well, what's done is done. We move forward.” He turned to Topaz. “It sounds like you’re up next.” The blue skinned warrior queen of Gwendor straightened and picked up her signature battle staff. “Then I will show everyone the power of the Gwendorian race. Ultraforce will not fall again.” Elsewhere, Cyberforce regrouped after seeing Prime’s loss. Cassandra Lane, Ballistic, leaned back against a crate as she looked over her weapons with her cybernetic arm Her sister, the white skinned speedster, Velocity, stretched her legs. Although the previous match result has shocked them, they did their best to remain focused. Their teammate, Ripclaw, crouched low, and tapped his razor-sharp claws against the ground. Behind him stood Dominique Aurore Marie Thiebaut, the hero known as Cyblade. Her eyes burned with quiet resolve. “Impact gave it everything,” Ballistic finally said. “Now we return the favor.” Ripclaw nodded. “Yeah, this is far from over. We will turn this around.” Velocity agreed. “No doubt.” Cyblade stared thoughtfully at the pink colored electromagnetic blades she had formed with her hands. “It is on me to make sure we don’t stay at zero.” They wished her luck as her name echoed across the arena. Back in the arena, Lady Death’s voice rose above the chaos of the destruction being caused by Maul and Masada. “More! We bring you more! Representing Cyberforce for this fight will be Cyblade!” “And for Ultraforce, Topaz!” Vampirella announced. The two women stepped into the arena, facing one another amid the distant thunder of Maul and Masada’s ongoing clash. Purgatori laughed. “Gotta love it when the women step up after the boys fall short.” Lady Death nodded approvingly. “Topaz, the Gwendorian warrior queen, mystic combatant has trained for battle across worlds, but will her training be enough to secure victory?” Vampirella shrugged, “It certainly won’t be easy. Her opponent, Cyblade, has the power to manipulate electromagnetic energy with her fingertips and what she does with that power appears to only be limited by her imagination.” “Although she really does like making those blades of hers with her powers,” Purgatori noted. “Not that I blame her.” “We are bringing in some high-level blast power with these two women,” said Lady Death. “But who will prevail and who will unfortunately continue the downward spiral of their team?” “Let's find out!” Purgatori exclaimed. “Begin!” Topaz and Cyblade circled each other. Topaz’s staff glowed as electromagnetic energy emerged from Cyblade’s hands. “I can tell just by looking at you that you are a strong warrior and a worthy opponent,” Topaz remarked. “It will be my honor to put you down.” “You flatter me,” Cyblade responded. “But I’m not letting anyone take me down!”

leroypowell3 Posted January 19 Read Aloud Posted January 19 Hmmm.... I like Cyblade but Topaz is a warrior princess. She never got to shine in the Ultraforce comics and I hatted that warrior cry she did in the cartoon. I'll go with Topaz after a good fight.
