IKA Posted January 16 Read Aloud Posted January 16 CBUB FEBRUARY 2026 FLASH FICTION CHALLENGE: LOVE IS A BATTLEFIELD Theme: Love is a battlefield - Word Count Limit: 1,500 Words Max The Challenge: This month, we aren't just looking for a brawl; we’re looking for a burning heart. The theme is "Love is a Battlefield." In this challenge, the story must be driven by two characters whose relationship is challenged or proven during a conflict of some type. Whether it’s a duo proving their love, or being pushed to the breaking point in their relationships, it's time for the make it or break it moments. The Mandatory Requirement: Your entry MUST include at least one iconic duo of lovers (examples: Jesse and James, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Reed and Sue Richards, Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy). This duo must be the focus of the match, either: Fighting together against an opponent who threatens their bond. Fighting each other because their relationship has reached a breaking point. Fighting together, while their relationship cracks. At least one story thread must explicitly explore their relationship. We want to see how their love affects their tactical decisions, their morale, and the ultimate outcome of the conflict. Tournament Guidelines: Word Count: 1,500 words or less. Use a Word Count tool; entries over the limit will not be considered for the Grand Prize. Story MUST include the theme, be posted through the Tournament selection AND be posted by February 28th, 2026 to qualify. Prizes & Scoring: Grand Prize: $25 Digital Visa Gift Card! Winner Selection: The match with the highest community rating at the end of Tournament wins!

Keep a look out for your prize coming in a few days! Unfortunately, I accidentally disqualified myself. I thought I had done the word count beforehand but after I posted it and read the other two submissions, I felt mine might be too long and I was right. I had a little bit over 1800 words.
