	Your control Panel is your way to interact with the website, creating stories, adding characters, the likes. <br>
	<br>
	Let's take a look!<br>
	<br>
	First will be your statistics! This only takes your rated matches into consideration and is not effected by rumbles. <br>
	The more Matches you make, and the better your F.P.A. (The Average of the score of your rated matched) The Higher rank you can achieve, and the more points you can use. <br>
	<br>
	The more points you have, the more characters you can use at a time. <br>
	<br>
	<img alt="image.png" class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" data-fileid="2469" data-ratio="48.31" data-unique="8p7355l4z" width="532" src="https://www.comicbookuniversebattles.com/uploads/monthly_2025_07/image.png.0eebaa05a980f4e33d49bd3e839655ec.png"><br>
	<br>
	Next up is your current snapshot!<br>
	<br>
	This tells you your current matches and lets you get back to them immediately. Here is also where you can check the characters you have added and your past matches. <br>

	<br>
	Next are your actions, This is pretty self explanatory. Here is where you Add Characters, Create Matches, and create your teams for our Fantasy Draft Events. <br>

	The Comic Book Universe Battles is a great place to talk about who can beat who, but it is also a game.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	It is the game aspect that this post discusses
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	<span style="text-decoration:underline"><strong><span style="font-size:14px"><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif">Table of Contents</span></span></strong></span>
</p>

</p>

<p>
	I. Match Types
</p>

<p>
	II. Rankings
</p>

<p>
	III. Points
</p>

<p>
	IV. Judges
</p>

<p>
	V. FPA Scoring
</p>

<p>
	VI. Removing Bad FPAs
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	<span style="text-decoration:underline"><strong><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif"><span style="font-size:14px">I. MATCH TYPES</span></span></strong></span>
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	There are two types of matches which can be created in the CBUB Match Maker
</p>

<ol style="list-style-type: decimal"><li>
		A Rumble
	</li>
	<li>
		A Match
	</li>
</ol><p>
	<strong>Rumble:</strong> A rumble is basically a glorified regular forum discussion about who could beat who. Rumbles go to the Rumble forum for discussion. Rumbles are <strong>NOT</strong> part of the CBUB game. No more need be said about a Rumble.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	<strong>Match:</strong> A match is a contest created using your points available. A match will be rated by CBUB Judges and their determination will result in your score.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	When a match is created you are expected to immediately post up a scenario or "Set-Up" about the fight. The quality of the Set-Up and the contestants chosen for the match are (generally) what CBUB Judges will score you on. Matches are scored by judges with grades A - F.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	<span style="text-decoration:underline"><strong><span style="font-size:14px"><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif">II. RANKINGS</span></span></strong></span>
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	There are five Rankings based on a Five Star system.
</p>

<p>
	New players begin at No Stars, naturally.  Top players would be 5 star.
</p>

<p>
	For more info on the Rank system see:

<p>

	</p><p>
		<span style="text-decoration:underline"><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif"><span style="font-size:14px"><strong>III. POINTS</strong></span></span></span>
	</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Points are what you use to create Matches with. It takes one point to check one character out of the CBUB Database for use in a match.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Each rank has a certain number of Points available.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Rank 1: 9 points
</p>

<p>
	Rank 2: 8 points
</p>

<p>
	Rank 3: 6 points
</p>

<p>
	Rank 4: 5 points
</p>

<p>
	Rank 5: 4 points
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	At Rank 5 (the special newbie tutorial rank) a player may only make 1-on-1 matches.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	To make a 3-on-3 match a player would need 6 points to check characters out of the Database.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	<span style="text-decoration:underline"><strong>IV. JUDGES</strong></span>
</p>

<p>
	Anyone can Judge a Rated Match by giving it stars in the Topic.  Choose the number of Stars based on how entertaining the Fight Set-up is.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Judges are a special group whose rating count twice (x2).  Generally, they are people who have been around the site for awhile and made Rank 1 or Rank 2.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	New and existing players can be put into the CBUB Judges group if they make Rank 1 or Rank 2 and have been around the site for awhile participating.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	<strong>Why Judges? </strong>Because some assholes like to give everything 1 star.  Judges move the rating on a match towards an Average mean that is probably more true to its worth.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	<span style="text-decoration:underline"><strong>V. FPA Scoring</strong></span>
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Your overall FPA (Fight Point Average) is calculated on a Five Star system like, say, user reviews on items in Amazon.
</p>

<p>
	It is a weighted average.
</p>

	Hello everyone,
</p>

<p>
	So, you've no doubt seen me around the site, and know me as a friendly kind of guy, heck all of us are, pretty much.
</p>

<p>
	But, there is something we all need to talk about and be far more mindful of, recently we had an incident in which a user expressed political opinions within a CBUB match, and on that we're not going to be naming names or citing the specifics of the incident, as the affiliated aspects of said business have been dealt with.
</p>

<p>
	Now, I don't want to come down hard on you guys, nor do I want you all to think of me or anyone else in a negative light, that is not the purpose of this thread nor of my intentions from it, instead I hope that we can work together to move forward in the light of our circumstances as a group, site, or in some ways, a family.
</p>

<p>
	To that end, I'm just going to ask one thing of you guys, and one thing only, please, please, refrain from posting political comments or opinions in your matches, comments, etc., as these things are causing some conflict in the site, and making it harder for everyone.
</p>

<p>
	I care about you guys, just like a lot of us probably do, and I care about the site, so I'm all I'm asking is to keep this idea in your minds before you post something else of this type of nature, please let's work together to better the site and each other.

	<strong><span style="font-size:18px;">CBUB Updated Rating System</span></strong>
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	<strong>Old System:</strong> Grade Point Average. A weighted average between 0 and 4.0.
</p>

<p>
	<strong>New System: </strong>5 Stars rating system.   A weighted average between 0 and 5.0.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	<strong>Calculation Differences between the Old System and the New System:</strong>
</p>

<p>
	The old GPA system had a number of arcane calculations in it.
</p>

<p>
	For example, not being able to advance in Rank until producing a certain number of Matches.  Also, buying off Low Scores to adjust your FPA upwards.
</p>

<p>
	The GPA system compressed Five possible ratings (A, B, C, D, F) between a number spread 0 to 4.0.
</p>

<p>
	The Stars system compresses Five possible ratings (in Stars) between a number spread 0 to 5.0.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	<strong> Why move to a Stars System?</strong>
</p>

<p>
	These are all my reasons.  I understand some people may prefer the Old system.
</p>

<p>
	1. The Forum has a Stars Rating system on topics built right into it.  This aligns perfectly with our use case.
</p>

<p>
	2. A GPA is unwelcoming. New members join and discover they are rated 'F'.  That is not helpful as it has a negative association with School.
</p>

<p>
	3. Removing all the Arcane bullshit that built up over the years and going with a flat weighted average.
</p>

<p>
	4. Stars lends itself to more graphical flourishes on a website.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	<strong>What's going to change?</strong>
</p>

<p>
	Your Weighted Average will be recalculated from the total of your ratings given by members.  All of them.  Including ones that had previously been 'Bought Off'.
</p>

<p>
	This is the New, Honest score you have achieved over your CBUB Lifetime.
</p>

<p>
	The Buy Off functionality is being removed.
</p>

<p>
	All the old arcane rules about progression will be removed.
</p>

<p>
	And, in the future, your Star Rating may enable Perks and such.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Thanks!
</p>

<p>

</p>

	Please remember that reviews on this site are done on a case by case basis; we have multiple people who review characters. As such, there are few hard and fast rules about what is and isn't acceptable. The reviewer has discretion. However, this is serge's website and he has given us both general and specific guidelines for accepting characters. I've compiled some here for you.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	<span style="font-size:16px;"><strong>Characters:</strong></span>
</p>

<p>
	<strong>Mostly, we deal with fictional characters.</strong>
</p>

<ul><li>
		No real people / bands etc, unless they have pop culture significance.
	</li>
	<li>
		No politicians. Ever.
	</li>
	<li>
		No actual religious figures like Jesus, etc.
	</li>
	<li>
		Professional Wrestlers are fighting characters that go in the Pop Culture section.
	</li>
	<li>
		Steve Irwin is a real person.  Mr. T is a real person. Both have pop culture significance and physical prowess.  They might be acceptable.
	</li>
	<li>
		Hitler is a real person and of no interest to us because we don't do contests comparing Mass Murderers.  Likewise, Jeffrey Dahmer, Ted Bundy and other murderers are of no interest. We do not want them.
	</li>
	<li>
		Julius Ceasar, Romel the Desert Fox and Napolean *might* be of interest to us because of their supposed historical tactical genius.
	</li>
</ul><p>
	Again... <strong>Mostly, we deal with fictional characters.</strong>
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	In the case of Duos please don't add them!
</p>

<p>
	In the case of full on teams (e.g The Avengers) please continue to add them.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	<strong>Please don't put parenthetical 'notes' for a character in the name when you submit them!</strong>
</p>

<p>
	To quote Sir Exal: "For crying out loud people, we know Trevalyn is from Bond and Near is from DeathNote. Don't bother putting in the parentheses for the place. If people don't know, they can look at the sources."
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Parenthesis should only be used for characters in the DB with the same names. Ie, <strong>Angel</strong> is already in the DB from Buffy. Someone submitted the Marvel mutant X-man as <strong>Angel (Marvel)</strong>. That is acceptable and the only use for parenthesis.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	<strong>Trevalyn (James Bond 006)</strong>, for example, is unnecessary. As is something like <strong>Optimus Prime (Transformers)</strong>.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Please watch out for that. We'll likely be editing characters in the DB with unnecessary parenthesis when the admin tools for that come online.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	And as always, please remember that all the administrators who work on the CBUB do it on their own time. It can take a few days to get a character or graphic reviewed by an admin, especially when there are a lot of characters to go through.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	The general rule is to wait a week (7 days) before you ask "what happened to my submission?!"
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Thanks!
